There is a slight trinity.. warrior = dps, guardian = support/tank. At least these are what these classes excel at.
What i gather is you want flexibility of this system, which is kinda where it is now, any more defined and it would become more “preferred” than optional for most as it would be the “easier” setup. war, guardian mesmer is already a preferred setup as is in many cases. war for dps, mesmer for utility, guardian for support.
I do agree that the attractiveness of no trinity also hurts in the fact that in my limited knowledge, limits the amount of strategy for encounters. Has it’s pro’s & con’s overall.
Where is the -1 button? That’s 2 useless replies you’ve made so far, you’re on a roll!
If i knew what to spend them on I might but until then im keeping them but having over 1k of tokens eats up space & what’s the point of having just 250 stacks of tokens?
Maybe we should have karma tokens and stack it to 500 also right, so we can make people spend it more or spend gems on bank/bag space.
I agree about the underwater elite.. I also think removing signet of capture to obtain your elite instead of buying it was also a mistake & took away from the uniqueness that guild wars1 introduced (at least to me i never saw anything else like it besides FF7). I also find it sad that unless you’re going for legendary, obtaining further skill points passed 80/after obtaining all skills is a total waste. It becomes a useless “currency.”
I do use my elite very often (I play guardian), but it would be nice to have more options.
As the title says, make them like karma/laurels/gems, etc. Not take up bag space, such a waste of space.
What’s your point? What’s simplistic have to do with combat slowing?
You can swap between 2 setups during combat, outside of combat it has to be manually done.
Example: you’re playing guardian and you want to use staff for swiftness, but you primarily want to swap between Hammer/Greatsword for combat… you have to equip/re-equip weapons from character menu. If there was a side menu bar (side action bar, etc.) where you could place items in them to click to equip/use would be MUCH more beneficial. You could have different items in the slots to use on the fly.
And why would you want to target your allies? There are no target ally based skills (>_>
Not a huge fan on name changing tbh, it’s kind of your identity online. In some games it’s used to abuse. Personally I would rather they find more ways to make your character more individualized & customized, so you don’t end up looking like the next 4 people standing next to you.. that’s the difference with MMORPGs.. you’re trying to create an online persona – an individual, not a clone. Just my 2cents.
Yeah totally silly!
I still run passed mobs, as do most people, unless you’re immobilized, most people still tend to use their swiftness/distance jumping skill to zip passed mobs. Doesn’t help in PvE or PvP :-\
I agree it needs some work, +1
Not having “gap closers” tied to specific weapons to promote diversity of weapon usage & give more versatility.
I agree! Also a “back to previous screen/search” feature.
Suggestion: Remove it!
Institute better slow mechanics for mobs/players. “Running” in gw1 was an awesome and novel experience. While there is no running in gw2, what’s the point to combat slow in PvE? It def has no advantage in PvP other than to promote kiting… so yeah, what’s the point?
Way to access weapon/weapon setup other than opening character panel.
Side action bar or feature (guild wars1 had it) that allowed you to swap in different weapons other than opening up your character screen to double-click the weapon you want to swap in. Yes we do have weapon-swap between 2 sets (during combat), but what happens when you want to swap out while running to the next boss because say you need ranged instead of your melee/melee setup. Or you’re adventuring and need your running weapon setup, want to swap the second you get out of combat because you realize the situation calls for different skills, etc.
Dungeon(s) not meant to be completed in 1-sitting & resets at the end of the week. Has a set loot table per boss & challenging/fun. Maybe 8 player setup so we can have some split team mechanics to boss fights instead of everyone just zerging on the boss (and not just anti-melee/spam aoe type fights).
When I started FoTm I heard of the different levels & was excited… Only to discover its just a matter of doing the dungeon repeatedly to “level up” in order to reach high enough level to obtain decent loot. Seems pretty dull, I don’t even bother doing fractals as a result & yea that’s my personal choice but why should I have to do the same dungeon 10+ times just to start getting loot that’s not a bag?
