Yep, I have an 80 warrior that specced for full tanking can still do comparable damage to my grenade engi(main). Its funny how many grenades before this nerf we had to throw to kill something, and now it will take another 1/3 more grenades thrown to kill something. Awesome my wrist needed more pain.
Oh wait thats right. I have a warrior I can play…. except I just kinda dont want to play anymore.
IN MY OPINION, engineers get too many built in handicaps to compensate for the crazy amount of awesomeness they can put out(in any build really), but the balancing factor was PLAYER SKILL.
IN MY OPINION, now an engineer has to play tip kitten top if they want to be as viable as a guardian or warrior spamming 1.
And fractals? GFL. I already was getting booted just for being an engi, kiss that goodbye.Get back to your overland event farming engineers, your not good for the rest of the game. (Every class can do anything you can do better.)
I feel the same way. Shelve this damn class…
I played my kitten off to get to the higher level fractals and groups are already not letting me in because I’m an Engineer. Really who would you want at level 24: A really good Engineer or a mediocre Warrior?
What exactely is this “VERSATILITY”? Another word for kittening sucks? Tell the groups that know engineers aren’t worth kitten compared to the Warrior on Guardian that I’m “VERSATILE”.
kitten YOU ENGINEER.
They don’t hate them, they don’t play them…
I am close to completing the dungeon master title and have done many of them repeatedly.
I am sad to say I have never seen the cut scenes from any dungeon ever…
Seems I should know something about the path but I don’t even know the story behind any of them! lol
Does someone have a link to the cut scenes or if you have some video of them could you post them? I would appreciate it.
I have searched and only found a couple of intros.
Thanks.

*Forgot to mention on Borlis Pass server
I made my own guild – upgraded it greatly – and now would like to find another active person or two like myself for the full time buffs in the Economy and Politics categories. They are 10,000 influence each for the last level. I’ll get there by myself but with another active player or two it would be much faster.
I keep up at all times: +10% Magic Find, +5% Influence for 24 hours, and whatever banners I want on myself already.
The goal is to put up all the best buffs full time:
+10% MF (done), 5% XP (have sometimes when using alt), 10% gathering, +15% Karma, 10% influence (have 5), 20 Dungeon influence.
Upgrades the guild has now:
Architecture 1, 2, & 3. Workshop. Stash.
Economy 1, 2, & 3 (4 is next upgrade – half way there).
Politics 1, & 2.
I do not have any upgrades in the Art of War category but would consider it if others are active enough in WvW / PvP.
Requirements:
Be active or earn/buy influence so we can keep our buffs / boons active all times.
I play during central time evening hours each day. All day and night normally on weekends.
Message me on forums or whisper in game.
My main is “King Gorlock”

