Do you think you are entitled to Legendary or something? Not sure what Anet’s percentile for the highest tier is in matchmaking, but in most other competitive PvP scenes the top 1% make it to the highest rank (Legendary in GW2) which means maybe 1 of all you whiners gets to legendary. And that’s how it should be. Legendary should be reserved for ESL players, twitch streamers, and players who really devote themselves to studying the game and actively trying to make themselves a better player. If you’re complaining about pugs vs premades, fighting other legendaries, or classes being OP, you’re not cut out for legendary. Personally I would still like to see even less legendaries in future seasons, which I think will happen after this season because so many of you are finally hitting the wall at ruby and diamond. Say it’s luck all you want but people who are supposed to be in Legendary are having no trouble getting there. And there are fewer and fewer people in Legendary who shouldn’t be there.
P.S. if you’re only queuing ranked for the wings, then stop complaining on the forums about everything. And if you have a 30% win-rate then you need to adjust your play-style.
I’m hungry, what’s a good late night snack?
In this build, the druid will be almost evenly functional with or without weapon.
Lol no that warrior is just terrible
yeah when you only run conditions, you’re not gonna pressure down a druid with tons of condi clear, they are balanced. Heavy cc destroys them. Pet damage needs a little toned down but not in this meta. If we had more zerker builds that were actually viable pet damage would need toned down. Also the warrior in this twitch stream isn’t even good, if you can’t kill a druid with no weapon you are bad at the game. I take down other druids all the time, it’s really not that hard.
Not a Youtube Personality, I have zero problem with anything you listed. You should probably play like 1000 more PvP games then come back and post on the forums.
How do? I can’t out sustain it, if I run a class that can, I lose the mobility to catch the Mesmer when they run away to reset. Power builds just flat out lose because they don’t have the condi clear to keep up with that kind of pressure. Does necro beat it? I can’t kill it on condi warrior, it just kites me forever. On druid I can force it to run, but I don’t have an answer to their stealth reset. What do?
Dunno how it is with necro but for sure mercenery amu is a must have for mesmers, not because it is condi amu but because it is hybrid amulet. Yes meta mesmer is a hybrid build, and it is only condi class that don’t have any passive critical hit condi aplication.
Also mercenary is only amulet that give U thougness and vitality with big buff to condi.
And no this amu need to stay, it bring some more diversity. Now they need to give us some good amu for power based builds because there a lack of it in game.
is it not the same as paladin in direct damage ?
it is, but you’re getting that direct damage on top of your huge condi damage. If you’re playing paladin’s you hit like a wet noodle. Druid only seems really strong using it because the pet’s do 70% of the dps to your target, but if you avoid the two pet bursts you can basically just stand there and not take damage from the druid.
Amulet is not the problem here. If mercenary was OP then every class would use it.
If you want to continue deleting amulets then we might as well delete them all cus they are all op going by this logic. Tone down the classes that overperforms using this amulet as they are broken at core (hi mes cough cough)
But I don’t think they are broken, I think necro is fine the way it is right now and all Mesmer needs is a moa fix, sure condi mes is super good in a 1v1 but its really bad in teamfights. I think mercenary just makes them both too tanky so a bad player profits more than they should from them, it doesn’t teach a bad player that they have to dodge/kite/etc when running a damage build. They can afford to just get hit by everything. And this is the only amulet I see condition classes running now.

But if everyone is using it…there is no diversity. Power builds either run Paladins for a more sustained approach or Mauraders for a burst approach, or Berserkers for a super burst approach and super high risk
This is exactly like last meta where a Maurader Scrapper could 1v3 and do the same dps as a power class. Only it’s now conditions
I legit have to land like 4 dps rotations in a row on them running a Maurader’s class Where either of those classes have to land approx 1.5 to down me. Is this fun/fair game design?
It’s not that its practical, it’s that certain classes are benefiting way to hard from it i.e Necro and Condi Mesmer. For as much dps as those two classes put out they should not be near invincible. Both of them can legit face tank an entire burst from a Power Class and have enough survivability to outsustain or keep equal with a Druid. Why should you get the best of both worlds? If you ask me this makes for very un-fun gameplay that doesn’t reward skilled play at all. If I’m on a power class and I dodge the necro’s marks and evade/kite all of this reaper shroud while landing every single one of my damage skills. Shouldn’t I win that matchup right then an there?
Or a rev on your team is just giving your perma fury?
Or you are using combo fields to give yourself fury?
Or any other class on your team is using combo fields to give you fury?
But most power builds have perma fury?
Let’s not keep killing play styles due to improper balance… Vipers do WAY more damage than Mercenaries (which aren’t that tanky, just a bit), the reason hardly anyone runs vipers is because there is so much removal and people get blown up by power damage without some toughness…
In reality there is a relatively healthy mix of build types, removing this Amulet serves no purpose other than trying to remove conditions from PvP because people can’t wrap their heads around them. Sorry, but this is just silly now…
Yes but vipers does only a small percent more damage than Mercenary so why is it fair that mercenary so much tankier and does basically the same DPS? If you get blown away by a power build running a burst condi build, they outplayed you. Why should a power build win against certain burst condi builds by outplaying them?
