@Zero Angel.9715, awesome story! A lot of folks have helped me too and I am paying it forward. Just a couple days ago I finished a skill point by myself, kiting my kitten off. Just as I was done, someone (lower level) came, obviously needing the skill point. So I stuck around helping until done.
Followed some players in an 80 zone one day being 78 myself, making sure not getting in their way as they invited me to the group. I ran with them for about 1/2 hour, got some great loot and thanked them for letting me run with the group when I had to go.
These are the things that make you love the game even more..

Had this happening a long time ago, thought that was fixed since it never repeated itself.. At least you can see where you are going.. might not be a ladies favorite..

There are color differences between armor items even if they are ‘made’ of the same material. I usually mix my light armor and noticed differences in tones when using the same colors on all of the items.
Has most likely to do with how the texture is created. I suppose, if something like a helmet has shiny, the color will be more vibrant than cloth, but as I mentioned above I have color differences between two cloth items as well..

totally agree with Ayanavi.1904. I started with a ranger, leveled to 80, then started a mesmer and just about gave up on it. Way more involving then the ranger was. I felt with the ranger I can just sick my pet on mobs, then kite a little and done. Not so with the mesmer.. holy toledo, I had to q and e my kitten off to stay alive.
Once I got used to the added movement keys I did realize that it is way more fun even, as said above, on mediocre mob types..
I don’t think this makes it unbalanced.. just harder to learn/play. I remember starting Aion and right at the profession screen it had a beginners difficulty rating where rangers where considered easy and sword wielding classes as hard but all where pretty much balanced..

I agree with some of the above. I started a Ranger (80) and am running a Mesmer (80) now. I picked the weapons I like the most, then tried out some skills I thought would help my play style. I got some skills that cost me a lot (30) but don’t do anything for me. Some people prefer them, so you just can’t copy someone’s build and are great with it. You will need to build it according to your play style.
And, I would say you need to be at least level 35-40 to appreciate any profession. I didn’t like my Mesmer at lower levels, very squishy. Different now, love the play style and my phantasms.. Hey, I never play alone even if I am …

I have to agree, GW2 is simply the best MMO out there. Even the haters can’t name a better one. I also really enjoy the graphics and there is not a day where I don’t log on to play.

Has anyone ever noticed a glitch where things went see-through? I run a geforce 580 and since about a week ago I noticed this issue. Here is an image of this bug:

…either make him a 7of 9 or Data type or give him emotions. Trahearne is somewhat in between and that just makes him just dull. A leader needs to be level headed but if he/she is not a machine, there need to be emotions to earn respect. We need to know that he is really involved in the ongoings not just rambling on. He needs to care about his army when they go into battle. We can’t trust him so we will leave him dead the next time… that saladhead.. lol..

Have you ever carried that injured or dead (can’t remember) Skritt in one of the instances? It’s like a burned to a crisp rat thing.. bah..
I want to be the dragon, then at least I could fly and see if that moon up there is really round..

I can’t imagine this being a reason for banning. It is a visual aid and doesn’t display anything that is not seen or available to anyone else..

answer: it’s a gamble

put the same weapon(s) on both, then swapping doesn’t change your keys.. of course, you still have to deal with the cooldowns when switching to the other set…

Cultural weapons are available for karma and are not actually restricted by race. So if you’re a Norn you can weild a Sylvari sword, etc. .

So, as human, I can actually go and get a norn cultural weapon? I thought one has to stick with ones own cultural items.. How about the armor though? I don’t think I can get cultural armor from the norn and wear it as human..?

I asked that question myself.. guess it’s a gamble. The price of a black dye is over 7G right now, that would be ~700 silver. For 700 silver you get about 64 unidentified dyes. Can there be a black among 64?

what I can’t figure out is why anyone would need 25 copper sickles..

Never had problems finding the needed types in any area. Keep in mind that the ‘friendly’ rabbits, frogs, mosquitoes count as well…

agree with Hvaran. I too sold and dumped a lot of items before I got the deposit thing.
auto-loot.. a must have, great time saver because most of us take everything anyway..

..wonder if a support ticket, explaining the situation would help in getting the G back…

I started GW2 as a ranger, played to 80, then rolled a mesmer (GS/Staff). Ton’s more fun in my opinion but a bit harder than ranger. As a ranger I just let my pet hold aggro, then unload and kite a little when necessary.
My play style with the mesmer is a lot of kite/dodge. Had a bit of a tougher time from 1-30 esp. when you come from a lvl. 80 class. Died quite often in the beginning and had to get used to the dodge/kite need. Mesmers are a ton of fun!!

It is nice to read a positive post among the multitude of negative ones. I too enjoy the game very much. Started playing when the pre-orders got access, have a level 80 ranger and level 54 mesmer (love my mesmer).
The graphics in this game are the best in any MMO so far! The work that went into this is incredible. I love the fact that, when soloing PvE, there are events where everyone is on the same side, that, when someone is in trouble, there is a good chance that someone else who is nearby will help. A lot of times I do a skill point and end up with a little group who will help the common goal, then go their own ways after it is done, with a or a TX in the chat.
PvEers usually feel pretty isolated in other MMO’s but not in GW2. Yes there is some work to be done here but for me it is still the best MMO out thus far.

