Try using hammer/lb 0/0/20/30/20.

It’s fun and you can do it with DPS gear (but if you want to face tank you need 1850 toughness). heal sigil + banner regen + adrenal heal + 1850 toughness + hammer 2 weakness and you can tank stuff. Use banner blasts, lb blast and hammer burst to combo off the lb fire field every 10 seconds. Use FGS and SIO for adrenaline (if need be) and more might. Put a battle sigil on a weapon and you can get easy 25 might stacks and 18 aoe stacks.
You can also use the swiftness on banner 3 to get through the dungeon faster.
(edited by Nonlinear.9823)
Yeah, being able to combo off yourself is awesome. I like using the hammer with all the regen in this build because the weakness on hammer 2 helps against bosses you can regen enough to face tank some of them, or snare them with hammer 3 and strafe kite while u regen.
Main reason I like the hammer though is because you can trait your shouts to fit the rotation and provide adrenaline to keep up the burst skill rotation.
Use this for PvE:

Hammer/LB + Regen Banner F1 spam ftw imo. Can combo off the LB fire field with hammer F1. Use LB to create fire field, drop banner into it with banner 5 for might or do it 2x when you first summon it then pick it up and plant, FGJ gives, put a battle sigil on one of the weapons for more might since you’ll be swapping a lot. Alternate between FGJ and Shake it Off to keep getting adrenaline, which you also get when you swap, which is CD to every 5 seconds.
Start with 3 bars of Adrenaline. You only need to 1 bar with hammer and 2 with longbow to keep it going, which you get from swapping and shouting and hitting stuff and getting hit and killing stuff and your rage signet:
Longbow F1 (Fire Field) → Arcing Shot (LB 3 Blast) → [Plant Banner if off CD for blast] → Pick up Banner → Plant Banner (Banner 5 Blast) – > FGJ → Swap to Hammer → Hammer F1 → Hammer 2 (to keep up weakness on the boss, see below) → any other hammer stuff until swap is up → Shake it Off (if you need adrenaline) Swap to Bow → get two bars of adrenaline → Repeat F1…
You will provide 18 stacks of AOE might to allies and 25 on yourself with might on swap sigil.

I use Dolyrak Runes for increased regen. Go with either soldier/knight gear, knight weapon and full zerk trinkets with maybe a knight ring or jewel to get your toughtness to 1850. No healing gear needed.
The weakness on hammer 2 + heal signet + adrenal heal + banner regen + dolyak runes and you can face tank dungeon bosses while doing the rotation. Just remember to keep the weakness up.
In dungeons.
Frost bow for object.
If I am glass cannon w/ staff I use Fiery Greatsword instead of Fire Elemental. on certain bosses, e.g. CoF p1 Effigy, Destroyer of Worlds, etc.
Staff is awesome in dungeons.
As condition I enjoy 13k+ Eruptions + Blast finisher and applying weakness with Earth 1.
As glass cannon I enjoy standing at 1200 range slinging fireballs and laying down lava font fire fields for the party.
if you can’t kill the golem in less than three waves from the point of engaging it then you’re doing it wrong.
And none of this really applies to me because I’ll kick any non-80 that joins the group or I’ll leave and find another group of 80s in minutes.
Yes, Nonlinear, but you spend money to level when you craft, whereas I make a lot of money to level.
A lot of money is relative. I also don’t have to have 4 other guildies who are always on when I am on and willing to do nothing but run AC for me.
It’s a personal choice. Personally I don’t like being carried and like to accomplish things on my own. I didn’t even do my first story mode dungeon until I hit 80 and worked out my spec and got a few exotics towards that end because I think being carried is a selfish attitude and I don’t want to punish other people by not even having all of my traits (or even all of my skills) for a proper build.
You know, this game don’t even have dps in the traditional sense. But I get ya.