No precision. That makes a whole lot of difference. Some builds or classes do not have access to perma fury.

So the more I queue the more and more I see condition builds. Which is fine you should be able to run condition builds. But if you’re going to do as much DPS in just as much time as a class running Berzerker’s or Maurader’s you need to be able to die. In my opinion Mercenary amulet is making condi classes (Necro more than others because of how DS scales) a little too strong.
I’m not ESL material but I do consider myself semi-pro with over 5k games played and typically getting queued with and against semi-pro and ESL players and holding my own against them. So I like to think that I can offer some reasonable insight to the health of PvP.
Now I think a lot of the condi builds showing up would have more counter play from power builds if you removed Mercenary amulet. Hence bringing more variety to the game. If you want to run a condi build you should be able to, but the only counter play shouldn’t be “bring 20 condition removals and hope you can out sustain them”.
I’ve fought some pretty inexperienced players on my power builds who were running Mercenary amulet. I’ll be frank if you get hit by literally every single skill on a power class, and you yourself are playing a damage dealer. You should be dead. As it is currently that doesn’t happen, especially if you play Necro because of the vitality boost Mercenary amulet gives their Deathshroud.
Carrion and Rabid amulets are fine because they only give you that one defensive stat with condition damage and some other offensive stat, Mercenary is not because the Toughness and Vitality synergize so well with each other that you get a huge boost to your survivability while still getting near full condition damage and a pretty significant power damage boost. With all the fury flying around you are still going to crit things for like 1.2k which adds up super quick over the course of a fight on top of all your conditions ticking.
TLDR: If you remove Mercanary amulet I think more power builds would be viable to all the condi builds showing up. If you want burst condi you should have to run vipers/sinister. If you want sustain condi pressure you should have to run rabid/carrion. Mercenary is doing the best of both so everyone is using it.
Hi Arenanet, I just wanted to let you know how I feel about the state of PvP like everyone else on this forum.
I give matchmaking a week to settle out, maybe two, and it should be fine. Good job with that.
Balance is still a major problem, if you don’t do something about you’re entire PvP player base is going to die from high blood pressure from an excess amount of sodium.
Yup pretty much sums it up.
P.S. My body is ready for the comments. I have lots of bananas.
What happened to all the high tier solo players, twitch streamers, Academy Gaming teams etc?? I normally got queued with people from Apex, or Radioactive, Team PZ, occasionally people from the Abjured and just other players of that caliber. Did they all just quit because anet can’t get their pvp act together? Seems all that’s left are the ESL teams who just do private scrimmages.
Necro has never bin in a good position, tho they may gonna abit overboard on Corrupts Necro/Reaper deserve some time in Meta. And u can counter a Reaper.
Alright then please tell me what currently counters a reaper? Diamond skin ele was about the only thing before that could 1v1 it, druid as well. However with the changes its an extremely hard 1v1 for druid and ele simply cant do it. In team fights it just corrupts the boons of everything around it and is tanky enough now to deal with the pressure.
Every class has access to boon spam, only necro has access to this many boon corrupts. If every class had 9 boon corrupts then fine we can have a boon-less meta
that’s not a bad position, that means the class is at least playable, plus with bunker mesmer nerfed to the point that the entire class is no longer playable, and the change to diamond skin your class effectively got buffed without any changes to it
I forgot about the other passive signet traits and Vamp Signet, so you actually have even more boon corrupts
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Putrid_Curse
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Spinal_Shivers
+
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Chill_of_Death
and then lets throw our 3 signets in there with our boon corrupt trait
thats ~9 boon corrupts every 20 seconds, and 1 boon corrupt every 1.5 seconds from your scepter auto so now your target doesn’t only have no boons they have about 12k dps worth of conditions on them that they have to clear and you didn’t even have to go into your death shroud or use the other 4 of your weapon skills, or anything in you alt weapon set.
Your target is now either dead, or has used their heal and all their condi clears and probably an evade or two. You know go into your death shroud or just use staff ect. and put that many condis on them again.
If your target is somehow still alive you probably messed up, but no worries all your boon corrupts are now off cooldown so we can just repeat the process.
Is this really healthy for the game anet? No offense to people who play minion master but like this change is rewarding your build way more than it should, its basically turret engi 2.0. Was necro even in a bad position at all before the patch? Last I checked they were in the meta and doing quite well, I really don’t think they needed this large of a buff.
So by balance you mean completely killing off mesmer, necro is allowed to have boon corrupt on every single skill, and thieves can have 6k auto attacks?
Yup game is balanced
you do realize team Faded plays in ESL cups right?
