Yes please. Though you might want to change the title of this topic. Extra hotbars, no… I don’t want this to become wow. But a item belt bar would be SO necessary in my opinion. The way it is now is a nightmare :p all we need are 3-5 slots and it would make the game so much better.

Guilds as a whole need a lot of feature love. But yes, time last on, time last representing, stats like that help you govern a guild.

Well they already half have it working Illconceived. In events, mobs spawn some where around a corner where you can’t see them, then jog, invulnerable until they arrive to be slaughtered. I like this method though don’t care so much for the invulnerability. (I hate shortcuts like that :P invulnerability, invisible walls, bleh.)

Visibility problems

Biggest problem I have with events and dungeons right now is visibility. For starters many dungeons are filled with color, effects, and other things that may slow down a person’s game. I’ve got a high end rig and even my computer loses about 15 FPS when I go in to the battle for ascalon fractal.
In the grawl fractal the redness of EVERYTHING makes it really hard to make out. Human eyes are not designed to distinguish detail in red light, there is very little contrast. Blue and green on the other hand we can see contrast much better. So in that area I frequently do not see aoe rings, or miss other visual queues. Some times target the wrong enemy.
Then the biggest problem, and the reason for this post. All player and enemy based particle effects, while pretty, are occluding usability. Many bosses require timing and watching to know when to dodge. But frequently, say if I’m with an elementalist or other particle spam happy class I cannot even SEE the boss.

Dredge fractal miniboss is a great example. He can one shot you with his aoe line attack, you can only avoid it if you see him lift his mace. I have frequently died to it because my friend’s particle effects and number of enemeies were so dense I couldn’t even see the boss.

Increasing the opacity of many of these effects would go a long way toward helping, shrinking down many of them would also help. Give them a maximum scale. On my ranger, my summoned hawks (warhorn 4) scale with the size of the mob.. some times they get absurdly large and can make it hard to see.

The last thing that really should be looked at. Again many monsters have visual cues suggesting when they are going to do something. Then they also have flinching animations. These flinching animations I frequently mistake for the visual cue. Again the dredge miniboss is a great example, he flails backwards when hit, some times repeatedly, a few times a second. This animation isn’t that different from raising his mace so unless I’m paying really close attention, I might not notice. Perhaps make the flinching animations less dramatic.

Add Gems as Rewards?

Gems are pure and simple about funding the future of guildwars 2. Right now that isn’t much of a problem, they are still selling quite well I’m sure… but in a year? in five years?
Giving away freebies already hppens.. they give you black lion keys and many other items… giving away gems on the other hand… they are account bound, meaning you could create a character, complete a quick map, delete character, make character complete map.. and so on.
I love getting free stuff, but I also want guildwars 2 to be funded for years to come.

best solution in my opinion:
All enemies are spaced farther apart, unless they are intending to block or guard something. Set them as a group unit. if the unit is in combat (even if only one of them were pulled) none will respawn until all are out of combat and at least one is still alive.
After the group is killed, then set a timer based on zone population with a minimum respawn time of like 15s or such.
Respawning should also happen by a more natural method… they come from somewhere, don’t just make them appear.

Dyes - Make them account bound already!

Personally I want Anet to make money. That way they can keep putting out content. :P I get bored with a game when I don’t have something new to do. I quit for a month.. then came back for halloween, then quit until shortly after the shores event (was busy during the event sadly :< ) But holy hell do I love the fractals.

I’m with Apathy here..
After the 7th wipe on the imbued shaman boss in the grawl fractal… I had to go. They were the worst group I’ve played with, and I wasn’t going to waste my time letting them figure out that it was impossible for them.

A better fix would be making drop recovery better.
If some one leaves, let us bring in another friend or another random pug. (or if they return, let them back in the kitten dungeon. My friend bluescreened the other night, at the last boss on the third dungeon of a fractal run…. we couldn’t beat it with only 4 and he couldn’t get back in. When he logged in he was back in lions arch. We were SOL

Artificing is worse I think… soft wood being a particularly sticky point… to give you an example.. i think its 40 softwood logs per staff. That is freaking insane for such a low level item. X.x

The others arn’t quite that bad thankfully, but still, what a kitten.

This is why we can’t have nice things.
Some of this is down right whining…
The point of a legendary is to be difficult, same as many of the achievements. It is DIFFICULT, few people will get it… The halloween jumping puzzle is a great example, it was intended that only 5% of the population complete it. But then for some reason these kids are demanding that they should be able to complete it too easily…
I’m sorry, but that isn’t “Fair”. Difficult things are their own reward, if you don’t have the time or patience to complete it… then DON’T.. go do what is fun in the game, enjoy your time.. use exotics, they are nearly as good and no one is going to care in a dungeon or in PVP which sword you have.

Remember this is part of a holiday event which should be easy fun and rewarding.

Why exactly should this be ‘easy’ ‘fun’ and ‘rewarding’?
I never signed up for easy, fun is relative, and rewarding is in the eye of the beholder.
I had fun even though it took me 4 or 5 hours before i managed to complete the clocktower. Sure I put it down in frustration the first night, then came back to it the next day and beat it within an hour (with some help from friends). Then beat it 11 more times on multiple different characters.
It was rewarding, all 4 of my characters have the boots, I have the achievement. I don’t need anymore reward than that.
I felt like I accomplished something, and the challenge was the most fun i’ve had in a video game in ages.

Easy is generally antonymous to reward in either case… so I don’t understand your position.

