Phoenix.5047

Just noticed as I was going through the Account Wardrobe:
Having the Mad Memoires: Complete Edition back item skin unlocked does not unlock the original Mad Memoires skin, despite being a “Skin progression” item as mentioned in the patch notes. Probably due to it being a weird craft/quest progression item, instead of just crafted.

Items that have gone through skin progression…will unlock all the skins in their direct progression line

A.E.D. Test

See, this is what happens when you corner engineers into easy-mode condi bunker builds.
They forget how to play.
I love this heal, it’s the perfect addition to my PvP build: gadget Zerker.
Once you get the timing down, instant near-full heal. And, being a squishy Zerker, it’s always going to go off.
That’s not to mention the addition of another stun. What you have to keep in mind about it is there’s a slight cast time to it, so you activate it as you’re closing in on your opponent. Then drop the burst.
A.E.D. is great for clutch gameplay that, given a skilled player, will always be in your favor.
Don’t change it!

Who waters the plants in the Black Citadel?

Those “plants” are actually bio-toxic defense mechanisms set to activate as a last resort, if for some odd reason the Citadel is ever invaded. ’

Personally, I see a turret fix in one of two ways:
1-Increasing Power and Toughness scaling, since their damage is negligible at best, and it only makes sense for toughness to increase turret armor, not to mention the main turret trait line is based on toughness.
2-Allowing turrets to crit, and maybe increasing their power scaling a tad as well. If this is the case, then fine, let them die easily, they are now considered a threat, and this emphasizes smart turret placement.
Of note: Power scaling could replaced with an increase in attack rate, something the multi-barrel design would lead you to believe to be high.
This of course means I disagree with the disposable turrets theme, I think they should stick around to provide fire support, like turrets are supposed to do. Also, turrets should definitely stick to pure power-damage, we (engineers) have enough condi-based builds as it is.
On that note, the Flame turret could be replaced with a new defensive turret, providing a pulsing shield against ranged attacks, or providing Protection (boon) within a radius, or both. Or just, you know, taking a look at all the turrets and revamping them.
As a final note, am I the only one who misses when the Mortar was considered a turret? Sure it’s terrible, but there’s no reason we can’t gather it under our wing here and improve it along with its automated brethren.

How do you use A.E.D?

I have to say I love this heal skill. I happen to play zerker rifle engi in PvP, my squishiness makes it very easy for the big heal to go off. Not to mention that it comes with yet another stun, and they’re both gadgets. Basically, the perfect addition to my build.

Warrior Trait: Fast Hands+Swap cooldown

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Phoenix.5047

Did a quick search and didn’t find anything, excuse me if it has been posted already

The Fast Hands trait induces a 5 second weapon-swap cooldown whenever you drop a bundle or jump into water while in combat. This is an issue when fighting in PvE with bundle mechanics(Liandri the Concealing Dark), or in WvW when jumping into water and having to wait those 5 seconds before swapping to your appropriate weapon set. Not a massive issue, but certainly noticeable. (Perhaps also PvP: Kyhlo and repair bundles).
This of course is opposed to not having the trait, these actions don’t induce a weapon-swap cooldown.
Thanks for reading.

I can understand why you’d move Unsuspecting Foe around, but does the direct damage on hammer really need to be nerfed? It already hits like a soggy weenie, and about as slowly to boot. Add in other class’ damage mitigation and hammer doesn’t seem to do much anymore.

We’ve tested what we assume will be the new meta hambow build (dropped burst mastery to keep unsuspecting) and it still does a ton of damage. You’ll need to drop defense to maintain that previous level of offense, ie dropping Melandru runes or Lyssa runes in favor of Ogre or something similar.

Alright I see, there are possible builds in the works. Just to polish my point though, my build uses the Barbarian amulet with Eagle runes, and that’s just to eek out an alright damage from the hammer, without Unsuspecting Foe; and I pack an axe since I know hammer isn’t going to cut it. It’s a small step back from full Berzerker. I guess I’m just hoping there’s not too much collateral damage to other hammer builds that are already trying to scrape together a decent damage source.

By the way, thanks for letting the community in on the discussion, I’m certainly grateful, sure we all are.

Call to Arms now induces combat

The Warrior Warhorn #5 skill, Call to Arms (applies vigor to self, applies weakness to enemies) now induces a combat state, something it did not do prior to patch. Seems like a bug to me, or is this now “working as intended”? Saw no mention of it in the patch notes.