What are you talking about? Are you seriously so ignorant that you can’t open your finisher tab and equip your old finisher….what a waste of a post
Hello all I’m the PvP officer of RISE. We’re looking for a thief to climb the guild PvP leaderboards with us when HoT drops. And in the meantime we are also looking to continue doing the weekly AG cups. If you’re a thief who enjoys competitive high tier play in a friendly environment and feel as if you could fit in well with this guild we would love, love, love, need, need, need to have you
So after my recent success of running turret engineer solo, I decided it would be even better to just queue with 5 turret engineers. I grabbed some buddies of mine and we proceeded to start a match on Legacy of the Foefire. We quickly ran to all 3 points dropped our turrets and then proceed to make better use of our time by playing the greatest MMO in the history of the universe, “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 17.” After some quality n00b stomping in CoD we came back to our PvP match to see how we were doing.
The score was 498-0 and we were just about to win with our 3 cap. When all of a sudden we heard “The Blue Lord has been slain!” All of us were baffled as to how that happened as we were all just AFK on points. However upon closer examination of the combat log it made sense. Turns out Rocket Turrets can heat-seek across the map to kill the lord…and everything else. We had a final score of 650-0 and I had 17 kills.
Only reason I edited it before, was cause I miss hit the enter key Q_Q, game is hard.
*I’ve never
*queued up
*never seen a troll
^Lost to me while I was afk
So I heard turret engineer was really good so I thought I would give it a go for a game. The game starts, I go to mid, drop all my turrets. Then all of a sudden a wave of rapid bowel movement comes over me and I find myself leaving my computer desk clenching my butt cheeks as I run to the bathroom too keep poop from going everywhere (probably due to the 24 cups of coffee I had consumed earlier). After wiping frantically I quickly returned to my PvP match before I was kicked for inactivity.
Upon my return there was a mound of enemy corpses around my AFK self. My turrets had annihilated the opposing team. My team had taken the liberty of just AFK-ing in the base because they said that I was strong enough to fight the entire enemy team alone. They were not wrong. We won 500-0

Cause leaderboards are based on a point system. You can be top 100 with 96 losses and 30 wins if you want, you just have to play a lot
I think it’s lame how rangers can only dual wield axes, I think we should really be able to dual wield longbows as well. And if while dual wielding longbows your projectiles turned into greatswords that would be great.
I dont have enough games played to give a valid statement,
but i heard “partying with 3x is optimal”.
Youre not likely to be matched against other full 5x teams , you risk only 2 other players being noobs and you are not punished very hard to be put against a super pug.
See that is like the exact opposite from what I witnessed. Any time we had 3 or 4 we got demolished.
Which makes sense Justin, when I was duo queuing we won a lot of our games played. However is there a way for you to only look at 3 or more queuing? That was when I encountered the majority of problems. Looking at games where I was in a party of 3 or more I should have a much worse win/loss ratio.
So me and a few guildies really enjoyed pvp before this patch, I wouldn’t say we’re amazing but we were definitely better than average we won the majority of our games in the old ranked arena using anything from duo queue to a full team of 5. But now after this new matchmaking system we have literally lost all but like 5 of our games. Most of the time we were three queuing. The teams we were fighting were definitely on our skill level, but our teammates clearly were not at an appropriate level to fight something that hard. I mean we had Dolyaks fighting Dragon’s anet… No one can carry that hard. To further this broken matchmaking we went up against players one night that were way above our skill level… and won because their other team members were so under leveled. Please fix your MMR or whatever it is so it doesn’t have such a large gap in the skill levels.
Nope, its only good for agony resistance for FoTM, and cosmetics if that’s your thing
Cause diminishing returns affects what comes out of bags….
I am actually crying right now
If you want to face tank stuff run Cleric Shout Warrior
as much as I love this concept, mmorpgs generally cant support that kind of content, which is why most of those hard core decision making games are single player rpg’s. We currently just don’t have the technology maybe in a few years though
Seeing as some have opened 70k bags and still not received the mini. We are looking at a drop rate less than .0000143%
If you want the color change, you can just buy it off the TP, it’s “Poly-luminescent refractor (Some Color)”
Just search “Poly” and it should come up lol It is a little pricey though, but at least its obtainable unlike that stupid Mini Gwynefyrdd >:(
Gotta love it… 200 bags gets mini
Another guy opens 45,000 bags and doesn’t get it. Gotta love that RNG
Maybe I should try a new approach and instead of buying stack after stack of ToT bags and opening them all, make a new account and open 1 bag which will contain the mini to bad it would be stuck on the new account cause its account bound :p
Sometimes I hate this game.
Oh how I hope you’re correct
I’ve searched everywhere looking for info on this mini, and I see a lot of people saying they have opened 10k plus Trick or Treat bags and are still not getting the mini (myself included). I have seen two posts saying that they indeed have the mini but no pictures to back it up so I don’t know if its true or not. Anyone who has it want to post a pic? Cause I’m beginning to think its a “Non-existent Drop” rather than a “Rare Drop”
Opening these bags for a mini…is actually the worst thing ever. If it was a weapon skin, i could understand, but seriously anet its a mini, and why is it account bound?
