They just admitted on live stream that they are nerfing movement speed because they felt that 1. people were moving around maps too fast, and 2. people were exploiting to get outside of maps.

Honestly, the Zhaitan fight. The whole flying on an airship, shooting at this giant dragon with rockets, holding the deck against waves of undead, the firework display and the pretty ‘fear not this night’ playing at the end. I really thought to myself, ‘THIS is how the ending of an epic fantasy game should be.’

I literally got the mini yesterday. The only real one you might have trouble with is the “Stay Cool” achievement because it’s incredibly buggy and doesn’t always work as intended. I made lots of threads about this for reference.

It’s bugged to pieces, I don’t know what triggered it but I thought I’d post here so people can see what I did to get it.

Maybe you can’t be counted for the achievement if you hang back from the room. There is probably a trigger here involving you entering an area and staying there, or getting involved in combat (less likely)

This is correct. You cannot remain outside the room the entire time. (I don’t remember how it works exactly, only that we restarted a few times to get the chieve for a few guildies.)

PS it’s not “blocking progress” for the game to make it hard to leech an achievement. (I have nothing against leeching — I help people do it all the time — I just don’t think the game needs to make it easy or even possible.)

I’ve done it inside and outside the room, while running the oozes and while just kiting the fire elementals, with and without mini pets, with a thief, guardian, and engineer. It’s BROKEN. Seeing as there have been multiple threads on this for months and multiple reports and it’s blocking progress, can we please get a response from ANET?

This happened to my dungeon group too a couple months back, not sure what fixed it really, but after running it daily both my ele friend and I got the achievement randomly. We had both tried standing outside of the room while others completed it, waiting at the waypoint, etc. Nothing worked. Super buggy!

Yup, I’ve done it on three professions now: engi, thief, guard. Tried with and without mini pet. Tried standing out of the room, tried killing the orange lava eles, tried running the ooze. Beat it in every possible combination one can think of and still haven’t gotten the achievement. I even tried logging off after both oozes were in the treads and logging back on before the door opened to “reset” any burning I might have invisibly taken, and nothing worked. Last achievement I need for the meta. ANET fix plz.

Hi,

The achievement “Stay Cool” in TA: Aetherpath does not work. I paid 4 people 2 gold each to do the ooze part for me, and did not get the achievement. This is preventing progress in the game. I cannot complete the meta achievement and get the mini clockheart without this achievement. If the fantastic dungeon team could please fix it, I would appreciate it. See the attached SS for proof.

Alright boys and girls, I paid 4 people 2G each to complete this event for me, while I never entered the room. They beat it, I didn’t get the achievement. As you can see in my screenshot, my combat log registered no burning and I definitely didn’t get the fire buff. Also, another party member said that’s how he got his achievement, so it’s not like I had to be in the room for it to work. Now that I’ve wasted 8G testing ANET’s buggy game with nothing to show for it, please Robert Hrouda, fix this.

PRISTINE RELICS FINALLY IN THE WALLET! Rising Dusk, does this mean they’ll be updating the fractal vendor to actually take the pristines?

As far as the other changes go: bleh.

They’re nerfing engineer grenade range, nerfing engineer leaps… everything that makes the engineer fun and unique. But hey, now the meta engi build might change. 2k of our dps was from bleeds right? Well, they’re nerfing that too without condition damage, so maybe now we’ll be forced to get some condition damage gear.

Might as well call us necromancers.

Terrible, just terrible. Nerfing grenade range, nerfing the super speed leap… basically nerfing everything that makes the engineer unique.

Buffing conditions though! WOO! Might as well call us Necromancers.

The aetherpath achievement “Stay Cool” is bugged. I made sure to not touch the fire, we beat the event, I didn’t get the achievement. My group had the same experience. If Mr. Hrouda or anyone else on the dungeon team could take a look, it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

There’s no question about whether or not the dungeon community is atrocious, it goes without saying; everyone I talked to in the game, when on the subject of dungeons, says they avoid them because of the community…

I only do dungeons. I pug 99% of the time, on an engineer. I have no problems, and people are nice. The dungeon community provides helping guilds, guides, community record keeping, other advice when needed.

Everyone I talk to in game says they love dungeons because of the community. There’s no question about whether or not the dungeon community is awesome, it goes without saying.

“achievements” in GW2 to me are normally just grindy borefests so I never bother with them really. it’s why I have absolute jack all for AP when most of the people in my friends list have like 15k+ because for some reason the game is full of people mad enough to do “collect 50 <insert item here>” crap.

Well, yeah, I don’t do them either. But my point is that it was challenging (at least for me) and that’s why I think Liadri was challenging content. She was a little challenging at first (unless you’re Westhospu who put out that 5 second full zerk kill video in which case she may have been easy for you from the start,) but the real challenge IMO was in throwing those 7 or 8 orbs and then killing her before time ran out. It was a game of attrition and it was a challenge for me.

Also wtf 600 seconds (10 minutes) flood control?

i don’t understand why liadri is held up as some sort of pinnacle of challenge

like it honestly wasn’t even hard to get the mini, you even had people picking up lifesteal food and literally killing her with lifesteal procs since she had no hp.

The 7 (or was it 8?) orb achievement was some of the most fun I’ve had in the game though.

Simply put: we haven’t announced it yet – when we’re ready to show everything about our plans for challenging content for HoT, we’ll announce it.

