This must be a hot topic, 3 pages of reply. I did read the initial GameSpy writeup and remember the first time seeing a train of scantily clothed rangers, seemingly melted together with what seems to be random letter names and brown bear pets. I too was like.. huh.. what the h… One of my guild mates then mentioned that these are bots and explained what they do.
This was a few levels ago but I have to say that since then the gold chat spam and frequency of these bots has diminished somewhat. I am sure A-Net is doing what they can to resolve this. After all, it hurts the games economy and their income.. I see bots still around and do my duty in reporting them, every time. Also, I am not a good money maker in game but refuse to buy gold from them because I love the game and I want it to be around for a long time.
I don’t get too hung up on the ‘blemish’ seeing these bots. Sooner or later we will get rid of them if we all do the right thing..
I was actually surprised and looked for the option to add another skill bar when I started playing. I never played an mmo where one couldn’t pick skills and arrange them as one wanted, but on the other hand, some of these where frustratingly complicated so I kinda appreciate the set skill system of GW2..
hah.. that was fun!! and educational
Norn dance starts out OK doing the Carlton thing and all but then goes into this silly hand waving thing. Zoom into your character when it does the dance and watch the face.. they know they are silly!
you know what they say.. big feet …..

Very interesting thread and info. I think, since this is a ‘free to play’ system, and there is a cash shop available, funds in game is not an easily attainable item. Companies like ANet need to make money somehow so it is expected that some players will pay $ for gold, therefore getting gold in game is harder then on a P2P system.
I played Aion before GW2 and money in game was never an issue even though I had to pay for arrows all the time…
Despite of that, GW2 is an awesome, the best game out today!!!
no camera movement options yet.. may come though..
Agreed to the above. Great ambient sounds add to the immersive experience equally as great graphics. GW2 has some awesome sounds!
Little video I made with my noob human female:
