Hey so recently I purchased the above item for my Guardian for about 300g because he’s all dark and blue and these flames look great on him and well….I love fashion lol. Anyways problem is I went to LA to put it on and it worked fine and all, then I took my character back to PvP since that’s what I mainly play and suddenly it no longer works. Is there a reason the effect doesn’t work in pvp or is it just a bug? I really hope the latter because otherwise I just wasted 300g =(

One thing I wanna ask just to clarify, because I noticed you said you were new and you changed your armor to see if it helped. You realize in pvp your armor, amulets, etc don’t matter and all your stats come from your pvp amulet right? Same goes for your runes and sigils, pvp doesn’t use the ones on your armor it uses the ones set up in the pvp build panel which if you haven’t used it could be anything, this could be a large part of your problem if so.

I love seeing threads complaining about the overpowered mesmers and the underpowered mesmers on the same page of the pvp forums lol.

Lol honestly though I’d go with charr over norn. I have 5 necros, only race I don’t have is a norn necro because I just couldn’t like light armor on them. Charr though just feel right, and my charr necro is one of my favorite guys. <3

Thanks for the advice thus far guys. One thing I forgot to mention that may be relevant is a little is I guess right now I’m a bit of a copycat. I like to look at other peoples art that I think is good or cool and then sketch it in rl for fun. Normally I can get a lot of copies fairly close to the original which I’m pretty happy with but I suppose my biggest issue is I don’t really have a style of my own. Making copies and replicating I do fine but when I try to do original stuff it never turns out good lol but I just don’t know how to start making my own style, so to speak. =/

Hai all, sorry for the bother but I had a quick question or two for you talented people. Moon wants to learn how to make digital art really really bad lol. I’ve always loved art and adore getting commissions from other people but I’ve always wanted to be able to do it myself and so I’d like to start. What I’d like from you amazing people is just a few answers and a moment of your time. <3
1.) How did you learn to create digital art? Did you teach yourself, take a class, make copies of others work, etc?
2.) What kind of physical tools do you use and what would you recommend for someone trying to learn? (Stuff like drawing tablets for example)
3.) What digital program do you use? Is it like photoshop or some other program?
4.) Any other advice you think could help

I do agree with some of what’s said but I mean it’s kind of the players fault. Me personally, I play for fun, so most of the time I join the losing team anyways. Like you mentioned though most players won’t do this, they head straight for the winning team. Even worse, some will wait till someone gets transferred then join the winning team (saw someone do this, get transferred to the losing team, and repeat the process 3 more times throughout the match -.-). I’ve actually been verbally abused before because when I see someone join the winning right before they are about to win I make it my mission for the remainder of the game to make sure he gets no points whatsoever and has to either play all the way through or find another game. If players weren’t always so concerned with winning and getting dailies and other crap and just focused on having a fun game eventually they’d get their dailies and maybe everyone could enjoy the game a little, but that’s just my take on it. ;3

Well worth the money! Great art, quick time, and lots of patience (I should know, they put up with me after all X3). Bump for awesomeness~

If I wanted it all I would pay the 15g and unlock the tracks, I already stated the 15g is actually nothing to me, this is about principles, I refuse to pay it because I think having a gold sink as an unlock is just not FUN, I remember Colin once said “when designing content we ask ourselves, is it fun?” so I guess Colin wasn’t involved in this decision because it surely is not fun.

So you agree the 15g isn’t that much and if you wanted it you’d get it so then basically you don’t want it and since you don’t have to buy it to do anything I don’t really see the problem here. Also how is it a gold sink? You pay for it once and get it forever, isn’t that how most products tend to work?

While I can agree that sometimes it’s just people asking for handouts I don’t think you can apply such a broad generalization to everyone who asks for help. I like to think of ot more as requesting a teacher or mentor in some cases, they want to learn or progress but may just need a little push in the right direction to get them there. Other times players may just need a little help; maybe to get to a wp, get better gear for their up level, etc. During the big 21 day sale for instance I bought skins for a few ppl that wouldn’t be able to get gems in time. Not everyone asking for help just wants a handout, plenty of people just want to learn. =)

Anyway, my point was, that path finding (AI navigation) shouldn’t be what Mesmer’s teleport is based on simply because it breaks it = unless there is a valid walking path to your destination you cannot teleport, which is absurd, because a teleport – even in most films – allows you to shift at least where you can see (in most cases even where you cannot, good examples are Xmen, Star Trek, you name it), so if you’re standing on the edge of a cliff and you can see another one within a reasonable distance you should be able to move there.

