…and the QQ is started.
The new build is bugged? Its happens because the whole game is created by people. For our fun.You do realize that if they actually bothered testing the steps involved in starting the flame and frost dungeon for like an hour then this wouldnt of happened in the first place. In all honesty this is a 10 minute into patch content breaking bug that happens every single time on most servers.
This is lazy and disgusting considering oh god the gem store items arent bugged because they will make money compared the flame and frost which is free(you can debate all day bout me complaining bout free content but any game any developer not pro-testing their stuff is just like i said disgusting and i dont care if you wanna call me out on my “whining”).
I think they tested this dungeon on they own closed server and that enviroment work fine. But the release is usually different.
I remember there was a lot of issue and bug with the gem store.
but see they could easily replicate this process by having a closed server imitate the download process the live servers experience to catch stuff mixing up along the way.
If that doesnt work they need to implement a test server for players because at this point their pride regarding them handling this all by themselves is starting to become childish because it’s shown to fail quite a bit at this point.
i do not mean to be a whiner, but ArenaNet… seriously sort your testing team out… literally EVERY patch you guys release has some bugs… from random mobs in queensdale dropping rares and exotics to a new dungeon that is not accessable… really poor.
maybe bugfix the bugfixing team?
ok i know i stressed they need to test stuff but small things like that are expected to slip through because pro-testing the ENTIRE game is way too unreasonable but for things like skills for each class that i could see having to be tested and the new content they release yes that should be tested also.

My point on the sadism derives from how he went about destroying the sunspears and how he made the king watch his people die and then still enslaved his soul. I also find it EXTREMELY UNLIKELY he’d only do that 1 horrible act and then never commit it again.
After his imprisonment by ossa he seem’s more paranoid killing every ossa just for the name alone even if they weren’t direct descendant of turai(i will admit i believe paranoia and anger is a key factor for killing anyone with the name ossa because 2 ossa’s so far have given him a run for his money and i doubt he wants another possible chance of one beating him again).
Given the nature of how most nations we’ve seen in gw1 have kings be followed by their people(not always the case) it’s more then likely his people were a peaceful kingdom given the king was aware of joko’s ability to completely destroy them. Also given his battle comments in the eotn tournament he does take joy in the thought of enslaving people and even sparing you if you lose just so he can come back and kill you.(off topic but i’d love if elona had a mission where we fought heroes and the like from gw1 as bound undead just saying).
Gw1 had good shades of gray but gw2 very seldomly approaches shades of gray(inquest and nightmare court are decent picks but the named npcs are straight twirly moustache evil). I also doubt he’d bow to the pact as he did to gw1 heroes because in gw1 we had a shared enemy and i’m betting he wouldn’t trust the pact in long term even pointing out that yes the dragons are a threat but with 1 dead he’d most likely let us fight with kralk then attempt to clean up/go north(speculation on my part).
But on the slavery note it’s not honestly required for ANY civilization to build itself up since even small villages can thrive if anything marshal law is more good then slavery since slaves have zero rights and are treated as such(if no freedom and being considered disposable isn’t evil by most moral standards then you couldn’t begin to see it for what it is until it happens to you).
On the logical fallacy i wasn’t pointing to joko and the pact i was pointing to you saying joko wasn’t a bad guy even when gw1 painted him as such BASED OFF SMALL TID BITS of the movement of the world(that was more of telling us there’s hope and people still alive it puts it out there we’ll have to turn that way eventually) which was all speculation based off vague movement of the world information as opposed to gw1 just broad stroking the guy.
I will say I don’t hold anything ill towards you and don’t hate or mean to disrespect you if i am meaning as such. But joko is honestly what made me hate nightfall because of how stupid our characters in that campaign acted. It was super hero logic of putting our characters morals above thousands if not millions of live so they could be good when if anything it is their fault for knowing the risk he posed and just stood there being dirt for brains. Considering our characters slaughter just for their gods or anyone asking it really just brings bad story to the table when your suspension is ripped by stupid actions.
Ok I have to point out a logic fallacy. You say we’re wrong because of speculation of what he might do and then say with speculation his time being imprisoned changed him when there’s no evidence to support that. It’s one thing to conquer nations but even when people submitted willingly he slaughtered them for no reason but a whim.
