We still haven’t got a single glider skin available ingame other than the default one. They sure are cashing hard on them.
There is a glider in PvP you can earn if I recall correctly. (not that such would probably make you any happier.)
http://dulfy.net/2015/12/01/gw2-upcoming-items-from-dec-1-patch/
OP, even if that would be done I don’t see the convince of it other than quieter map chat.
Now if they had a karma vender for all food karma base items (like the various fruits, ginger, etc.) in there, then I’d start to consider one.

Ok, it admittedly took me longer than it should’ve to understand your explanation. (It’s getting late and there was a lot to think about! Even so, I still may have misunderstood so feel free to jump on me about that :P )
What I gave was a bare bones idea of what could be done so obviously it wouldn’t fit everything. No need to jump on anyone for hypothetical stuff.
I get that the tier system would work for buffs, but how would it work for physical unlocks like the arena, tavern, workshop and mine?
Given what is currently coded, yeah… They’d have to lock it down. Now as you noted it would be scaled cost to get from kitten T2 where in Tmax would be our current cost.
Do you think it would be confusing or misleading for growing guilds to unlock something, for it to be relocked again? Do you think it could breed a “kick” culture, where if a guild is just a couple above roster tier size, they’ll be happier to kick than to pay more to re-upgrade?
Everything is confusing until it gets understood or explained. That is why people make guides.
As for a kicking culture…. Yeah it could. Lets face it, humans will kick others for the smallest of reasons. But with a scaled method, it should be easy enough for the larger guild to get enough resources to move to the next tier if they work together.
Heck a kicking culture already exists. Both the previous and current method of guilds encourages 100% rep even though we can split time. This is already grounds for kicking in some guilds.
Am I an advocate for a change to how guilds currently lack scaling? Not really. I’m an advocate of if it isn’t broke don’t fix it. I also enjoy the discussions of theoretical changes that could be done to accommodate more players. The model currently generically mimics real life. While that can be a pain and depressing for a video game, it is what it is. The GH is full of niceties not must haves.

Op, two things
and
This game has an ESRB rating of Teen for Blood, Mild Language, Use of Alcohol, Violence.
What kind of system would be in place to prevent that, and how would it be designed so that it wouldn’t limit a small but actively growing guild?
Easy, you have tiers based on guild size.
Example, lets say a guild that is 10 and under is a T1 size. 11 to 20? T2, etc.
Each guild buff (lets just say buff A) has some bonus value. However, you also have a buff value associated to guild size. Buff A_T1, A_T2, etc. The value of buff A (given to players) doesn’t change per guild size, you just have the same buff per tier of guild size.
So if you have Guild size T1, and buff A_T1, congrats, you can use your buff. But if your guild goes to size T2, but you only have buff A_T1, oops. Guild size is greater than buff size, buff size can no longer be used until your buff size is larger.
But the turn around on this… This means more lines of code, more time to debug, more time to QA…. It is more complicated. Honestly, for cost value gained, what was implemented is the most efficient. It also fits ANET’s MO when it comes to coding. Code it once and forget it exists.