Speed boost items? Idk, that would be tricky to balance. I rather they remove combat slow to begin with and institute more versatile slows/cripples, etc.
Ah I copied & pasted some of what you posted and found this entire post:
http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/473/feature/7169/Guild-Wars-2-What-Marchs-WvW-Patch-Will-Bring.html
Lots of WvW changes in March! Good stuff!
- Unlike the test dummies in Heart of the Mist – would be more beneficial to actually have NPC dummies that do not die so we can consistently test dps and ramp up skills (e.g. might stacking, condition damage stacking, etc.) as some fights do take time (champs, bosses, etc)
- Also NPC with <50% HP as some skills require low HP for their effect to trigger.
- why have test dummy npcs that die if “on kill” effects are not triggered by their “death”?? May wanna reconsider for testing purposes in HoM area. Of course remove all buffs when leaving the zone to prevent exploits.
- - Leap of faith has some pathing issues (you either jump too far ahead or jump in place. This happens especially on object targeting, and occassionally on mob targetting.)
- - Ascalonion Catacomb dungeon – Scepter attacks say “invulnerable” when attacking from above ground level, even with a clear path, yet Smite works. This occurs when attacking spiderlings while standing on the wall. Other ranged classes are able to target just fine.
I mentioned to someone that WvWvW would be much better with a rank system that could be earned based on participation/kills & was told it was discussed for a patch upcoming.. true?
Obtaining individual ranks would be an excellent addition to improve WvW in my opinion!
1. When adding someone to friend list, allow the person adding to see class/level/location regardless if the other person has added you.
(currently only shows location – if the person doesn’t mutually add you)
2. The Friend List Icon, place # by the icon to indicate number of contacts currently online.
3. Allow notes instead of nicknames. Nicknames simply removes the tag & is limited. What if we want a simple note such as: “ran fotm x2, crafter”, “pvp buddy,” etc. to jog our memories. We can always add nicknames under notes. Notes could show as a tooltip when hovering over the person’s name in list.
4. Allow player to see class/level of followers.
5. Looking for Group – allow players an option to specify what it is they are looking for exactly. Would encourage more use of this feature. Perhaps tabs/categories e.g. Dungeon/PvP/General, etc.
As the title says, not sure if alrdy posted, probably.
Remove the knockdown “Leap Attack”! Seriously not necessary now with the cripple effects.. Being chain knockdown’d is poor mechanics.. basically you’re just making things more of a dps race. Ran the dungeon with all sub 80s and was hell for P1 burrows. The dungeon was more enjoyable pre-patch & also no lag pre-patch.. now anything to do with fair amount of mobs = lag. Before patch was fine, so no it’s not my graphics card/memory. Dungeon needs to be reworked.. it’s lv.35 after all I highly doubt a group of 35s can clear this unless it’s war zerg setup
I understand what he’s saying & I agree to some degree. The economy is boring & there is no trade game, yet there is MF & item grinding.. only to vendor most items and sell a few mats. I agree it’s a rly nice game, just needs a bit more.
So now that i’ve been 80 for 2-3 days (think I posted this thread when I was Lv.19) I will admit the game grew on me more & more, but now it’s starting to die down again.
Karma/Skill Points – Lose their worth very quickly after reaching 80.
(Unless you want mystic/legendaries)
Further Suggestions:
Skill Acquisition…
- I think the acquisition of Elite skills from GW1 was fun & gave ppl something to work towards. Why not add similar here but not solely elite skills but skills that are acquired after 80 and maybe utilize one of the currencies.
-This of course would require skill swapping on action bar but would provide more diverse builds granted they work in balance with current skills.