Yes it does. If you can’t do enough damage in X amount of time and kill the golem you will be overrun. If a player sacrifices DPS for gimmicks or stacks 1400 healing or uses all clerics/knights or something like that then their their DPS is going to be terrible and the support/defense benefits they get in return won’t be enough to counter the extra waves of inquest.
Most people fail path 1 because they are some combo of not geared, are using a gimmick spec or a bunker build or something else that neuters their DPS. It isn’t like CoF where you can spec/gear anything you want to faceroll to victory.
They stack the poorest scaling stats in the game and assume their build is solid when in reality it has poor DPS, they get overrun by the waves and then they complain about how SE 1 is impossible.
I can grind centaurs and get a level every half an hour or craft and get from 30 to 40 and from 50 to 60 in less than the time it takes the crafting booster to wear off and I don’t need anyone to carry me.
The golem is a dps check. No have the DPS then no kill golem.
Start on the ledge to the right of the first barrier.
Wait for 1st pack to run past.
Blast down barrier then back onto ledge.
Wait for 2nd pack to past.
One person runs up to start the golem event (there is some talking before you can engage the golem) then runs back to ledge.
Wait for 3rd pack to run past.
Rush the golem and hit it with everything you have, if your DPS is good then you should have him down before two more packs spawn.
Once golem is dead run back to ledge to get out of combat then wait for the mobs that spawns during the golem to run past.
Wait for next pack to spawn then rush the barriers, ignore the mobs that continue spawning and plow the barriers until you get to Nokk. Run down the steps to stop the adds then it gets easy.
If your DPS is good then the golem should be at ~50% health by the time first (or second idk we just melt them with splash from killing the golem) the pack of mobs gets there. All I know is that if your DPS is bad then you will be overrun by adds. Just keep it up and burn it down. Once the golem DPS check is passed the dungeon is easy.
I’ve done P1 with 3 guardians and 2 elemenatlists in 16 minutes with no wipes so don’t let people tell you that you need 100b spam or certain classes to do it. All you need is high DPS for the golem. Don’t miss your big CDs, blast it with all your skills, etc.

If you can’t kill Kholer without the aid of the Troll then just uninstall because you’re a bad. He drops 15s (with Omnom bar), a chance at a wonder bag (with 3 badges and ~3s), a chest and the WP and only takes like 5 minutes. The same speed obsessed elitists that skip Kholer and the Troll also skip the two lizard champs that drop 7s each (w/ bar). That is 45s, a chest and a chance for two wonder bags, pass that up to get badges of which I already have like 1,000+ in my bank.
I run AC for the money not to carry lowbies to level 80.
If you can find someone willing to carry a level 35 with limited traits and poor gear then go right ahead.
Instead of handicapping dungeons and relying on others to carry me, personally I prefer doing starter zones to get to 20, grinding centaurs until 30, level a craft to 40, grind centaurs to 50, second craft to 60, a mix of Sparkfly and Maelstrom meta events to 70, then Orr to 80. I can get 2 levels an hour this way.
But I guess handicapping pugs and having others carry you to 80 works too.
Kholer is so easy for everyone, that is why scrub PUGs do anything they can to avoid him and having to pay attention for 5 seconds in order to dodge his pull.
I always forced pugs to do Kholer before he even dropped 10s, its a good check to see if the group is worth staying in or if one should leave right away.
Uh huh. Why should I believe a word you say, again? Show me a video of you soloing Kholer “in an impressive way” or you doing something else equally impressive or kitten and go away.
You are lvl 80 with max equip in a lvl 35 dungeon. Should I be impressed?
wow, the jelly is strong in this one. Haters gonna hate.
Jelly? I can solo it with less effort than that mesmer, but I dont make silly videos boasting about soloing a boss balanced for lvl 35s and not for lvl 80s in full exotic/ascended.
Sure you can, if you say so. Go do it and prove it to me, stranger on the Internet. But I guess I’ll just take your word for it since you have offered zero evidence (condescending words don’t count).
Why would I waste time to proof it to strangers on the internet if I earn nothing by doing so? I dont need anyones respect.
