1) Inexperienced players. Many events up to now have been too easy. If Anet continues to make more difficult content things should improve. Probably half the community can’t even use a dodge button.
2) No in-game tools (VOIP, can’t view other players’s traits/gear (gear check), no way to respect traits, every major boss fight like this should have respec options (much higher cost) because overflows kitten everything up.
3) Maybe make the event slightly easier and have a instanced guild version with better rewards.
4) My opinion on this current wurm battle is to increase final phase to 2:30 and fix the :10 bug. This should make the boss fight more manageable. Not everything should be timed or have DPS check. It’s just silly.
5) Lets be honest. The biggest problem with these events is overflows and achievement leechers.

this dps meta exists in wvw land because many people only have 1 set of ascended gear. they need to first address their game design flaws and lies.

the updated animation and cast time for skull crack has 0 effect on the build. when your playing against skilled players they will know when to dodge everytime so you need to force them to dodge or force them into other situations where they can be easily pinned down.

i agree that it’s a cheesy build, but if played correctly you can beat any class, except for maybe an illusionary duelist if they have half a brain. just because something is cheesy does not mean that it’s easy to play. if you can reach a skill player with skull crack and land them, you are a good player—has nothing to do with the build. i’ll upload some spvp footage soon and show you guys how skilled players attempt to counter skull crack, which doesn’t always work. but thanks for watching. funny how you guys get really offended by a video.

i agree with other dude. they should also be able to finish you some and sometimes prevent you from finishing them, force you to dodge, etc.

I’m genuinely curious, does anyone out there find this to be fun? World Events I can sort of understand, don’t want you to grind the same boss out all day. Laurels are too plentiful now so that’s not a big issue either. But now we move it over to Crafting account bound items. Hoo boy.
Crafting to me feels like a desk job, it seems tacked on and really archaic. Now it’s required to obtain the best-in-slot equipment (which goes against their original concept of earning max gear the way you like to play, may I add). Adding time gated crafting recipes you need in order to make account bound equipment doesn’t make sense at all and makes this feel like a bigger chore than it already is. It’s not player (alts) friendly, it’s not logical, and it’s not fun.
I can sort of see why they want to add this, so players wont complain about getting max gear in a day (because that’s somehow an issue in a game that was advertised to be easy to get to max stats and go skin hunting). But for people with many alts, trying to get Ascended gear is just hopeless. The entire new tier so far seems more like a punishment to obtain and goes against the original concept of earning gear in the first place (except for Ascended Rings).
Making recipes limited once per day (at least ones you need a lot of) is just bonkers. Instead of having a game where people login to play and have fun, you’re turning this into a game where you need to login to click a couple buttons and then leave for a day. Even if you had the materials in your hands to make 300 of the things, you wont be able to craft them for nearly an entire year. It’s sort of a case where you want to play the game, but the game doesn’t want to be played.
If the Devs have said anything about changing this system, or if 400-500 is still in sort of a “beta” state; please let me know. Too much time gated content in a game could potentially flat out kill it because I’m sure some gamers would rather be playing a game instead of logging on to do their time-gated chores.
PS. I’m a few weeks slow because Super Adventure Box has been keeping me occupied. I’ve only just left the Box since Tequatl’s patch so that’s why I’m late to this issue.
PPS. I’ve only gotten Ascended Rings via FotM and have no plans to use Laurels for Ascended Trinkets or Amulets. I’ve also lost all intentions on trying to craft an Ascended Weapon when I saw the recipes had a timer, so you don’t need to say “don’t like it don’t get it”. You joking? How are the waypoints better? All it does is start a mini deathmatch zerg inside the JP (when people still played it). The whole point is for your server to have control of the JP and to defend it from invaders, not mindlessly respawn endlessly. Poor game design. Even if they increased the loot, the JP would still be garbage because of the waypoints. The WP killed the JP! Let me guess, people cried because you have to walk back?

I wanna rip my face off when playing PVE with 50 people. Every single person has Superior Sigil of Fire. It makes things hard to see. Too many unnecessary effects.

yes, it’s fail game design. requiring people to zerg up in a single ball for a massive boss is stupid as hell, but not absolutely necessary to win.

Not truly a significant reason. The LFG tool. Yes, I could use gw2lfg.com, but there’s something to be said about the tool actually being implemented internally. Maybe I’ll rejuvenate my love for the game by simply running dungeons (definitely not doing ascended horsekitten).