I agree.
At the higher levels a group has to instinctively know how to use the classes in their group or it won’t work since PUGs don’t use teamspeak / vent. If you have a heavy in your group and they avoid the hammer every time or seem to be dying every encounter… Anytime I see a guardian or warrior be the first character to wipe in my group I get nervous. You have to know what every class should be doing or how they should be contributing so you can evaluate your team and not have to carry someone through. I am an engineer. You have to know what I should be able to contribute. (Which I realize many don’t even know what the kitten engineers do. I have to prove my worth every time and try to represent engineers everywhere)
Seems 2 eles in a PUG is always good luck for me.
One good thing at being at the higher levels (having the experience) is that you can tell pretty quick if the group is going to make it all the way or not. That way you can go ahead and end it early instead of waiting for everyone to rage quit. For example: the first fractal is Snowblind and people start dying on the archers around the first fire… That is a warning that this group may not be able to finish a harder map even if you might be able to make it through this one.
On the lower levels I tended to continue to start over with the group even if they were wiping over and over. Its better at the high levels just to politely tell everyone its over.
@TheRabbit – The reason you would stick around and spend another 30 seconds (often less than that) is for a potentially great drop. Which these trash mobs seem to drop more often than some trash outside this dungeon.
As long as the group is good, I don’t care. I’ll skip it all if you want but I think many of you are making a mistake and should reconsider. The tokens themselves only help you make gear that make it easier to progress further into the same fractals. Which hopefully means even better loot in the higher ones (lvl 17 now for myself).
Wanting to skip every kittening mob! Especially when the time negligible… What are you running the fractals for if not in part for the good loot? Just so you can get a ring or weapon to help you get a higher number?
Some of those stupid (bats in the grawl dungeon on the way to last boss for example) have dropped named exotics for me (one sold for 4G – something that started with a ‘z’). Many times some of the trash along the way to the jade maw drops all kinds of good kitten. Powerful blood, ect… Everyone ALWAYS seems to want to skip everything on the way to the jade maw…
I can see skipping when it really does save you a good amount of time but 2 minutes?
The trash must be there for some reason. Other than just being obstacles in your way. They are not even good at being that because it really doesn’t take anything to skip them. Could it be that they put those mobs there to actually give you a little bonus for playing? ****
I second the thanks to Daiosho. Always getting bothered when I’m in the fractals and he is asking for help… but I don’t mind at all. He is the reason I even started playing WvW at all. I will always come to help if I’m playing (except in the middle of a dungeon).
That said. I’ve noticed we have many new commanders in WvW now. Commanders I’ve seen for a long time on the server like Plok and Kritoblak (just two others I happen to remember) seem proficient leading big groups but a few of the other ‘new to me’ ones I’ve followed around may not be. I am a little skeptical following them but I hope they continue to get better and stay around for a while.
Somewhere in this thread someone said one reason BP has the numbers now is the recruiting from PVE on the server. I can speak for about 10 of us and say that was true on our end. If you need help, many PVE people would do it if you have patience with them and explain to them what you would like to do. We may have no idea on the strategy of WvW but we have strong lvl 80 characters that down our enemies.
Because they are small and hard to see. (Which I like)
Walk to the dungeon entrance by yourself and see what the highest level you can enter the dungeon is.
The problems are similar but the other dungeons only require you to be on the same map EVEN if you are on different servers.
So someone from BP could go to a dungeon on GoM just by standing in the same map that has AC. They don’t have to right click and “join party in …”. Where now you can NOT do that by just standing in LA unless you are on the same overflow and use the “join blah blah”.
More people have been using the lfgw2 online site. That means more cross server dungeons runs that won’t work on FotM unless one of you is on an overflow server.
If they would make the dungeons similar to how the other current ones work it would alleviate this potential problem.
Yesterday when running the FotM dungeons from lvl 7 to 10, we had a problem when no one in our party was on an overflow server. It seems when no one is on an overflow you cannot right click someone and “join in LA”. We eventually ‘logged’ a few times and someone found an overflow. Then we were able to meet up.
This seems like it will become a problem if LA doesn’t have an overflow you would have to play with ONLY people from your own server. I haven’t been in a party with more than 2 people from the same server yet…
Am I missing another solution? This seems like it could become a real problem. Any other dungeon you can do with people from another server so it would seem that this should be the case for FotM.
Lol I share your pain and am glad it is not just me! Eagles do it too. They always pick me out to attack over everyone else… Stupid birds.
I admit it took me way to long to do this puzzle. I got frustrated and wanted to quit the game forever! lol
But when I finally did complete it I had 3 wonderful looking giant Norn ladies rears to follow the whole time. If you have to look at a group of characters for an hour these are the ones you want!
I think that made the difference.
Thank you to those semi-nude giants running the puzzle yesterday.
Add me if it is not too late. I hope this works across different servers.
They may cause additional problems sometimes but in many of the FPS games I played in the past the answer was just a manual update of (insert client side whatever here). I don’t believe they excluded that many ‘chunks’ of people from playing.
I disagree. I don’t feel the game has too many anti hack features built in. Between seeing players flying in the air and watching people in WvW run at 200mph – I have become a little disillusioned. I figured if I just grinded and farmed I wouldn’t see too much of that… but even there I do!
The ‘bots’ on the game really don’t bother me like the teleporters and such. Even though they are cheating – they really aren’t bending the rules of physics and are actaully taking the time to programatically kill all day everyday non-stop. If only I had the work ethic of those bots. lol.
It may not be a great solution but I felt I had to offer something.
The game loses a lot of meaning for me when I see hacks. I spend an hour or two doing something that takes someone teleporting 1 min to do. The value of my time decreases exponentially because of these hacks.
The number of people teleporting around the map is starting to bother me.
I take time to get the hard to reach Orichalcum and Omnomberry sites and I repeatedly witness people appearing – harvesting – then teleporting away. They do it so fast I don’t even have time to click on them to report them. Its noticable when two good harvests are close to each other and you can turn and watch them appear at the second one then evaporate away…
All the hard work people do in game is mocked when you see this.
I wish I could offer a technical solution but I don’t have one other than maybe something implemented client side.
If you won’t take away this advantage at least put it up for sale at the Black Lion Trading company. :/
Nice and professional. Thanks for the resource.
I believe they affect the DEs in other ways as well…
On the (stuck again) “Wait for Footi to repair cannon” part of Grenth, I watched a bot die and Jonez went to rez the bot – the bot was teleporting around the area DEAD!?! I don’t know what the kitten I was seeing but I thought this may be a cause of all these DEs breaking. Jonez got stuck for a few minutes on the hill where the bot first died. He would stand up but no longer fight.
If bots are going to be around at least don’t allow them to teleport around like crazy…

Maybe its your server.
It is not like that where I play. Even if I was on with you in your helpful world the suggestion remains.
The point is you should be able to pay “in-game” money for “in-game” services.
At the moment it is unclear if this is OK to do.