For the same reason you wasted your time to come here and brag about how awesome you are while providing zero evidence to back up your claim instead providing banal excuses about the environment and how big stuff busy you are.
Go kittenolol somewhere else.
And honestly I rather do a whole path with a group than wasting time soloing a single boss during that period of time. Not to mention the wasted time and electricity for encoding and uploading the video.
LOL! What lame-o excuses. Kitten or get off the pot.

Agreed if you melee kholer he’s going to pwn your face. I range him.
Here is video of me soloing Kohler with guardian, using hammer
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ib0JnigqvE4wow this actually looked just contrary what it should look like: you just spam 1 and keep your utilities on CD, this looks nothing like skilled gameplay to be honest. I will have to try this, but I’m kind of disappointed now. A boring rotation/CD-spam? I wonder if this is working as intended.
where is the skill in that?
I dont think it should take skill to kill a level 35 opponent as a downleveled 80 in full exotic equip.
Have you ever done it or are you just here to hate? If this is so easy and stuff then where is your video doing something you would consider impressive?

Full of fun, full of win. Provide regen and stack Might to the ceiling (18 AOE Stacks, 25 on self).
http://en.gw2codex.com/build/22176-warrior-hammer-lb-tank-build
Been using this for dungeons. So fun and full of win. Stack (AOE) Might to the ceiling (and other boons) while doing DPS and watch the monsters melt, apply weakness to bosses, stun/snare and remove Defiance. Get between packs faster with AOE swiftness from banner. Good defense (~1,850 toughness benchmark) and enough passive regen (that scales better when downleveled) that healing gear isn’t required (i.e. no sacrificing power and crit damage for ~1.5k heals). Good synergy between weapons, talents and skills. Hits like a truck with all the might stacks coupled with power from Soldier’s gear (instead of Knight gear). And best of all it’s just plain old fashioned fun to play.
I’m having way more fun with this build compared to 100lol spam. GS heal shout spam seems gimmicky and unimpressive and the math on it really turns me off because it requires sacrificing stats that scale well for poorly scaling healing stats.
With this setup I can swap out my knight weapons for berserker weapons (e.g. GS/Rifle build) and my one knight ring for a berserker ring and still have over 40% crit and about 3k attack with about 1300 tough/vit from 6pc gear.
I started using Hammer/Longbow/Banner might stacking build and use 20 points in defense for Adrenal Heal and 20% CD on Hammer skills. It is the most fun I’ve ever had on a warrior.
HotW is totally broken. I think it is fun and easy to do “proper” (i.e. run from a pack or two, not jump over wall and range the last boss due to poor design and environment glitches).
P2 and P3 bosses just have way too many HP (Butcher is okay but could use a slight hp nerf, it isn’t like there are multiple phases to these fights to make the large hp pools interesting).
What makes their large hp even worse, and this is a BIG FACTOR in why it can take so long to kill him that most people seem to overlook… people totally ignore their underwater gear and go fight him with like a level 1 spear gun because nobody pays attention to underwater combat. And if it is their first time in a pug doing p3 and p2, changes are high that yes, they are probably using a blue weapon and aquabreather they bought for 200 karma at level 5.
I thought the last boss and story mode ending (T2 reference) was great.
Path 3 is fairly fast (20 minutes) and easy and only gets easier the more times you do it (e.g. running across the bridge).
Path 2 is longer but still easy and you can skillfully avoid a lot of the trash with smart pathing and cut a lot of time off it.
Path 1 is difficult but doable with a good group and really tests your group to see if your DPS is up to snuff. It can be done without suicide or wiping. It is also the fastest path once you pass the DPS check. If you are using a gimmick spec or are bad your group will fail.
I wish all dungeons were more like SE. A quick, ez money path, a longer path and a gut check path that will test the efficiency of your party while also being the shortest if you pass the test.
I use full Cleric everything with 6/6 water runes. My build is 0/0/25/30/15. I carry either a GS or hammer and a sword shield for the second set.