I don’t think the OP is against critic posts, rather than against the general put-down posts that have the sole purpose to make the game look bad. I personally ignore these as everyone is entitled to their opinion, but also agree that a newcomer will be influenced by this and get ‘swept’ away by the negativity.
Someone in the beginning was saying that the OP should simply get out of the forum but doesn’t someone who appreciates the game have more rights to be in the forum then someone who hates it??

Hair animation (tessellation) would be cool to have. See Alice…

My rangers name is Tomiangu but she is a Norn so don’t rate that one

First up I want to say that I love my Mesmer. Rolled a Ranger to 80, then started a Mesmer (47 currently) and loving it.
One thing I had trouble with since I got the utility skill is ‘Null Field’. Somehow I have trouble placing it on the ground so I usually end up clicking multiple times until it finally sticks. Also, it goes away if it is not placed right away so I have to press my skill key again and try placing once more. Anyone else with similar issues or is it lag?
Love GW2 so far, playing way too much..

How about the option to change the color of the butterflies? I quite like them and the sound they make but can imagine that they are not particularly fitting for some characters. At least those could make them a more manly color like black…

Make sure you run to group events when they come up. They are fun and give you good exp. and loot. At lower level, stick with mobs your level or no more then 2 levels above you, otherwise it is a bit of a chore to take them down on your own. Don’t just go to hearts, explore a bit and you will run into a variety of different mobs, events and such. Try different weapons as was said above also, play around with different skills until you find some you like.

Coming from a lvl. 80 ranger, I rolled Mesmer and love it. I do have to say though that I had to adjust to my squishiness due to light armor by kiting a lot. Way more then I was use to my ranger and the trusty pet.. and distance, distance, distance..
But, aren’t the skills awesome.. lightning from a zweihaender.. can’t be beat…

a couple times it happened to me where I trained mobs to players. I ran away from several, with the camera pointing back and promptly ran past other players..
I usually then stop and fight the mobs with them, apologizing afterwards for training (didn’t know it was called that) the mobs on them.
It’s all about honor. If this could happen in RL, I would do the same, going for a beer afterwards.

some people have too much time on their hands to think about the how and why…. Some play Char, some Norn, some Human, some male, some female.. who really cares?

Female Norn have the best female animation. Female human on the other hand are kind of bouncing from side to side.. very unbalances..

a lot of people still believe in the old ‘boys need to play with cars and girls with dolls’ tale. For me it is pretty simple. I think that game designers usually spend more time on female designs then on male or are more motivated it seems, thus making better looking armor for female characters. I usually play both, depending on the game. In GW2 I created a female Norn and a human female of different profession just because I didn’t want to go through the same story line in the beginning. As was said here before me, the male designs don’t appeal to me, therefore choosing female….

well, FB is where most ppl go to when there are problems. You should see how many posts they get when the server is unreachable. That is why they post there.. where the majority of players are.. simple..

How does the cultural wolfborn bow match the wolfborn armor design? I think they copied the wrong skin onto the wolfborn bow. No detail, just a design and black/white.. ??

I am certain a-net is doing all they can to get a handle on the botting problem. It is not as simple as dumping the suspicious accounts I suppose, so I am confident that this is a diminishing problem.

Got a female Norn ranger, rolled a Human elementalist but really like the Norn. Most likely using Norn when re-rolling a different profession. Norn all the way!

I like the idea of changing it and I don’t think it has much to do with complains, whatever they where. The change would be done in real life as well if the old statue where destroyed. A new one, perhaps from the same artist would be created.
It would be easy enough for a-net to just paste the old one back, instead they go with the story and create a new one! Cudos!!

Reading through this thread, I came to realize that I actually do like the fact that there is no gear grind like in other games I played (Aion, Rift..etc..). I also enjoy that I now can slow down and not worrying about the Joneses as Leiloni.7951 stated.
That may not work for everyone but I think it is a nice change from the usual gearwars..

I have to say I was puzzled by the inability to move my skills and thought I just don’t know how they are moved. Soon I found out they are not movable and I question the purpose behind that decision. In every MMO I played one can move the skills so there has to be an explanation as to why GW2 didn’t go that way..

I love the underwater environment and combat. As 80 ranger with 2 gold weapons I don’t have any problems even with swarms but remember as lower level it was a bit difficult and the space bar got used a lot. I usually never paid too much attention on my underwater weaponry before which turned out to be a mistake when faced with stronger or multiple mobs. Also, I believe since most combat is made on land, the skill level under water is a bit lower, which it was in my case anyway..

Thanks for the info folks.. unfortunately I thought deleting the item from ‘Items I’m buying’ would cancel the order.. Apparently now I can not get the money refunded.. wouldn’t be a big deal but it was over a gold…
Edit: Some of the Black Lion agents are broken.. tried a different one and was able to get the refund.