Though it isn’t the “challenging content” feature discussed in our announcement – I will add we want our open world content experience to be more challenging as well just in general. Though the AI was better in our CBT experience – we think we still have a lot of work to do to get our creatures and encounters even at the start of Verdant Brink up to where we want them to be. Our game has great combat, our creatures and encounters should challenge and require you to use that combat system.

I’d consider the following challenging content in this game:

-Arah
-High level Fractals
-Liadri
-Candidate Trials Tier 4 as a Group

Other people might consider Aetherpath to be hard, but I think it’s gimmicky and that’s different than challenging.

Other people might consider Wurm and Teq hard, but I think the challenge lies more in herding a zerg so you can harness the power of the autoattack. It’s coordination in movement, not in using the game’s combat mechanics. Maybe there’s a bit of this in the benefit of condition classes against husks, but it’s really minimal.

This game lacks content that really forces a team to utilize different elements of the game’s combat system to accomplish a goal. There is little content that forces people to synergize classes, to know fields and finishers, to demand that each individual be competent. I think this is what people are looking for. Something that keeps people at the edge of their toes, that makes timing of skill execution important, and type of skill execution important. Something beyond zerg autos.

As I said above, the content that gets closest to that ideal is Arah, high level fractals, Liadri, and that Candidate Trials event (which I don’t think any full group managed to beat.)

Something like DoA, FoW, UW, with varied goals, roles for individuals (NO, NOT TRINITY ROLES), and required group coordination beyond superficial zerging would be welcomed.

I swear, every time I think about logging in to do dungeons, somebody posts something that reminds me how bad an experience it is these days. I seriously didn’t think it would have actually gotten worse while I’ve been away :/

When I’m bored, sometimes I will join a group of complete first timers and carry them through Arah. To make it more fun, I limit myself to no chat, only emotes. (/e emotes aren’t allowed) I usually do this with path 4, but today I was only able to find a p1/2 group, but it was still pretty interesting..

For starters, they didn’t even know about the detonator to blow up the mobs. In path 1, when I killed them they thought I did some crazy move to kill them all (this is after soloing Ooze/Champs after they all wiped). They didn’t learn about the button until path 2…

Also, somewhere along the way, I picked up the nickname “Legendary Mime Unicorn Thief.” I like it.

Wurm and Teq should have been instanced. The only reason that kind of content isn’t good is because it’s open world and there is no way to get a guild group in a clean map without a zillion people on TS map hopping everywhere. That means to get in, even if you’re in a guild like TTS, you have to wait 15-30 minutes at least. Why? What’s the point? It’s a waste of time, and the end result is the same as if it were instanced to start: non-guild members get excluded because they can’t teleport into the map before it’s full.

It seems like ANET isn’t going to be making any more dungeons but will just be focusing on minor bug fixes and Fractals. Any instanced Zerg content should be like Teq or Wurm but give parties more control of how to enter the map and when to start the event.

Unyielding Anguish is going to make open world or random pugs really miserable with them teleporting mobs around everywhere randomly.

Their teleport location can be “aimed”, but random Revenants aren’t going to do that. They’re going to just displace big piles of mobs away out of everyone’s AoE. It’s like the ranger longbow knockback but a million times worse.

Hmm, wonder if people can use this to troll others. Could be fun.

I think the only part of the game wherein necromancers are really bad is dungeons. Anet doesn’t care about dungeons, so maybe they don’t even see a problem? Necros can play decently in pvp, wvw, and open world.

Absolutely. It’s easy to get 20g in SW and then pay your way to rewards in other content that you’re not good enough to do yourself.

Especially since you could earn 20 gold in silverwastes before finishing a fotm 50 w/ a bad pug.

People are aware that if they would allow buying the expansion with gems the gold to gem transfer would be more or less destroyed for quite some time, right?
The price would be so extremely high so that no one would really be able to use it.

I think it’d be an interesting experiment. I mean if you could buy 1000 gold for $10 worth of gems (800), I bet a LOT of people would do it to get legendaries and other items like that, which might offset the huge increase in gold/gem ratio that would result if they put HoT in the gem store.

- HP stacking isn’t significant enough. A full Nomad set should make you unable to kill anything and unable to be killed at all by a single player or NPC. Instead, it makes you unable to kill anything and able to be killed by anything.

Are we even playing the same game? Have you seen what Nomad’s gear does?

There are very few one shot mechanics in this game, even in zerk gear. While it’s true healing power wouldn’t save you from one shots, it would save you from downing in nearly every encounter in the game, which is why people can basically afk lupicis or facetank Mossman.

How about instead buffing healing power? So i finally has some meaning. As it stand in this game, if you trade raw power for toughness, healing power or anything other you always make a poor trade. The amount of defense gained in relation to the amount of power/dmg lost is in no relation. And i’m not taling about 1:1 translation.

By the way give guardian +400 healing power baseline ( why? that’s too much? as if it would have any meaningfull impact in it’s current state). After all, that`s the class most people would think of when they where ask, who the “healer” class ingame would be or who would benefit the most of it.

Healing power completely trivializes the hardest content in this game. It doesn’t need a buff.

Oh definitely. That’s why every single person who runs fractals, dungeons, and world bosses stacks healing power.

Not everyone seeks to trivialize content, instead they’d rather have fun, do it quicker, and find a little enjoyment in it.

What do you want healing power to be? Invulnerability tier? It’s close to that already… You can facetank mossman or lupi if you want. Why do you want to make it stronger? Do you hate PvP or something?

Wrong, what he said was completely relevant. Healing power is op, and the reason why no one uses it in dungeons is because it’s so boring, as he noted.