Also just because he’s keeping people alive doesn’t mean he’s doing it out of kindness. Given he’s sort of sadistic he could just be keeping people alive so he has people to rule over because if everything is dead then he wouldn’t have a way to replenish his troops if they were to fall to zhaitan or krak. Remember joko is immortal he could be playing a long term game since years mean nothing to him(which 200 years not moving to an immortal is like moments by comparison so your whole “changing due to time” doesn’t have any ground to stand on given he curses the ossa blood line with crazy like zeal) Also working with the heroes allowed us to kill varresh for him and help him build up his forces so he could make his move(he’s not stupid remember he plays long term chess essentially).
If you wanna make any sense think for a moment, why even make joko an obvious monster with enslaving souls, killing innocents, and causing mass famine and disease if not to give us reasons to go out there? Also what part of KILLING INNOCENT PEOPLE WHO ALREADY SURRENDED WITHOUT A FIGHT suddenly makes him not as bad we’re making him out to be when there is rather clear evidence to the contrary?
The prince who ruled those people offered his life so his people wouldn’t have to die. what happens? he kills them for giggles. Now you can be put your fingers in your ears and go “la la la” all day but common sense fantasy story wise is painting this guy black in a white and black good and evil way (this game rarely if any has any gray zones). He’s gonna do something evil stupid and we’re gonna go to elona, things are gonna suck we’ll save the day cliche like.
Last note if you’re defending slavery then you aren’t one to have a respectable moral ground to stand on and preach. I know morality is debatable but given you’re defending whole sale slaughter and enslaving souls(yes enslaving souls that’s why he got races like centaurs to obey also including that prince he slaughtered but the prince can’t do anything but obey joko because his soul is enslaved i.e. like prince rurik was by the lich of prophecies) i’m having a hard time seeing him as anything but a cruel tyrant.
You’re making the grossly speculative presumption that Joko will be taking over swaths of land owned by someone else – thus becoming a threat to others.
He may go after the Crystal Desert – which would put him at odds with Kralkatorrik if he’s not already at odds against them. But that’d make him an ally to the Pact. He’s been fighting Zhaitan’s forces for 150 years, again this would make him an ally to the Pact. He might want Orr, but that’s unlikely IMO – especially if he’s learned anything about how the Pact took out an Elder Dragon. He’s no idiot, he’s not going to make enemies out of the greatest force of Tyria, and indeed, the world.
Beyond this, I have nothing more to say. You say all you’ve heard is that Joko would be ignored. But that’s not true. What you should be hearing is “until Joko makes himself a threat first, he won’t be the target of a group who has bigger priorities.”
The Iron Legion probably doesn’t give a skritt’s buttocks about Joko. They’re backing up the Pact to take out Elder Dragons – the second they go after Joko instead, they may pull out. Same goes for Vigil, who are likewise primarily interested in Elder Dragons and those who become huge threats (like the Molten Alliance). Priory probably as well as the Krytan nation and sylvari race. End of the day, unless Joko makes himself a threat first – which we have seen no real indication of him intending to do such let alone expand beyond Elona, only the Order of Whispers would be backing the Pact against Joko, and maybe the humans of Elonian descent.
No, I know exactly what Joko is like. I know he’s no Lich Lord, but he is power hungry, and in his long lifetime eventually he will get bored of just owning Elona. As for why he didn’t move northwards and try to conquer more lands before Zhaitan, my best guess would be solidifying his position. Obviously it was a near bloodless revolution when it came to the leaders, but people never surrender as easily, you need to rule over them with an iron fist until their will is broken. Not only did he have the people of Elona to deal with, but he had to deal with the Centaurs, Heket, and Harpies, all which I can see causing him headaches. Personal opinion, he bided his time (something he can do as an undead lord) and Zhaitan’s coming gave him something to be afraid of and made him give up any thoughts of moving on to conquer more of Tyria.
Well, I’ll just say this first. I don’t want you to be ruling anything, because you sound like you’d make a worse (more evil and cruel, that is) overlord than Joko is.
- Point to me where it says he’s ruling with an iron fist.
- Point to me where he ever had thoughts of conquering Tyria. Let alone any indication that Zhaitan kept him from conquering Tyria.
- Point to me where he’ll be bent on ruling more if he ever tires of ruling Elona – usually when long-living rulers grow bored, instead of wanting to own more they just want to create intrigue within their own nation.
From what we learned about Joko, he always laid claim to Elona – and only to Elona. He’s not the nicest ruler, but he’s not ruling with an iron grip per se. He’s rationing water and crops (what the Warmarshals of Kourna did ever since they kitten the Elon), and he punishes those who rise against him (something any nation does). He rewards those faithful and the only people we’ve heard hide or tail of him oppressing are the Ossas.