Pre Purchase they said small guild would not be left out.
They lied…..
I find your opinion to be incorrect.
In my guild we have roughly 8 or so active donators, 20 or so that complain about guild buffs but are doing no donations, and 10 or so that occasionally toss in stuff to help out.
The guild level right now is… either 34 or 35 off the top of my head.
Small guilds can get up there, it just takes being active and donating a lot towards a common goal.
The guild leveling was setup rather generically like real life. The more active people you have, the better the guild hall you can have.
I suspect if there were things like.. EQ’s “work orders”, quests that can be taken on to help the guild/guild hall out, were put into the game that would help small guilds out as much as it would large guilds. Yes, I realize the current system can be compared to that already, but it would be a way to “quest” to get items directly rather than pray on rng or prey on gold.
I’d be ignoring this as well because yeah, that is uggly, but…
They worked in skritt so that caught my attention. I tend to do a lot of skritt related stuff in the game for the laughs.
Chances are I’ll never use either, save maybe the glider to get comments out of guildies.
I’m sorry, but as a one time keyboard player (and people could not tell I used a keyboard at all.) I’ll tell you up front. You have to use a mouse to have the speed and control necessary for this JP.
You can have 100 peeps in front with a clusterkitten of sparkly effects at 20 fps (expected) when it suddenly – often for about 5 seconds – will go to buttery smooth 60 fps. I’m not even joking, the sudden performance jump is jarring with no noticable visual change, its still 100 peeps tossing effects in front. Then it goes back to “normal”.
That description reminds me of core parking issue. I don’t think it ever got fixed though. I’ve tried some of the stuff but something got dorked and I had to do a system restore. So I play at those varing FPS rather than not being played at all.
In case you wanted to do some looking yourself (or maybe you have?) I know this has been posted before in the gw2 forums, but I’ve never gone into my graphics card settings to look for the power management. That is something I should do.
So here is a link as a starting point for those interested. Yes, it is WoW based, but the premise is the same for GW2.
http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/3863056756
In fairness, Yen, whilst that is an interesting analogy, it says only one thing to me – the game architecture is really screwed.
That made me chuckle. Raedwulf, I have one word for you. “Exactly.”
And it does not surprise me one iota. Why? Think about it.
First, the code base. You have a client but also a server. This server has to poll a database. The server also has to link and use multiple 3rd party libraries. So the server is by no means an island unto itself but more like a planet with several moons. (Honestly I was not meaning to come close to any form of a Deathstar reference so I’m stopping there.)
Second, how long has this game been out there? 3 years officially? So does 4 years sound reasonable? During this 4 year time period… Bi monthly updates, developer churn, manager churn, design changes, sudden needs to fix broken stuff FAST, etc.
Third, and I’ll just say this is an assumption. No one is perfect and we all make mistakes. Each developer has their own level of ablity. I’ve seen elegance way over my head and rough shod that I’ve gagged at in the code I have to support. You get these differences in there and it can make things very interesting again.
We have no idea of their process and practices which can bend you over or save you.
At one point the code looks probably good, but after 4 years of constant development it really doesn’t look anything like the original. Stuff happens, and it really does not make kittens happy.
How one manages to mess up the player settings, without actually changing anything with them, is beyond my comprehension as a developer. Let alone the fact that we are talking about something that worked perfectly fine since release. Just…HOW!? How does one manage to break the fridge while making popcorn in the microwave? did you somehow put a spoon into your bowl of corn, tied a wire to it and somehow welded that to some circuitry in the fridge, frying the whole thing in the process?
It’s honestly a lot easier than you think.
The assumption is that your fridge is on a different circuit breaker compared to the rest of the kitchen where you are cooking your popcorn. However, unbeknownst to you, the fridge actually shares the same breaker. So when you activate your popcornmaker, the current necessary for propper running of the fridge drops below required values causing the fridge to die an early death due to it trying to work without the necessary resources. This is a reason why long term brown outs are NOT a good thing, and even short term can cause unexpected behaviors/errors.
In the case of software the analogy still is apt. You touch something that “reasonably” shouldn’t have any connection to a different system, but unknown to the coder there actually is and stuff happens.
In the case of this bug, my wife was hit with it right off the bat. Me, I wasn’t hit with it till 3 patches later. Such oddness in behavior makes these things very difficult to figure out let alone for a developer or QA to detect.
Of course, if there’s a QoL element GW2 could learn from WoW…
it'd be mounts!
/smokebombandflee
Pre HoT I would have disagreed with you.
Now, given 50% if not more of the WP are contested at any given moment out in HoT I’m much more in agreement that GW2 probably needs them.
Either that or I’m the freaking commander weither I want to be or not. Let me through the kitten gate. Meow!
It’s that way for everyone. I got the achievement by purposely triggering both sets of traps, killing the mobs that spawn after triggering, and then running to the end room (where Taimi is).
Agreed, but in addition I also had to be instance owner.
10 year old games like DDO that launched with DX 9 support, have added 10 and 11. Is it just that none of you have faith in Arenanet to add DX12 support?
Added in and people revert back to 9 for the most part because it runs with less lag.
The architecture of DDO and LOTRO are utterly different compared to GW2. You want/need a top graphics card there to help your FPS. Always have. GW2… not so much.
Also the only things that 10 and 11 added in for DDO? Better reflections in water/mirrors. A bit more lighting, shading, and bloom control. (The latter we don’t seem have here.) That is about it.
I really do not see the need for DX12 in this game honestly. But who knows what the future really holds. It just seems that they release a new form of DX whenever a new version of Windows comes out just to trick people into thinking newer is better again to help support sales. They are both owned by MS after all.
They haven’t fixed it yet.
Let alone this event will also bug so she won’t start the searching phase for the relics either. Even though the hint says to protect her from the Risen King. Nothing about protecting her till she find an artifact.
While I think the weapons are very attractive…
I absolutely HATE the fact that they apparently change your arm into some form of “element”.
I am not part of Groot, lightning bolt, elemental, or whatever other what have you out there.
Emm… Not Tyria. Try one of the many realms associated with Dungeons and Dragons. They look remarkably like a standard mimic.
But most likely the latest fun announcing the Mad King’s return.
Played since day 1, never encountered such players. Small question, why do you farm ambient mobs?
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Vial_of_Maize_Balm
That is why. They convert ambients into lootable creatures.
As for the OP, the stance is that players are allowed to kill ambients, and in some zones required for heart completion.

