+1 for this idea. I welcome every way that is different to the current ways of aquiring a precursor
I get a fair amount of the destroyer cores each day from fractals. Mostly from the chests at the end of each.Maybe that would be an option, as you could make a bit of money while being in there as well
There´s already a way of playing this. It´s called the urban fractal. Even if that is a very one-sided way of playing it :P
yes it´s the same for me. As long as the BLTP window is open, the keyboard input is not recognized unless i click besides the BLTP window again
lol, the whole thread is full of warrior players, go play another kitten class and tell me how well you do against a condi warrior, then you can complain about how bad you warriors are. If you say you won against a condi warrior you are lying or you played someone bad. Don’t argue you know it’s f*** true
Whenever i encounter a warrior on my engi, i realize he´s not at all a match. No matter whether he is condi or not, he will just melt sooner or later.
But i don´t get that feeling when i am playing my warrior and encounter an engi….
So much for your theory of warrior being oh so OP, seriously l2p
I would so much LOVE to kill him over and over and over. I would quit the instance earlier, just to repeat the “Kill Trahearne, Voice oh Horror” part again and again
I wouldn’t go as far to say make it One per account, but I would most likely say they would at least have to add some form of TIME GATE and something that is simular to making a Legendary like “Gift of Precursor” or something on this form of level.
I think Anet wants to keep the current state of the economy to much, so this would be a way to keep the economy in a more or less untouched status. Of course prices would drop a bit, due to the fact that less people will be required to buy the precursor weapons. But in the end it would possibly be about 100g less for dusk. The selling people would still make good money out of it.
And if you want more than one legendary of one kind, you will have to go and grind, gamble or buy the precursor for that one.
But in the end it would also make sense when you think about the fact that there is an achievement and i think even a title, that relates to how many legendaries you have.
I do like the idea of both combined.
But as i think they want to protect the economy as well, i guess the precursor that you got from there should be limited to one per account and should be account bound
Don’t you have a ton of legendary weapons Nike?
“A good thing to remember is that if everyone got precursors as often as the OP has they wouldn’t be 400-800 gold.”
Very true, but I could not resist trying. I am not angry, just disappointed in myself. lol
LOL – this will come into play one day. Once precursors can be crafted we’ll see just how much they will be worth!
Speaking on this topic when Precursors “Become Available” to be crafted.
Along with many other aspects “Promised” to be added into the game…
I would no doubtingly say that if they did add this option it would more than likely need 100 Deldrimor Steel Ignots to craft the base Greatsword / Blade / Dagger.
Seeing as it would not be very wise to force the price of something to crash, which would cause Legendaries to tilt aswell.Plus think about it… Anet would love to add it because they treasure their
TIME GATED Materials.
I am not sure to which extent they could introduce time gated materials. They would have to create new ones possibly, or use the ascended ones, as i think it´s be to unfair to use time gated materials like the quarz crystals, that you can´t get anymore if you weren´t playing that part of the LS.
I personally hope it won´t include to many lvl 500 crafting professions, as i already feel tricked by that bit. I had leveled all 8 professions to 400 and now they tell me to get another 100 levels -.-
But i agree that it´d be a nice change to see more reliable ways to obtain a precursor weapon. Possibly make it so that you can only get a precursor once with that account and make it account bound. That way you would keep the value of existing ones on the TP as well, but give a lot of players a chance to get one in a secure way.
I suggest Anet changes the way their profanity filter works. It´d be much easier if they´d change every word, that is getting hit by the filter, to something nice or ridiculous, like sweetheart for example. And then make that filter permanently active.
God i would love to see those abusive people screaming even more, because they can´t abuse properly anymore lol
Oh look it’s this thread again!
a·chieve·ment
n.
1. The act of accomplishing or finishing.
2. Something accomplished successfully, especially by means of exertion, skill, practice, or perseverance.
3. something that has been accomplished, esp by hard work, ability, or heroism
4. successful completion; accomplishmentMap completion is a feat which requires you to do a lot of things to complete. Going through the WvW maps is a significant part of the journey full of its own unique challenges which must be overcome. Without WvW, map completion would simply not be the same thing it is right now. Doing map completion requires that you do certain things in order to earn it. If you can’t, or are unwilling to do those things, then you don’t deserve it.
Liken this to hockey or basketball or whatever you want. If you can’t or are unwilling to do what it takes to be the best, you don’t deserve the gold medal/trophy/what-have-you.
I tend to disagree. The only skill you need for map completion in WvW is luck. It´s pure luck which Borderlands you get and which part of EBG that goes with. And of course you need that extra bit of luck to check for EBG when your server has Stonemist under control.
To me personally it´s just annoying having to go to WvW for map completion. It´s a part of the game that i don´t play and don´t like. It´s unlike sPvP, where you mostly fight in 1v1s. In WvW it is mostly a 1v10+ zerg. Especially while you´re roaming and getting all the bits done you need.
Source? Haven’t seen this change mentioned so I definitely missed a dev post.
It was said by the devs in the last livestream that these changes will come
http://dulfy.net/2014/01/17/gw2-ready-up-skill-and-balance-developer-livestream-notes/
Nobody else has any luck with anything but Trading Post . _ . ?
LOL. are you serious? I hate this part of this game exactly because of all that luck that floats around players like you.
1200G ~ spent at mystic forge: 0 precursors
over 2000 hours of gameplay doing all content of the game : 0 precursors
Maybe you should be more grateful that you got 6 freaking precursors with those tries.
When it comes to gold, I really do not care much at all for it, I most likely will never sell them for gold or make Legendaries, It’s more or less a means to hoard items and keep gambling.
If you’re not going to do anything with them go and send a dusk my way. I’m growing tired of gambling the money I make every day, but I’ve invested so much in it that stopping without getting one would be a waste. I just hope I get one before I reach 4,000 greatswords bought.
I was thinking the same thing lol
Seriously i would really appreciate to get one at least.
Until today i have spent ~800g in exotic Greatswords and 0 precursor at all
Spent another ~500g in rare Greatswords and still no pre.
And i toss all the GS in the forge that i do get from dungeons/world bosses/ fractals
Kasmeer dies and I quit the game.
Mentors dying was more than enough. Leave Kasmeer alone. Kill off Trehearne or Logan. In other words characters we have no sympathy for. Hell, I had to look up spelling on the salad dude’s name because is so badly spelled out. But do not kill Kasmeer.
Logan or Trahearne in comparison to Kasmeer? I don’t even understand how you can say that. Aside from being key members of plot and character development, Logan and Trahearne actually possess personalities, and not just good looks, they actually fight and hold viable roles, whereas Kasmeer serves as no more than a poster girl. In the whole of LS the only noteworthy thing she’s done is join you in the tower and fight briefly, aside from that, she appeared in both southsun and dragon bash, but was as good as useless on both accounts.
I sincerely hope Anet won´t torture us anymore with Trahearne. He already was a pain in the PS and i can very happily imagine a LS without him.
And if you do look closely, Trahearne developed his character during the LS as well. Logan had his character developed in the books, so they already had it when the game started. According to this we could still see Kasmeer developing her character as well. It would be definitely better than seeing Trahearne or Scarlet filling that spot -.-
You will notice that the full name of say, a sigil of battle is “MAJOR sigil of battle” (rare) and “SUPERIOR sigil of battle” (exotic)
If prefixes are taken into account, you could have both a major and superior sigil of energy for 75% endurance on swap.
They´re still both sigils of battle and because of that they´ll share a CD
It’s one year after the personal story ends actually (I’m going off the confirmed year that was in a recent video or summary post).
and I don’t mean that it is ONLY going to take 5 years, I mean that it is at LEAST going to take 5 years since they confirmed that they wouldn’t have more than 1 dragon in a year. But yeah I’ll admit my take on it is not very cynical. To be honest I’m looking at it mostly from a mechanical point of view. In the game Charr and Humans are never going to be full on enemies because the Charr and Human players are on the same side – so their conflicts with one another, whilst maybe not solved, are never going to be at the forefront within GW2. In that respect it’s sort of like the gameplay and mechanics are enforcing a limit on the lore – because in reality there would be a lot more tension between Charr and humans. They might work together to fight the dragons, but it would be a very very uneasy alliance – much more uneasy than it is portrayed in game. But then of course part of that falls on the fact that the lore has the Charr as warmongers, but in game they are a lot more raitonal.
I think this alliance will never be more than a treaty. A simple stop to the slaughter, while both parties will still keep their weapons at hand. It just seems so odd, that those two fractions could just sit together drinking tea and cooking dinner, moments after they were still killing each other. And a lot of NPCs still show this hatred for the other race. Which is legitimate in my eyes.
Sigils with same names will share cd (not sure for rarity though).
Doesn´t matter which rarity, they said that all sigil of the same name would share this CD.
What I’m getting from this thread is that everyone wants something different.
I suppose that no one is //right.// The fact is, though, that Teq is a hard world boss. If you don’t want a hard boss, go do easier content.