Ah but this isn’t a movie lol. The vampires aren’t hot and don’t sparkle, the heroes don’t always have happy endings, and there isn’t always going to be some convenient thing waiting on you lol. GW2 is a game and plays by the mechanics of one and personally, having played Mesmer since launch, the only problem I have at all with mesmers blink is the no valid path issue when the terrain isn’t even or I’m on a bridge in wvw, otherwise no complaints. And saying its unfair that thief has more than us is kinda crazy by the way considering first of all to get that ability they basically slot a weapon just for mobility and secondly think of all the things Mesmer has that thief doesn’t, can’t have the best of everything lol.

Nah lol that’s one of the things wrong with the world today. People sugarcoat everything so that no one gets their feelings hurt lol but some people just need to hear blunt and obvious truth, and the truth is there is a portion of the player base (a very vocal portion at that) who act that way

To my knowledge this is the first outfit they’ve ever sold in a pack like this so it may be the start of a new trend, or it may just be a thing for HOT. Either way I personally doubt they’d put the outfit up for sale alone seeing as it’s in e pack now. Some people with similar opinions to yours may have already went out and bought it just for the outfit so it would be like screwing them over to just release it alone now. The only chance I personally think it has of being sold solo is after it’s been taken out of the gem store eventually if it makes a return it could be alone this time.

From my personal experience when me an some guild ise run we normally do that same thing.
-Use all initial supply to spawn door breakers
-Send 1-2 to defend guards and kill their breakers
-2 go to enemies hate to kill heir guards and disable treb if need be
-1 goes to middle and gets more supply to run back

That’s the basics for us. If we don’t have any incoming doorbreakers the 1-2 defenders will go get supply and make more for our side. Once both gates are down we typically try and spawn 2-4 archers, and get the mist champions if we’re lucky. If the enemy haven’t spawned anything and we have at least 1 gate still up we’ll all rush their lord, if they have we send 1 back to defend while the others rush who typically, if we haven’t succeeded by said defense, will grab supply and spawn 2 more archers then head to their lord as well.

If that was the case ele’s and their elementals would fizzle out, necromancers and their minions would be put to death, guardians and their spirit weapons would be banished, thieves and their guild fired, and engineer and it’s gyros scrapped. Half the classes have some for of it lol

Lol the searing eh? I see we have a GW1 vet here. I can understand why you may harbor dislike for the charr but tell me have you ever looked at it from their side? The charr didn’t just start killing humans, they were invaded by humans, being pushed from their home. Directly after being pushed back their leader, the Khan-Ur, was also assassinated. Humans finally got the bad end after the charr got organized and started to reclaim their home lol and even then many of their worst demises were by their own hand. Vizier Khilbron sunk Orr and all it’s people into the sea to deny the charr victory in The Cataclysm, Saul and the White Mantle brought in the Mursaat who eventually turned on them, and the mad old King Adelbern unleashed the Foefire, effectively killing everything in his kingdom though leaving the humans souls eternally trapped as ghosts, a fate worse than death.

As for Logan meh, no real complaints about him, there’s others I dislike more. Looking at you Braham, keeping me from knowing Scarlet’s true purpose. >>

Lol Anet can’t win either way. Nerf content because half the players complained, now that it’s been moderately nerfed those who were actually enjoying it now complain. Either way Anet loses in thus aspect it seems lol.

Gotta agree with the above lol, people who either had faith in the company or wanted the game either way pre-purchased and got rewarded for it, seeing as it was a pre-purchase reward after all just like the other perks such as the skins and guild hall decorations. No reason to take a pre-purchase reward and just give it away to everyone, kinda defeats the purpose lol.

Yup perfect place to post it! First off welcome to the game, glad to have you aaa part of the community!

First thing to think about is when making a character what you like to play. Do you wanna be a bunker or glass cannon, pew pew from afar or get up in someone’s face, etc, and read up on the classes then test them out. If the initial test of a class doesn’t go well doesn’t mean it’s not for you, just means you might not have found the right build yet. PvP is a great place to test this, especially if you have some friends to test builds with.

If you haven’t picked yet be careful what server you choose! It only matters in WvW but it can be the difference between how well you experience this aspect of the game.

As for guilds your absolutely right there, one of the best things for new players is to find a guild that shares your interests and can help you learn the game.

