ANet could also simply make the explorable requirement for CM higher, say 50. This may then have your non-80 toon better equipped trait-wise. TBH, I always preferred to get my toon to 80 before entering the dungeon’s explorable mode, primarily because I preferred to continue on my personal storyline rather than do an explorable mode that has little impact on the storyline.

Be that as it may, I have only farmed 2 explorables to date, AC & CM and I started with CM. I can tell you this much, CM is significantly more destructive on you, your gear, your group than AC is. AC is a lot more forgiving, you can skip a few bosses and run through areas. CM, not so much since the patch fixes. And kitten that condition heavy insanity machine, the scout. Think they are a bit OP considering how many there are in each part. I am more scared of them than the bosses!

Having said that, however, there is plenty of information online that can prepare you for the dungeons, be it using foods that remove conditions, passive condition removal skill, using blind, blocks, dodges, etc. Yes, dodging at low-levels is a problem, energy-return is a bit of a joke.

Further, I will say this much, even though the side-kicked system doesn’t reset traits for lvl 80’s, a bad lvl 80 side-kicked to lvl 45 is going to die as quickly as any other lvl 45 player.

I think the explorables are as difficult as they need to be. For a person first getting into them with no idea about what is about to happen, that ranks at insane difficulty level. Once you have been able to run every path 2-3 times, it all gets a lot easier.

So I say, patience, find a guild that can help you through areas, make some friends, have some luck getting into a party with players that have done it already a few times.

Explorable-mode is not like the other game’s LFR system where you can do everything but pay attention to what is going on and not have to prepare for.

I can’t wait till ANet introduces Hard Mode…ahahahahahahaha!!! No, really, can’t wait…

@Squall Leonhart.2075

True, it should not be, yet a lot of us are using W7 64Bit and experiencing a problem which should be prevalent under W7 32Bit conditions….bad coding somewhere then?

There just seem to be so many ways to ‘solve’ these crashes and it seems as if nobody knows where it’s coming from, I mean I went through a crazy number of things to just get to playing with 98% uptime:

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Solving-GW2-random-crashes-my-experience

On the other hand, is GW2 turning out to be the BEST diagnostic piece of software to test hardware? Is there no other game out there that stresses a cpu the way that GW2 does? Are we being sold badly optimised/quality controlled cpu’s from both Intel & AMD?

Now wouldn’t that be something, hehheh

A further note on settings, I had also moved my audio hardware bar to minimum latency as well, not sure if this combined with HDMI was may be causing graphics issues.

Ahh, also do check the ram clock in the bios. For some reason many mobo’s are setting 1600mhz to 1333mhz and this appears to be doing some nasty stuff to GW2.

At this time, I am able to play with very few, if any crashing at all.

GW2 proves it: tri-faction pvp isn't the answer

What GW2 has proven is that the best intentions are generally always scuppered and undermined by greed, selfishness. people taking advantage of a situation in the worst way, and a lack of honour – be this as individuals or as a group.

ANet certainly has the option to simply stop server transfers, free or otherwise. They choose to let people play the game rather while they try to fix cross realm dungeoning.

So no, GW2 has not proven that tri-faction does not work. In a gaming community where honor to a server and its community is paramount, things would be fine.

Graphic card maybe?

Hmm, had a similar issue until I disabled the intel onboard in the bios and removed the intel graphics drivers. Before you do that thoug, just do a system restore to before the update came in and see if that solves the issue, then you know for sure where the problem lies.

Is it possible to move GW2 to a new hard drive with out reinstalling?

Myth Shaia.4856

Yeah, it’s possible, on occasion when I have to repair/reinstall/re-download the game, I have found it easier to just copy my wife’s game directory to my ext usb3 drive and then onto my pc.

Your repatching is probably because your GW2 is not reading your data in your Documents folder – there’s a GW2 folder in there.

Set your Textures to Medium and see if that stabilises things for you.

Hi Chima.

Hope that your problems will be resolved as well, just make sure you put Textures on Medium. Whenever a new patch from GW2 lands, it resets my Textures to High and the intermittent crashing begins anew until I reset them to Medium.

Further to this, I don’t know if it’s because of HDMI but that may be the cause of the sound/grey screen crash.

Would suggest putting your sound settings in GW2 to medium or low and see if that helps as well if anyone else has this problem.

Frequent crashing from "corrupted files"

Glad to hear that solved your issue, NaughtyProwler.

The trouble is, after each patch it seems to reset the Graphics options to automatic in GW2, thus for all us ppl with higher spec vga cards, Textures is always reset to High.

So always remember to check this otherwise the crazy crashing/repair loop will rear its ugly head again – unless Anet Devs can stick some code in to remember a players Graphics settings.

On the real topic though, why is setting your Textures to High causing this crashing? Have we found a point for he devs to concentrate on? Is it the game or the vga cards? Some new technology or coding not optimised yet?

But yeah, as long as you play with Textures on medium setting, it seems to stabilise things a lot and in my case even stop the crashing entirely.

Getting out of repair loop is relatively easy, just go to your my documents folder and delete the contents of your GW2 folder – doing this does erase your username though so just type it back in and re-tick the box to remember your login name. Start GW2 and then turn your Textures to medium setting.

Firstly where I come from on this issue.

- Sapphire HD7850 2gb, 8gb corsair vengeance ram, i5 3570k, Crucial M4 256gb SSD, MSI GD55 mobo, Samsung LED via HDMI

Between 30th August till 3rd October, horrible client crashing, repair client nonsense, grey screen sound crash at completely random intervals.

None of my other games crashed – Dirt 3, Deus Ex, NFS, Crysis, not even spider solitaire!!

Have repaired, recopied, redownloaded GW2 to no avail.
Have tried AMD Catalyst 12.4 & 12.8 and only found that 12.4 was more stable.
Have overclocked GPU & CPU and then reset to normal for a brief interval of stability
Have downloaded latest Intel motherboard drivers – might have stabilised as well
Have done chkdsk /r and no errors have ever been reported.

Have found that turning off the ‘Enable Graphics Overdrive’, ticking Tesselation to ‘user application’ and unticking ‘enable surface format optimization’ in Catalyst center stabilised things a lot more.

Have found that setting Textures to medium in GW2 graphics options also helped a lot and didn’t deteriorate the visual quality too much.

Still though, crashing persisted.

Finally, decided my Crucial M4 256gb was the only point of contention between 2 otherwise identical machines, mine crashing the other not using a WD Black 1TB SATA HDD.

Went to Crucial’s website and found that new firmware has just been released. Had to work out how to flash the drive since their in-windows flash utility doesn’t detect any SSDs for some odd reason…

…and now 4 days straight with 4-8 hours of GW2 per day, not a single crash. Have not tried to overclock as I have not noticed a real gain from it in-game.

So if you have an SSD, see if there’s new firmware.
If you have an HDD, make sure the latest SATA controller software is installed and disable the overclocking function, be it NVIDIA or AMD/ATi.