There are people who like doing harder content – Teq is for them. Not you.
If you are a completionist, you’re going to have to start liking harder content.
AGAIN. You do not have to be in a guild to beat Teq. Heck, log on with me tonight on Jade Quarry. 5pm server time. If you want to do the content, be there two hours early. That’s a small price to pay for playing the harder content. JQ also does Teq at 12pm server time, IIRC, and they usually beat her then, ’cuz when I log on around 3 server time, the land in Splintered coast is all sunshine and rainbows.
Blackgate does Teq every time she spawns, too.
For those people who are insistent that they cannot get to Tequatl to take her down, you are just making excuses. Make the effort, and you’ll get a kill on most nights.
I like harder content. So I am looking forward to this new wurm being difficult. It’s not for some people, and I accept that, too. You don’t have to do it if you don’t like to coordinate the harder stuff. There are champions and elites around the map that you can feel free to engage.
Because that’s exactly what you want.
World bosses SHOULD be hard. They’re world bosses. The people who used to walk over the dragons and want that back thoroughly confuse me. You have your easy content elsewhere… Leave some hard content for people who want it.
Youre missing the point. The counterargument many are presenting here has nothing to do with the difficulty – and no one really makes that argument. Most people want these fights to be difficult.
The issue is the arbitrary number requirements that tilt the fight in favor of large population servers (and, subsequently, encourage bandwagonning and overguesting to those servers).
In the current environment, requiring 80+ semi-coordinated players means that only a couple of servers have the capabilities to do the fight – and everyone else is out of luck unless they guest or join a secondary guild (of strangers) dedicated to forcing overflows and downing the fight.
20 or 30 players should be the baseline – and it should scale from there. This would allow organized guilds to better plan events to tackle the fights and make it more accessible on every server – not just Blackgate or Desolation.
Again, it isnt about difficulty (we all want that). It is about accessibility to all with the current server population numbers/fluctuations taken into account.
That´s the thing. It´s pretty annoying when you do want to go to any area and you get kicked into an overflow because of an event that will occur hours later. It is especially disturbing if you´re running in a group and you get split up.
I don´t mind content like Teq, that is designed for huge groups. Even tho i haven´t done him ever. I think the suggestion about medium sized content is a valid one as well. But yes, there would be a problem with the scaling mechanics. I´m quite sure that people would still zerg it like mad.
But my suggestion for Anet is to simple sort out the problem with the overflow caused by guesting. While i do guest fairly regularly as well, i still think this may be a problem. For events like Teq or Jormag, there should be a way to favour “native” accounts and put those into a map before guested accounts.
This way you could avoid the frustration that results from people being forced into an overflow constantly, while they´re playing on their homeserver. At the same time you would also encourage people to try this content more regularly on their homeservers as well.
I think it´s be an easy and affordable way to ensure that a larger part of the community gets access to the content without having to rewrite the entire content.
I wasn’t referring to story details (I couldn’t care less actually). I want to know what new balance updates, improved mechanics etc will be included in the patch. Hints of them, not the whole patch notes, as was done a week before each previous update. That’s all. And this time the “read more” seemed like a freaking rip off.
Those updates aren´t included anyway. They´ll come in a special patch, which is released AFTER the current LS part 1 has finished. So it´ll be late March early April until there´s a patch that includes balance updates/mechanics/skill updates/trait updates.
But the devs already said that in all of those interviews, so having to have a look at those could have been helpful for you
What is needed for such big group events is that they address the issue with guesting. IMO accounts that have a server as their homeworld should be prioritized and because of that should be favored instead of guested accounts. I think this would solve quite a lot of whining about the overflow issue and would possibly lead to the less populated worlds doing that kind of stuff as well. In this case people couldn´t take up your slots anymore, couldn´t “steal” your loot and would be forced to organise their own community on their homeserver
Especially since, if I recalled correctly, these patches would last longer. Meaning that it would be quite a while before seeing any new significant changes or the next LS, which might be much of the same.
These updates will also only last 2 weeks.
But yes, i hope for some more “non-zerg” content as well
It´s mostly because this update will only consist out of those two bosses and a few gemstore items. Maybe a dialogue here or there as well, but there aren´t real changes to the gameplay with the next 4 updates. They already said that they´d save those for a big patch after the LS part 1
I´d say a chest, crafted by the molten alliance
I personally would very much prefer high end solo content. Something like the tower of nightmare end bit, just harder and more difficult.
I can´t see any real effort in zerging at all, no matter whether it´s “easy-mode”(Fire Elemental) or “hard-mode”(Tequatl). Both are still zerg targets and therefor pretty much uninteresting for me.
Scarlet is bad, we can all agree to that. But what caused her to turn from a knowledge seeking being, to a pirate leading villain?
But what we see of Ceara’s knowledge seeking, she always was dismissive of people, and tended to use people to further her studies rather than care about them. The change to “Scarlet Briar” just amplified all that from “quirky genius with no respect for authority” to “maniac who doesn’t care who she hurts in her efforts”.
She’s the same character at the root (heh) as she was before, just slightly twisted.
So basically, I could see her turning into an ally at the end of this arc. The story could unfold and enlighten players to her true motives. At that point, instead of killing her off, we would befriend her, and form a new alliance to fight not the dragons, but the real villain: Ellen Kiel.
See I knew this was going to get political at the end. Typical Gnashblade supporters . . . let’s just knock him out and take his keys. And then we can put an end to the evils of the Black Lion Trading Company gem exchange, share the wealth for all of Tyria, break open the vaults and let the precursors out.
(Oh stop complaining about the unicorns, someone had to get the Dreamer.)
After that’s finished, and the stalwart champions of Tyria are no longer denied the best possible gear they need to face the threats of the Dragons and their minions. After we reduce Jormag to snowcones, make sashimi out of Bubbles, and tie down Primordius and use him to light the biggest barbecue Tyria has ever seen . . .
After we shatter Kralkatorrik and use his crystals for a chandelier over a monument to Glint and Snaff.
Then Evon has my permission to die, and be literally dead broke.
That´s the best post regarding this update what so ever!
This is funny: I’m not a great player, but when I play warrior, I can kill any class (some it’s hard).. of course I die too (a lot lol). But, the most funny is: when I play with my elementalist, engineer or necro, especially the elementalist, I can destroy A LOT of warrios in WvW and sPvP. Like I said: I’m not a great player. This is more a L2P than a “Balance”. I think the hammer damage was exaggerated and ANet fixed this. Ok, everyone is happy now. People have to understand that some traits/skills are nice on paper (the numbers of warriors are great), the theory is cool, but applying it in game is more complex than just theorycrafting. If you look the numbers of my elementalist build you’ll laugh (and I’ll cry), but in game I do well with him.. Some warrior abilities are nice on theory, but just don’t work (this happen with every class). Ok, you can still QQ all day and I’ll still training to give you more reasons to QQ about my class LOL. Ty
That´s a fine point. There´s always a difference between theory and the final result.
I play either a warrior or an engi for most of the time and i can honestly say, that while my warrior gets destroyed quite a lot in PvP and WvW, my engi doesn´t have the problem.
And i don´t see where the warrior should be soooooo OP. MY engi has more mobility, more condi and at least the same amount of CC, as my warrior.
Yep it´s the same on Deso
Fyr Icepaw – Legionnair of the Ice warband, Blood Legion, 1st Northern Cohort
Seems like a heavy class.
The gauntlets were available on the gemstore for a while. Not sure if they still are.
The shoulders look like human cultural t2 to me.
But it´s not primeval from what i can see.
I don´t know about the rest of the armor, as i don´t play a human heavy class
As far as i am aware, every charr is part of their military. They all belong to warbands and the legions. So having that in mind it wouldn´t end well with the humans trying to backstab their treaty with the charr. Especially not now, as the legions have gathered new intel about possible war engineering due to the combined work within the pact.
So it could well be now that the humans wouldn´t be able anymore to keep the charr at bay in ebonhawke. And that again would end with the charr having acces to an asura gate that´d bring them straight into the heart of divinities reach.
I think it´s not needed to explain why the humans wouldn´t want that to happen.
But in general i think the charr were willing to accept the treaty as they know that it puts them even more into a power position.
I give you a 7/10 I love the brawler aspect of it, but i don´t think your gauntlets are matching the rest of your armor.
Mine is a mix of Temple armor, Vigil armor and t1 cultural. I dyed it with Winter ice and Blue Ice.
how are you using a water breather on land?
It´s not a water breather on land, rather a device to protect a snout from being frozen.
But besides that it is a skin that was introduced recently with the tower of nightmare releases. It´s called Air filtration device. You can buy them on the TP if you didn´t get one originally.
I give you a 7/10 I love the brawler aspect of it, but i don´t think your gauntlets are matching the rest of your armor.
Mine is a mix of Temple armor, Vigil armor and t1 cultural. I dyed it with Winter ice and Blue Ice.
7/10 I like the overall pattern in the name. And i have a general admiration to the fire type of names.