Thank you for the suggestion.
There are many great posts over there.
Now that I’ve seen that, no doubt I will be over there more often.

Both.
In-game chat:
lol yeah the way you put it. Friends may not be the right word though – the idea is that I am HIRING them for a service.
“WTB friends to help me get this pain SP for 10 silver”
On forums:
“WTB group of experienced people to run a dungeon with for a agreed amount of money and conditions ect..”

I believe it should be legal to pay another player “in-game” silver / gold for an “in-game” service.
NOTHING in real life. IN-GAME ONLY.
For example:
None of my friends are on. I’m on a map with a low population at the moment. I need some help with a remote SP. I offer someone on map 10 silver to help me out.
I assumed you could do this originally but you clearly CAN NOT.
I get posts deleted / infracted by a moderator for trying to hire people to do dungeons with me. I have asked the question in other forums without response. I have wrote an appeal to put the post back up to forums@arena.net. Based on this, it is illegal to pay another player for services – as the moderator said in the email.
Please allow this. If you can buy an item from a player you should be able to buy a service.
Thank you.
For example:
Lets say I’m having problems getting a skill point and no one I know is on. I offer someone 10 silver to help me out.
Is this permissable?
I was trying to offer money to hire a group of people to help me do dungeons in a post.
It was deleted by a moderator but he said you can’t use real life money for in-game services. I want to use silver I make in the game to hire other players in game.
I was assuming it ok was since it is in-game money for an in-game service.
Can I have this clarified please?
Thanks
Most of this is copy / pasted from another thread I did under dungeons. Starting to get frustrated.
Adding some info for this new thread:
I have a guild at the moment but most can only run during the weekends. I would represent another guild during the run of dungeons. I can use vent, TS, whatever don’t care if the guild utilizes one of them. All of the below still applies too. Thanks again.
I am having a hard time finding people with a similar goal.
Looking for a group to complete all dungeon paths with.
Goal: Complete all dungeons and paths.
Resume:
Lvl 80 Engineer.
Hard working, won’t quit unless everyone else agrees we’re done, listens to those with experience. Won’t run around the dungeon naked and not fix my armor. Won’t whine too much (maybe a little griping / cussing).
Completed story on AC, CM, TA, CoE, and Arah.
Have completed multiple explore routes on TA and CM.
One explore route mostly completed on AC although the boss glitched at the end and we could not finish (Detha path – I posted a topic about it).
Have not completed story on SE, CoF, HoW.
One limitation I have due to work is that for the most part I can’t do it during regular Central time working hours 8 – 4pm. However, if there is a group that can knock off more than a couple in one day I’ll just take a day of vacation to play.
I will farm a dungeon with someone if they mix up another dungeon / path in return for a farming run.
I have PM’d a few people from old threads and get similar stories: didn’t work out, cross server dungeon running wasn’t working as advertised, no one wanted to…
@Promega
Did you have success on another server? If so which one?
Why come back to Borlis Pass when you left if you found what you were looking for? Maybe I am not understanding something…
Server means nothing to me. I don’t care about what server I am on one way or another so long as I accomplish what I want to do in the game.
Maybe I should have asked: which servers have a high population of people that do dungeons?
I am willing to relocate / travel lol.
Thank you for your time.

