1 thing play WoW then, seriously what you complaining here?. Gw2 is not the the best pvp, but the others have also there problems. If you think Wow is better go there ranting.

ok for start this is not a rant, i’m a average player sometimes god sometimes noob.
95% of the time i play solo. It’s fun to play with team members, but as i can’t be continuous online it’s no fun for them if they have to wait.
Just saying that for the people claiming pvp is only team. I like this game, i like this pvp there are layers in it, doable for casual difficult for advancers.
Now for the class i play it’s guardian (yeah lol), i have thorn but i play a not thorn build, and at the end i think it’s rather strong (ex op warriors are np and it’s a fast one) so guardians maybe look beyond dh.
And again my build is semi to support people before you ranting me playing guardian solo. Now for Anet: nice you adapt pvp during seasons and i think you going the good way, but still some tuning need to be done.
as stated in other threads class stacking need to be addressed. Also maybe a bit tuning on y matchmaking, expected wins or losses call for missuse. ( as some stated you can predict what will happen and that’s no good for a pvp)

Well you right also, the drop in clocks isn’t that big too explain the sudden gpu load (50% to 100%). Somehow, as you only experience it after a while it seams temperature related or a broken driver or mem leak, …
Are you using the 64bit client?

I think at least one of your videocards is throttling, 3 reasons to think so :
- a 780 throttles above 80c unless you set a higher temp.
- load of the cpu remains the same but videocard’s go from 58%load to 95% suggesting a lower clock(strange cause you see 1124MHz/3499Mhz : is this the setting or the real measured value?)
- after you restart the cards, they will be a little bit cooler but probably go to throttle again when the load is applied.

another strange thing.
when normal:
card at setting 784/2997Mhz is running 70c
card at setting 1046MHz /3499Mhz is 63c

so i think you should check the first card

to test you could also reduce base clock with 20 % and check if it is still happening.

(other games is no info if the load is not known)
edit : load of cpu is even less main thread going from 62% normal to 41% also suggesting the cpu is waiting.

A tool like “http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html” or any other monitor tool will give more info.
edit: also your videocard is running pci-e 1.1 x16 instead of pci-e 2.0 x16 which is a power save mode.

first guess : your cpu, core 0 is only running at 823Mhz (multiplier -8), should be 39 (3,4 Ghz) at heavy load, in that case clean your cpu vent and cooling element. But difficult to say if you don’t see all cores, something else could be stalling so the cpu has nothing to do.

y deimos, if they steal get your teammates on points, somethimes it’s better to let them steal. All depends on situation.

ah Agemnon, sry for my post, you go for the best, thing is if you are not in a team you can only try. My tip if you start and not in a team say hello and ask for basic initial rotation.

k for the best fps and do what y need for y team but exploit? Just play the game.

can only agree with op, solo is different thing to team, you’ll never know who is in your team. Metas are based on interaction, preferable with teamspeak. Solo players have other needs, they don’t know who they get, so meta’s aren’t always the best options. As i see it the one who is complaining is not adapting and ruing the game.

despite the many topics about “ha we should play another game” , i see alot more in pvp maps. And unfortunately i’m a solo player so legendary or diamond is out of my reach, i still hope you will keep adapting leagues so the diehards will get fast games also without joining low tiers . For the match setup i can’t complain, y i want to win more but 80% of the games i play are really fun. Thx for the effort you have put in pvp this last months, but as many ask balance should go faster. So happy New Year and give us a nice January present

@dank you’r right about perceiving things and also right about better professions and sry about my post, i like your playing attitude for never giving up. But if all people only play the meta builds (professions) it will be boredom through hell.

“great players” adapt to their team, i know you were ironic. But best players i saw tried to encourage and lead their team in chat even when 150 points behind, i can’t do it, but it still happens. Is our pvp community falling apart? I don’t think so, but more are playing pvp (some in forum try to say otherwise). So more players, more rage, more who think they are unbeatable. As for the afk, i always report them for botting.

I’ll refuse to go in that braindead meta stuff. Maybe in diamond you can’t do anything else, but still, meta is such “ho they play it, i should do the same”. Brainless people, the few who started the meta are good with it, the followers are mostly bad players.
The only problem atm is beeing a meta AND a bad player you still win and that’s something ANET should solve.

Anet please answer about misusing mmr (i saw y thread about cheating, is this the same ?) Nah using cheats in pve is different then using cheats in pvp ( y your top players using it ). What y planning to do for solos?

I’m just an average player.
I don’t care about lvl’s or leagues, the game should give fun to me and all others who play pvp. (which means also fun for die hards.)
If in pvp i’ll do my best to win, not going for mmr tanking and if die hards go for it then you have a big problem.
Instead of answering other threads, please give us an update what you plan to do with leagues.

looking at your screenshot, i see your system is throttling in 2 ways.
1. the multiplier is only 15 ( “FID” ), should be 18 under load, so you have only a system clock of 2 Ghz instead of 2.4 Ghz.
2. internally the cpu core clocks are modulated (“Chip”), meaning the core’s are only active 37,5% of total time, this should be 100%.

so you system is throttled down to 2/2.4*37.5=31.5%, so about 3 times slower compared to normal conditions.