My Charr is called Fyr Icepaw
Proud leader of the Ice warband and the Vigil department of the Pact Forces.
She´s a female Warrior of the Blood Legion.
Her first name Fyr is an old norse word for Fire and shows her relentless force that drives her in battle.
The name of her warband arose out of their duties to guard the north-western borders close to the far shiverpeaks. And so they always got into contact with the snow and ice, making it their secondary home, right after the famous taverns of the Black Citadel.
In there she´s perfectly suited with her white fur, with grey stripes. She will burst out of a blizzard and bring fury and wrath to the enemies of the charr. No matter what cost, her warband and the legions will always stand on top. Not even a barrel of whiskey could come close to that.
I will now finally post here as well.
Since the pre-start of GW2 i used to play together with my friend and guild mate. We started to create our own guild, working on it, because we wanted the freedom of not belonging to a bigger group with requirements.
While i always and still say that MF doesn´t make a big difference, my friend used a lot of MF gear on the first character.
The point is, that it did make a difference in the first 2 months of the game. While i had to struggle on the first 2 level 80 characters to get any useful gear, that wasn´t crafted, my friend used to get exotic equipment drops farily regularly.
But someting changed. For nearly 6 weeks, so the time since the November update, We got only a handful rares and not a single exotic drop anymore.
And the most significant change is, that now i am the one who gets the better drops. I get nearly 3 times more rare drops than my friend, which makes me wonder why. It could be that my account isn´t one of the unlucky accounts. And still i can now tell, that the amount of equipment drops are getting worse. A few days ago i created a new character, while my friend supports on a level 30 mesmer. While we´re playing our way through the Norn starter area, the best equipment i got so far, is a crafted set. I only made it to level 10 so far, but still. We managed to complete Wayfarer Foothills, as we wanted to rewards for map completion.
It´s not that someone could say, we´re grinding only one map for all of the time. Together we got 6 characters to level 80. And we didn´t level them all at the same time, so we did change the maps from time to time.
We have never been farming a lot, even if it may be needed to do so, to get the legendary weapons we want.
But within the first month my friend and me collected enough money to purchase the 2000 gems in the ingame store for the deluxe edition upgrade. We only got this upgrade for my account, as i was unable to find a retailer that sold me one, but that´s another story. Fact is, we collected more than 18g in the first month after the game release.
But i witness that the amount of drops and especially income is getting lower with each update. I will have to try it with todays update, but i´m pretty sure that it will follow this “tradition”.
It may be a nice thing if you can get nice amount of drops in Dungeons and especially in FotM. But for players, like me and my mate, who usually aren´t invited to dungeon groups, it´s getting fairly hard to obtain any real valuable drops at all nowadays.
But it´s hard enough for the two of us, as we´re playing together with having a 9 hours time difference in RL. So most of the time either one of us is fairly tired and not necessarily able to concentrate enough for a Dungeon. That´s why we only got two Dungeons done until today.
Yesterday we completed the Story mode of the Arah Dungeon. Both of us haven´t had any MF gear equipped anymore.
In total we got:
Exotic equipment: none
Rare equipment: 1 drop from a chest
Green equipment: 11 drops from lootable monsters, no champions or chests
Blue euqipment: 31 from lootable monsters, champions and chests.
White equipment: 17 from lootable monsters, no champions or chests
Grey items (junk) : 248 from lootable monsters and champions
Money from drops: 17s56c in total
Money in total after merch: 31s21c
The money we earned was shared by both of us.
I agree with all the players that say it´s not fair if someone leaves a dungeon group before finishing it. It´s neither fair for the player that has to leave, as he doesn´t get rewarded for his hard work, nor is it fair for the group, that has to struggle even moe afterwards. That´s the reason why we usually don´t join bigger groups. But most of the dungeons aren´t really enjoyable for only us, as the repair fees are definitely higher than the dropped income.
I was waiting for the release of GW2 from the very first moment of it´s announcement and i was really excited when it was released. But from the first steps of our characters to now, the excitement had to make room for the disappointment. We´re also currently looking for a new game, which we could enjoy together, and as soon as we found one, we´ll sadly leave GW2 behind. As it gets to hard to get enough money to enjoy the game fully.
And from the players we knew in GW1, only 3 are remaining in GW2. about 90% of them already left the game, which makes it even harder to take part in the content, that requires bigger groups.
If i have to worry if i can pay the repair fees and the costs for the Waypoint mapping then it´s no fun anymore. At that point the game became work and lost a lot of the enjoyable abilities.