I can do banner heal/support with signet of healing, shake it off, tactics banner, endure pain, signet of rage. I have near 100% uptime on might/swift/fury from signet of rage. I heal around 350hp a second from my banner along with maybe 260 from healing signet and more from adrenal regen trait. I do strong damage and can take huts very well. If a healing aura ele is in the group I regen so much a second its ridiculous. I use this for dungeons.
I switch to shout heal for roaming PvE using the same traits and gear, so only one purchase of equipment is necessary as well as no trait respec. I just switch the banner CD and regen slots for the shout CD/heal. This build does even more damage with 8-12 stacks of might. I change tactic banner with for great justice and endure pain with on my mark. I lose some swiftness uptime but not much. I love this build.
This might tickle your fancy. I find my 80 guard cannot outperform my warrior for durability and staying power in PvE.
Edit: Or damage for that matter.
This is for PvP, right?
Full clerics in dungeons you hit for like, what, 500 damage with a GS?
How does this build fare on SE p1?
People who want or think you need to stack 100lol warriors to beat p1 say that because they are bads. The issue I’ve found has to do with gimmick builds that try and do too much and end up trading like 30% of their dps for things like 1k shout heals. As the poster above stated, go with a 20/30/0/0/20 variation. Pure GS direct damage DPS and no gimmicks like trading 20% of your power for ~400 healing. Go big or go home. Soothing mist and shout heals will not outheal the waves of mobs.
Just FYI, I beat p1 in a 3 guardian/2 ele pug last night in 16 minutes. I am specced as a condition damage w/ staff. We had no wipes. You should be able to get the golem down to 50% before the first pack comes (assuming you are waiting between packs to kill the barrier, trigger the golem and then run). 50% by first pack of adds seems to be a good test to see if your DPS is up to snuff. Easily doable but you have to pay attention, not miss CDs (spam that rage signet), etc.
It’s a DPS check. No have enough DPS then no kill golem.
jump on ledge wait for first pack to pass. kill barrier, back on ledge, wait for next pack to pass. One person triggers golem, comes back to ledge while they talk. Wait for next pack, rush to golem and kill as fast as possible. Once dead run back to the ledge to get out of combat, wait for all the golem adds to run by. Then high tail it to the barriers and plow them until you get to Nokk. Easy from that point.
Just did P1 in 16 minutes with 3 guardians and 2 eles. No wipes. Smooth. No 100lol need
signet build is bad, can’t even remove conditions.
heal shout build is gimmicky and equally bad, trades upwards of 30% of their damage for puny shout heals that blow all their cooldowns and are outclasses by traited heal skills. Maybe okay in WvW but makes dungeon bosses drag.
If you want to spec DPS spec DPS if you want to mitigate and support then spec to mitigate and support but don’t destroy your damage trying to do too much and you really have some form of personal stun break and a ranged option. You aren’t doing any DPS when you’re stunned.
There is no issue with P1.
It’s a simple DPS check.
If you don’t have enough DPS you won’t get past the golem. A little more l2p a little less tears and p1 is the fastest path in SE.
@Strifey, I like your strat the only thing I disagree is killing the golems in the tunnel between Nokk and the three big ones. You can run past everything just avoid the blue dots on the ground.
IF SE 2, you can avoid all trash right before and after the taskmaster with a good path and good running, it makes the dungeon much shorter the only long part is protecting the guy who gets the big rock, lots of trash and he moves too slow.
Path 1 is rough, especially if your new to it.
Path 2 takes forever
Path 3 is pretty darn easy and is ran often
The weapons arent popular in comparison to the Ghastly weapons from AC which is far easier to farm, however the Armour is but usually only to Warrior/Guardian and Engineers.Dredge are among the top 5 worst enemies to fight in the game due to their
>Immunity to Blind
>Large amounts of Daze/Knockdown
>Bombs
this is essentially why very few people want to run SE other than getting the DM title in comparison to other dungeons.