Though I have to agree completely that it should have been a solo or small group thing..
or if everyone had their own timer, so you could wait for some one to get a little ways ahead before starting your own.

and lastly.. its an ‘achievement’ meaning you have to achieve something. I suppose its the fault of the achievement system in most games, so many stupid achievements handed to you on a platter that they don’t mean anything… but this one does, this clocktower achievement is worth more than most of the achievements I’ve gotten simply because I had to work, learn, and become BETTER.

As one of the few who is terrible at jumping puzzles but has actually completed the clocktower… (my hands shake too much to make them easy)
This was the best puzzle i’ve played, It was frustrating, it was difficult, it was unforgiving… it was a challenge worthy of the playerbase and the dev team. You guys showed your colors here. The prize wasn’t necessary, all it was was a semi-decent pair of boots and an achievement. Anyone who is pissed off that they didn’t get it should have tried harder.
I do not want guildwars to turn in to “my first mmo” like WoW did.
Not to push too hard on the subject, but I played that back in the first month, it was brutal, unforgiving, and downright frustrating. The bugs were so bad it made it almost unplayable in places and the “Features” made me want to commit sepuku. Then by the time I hit lvl 60, six or so months later all that was ironed out, and we had a difficult, fun, and challenging experience. Mages and Hunters could now autoattack at range. (no more broken 1 keys :P) But in raids, it was still difficult, you needed 40 people who could work together well… this meant alot of deaths, alot of frustration, but the rewards were great. Look at it today, no “Raids” over 10 man as far as I’m aware (havn’t played since wrath), the difficulty curve is mostly flat, a little bump for hardcore.

As for guildwars 2, there are two games here, there is the normal semi-flat difficulty curve of the main story, few bumpy places, then a sharp curve upwards toward lvl 70. But then there is the steep cliff of dungeons. To me this jumping puzzle was the same thing, a huge difficulty jump that filtered out the casual players from the OCD dedicated :P

Were there problems with the puzzle? of course, I doubt you guys had time to iron out the issues before it was released. Certainly the camera work could have been fixed, strangely enough my asura had it hardest… Moving up to any little edge would suddenly zoom the camera in through my head so I had no idea where I was jumping. But with some practice i was able to jump without my camera, turned the shoddy collision detection in to a challenge and overcame it. (I also taught others to do the same, and guess what, they figured it out!)

Most of the problems we had with the puzzle were NOT a fault of the puzzle, but a fault of the engine at large, its buggy collision detection, the shoddy camera, and so forth.

The few things I would have changed with the puzzle, is of course everyone going at once… Really should have been a personal buff.. that you had to reach certain checkpoints to recharge the buff. IF the buff dropped while you were in there, you died. Also the part where it makes you wait for the clock tower to rupture out and make a pathway was silly, just broke the flow of movement and forced everyone to group up. I frequently pulled out ahead, and would have done fine if not for that, because suddenly as an asura I couldn’t see myself. XD

Also to anyone who might point at asura’s having an “Easy” time…
After I figured it out, I finished it in one try on my Charr next, some 30 or 40 tries on my Norn, 2 tries on my sylvari. And then when I went back to run it again on my asura, it was still stupidly difficult. My norn was just impossible, never seemed to land where I told it to land, like its feet weren’t where I saw them and constantly collided with things that didn’t exist.

Now, the fact that you had to run constantly, not stop for anything, and had to learn by trial and error? that was genius, that was the best jumping puzzle I’ve seen in there because of it. It felt closer to Parkour… I want to see more like that, alot more like that. With a few fixes to the physics and camera I think it could be freaking amazing. (Also potentially with being able to ‘grab’ walls and things as you land near the top and pull yourself up. Landing on the side of something and just slowly sliding down or bunny hopping up, is kinda silly.. If I can get up, let me get up.. just slow me down a little for not landing properly.)

TL;DR: Amazing work, pity about the mechanics, this is worthy of an achievement more than any other puzzle in the game. I hope to see more in the future!

/rant

P.S. Moar Plz! :O

P.P.S. as for those not wanting an achievement for this… It IS AN ACHIEVEMENT.. thats the point I think. This is difficult, it better kitten well have an achievement. :P getting an achievement for hitting 100 mobs with your dagger is a lame achievement.

Lornar’s pass was like that yesterday, half the DE were bugged, one of the skill point challenges… the NPC was embedded in the ground where you couldn’t reach her. :P
this will be fixed in time I’m sure. All in all this has been a fairly smooth release. You should have seen the trouble with WoW.
Originally there was no ranged auto-attacking, and I started as a hunter XD talk about a pain in the finger.

Unpleasant lvling experience, so very very few Dynamic Events...

No offense, but do some research.
There are SO MANY events, every zone is filled to the brim. The reason the low level zones have so many going on, is because there are so many people poking every NPC, stepping in every corner, doing random things in random places.
Most events are NOT on a timer, meaning you have to do something to trigger them. So if the zone is mostly empty since most people are low level, then the events are sparse.

Also, a few events have been bugging out seriously (past two days a pile of the events in Lornar’s Pass were uncompletible).

So if you arn’t seeing alot of events, start poking NPCs, stones, altars, what have you. go find them.
I’ve got a lvl 80 ranger, lvl 43 warrior, and lvl 22 engineer… I have NEVER run out of things to do. There are still zones I haven’t completely explored and certainly events I’ve never seen.

I agree that waypoints are a bit expensive at later levels, especially considering how little silver you make… spending 1-4s per teleport is painful. Repairs are even worse, especially when doing dungeons. However I went in to AC earlier today, with 10s, left with 50s, and died probably 2 or 3 dozen times :p repaired at least half as many times. at close to 1s per item repaired (was my warrior).