Ok on the iron fist part if you remember gw1 it’s clearly stated how he enslaved the centaurs into his army and work force http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Crossing_the_Desolation (Mirza’s first spoken line) and he also was famous for betraying and slaughtering people on whim’s(http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/A_Deal%27s_a_Deal).
To be honest this took me 5 minutes of looking around. So it’d be better to spend time looking round then arguing but hey if you wanna waste time defending a monster of a character go for it.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Bone_Palace , He also enslaves souls(rumors but given how he rises in power and we dont know how his undead form works this is a decent link either way) again it says enslave not rule over meaning you guessed it! he’s a monster for forcing people into slave(btw this is kind of the defintion of a tyrant).
Given he has a history of stealing kingdom’s and such it’s only common sense he’d eventually wanna branch out more after getting his own land under lock and key
Also saying someone else would be more cruel or evil for having speculation is kind of ignorant and rude given you don’t know much bout joko or the person you’re referring to.

I really wish ppl would stop asking for cantha back cuz its just not goin to happen. No cantha means anet can work on a brand new contient which could hold alot of new things that we havent seen in the gw lore. But really u should of gotten the picture after learning about the great colapse and not bringing the cantha new year back and the whole lore part of the cantha leader kicking out all non humans which means we really not goin to cantha since the rise of the other races. im just saying the hints have been put out ther just look forward for something new.
The hints have also hinted we’re going to cantha and elona by the developers eventually. Cantha being ruled by a dictatorship(last we knew) and elona being ruled by palawa joko. Also you don’t know anything regarding the great collapse by your ignorance here.
The reason they destroyed it was mentioned earlier in this thread but the reason was that by having a supposed “oriental themed district” surrounded by european structures it would allude to a real world problem in history and they didn’t wanna offend people with it. Now an entire nation built around cantha culture wouldn’t give off the same vibe they felt the canthan district had because there wouldn’t be any european structure giving the vibe of dominance(the real worry was a perceived form of discrimination regarding race). so I want cantha to return because it gave a wonderful feel and alot can happen in 250 years. just saying
Healthy tip, do some background looking around before saying anything helps to avoid this same topic coming up over 10 times. Now the pale tree isn’t an elder dragon because of 2 reasons. 1. It’s less then 300 years old being planted during guild wars 1. 2. There are other pale trees and the sylvari’s default nature isn’t evil so much a chaotic good(not being purely good but having morals even without the dream given the sylvari we meet who is from the other pale tree.)
The god’s don’t get their power at all from the elder dragons. It’s been stated and hinted through dialogue and sense that they left not only because they believed humanity should learn to stand on it’s own but because they are their own source of magic and the dragons would probably just eat them or at most cause a very huge battle destroying alot of land.
The gods power source has always existed because in nightfall when abaddon dies kormir absorbs it and a forgotten or margonite(forget which atm) states abaddon had a previous individual who had the power he currently had. So it’s never been the dragons and the fact there are 6 could easily just tie into a 6th race if anything here. What’s also worth mentioning is that the gods seemed to not even be aware the dragons existed when they landed in orr and sensed the magical potential but wasn’t aware what it exactly was.
Lastly their domain is less of their power and more of their actual personality. Abaddon was originally the patron of water but after his demise lyssa’s followers suddenly took it up for no real apperant reason. Also Kormir is known as the god of justice and such while abaddon was known as the god of secrets(while kormir can still do this role her title was changed because of her actual beliefs). Also Grenth was born on tyria and got his power after dethroning dhuum. What’s interesting to note here was dhuum didn’t have anything to do with ice but when grenth became god of the underworld he did.
I’ve always been curious if mesmer magic itself only dwelled in illusions or more along the lines of actual warping of reality to do harm. Like spatial surge for example, if it was only illusions are we only attacking the mind or are we actually warping it and doing psychical harm.
Time warp is also an interesting example along with the portal abilities. Do they effect our own perception of time by making things happen faster then they actually are or making us do a routine action to reach a location but us not knowing it ever happened.
I’d love to hear other people’s ideas and thoughts regarding what mesmer magic really does besides just illusions or if it really is only illusions.
Thieves would easily be the most prominent regarding whispers because as a stealth based class being able to infiltrate and hide among plain sight would easily be the best advantage. Also saying rogues have taken orders in other media shouldn’t just disprove them from being able to give orders because if they joined an order to begin with then they should be also capable of giving and taking orders(also thieves belong to a guild of thieves by default and the only mention of it is in the thieves elite skill which summons thieves. at least what i took from it anyways.) for order of whispers a quiet class would make most sense as a thief because rangers are more solo based because of their nature of hiding in the forests and usually not in cities or organizations.