More Skins (self explanatory)
Perfect Stats
- I think this will be controversial but I feel the same allure of GW2 also hurts it. This is the fact that all items of that tier bracket have the same stats. Unlike Diablo & GW1, GW2 has no stat variance, you seen 1 exotic Berserker’s Greatsword (stat wise), you’ve seen them all. I feel the Magic Find farming could be taken advantage of HUGELY which would in turn:
1. boost the economy
2. boost “must have” players to have something else to do
3. encourage REAL trade (this game has none, sorry, the market is boring)
4. those of you from gw1 who wanted “required 7” weapons or those who’ve played diablo understand this concept. It will provide another level to item hunt instead of “I want that skin”
- This would require my 1st post’s #1 suggestion to come into effect Trading & COD Mail
I still stick with my 1st post even after playing through further & coming to enjoy the game more but I feel still needs more. Im not even touching pvp yet, it already left a bad taste in my mouth my 1st few days of playing. But I will try wvwvw now im 80 & gearing.

Short version: Consumables saying +10 Experience instead of +10% Experience.
As a new player I always thought food/consumables gave +10 Experience from kills, which I thought was extremely small later on, only to find out it actually means +10%.. at least according to online sources. I took a second look when I found +15% on 1 consumable and made me wonder if the +10 was actually to mean +10%…
I have to say your english is a bit hard to understand, but overall I think this game lacks rewards & bridging PvP in the general PvE world. People like to display their achievements.. nobody wants to do things unoticed. Why get ascended gear if nobody will see it.. I mean the game is about looks right so that means you’re showing off. There should definitely be a way to bridge PvP and PvE with rewards or distinctions.
1 character that can play multiple classes/professions I liked from games like Final Fantasy, Eden Eternal, but given that this game has been out for a while now & ppl have alts, it’s more than likely not going to happen, would be a big problem. But I also prefer this system of 1 character that is ur focus. But any game like that has to be built like that from the start.
This game could do with a lot more stuff right now to increase the overall enjoyment than just profession changer.
Considering it’s no advantage why should it take frigging forever to rank up at the start? After 56 games im rank 7 with NOTHING to show for it, cuz rabbit gear looks like crap IMO. And PvP gear doesn’t carryover into WvW, so all you have is ur little cosmetic look for a tiny map zone. The way things are so slow you’d think ranks gave you some big boost.. it’s just looks. PvP really got the short stick in this game.
The way I see it, the downed state pretty much signifies the end of battle for you. If I want to use stealth to finish you off while avoiding your pathetikittentle attacks (Especially if your buddies are trying to get you up), then far be it from me to not use such a tactic.
You get downed, you’ve already lost.
IMO, the downed state should be removed from PvP… It’s a nice touch for PvE but being killed by a player you just killed (thought you killed) is ridiculous. Downed/Rally IMO should be saved for PvE. You’re downed, you lost – I 100% agree.. but with downed state/rally this isn’t the case, people come back from the dead & it plays way too much into PvP that can turn the tide.
Oh I didn’t wanna flood the suggestion section, I felt would be really annoying. Besides I guess debating topics to death as a community doesn’t do much for the game if it’s not implemented. Was just seeing if ppl agreed/disagreed.
Trading + COD (cash on demand) Mail
Preview items from AH (Auction House)
Skills usable mid-air
More emotes
(Note: Why do weapons disappear during emotes?)
More intuitive mail system
(Note:
- Unable to send mail to offline character (but can send to battletag – what if person not on Friend list??
- You compose your mail, you click to add an item and double-clicking/right-clicking item does not work, have to drag & drop. Yes “Mail item to…” But you’re in the mail system, it’s clear you want to mail an item – Too many clicks!)
Show your character’s portrait in UI Option
(Note: some of us like to see our characters & how items change their portraits)
PvP rewards very vague in-game
(Note: Have to use websites to determine what is obtainable – Would be nice to see what we can work towards per rank, instead of vague tokens & chests)
Earned PvP skins carryover into WvW
(Side note: My main issue with PvP is that players do spend a lot of hours in PvP & ranking up is slow, would be nice to show accomplishments other than just a title outside the tiny pvp zone (heart of Mist))
Join as a Group option for PvP
(Note: Like say you & ur friend want to do some pvp together, not saying a full group of 5 – premade)