“The Juggernaut, Bolt, Incinerator, and Rodgort now have larger footfall effects.”
Although, since the footsteps were already quite large, I doubt the change is much visible.

And again, I wasn’t talking about any big changes, just visibility of footwells, footsteps, same thing.

Jumping or Grinding?

Wanted to voice my only real qualm with SAB, which is: the bauble grind. Now, I don’t mean grinding to buy the skins, fine, let that be. My problem is with the relatively high cost of the in-SAB upgrades. It got to me when I realized I couldn’t proceed in World 2 Zone 2 without buying the torch, which costs 400 baubles. If this is supposed to be an homage to old-school gaming, why the high cost and currency grinds? If I’m not mistaken, the norm for old-school upgrades was simply finding them, and the upgrade itself was a reward for your sleuthing prowess, that and being able to progress. Instead, we’re forced to go back and repeat levels we’ve completed just to build up enough currency to continue. I always thought of SAB as a way to get away from the grind that is already GW2, now that same philosophy spilled over into it. Any chance this can be changed?

I’d just like to point out that The Predator footwells didn’t get an update, which is odd considering they’re practically invisible under bright conditions, basically during daytime. Not only that, the notes mention Incinerator footwells actually had an increase in size, meanwhile I thought The Predator’s footwells would’ve been updated to Incinerator’s old size, which seemed plenty visible to me.

Someone else managed to post this before me, albeit in the new SAB sub-forum, link.

Mini-game rotation.

Phoenix.5047

This news just hit me as I felt like playing some Keg Brawl, a uniquely fun game, only to realize I could only play Southsun Bore-fest. I can’t believe A-net thought this rotation was a good idea. Frankly, not many of their latest implementations have been any good, time-gating content is definitely not a good direction. What ever happened to playing the game our way? You know, fun? We don’t need more achievements, and honestly, I’d hold off on throwing in a slew of new mini-games until the ones that exist are actually balanced. By the way, whatever happened to Polymock Arena, the Bar Brawl, and the shooting gallery in Divinity’s Reach? I hope you’re picking up the bad vibes Anet, things are not going well here.

Adding my support to this idea, I could get sponsored! Maybe upgrade the Keg Brawl field to a massive arena, Coliseum-style, spectators could take seats even…
Seriously though, everyone knows Keg Brawl is the real end game, there should be more focus on it! Especially since it’s the only real mini-game since release.

IMO Toss Crab minigame isn't fun!

I should speak up here, I absolutely loved this mini-game, good work A-net! Sure, it was a tad laggy during the first few hours, but it was very fun. Within a couple of games I got the hang of it, and I managed to stay on top until I got every single Crab-toss related achievement. All I can really say is it’s all about strategy, and fun! I only wish Keg Brawl came with a chest at the end, too. But seriously, not digging the Crab-Toss bashing going on across the forums. It’s a great game, and I can’t wait to see more work done on mini-games within the game world. Thanks A-net!

You know, there are tools in place (dragontimer) to know when and where events are starting. Your own fault if you’re standing in place for hours at a time. And there’s no issue with the new times, there’s no reason the game should be giving you free rares for standing in place and hitting our “1” key over and over. There are other events outside dragons and the Maw, and jumping puzzles. Rewarding challenges, go figure. Also, learn to use the space. The hill to the right of Jormag isn’t the only spot on the map.
As an engineer, I stay in a spot closer to him, destroy crystals, and nuke him when he’s down, and there’s rarely anyone around me, and somehow I still manage to stay alive.
The events are starting to fit their namesake, they’re closer to Dynamic, and that’s a step in the right direction.

Whispers Story - Drinking contest. Seriously?

I did this on my Asuran Engineer, and I had a blast; a good bit of comedic relief if you will.
Not only was it really creative, but very easy as well. Didn’t take more than 5 minutes to get through, and the dialogue was greatly entertaining. Don’t see why the big fuss.
Granted, I did this a month back or so, so I can’t remember exactly how to do it, but taking a minute to read the skill descriptions and taking note of the enemy’s drinking pattern should suffice to get anyone through.

I love the Asuran cultural armor, all of it, especially the T3 medium helmet…with one big caveat: It seems to remove hair. At least in the preview.
Is there any chance it’s just a preview glitch? I hope so.
Otherwise, it would be great if Arenanet took a look at that.