Here is to hoping this works!
Could someone link to a place to READ a description of strategy dealing with WvW. (if such a thing exists)
Or maybe more accurately a description of what I should be doing to help my world in WvW (Borliss Pass).
(sorry I just can’t watch a 30min youtube video of some guy trying to describe this but I can read something long winded)
My friends and I got on there and killed 50 people in a couple of hours to get our monthly bonus then left because it wasn’t obvious what to do.
All we heard were people shouting about how we were all stupid to be fighting there and should be going somewhere else.
One time we followed him somewhere and proceeded to get killed instantly (only death in those 50 kills). He stopped talking after that lol.
Thank you.
@teviko
Its odd how I never realized that about the repair costs. I will remember that thank you. However, if the guy was sitting there and asked you nicely – you should consider rezzing him (or explaining what you did in your post even if it takes a minute)? If you do leave spare him the wise comments before leaving (like I got).
I’m surprised by the number of responses in the thread and mostly fairly positive ones.
Some of the responses may have been onto something when talking about bots. I didn’t realize until someone pointed them out yesterday, that there are bots WALKING around in groups. I even saw clan tags on a couple of them. I assumed all the bots were standing at the big events. So I must consider maybe some of those people were not real players.
My specific situation really wasn’t a big deal other than what I perceived. I have plenty of money to rez with. I wasn’t ON a waypoint but was close (near the entrance by a fence). It costs a silver to teleport 5 ft…
Thanks all for the responses. I will not let that situation make me bitter. I was trying to figure out a way for a higher level player to have an incentive to rez someone without giving them some kind of reward that would be exploited.
A level of class is all I can think of. I hope some guilds hold their members to that.
If you are a guild officer / creator make sure the members aren’t bots please. lol.
I agree. Of course it should not be required or expected in all cases. Maybe one of those people were in a serious rush.
This is message was written for the multiple people standing right next to my dead body near a waypoint with no enemies.
Should you expect it in this case?
I fell from a Vista I was getting in Cursed Shore (Borliss Pass server) right next to a fence and died. Many players walked right by my dead body without helping me despite asking. I was right next to a waypoint with no enemies around. A simple act of kindness would have saved me a silver to teleport to the waypoint 5 feet away but no one cared or responded to anything except one person who said it was my fault for falling. I told him “yes it was” and asked him to help anyway to be nice and he walked on.
I have been lvl 80 for a week now and since I’ve started the higher level maps I can say I’m disappointed. The only players who will talk on /map are the ones crying about ‘bots’ and how the such and such event is broken. When you do find an event going on most people there /say to not tell the map so people don’t flood the area…
Maybe since XP doesn’t matter as much with a level 80 character no one wants to waste the 5 seconds it would take to help you.
This is just a plea to some of the guilds out there. Enforce a minimum level of class out of your members. I guess it wouldn’t stop guilds who want to be an * but at least it would make it easier to identify those guilds. All the players I saw were guild members and I finally made it a point to remember the guild of the last one who walked by me.
I second the multi-bot reporting system.
I found a group in frostgorge sound that was packed so tight I couldn’t even determine how many there were or what their names were (I did click on one and hit report). They were just sitting in a corner doing nothing and an enemy would spawn a little bit in front of them and they all would attack then stop…
Problem with "Your message has been suppressed due to excessive messaging"
Posted by: Portal Master.9146
I believe there is a problem with the criteria for getting a “Your message has been suppressed due to excessive messaging”
I got it the first time by using the old “LFG blah…” which I understand (even if I don’t agree with).
What I don’t understand is when it happens in a normal conversation using /say.
I was speaking to other players in Orr about a bugged event and was getting this message (using /say). Since multiple people were involved in this conversation it seemed appropriate to use /say and not /whisper.
I was not repeating what I was saying. I don’t understand how I was triggering the message unless there is a upper limit on how much you can type or how fast you can type.
Please address this somehow.
Thanks.
I had to look online to jog my memory of the area’s name. It was right after you discover the “Hall of Champions”. Where the boss room is there were no enemies like I saw in a video online. Right through the door in the big room with the foggy floors we stood where the orange circle was (discolored area on floor) but unlike the video a ghost did not appear and talk to the char.
Other pertinent info: We lost a member a ways back in this dungeon. We were only running 4 most of the time so when we got to this part it was decided that the instance owner would ask a contact of his to join so we would have 5 against the boss. So we waited right outside the door for about 5 minutes until he the other person joined us.
It seems usual to lose at least one person in a dungeon run unfortunately.
Yes sorry about that.
“Detha’s plan:trap and kill the Ghost Eater”
Unfortunately the only one most people will agree to do.
After a struggle to find a good PUG for a run into AC on explore there was no main boss where his icon was…
It took a couple of hours to get there losing a person along the way and we were !@#$%^& upset.
We tried going to the beginning waypoint and then back. We tried walking as a group to the beginning then back in the hopes it would reset or something but did not. It would just show the icon and the orange circle but nothing was there.
I have yet to complete a dungeon on explore despite trying everyday for the last week. Usually it is the other players that bail before the end but when I finally get through this happens…
Please fix this. Nice waste of 20+ silver that day for fixing my armor.
This question does need to be addressed. I certainly don’t want to be punished for this. I always hope I can talk the group into finishing a run through with me if I go farming a few times with them. It is sad not enough people want to finish the dungeon on explore but it is better than nothing. Even the one and ONLY time a group even agreed to try and finish explore with me (after begging and we still lost one) they still used the ‘hug the wall’ method and jumped. I’m not sure I even know how to get to the other part without jumping as I have never done it…
P.S. We made it to ‘giganticus lupicus’ with 4 people. We just couldn’t do it but the thing couldn’t kill us either. Thanks to whoever those 3 people were that agreed to try and finish with me.