However, should one or both parties become abusive in chat/whispers that is an actionable offense that can be/should be reported.
That answers it right there. I ditched AVG years ago because it was screwing up a lot of games. Still does.
I know we’d like to have ANET actually do something, but would this be also possible with 3rd party programs?
Doesn’t ANET have that overwolf or something overlay program contest? Couldn’t this “visible to average players” information be displayed in larger context with the program as it would not give these players any unfair advantages. Could it even put on filters or additional circles overlayed on top for the ground targeting for the people that are unable to see certain colors?
autoclicking loot bags offers zero combat advantage.
There are many out there, let alone Windows provide a way to enable mouse clicking via keyboard.
Baring that, using ergonomic mice/keyboards may help the stress of your hand, as well as if the mouse you are using right now is not a good fit for you that will only cause more strain.
Beyond self help, which the above is, you need to decide for yourself how much pain and permanent damage is worth it to you. I do not forsee anet making any changes because countless people before you in this game and in deed MANY other games and companies out there have tried the same angle. Probably 90% (obvious made up percentage) of the time there are zero changes in the game to address said issues.
answer: clipping.
As hair is modeled here not to be individual strands that can be controlled, and they did not create a new “skin” for each hat/helmet with all the variations of hair, the hair would stick right out of the helmet and look utterly uggly.
So they went the less expensive route of removing hair and putting the helmet on that way so it would not have clipping issues.
Because they didn’t do a double mesh at the start as a previous poster suggested as done in other games, the rework effort most likely was deemed not cost effective to implement.
Given how the OP wrote this, I can’t help but remember this little gem.
http://www.methodshop.com/2003/12/harry-potter-broomstick.shtml
Also, clothing color choices and… shall we say some people, are the reason why CO never really made any flesh color clothing, let alone you could make your character child size as well.
People get up in arms about so many things but not so much about others. OP, put in a bug report. If the developer’s manager thing it is worth their time, they’ll assign a developer to address it.
Emm… probably about 100g a week if I try.
Using all lvl 80 characters that are equipped enough.
Using the sprocket generating mining pick.
1-3 dungeons in that week. (which may consist of AC p1 once, and p3 twice if that.)
1-3 Teqs in that week.
Then just go out doing 2-4 world bosses a night, selling rares and/or exotics. (I may pull 1 exotic if I’m lucky) Half the rare clothing I pull gets deconned for ectos.
All the blues and greens get deconned for MF.
Sell all gathered stuff at the end of the week, or as it hits a stack of 250.
I really don’t do fractals, so no bump of profit there.
I really don’t do WvW or PvP either. So no profit there.
I don’t try to flip the TP either.
I’ve never pulled a high demand item, so no profit from those.
I have no ascended gear, still gathering stuff to do that.
If I wasn’t trying to make money, probably about 30-40 a week.
So you can see, I’m really just an average player.

“His skin stood out starkly against his father’s darker tone. He’d been told he was a mix of light and dark, his mother having had snowy skin and his father with his brown bear coloring. "
If I remember systems correctly, I believe the Champions Online game pretty much was the test bed for the Champions system that got released shortly after the online game did. That could probably do a pretty decent job for it.
As far as d20 based DnD goes, you could flavor it, but it could never be identical. I’ve flavored up some Norn stuff as it for 3.×.
BESM could also do it with relative ease.
But the hard part would be replicating the trait/skill respecing. Then again there are just some things you toss aside in tabletop because tabletop is not a video game.
I’ve lost track of how many presents in open world I’ve opened up (let alone guildies) in order to destroy toys that are running amuck for the meta. (yeah, I’m aware of apocalypse and their issues as well.)
However, doesn’t matter where the present is opened, or character, the only thing in those boxes are skritt.
So either the achievement needs its text updated or the presents fixed.
Already submitted a bug report on this but given the lack of any good way to organize just what to fill in for this…
Or it could be that many people really want the home instance items that are a possible drop out of the chests currently.
This sort of random “luck” I tend to equate to Champions Online/StarTrek Online with their “grab bags”.
So people get keys and buy up chests vs trying to farm them for that chance of the shiney.
I know I’d love those home instance nodes, but I’ve not been willing to blow gold/cash on gems for keys.
Reality is that it is probably a combination of these people and flippers.
Packet loss comes to mind.
I use a program called “Ping Plotter” freeware version. Tech support may have you use the trial version of standard to generate a file so they can look at the data.
PP is essentially a map tracer of pings done at a routine interval of your choosing.
I’d setup ping traces to sites you like to frequent as well as to a server you are connected to in game. To get the address of what server you are connected to do the command: /ip
If you find you are suffering from loss, it may be your hardware, it may be your software, it may be your ISP, it may be a node in your path to the game.
And if it is this, good luck, it will take you some work to figure things out.
Only way I fixed mine was to turn off stateful packet inspection (SPI) of my router.
otherwise, there is this not too old of a thread.

Wow this looks darn familiar because I already submitted a ticket on the same issue. (My ticket ID was 949718 in case they want to look up info.)
Their support was unable to help me.
However, I fixed it by turning off Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) in my router.
So try turning SPI off and see if that helps you.
I found a thread from the launch of GW2 time frame that many people had to turn it off in order to play. So if this works for you, I’m betting the client is getting worse so now they really do have an issue but because people found work arounds they never actually fixed the issue or something in the system (network or server) introduced something.
Coenraad, I’ve been dealing with something similar the last few days.
By chance are you behind a router that has SPI enabled? (stateful packet inspection) If so, see if you can get that turned off and see if that resolved your “connection error(s). Retrying..” message.
I was in talks with tech support but I was wondering just how many people are actually effected by this, let alone how many people turned off SPI at the beginning of GW2 launch because it was also causing game crashing.