Have you considered checking the asura NPC database? If you happened to find a name you liked there it would be asura related and you could add whatever title or follow up name after it to add to the astronomy theme. Generally asura names are as Aye said though and many are taken so you will almost undoubtedly need a last name or title. I know a few of my asura are named things like Bwiff, Bwekk (twins), Millum, Tarff, Kazzax, etc

That’s one of the new weapon set pieces, the Auric Mace to be specific I believe.

Lol of all the pitiful threads I’ve read today, this one just feels outright sad. There’s so many people in this game who are just ready to rise up and complain at the slightest discomfort I can’t believe it lol. I mean really, asking for a refund now? For one they already released a considerable amount of info both in the form of videos and announcements and in the beta tests so I didn’t think most things were to unexpected. Am I particularly happy about some of the changes and having to go hard for specs and masteries? Maybe not but I have other fun things to do while I do them so who cares lol. Even if I did buy the expansion though and hated everything about it I would never ask for a refund however. I made the decision to spend money on it and if the game didn’t meet up with what I wanted it to well that sucks but to bad. I honestly think this expansion is what a lot of players need, people have been complaining about easy content for a while now well guess what, here you go lol you asked for this! Now not everything’s handed to everyone and you have to work a little for it, be happy people asked for this after all. X3 Just wish people could learn to take GW2 for what it is, a game, and stop acting like they’ve been cheated every time the game doesn’t go in the direction they want it to.

HoT has been out a few days and everyone is screaming THE SKY IS FALLING, THE GAME IS GRINDY we cant get to full Mastery in a few days. This attitude is what is killing games as companies spend millions making them and then players expect to complete all content in a few hours or it is considered grindy.

Those people who play games to have fun and achieve things are in the game playing their characters and enjoying it. Those who expect everything to be easy and handed to them without putting in effort are here on the forums complaining.

I am thoroughly enjoying the new content, just taking my time and cruising around doing the new stuff on offer.

Lol then when they complete it in a few hours they complain there’s nothing to do and no new content for them. I’ve seen people complain for a while now about the lack of challenging content, how dungeons and pve in General were just to easy, and now that we have actually cool more challenging stuff no one wants to play it lol.

I respect the quoted post as it’s someone who actually knows what this is, a game, and knows that it’s meant to be fun. Heck I’ve hiked up places quite a few times already to see I went the wrong way or couldn’t access what I wanted, so what lol I’ll get there eventually. Besides climbing all the way up there means I get to have a fun glide back down lol. People need to just chill and quit trying to find fault in everything

So as one of those people who love and adore Fashion Wars 2 with the recent wardrobe update I’ve absolutely fell in love I many of the new skins but with one problem, how to get my hands on them! Things like the Machined, Auric, and Chak weapons, the bladed and leyline armors, even those random skins in the wardrobe like the sword Ebb or the Fix’r upper hammer and the new backpieces from the radiant to the three orders. If anyone has any information pertaining to how to acquire see wonderful items even the smallest tidbit I’d love to know, and thank you for your time. <3

I just wouldn’t mind a lot of the old stuff coming back. Glacial for instance there is a good bit of fire themed stuff but almost no water themed pieces as far as fashion goes so id love more options with it. <3

I just happened to be a little curious after going back and looking at GW1 if any of the old armor sets or even pieces would be coming back. Anything from entire armor sets to things such as the festive hats or various gauntlets. I know some things such as the Lion Mask, the Scarf, Halo, Dragon Mask, etc have been brought back in their own ways and some weapons as well such as the Tormented Skins so I was wondering what the chance of other items being brought back was. I know for instance we have the toxic gloves skin, I was wondering if items such as the glacial or dragon gauntlets my come back from GW1 to be modeled like these as well (though I admit I don’t have much knowledge of game mechanics so I’m not sure if already having armor like the toxic gloves would make it easier to implement or not). I dunno could even be tied into future expansions or LS events, like when we finally fight Jormag for instance with the glacial ones (you can tell I really want the glacial ones lol). But anywho just a little curious so figured I’d ask on the very likely chance that someone knew more about the topic than me. For those who may not know what I’m referring to I’ll include some links below.

Prolly guard, ranger, or engi would be best, depending on what you need. Guards can be great bunkers who absorb a lot of damage while giving out decent healing and support, rangers can be good at long range or messing with people via the current trapper build, and engi’s can be pretty good at burst or moderate damage and support via elixirs. Try them all and see which one you end up needing more for your individual play styles. ^^
