That’s exactly what i did, also i had a warrior in the vigil and a thief in whispers.
But i kinda regret the decision, i disslike most if not all of the Priory characters, especially your mentor, and the armor is pretty meh.

Liked the Vigil alot more also their armor looks great, would’ve gone with them if i didn’t already have a character doing the story line.

I have lernt that there really isn’t a reason to use a bear unless you want it tanking a champion,dungeon mob or a crapton of mobs.
It was the way to go in BWE1 and 2 when the mobs hit like trucks, more of the damage came from the ranger itself and pets were made out of paper, since that’s no longer the case running around with 2 dps pets or 1 dps 1 dog is the way to go for me.

I’m liking the eagle/hawk the most, it has an evade and it’s activated ability is on a 6 second cooldown and hits like a truck.
Another favoirite is the river drake, that thing is one bad kitten motherkittener when it comes to AoE damage, combine it with QZ and some traps and you’ll melt faces, hell on lover levels you don’t even need the QZ and traps, it’s F2 will melt a group of mobs on it’s own.

I’ve also lernt that switching around what pets you have ‘equipt’ to fill in any holes or enhance some aspect of your group or depending on the fight is quite important if you wanto get the most out of your ranger.

I really miss the heavy damage GS from the beta.
True, it needed to be toned down but i think they went too far.

Infact, i prefered the entire BW2 ranger from the live ranger a great deal.

No it dosen’t, it’s frickin stupid( no offense ment to you)
If someone picks the ranger with the intent of dealing damage they should be able to choose if they wanto focus on ranged damage with a bow or melee with a sword without feeling they got the short end of a stick if you ask me.

Give me back my BW2 ranger.
These really massive changes completely boggle me, i mean the greatsword went from an overpowerd beast to the weakest weapon we have, same with evasive purity that went from cleansing a condition from yourself and everyone around you eachtime you dodged,without cooldown, to the complete joke of a grandmaster trait it is now.

Mistake #1 A ranger doesn’t specialize in ranged combat, that’s a misnomer generated by the name. The ranger is someone who ranges far and wide, essentially meaning someone who travels great distances.

Have you read the class description?

It isn’t a misnomer. If you want to argue that, Warriors are better (a lot better) with melee weapons, too.

What’s up with that anyway?
I was so happy in the beta weekends when we were awsome in melee and now everyone is using bows.
For me, rangers have been synonymous with lightly armored, outdoorsy, survavalist warriors like Aragon, Minsc etc… fantasy Bear Grylls basicly.
How did rangers=robin hood?

Anyway, i have a warrior and a ranger that i’m leveling evenly and the longbow is purely for aoe and utility(only combofield,blind and root) and rangers haven’t been “outbowed”.
Rifle on the other hand…..

And if you picked the wrong class? Well, if you’re only ambition is to deal alot of ranged damage i dunno, we rely heavily on out pets and if they can’t get into melee or we don’t use a dps pet, our damage isn’t all that great.
If you like playing a versetile pet class with alot of ranged weapon options and like the utilies, i’d say no, stick around and things will be tweaked eventually.

I can’t stand this map.
I generally dislike random and pve elements but been able to tolerate and even enjoy them on the other maps, not this one oh no, i litterally go “oh godkitten#8221; every time it pops up and leave.
Not beeing able to stomp people underwater is just adds salt to the wound.

Also it’s frickin tiny and hitting the rocks when you leave your spawn point and getting into combat ain’t too plesant either.

You know, in can’t think of a single thing i like about this map other than it looks nice ,has a pirate ship and atleast attemts to implement underwater combat.

This game throws so many puns at you i somtimes wonder if they have Tim Vine on staff.

Anyhoo.. the writing for the backround and event stuff is so much more entertaining than the personal story it isn’t even funny.
My favorite so far hasto be where you escort two retired charr soldiers on a seperatist raid, their back and forth is super cheesy but really fun to listen to.
Very leathal weapon meets grumpy old men.

I picked Dinky in the beta fully expecting to hate him like i ussually do when characters are written to be funny, but really aren’t and just end up beeing obnoxious(i’m looking at you Lord Faren or what’s his face).

Man was i suprised, i love that guy!
He’s such a lovable oaf i wish he’d follow you around through the entire story, really bums me out that he just stands at the bar.

Just did it again and bam, bronze again.
I asked what level and class the people that got gold where and got 4 responses.
3 where level 80 that got gold by just auto attacking , and 3 of them were warriors.

I’ve also noticed i’ve got a far easier time getting good medals with my warrior and thief than i have had with my ranger, maby the pet dosen’t “count” or something?

The longbow only has barrage and that’s it, if you really like the long bow you’re better off dropping a barrage and then switching to a better aoe weapon such as the axes which provide consistant aoe if you want keep your distance and kite a group of enemies or either sword.
Longsword will only hit 3 enemies while the GS will hit more, it’s also better to use when fighting enemies with long attack animations since you can move out of the way rather than just standing there. All of these scale well with a build focusing on power.

And yeah the non burning part of the flame trap scales with power, but even without much condition damage it adds a fair ammount of hurt and speeds up my kills by a noticable ammount, also if your drake uses its tailswipe in the fire field both of you get 3 stacks of might

Ranger AoE is fine imo, it just comes from more than one source.
Something i like to use for heavy AoE is 2x Axes, a GS, the flame trap and a drake pet(preferably the river drake, that lightening attack hits REALLY hard).

The second pet can either be a murrelow for it’s poison field, a carrion devourer or simply a second drake. their basic attacks hit several targets at once and provides a blast finnisher which is very nice for all the combo fields you’re using.

I dunno, simmilar thing happened to me just now.
Worked mykitten off, using my elites and utilites to get the most damage out, keeping fury up, swapping pets on cooldown for the QZ buff and shouted profanity at it so i would get a decent contribution but all i got was a bronze medal and some crappy blues.

Also read that someone got bronze from just autoattacking while they were drinking coffey.
Bummed me out so much i didn’t even feel like playing anymore.