Agree. SE 3 is ez. If group has high DPS you can do P1. There is a DPS check at the first champion but after that it is ez. Path 1 is actually the fastest if you have the DPS.
You don’t need a certain setup or certain classes all you need is high DPS (i.e. level 80 and exotics) a little coordination and most importantly proper gear and spec. You’re not going to do it if you are specced 100% defense/support and hit like a wet noodle for 600 damage with a two handed weapon.
Leave the gimmicks back in Lion’s Arch you can get them back out again when you’re lolfacerolling Citadel of Flame for the 1,000th time.
I’ve cleared p1 three times in the past week or so. It’s actually really fast and easy if you can kill the golem quickly. Again, all you need is high DPS to blast the golem down and take out the barriers. Direct damage is preferred to drop the barriers but I’ve done it as a condition build.
you can go to the mists and test the damage. Even with full berserker gear and boon duration runes the last hit of 100b on Sonic Boon variations hits for ~11k while the last hit of a 30/30/0/0/10 DPS variation does ~15k. Add Eagle/Scholar runes to the DPS orientated build and the difference in stats from adding in all the healing and toughness and removing the crit damage and power (a lot of people seem to like sacrificing their crit damage) is quite large and it’s noticeable. My GS warrior kills stuff a lot faster than shout spam warriors and a group with multiple shout spammers takes a lot longer to take down bosses.
this looks like the Sonic Boon build on GuildWars2Guru
Personally I’m not a fan of shout healing and think shout heal build try and do too much and excel at nothing. I don’t think it’s worth losing 200+ power and 10% more GS damage from traits alone to go 30 tactics (instead of 20 Strength) and lock your bar to three shouts that do paltry healing, one of them being your stun break and condition removal. Soldier Runes help but most of these builds go for boon duration so your only condition removal is also one of your gimmick heals.
GS is a direct damage weapon so I prefer using it as a direct damage weapon, speccing for direct damage, e.g. 30/30/0/0/10, and gearing for direct damage (at least 50%+ crit damage from gear/traits to get at least 1:1 return on damage for every point of precision you have.
With less than 50%
If I want to tank/support I’ll use a hammer and ignore crit and crit damage for faster recharging burst skills (30 discipline) and knights trinkets and weapon after getting the extra 20% extra crit damage I need to get to 50% from Traits (30% from Discipline), Berserker amulet (8%) and four jewels in the trinket slots (3% x 4 = 12%).
Build:
Video:
You can also take 10 points out of Arms and put them into Tactics if you want gimmicky shout heals or healing banner (I prefer healing banner for the build).
Maybe, just maybe, they park an alt there once they find the node location and then they log in, mine, send it to the bank then log out?
Or… they are using a sophisticated teleporting map hack that ANet is unaware of and doesn’t care about stopping or something.
If you level at a decent clip then runes and sigils matter not because you’ll outlevel the gear they are in before you get a ton of use out of them to make them worth researching. Just use whatever, with 100% crit from signet trait you’ll slaughter everything.
Spend skill points to get signets first.
Get to level 10 and start dumping points into Arms.
At level 20 you’ll have 10 points in arms. Get the trait that adds +40 precision for each Signet you have on your bar. Equip signets.
LOL at your 100% crit rate and go destroy stuff until benefit from the +40 precision per signet starts falling off.
With banner CD reduction and horn you can keep swiftness and banner up pretty much 100% of the time. I love it for grinding DEs and zerg stuff. Plan on using 30 tactics to add regen to the banner too for more support. I use Sword/Horn and Longbow and stack condition damage. Sword provides nice cripple, leap finisher and adds bleeds while longbow does Burning.
Whenever I hear “shout healing” and “I run clerics” I shudder at your 600 damage attacks and 1.1k crits with a GS.
All the GS shout heal builds I’ve seen do poor damage and sacrifice crit modifier for paltry healing and some toughness. Most builds I’ve seen don’t even take 20 points in Strength for 10% more greatsword damage and the extra 100 power in exchange for a couple of stacks of might that add like 5 power over the 100 power from strength, assuming you can keep them up 100% of the time (you won’t). All so they can blow their CDs healing for like 1.5k on characters with 15k-20k health.
Ditch the gimmicks and use a heal skill. You can mitigate enough with proper dodging, traits and skills to heal just fine with it and don’t need to cut 20%-40% of your DPS and spec deep into tactics for gimmicky shout heals that heal <5% of total health while locking all your skills and using your stun/break condition removal as a gimmick heal.
Joining a pug with multiple GS shout warriors makes me sad because their lower damage makes it take longer to kill things. Taking longer means more CDs are used, more incoming damage that needs to be mitigated, etc. If you can cut a boss fight by 30 seconds that is fewer big CDs you have to use and less time in the dungeon.
so….
EA still worthless.
got it.
I would be okay with that.
IMO Ascended gear is kind of boring since you can’t tweak the stats in the jewel slot and have fewer options for infusions.
Seems so obvious that the game wasn’t meant to have more than one upgrade slot on an item so the Ascended “jewel” stats were “baked in” so that the upgrade slot can be used for infusion and used as a quick fix while dealing with this other “issue” that doesn’t apply trinkets…
How will this baked in and infusion slot stuff translate to weapons and armor that have upgrades which aren’t simple jewels/stats? Is a Sigil of Fire (worth over 4g) or a Sigil of Something Bad (worth like 10s) going to be “baked in” to ascended weapons? Will a 40g+ set of divinity runes be “baked in” to ascended gear or will it be “baked” with 6s Krait Runes?
And what if I don’t want the baked in rune or sigil? If the plan isn’t to have two upgrade slots and just the one, will there be an entirely new tier of sigils that do the exact same thing (plus some) and add agony resist (making current superior sigils/runes basically worthless)?
Since this has all been long planned and stuff, what is the actual plan? Two slots? A whole new tier of sigils and runes that add resist?
Would really like to know this before I save up and drop 30g-40g on runes and sigils that will be outclassed and be like a fraction of the price in a couple of months.
Do you realize that this depends on the implementation that maybe even A.net isn’t sure about yet? they could scale existing weapons up and stuff like that.
No way brah, all this ascended crap is by design since day 1 ANet just didn’t feel it was right to release it at launch or some other lie they came up with to make you believe they didn’t create Ascended gear because some people whined about being bored and ANet panicked.
Coughing up conspiracy theories must be one of your hobbies. If somebody changes an opinion or reacts to something in a different way than they done before, they’re always liars in your book? Then every person on earth is a liar.
No, just pointing out that the game was obviously designed with one upgrade slot per item in mind on a very fundamental level, hence why they couldn’t just up the stats on the item itself and throw in an second slot for the infusion.
I am assuming they did trinkets first because there aren’t runes or sigils associated with them, just simple stats they can add to the item as “baked in”. Now they are working out how to add both a sigil and an infusion or a rune and in infusion because with “baked in” sigils and runes and only the infusion slot the weapons and gear will be BORING.
If you believe that ascended gear was planned from the very beginning then I have a bridge you may be interested in.
Now now there’s no need to insult each other.
DPS builds are a perfectly considerable choice just like many of the others (not ALL of the others, there definitely are junk sets). It’s just a build that is very popular and so you have to pay more to get it.
For my glass cannon gear, I get hurt so much faster that I need to stop doing damage to heal, use blinds, defensive skills before I can resume doing damage (or I’ll die fo sho). So I factor those delays in to how fast I can get something killed.
Who is insulting? I am an old min/max player so min/max is fun for me, changing one jewel in my rings to get the exact balance I want is fun for me.
Some people have fun doing things like gimmicky shout healing on warriors and summoning parrots and golems through runes at the expense of 10% or more of their DPS. As long as they are having fun taking longer to kill stuff and the group doesn’t notice or care then who cares?