Also you should make a log with throttlestop, it will give you more info when and how things are happening.

as for the cause i’ll have to guess,

• i still suspect the heatsink or fan is not working good due to dust, but i saw your notebook and there’s no easy way to clean.

• some people also notice to low voltage on the monitoring pin from the supply can cause throttling, google is your friend

edit: it didn’t make a difference because while you selected “turn on” you are still just monitoring. in order to bring the chip modulation back to 100% you have to select the check box “chipset clock Mod 100%”, while doing so track your temperatures ! Also read the guide first.

You can use it for monitoring if your laptop is throttling or actively preventing throttling. A lot of laptops use too safe termal settings ( sometimes just because of a undermentioned power supply). As MrFayth said as long as you beneath 80c you’r safe when manually preventing throttle. Remember a laptop is like a vacuumcleaner, the vent is collecting all dust into the cooling element, clean it in time. It’s not uncommon that some laptops start throttling in range of 65c certainly the acer ones.

For one it’s anets decision not yours, they can give mercy as they want. Second i find their autoban to aggressive, i’m not breaking Tos in anyway but could be auto banned due to sharing ip or pc. And last referring to a post for readability is nice, but filling up the thread is not.

nice the racist thing , you just asking Anet to not unban anyone. The support for when banned could be better, the innocent have no way to prove it atm, unless they can express their unbelief at other forums. But allot are banned for good reasons if they get their account back it’s a gesture from Anet not racisme.
That said, i’m a bit worried, i bought 4 accounts, 1 for me, 1 for a friend , 1 for my daughter and 1 for my son. In the week, i’m not at home playing from a different ip. In the weekend 3 of those accounts play from the same ip address, sometimes from the same pc, as if they can, they use mine because it’s faster. My children are playing in other guilds then me and really, i don’t check what they doing, that would be weird for me. So if one of them share an account with one who is using a hack , i would be auto banned. This is going to far for me.

Your shader clock is locked to the gpu clock.
concerning gpuz:
- gpu core default = 967Mhz then gpu core readout is 1120Mhz
- gpu core reduced = 774Mhz then gpu core readout is 914Mhz

so i’ll guess gpu clock offset is about 150Mhz.,
instead of reducing base clock you could also reduce this offset

it’s about stable (over)clocking the card (the author also mentioned some manufactures oc’d their cards to aggressively.)

Gpu at 99% means, this is the bottleneck at that point in game and not the cpu in your setup.
If running at 1120Mhz it probably still will be the bottleneck,
but you’ll make maybe a few frames extra at the cost of extra heat and possible throtthling (read the link above), having at the end the same performance, 914MHz is almost the same as 967MHz

Still i find your temperatures high, 50 C no load 83 C with 20% reduced base I expect them to be 10 lower, did you already removed the card and checked visually under the vent?

Probably you’ll find a safe setting by lowering the core or memory clock or set the fan higher,
but then again the card should work at clocks specified for.

you could start with both see if it’s stable, raise 1 etc , it’s kind of trial and error. In order to see the difference, set shadow and rest on, and no frame limit.

you just confirmed “don’t look at other games” ,every game does it own optimization, and nvidea does optimizations for their driver for certain games (and gw2 isn’t one of them), that’s why i said try monitoring y card during play. I wouldn’t go as far as saying poor implementation of the video, the forum would be overwhelmed with unhappy people. And also try lowering you clocks as you stated the oc’d 600 series isn’t well designed, your videocard also has a memory controller and memory, it won’t be the first oc’d card which has strange behavior with certain load, the more load you put on y card the faster y crash ( shadows, no frame limit etc) points in that direction. But as always it’s just a guess, could help if you know someone for lending another videocard to test. ( you could just be the lucky guy who had bought a card with chips attached at the bottom range of the specification, or bad pasting or bad soldering or wathever)
edit: ah missed that from agnes, i would start lowering it with 20% see if it stable, and set it a bit higher again so trial and error

Could not hurt to try that and i hope it works for you.
But still 85 c after 6 minutes is rather high for a single card, i should expect stable below 80 C with ocd factory settings, normally they dimensioned the vent and cooling element in this way.

Not having issues with other games says nothing, did y already monitor y gpu during gw2 play ? ex, TechpowerUp GPU-Z (you can make a log file, you will see gpu load, mem usage, temp etc.) ex. a bad pasting, bad fan settings,.. can lead even with low load to high temps. 100% gpu usage shouldn’t also be a issue for a card it should be designed for that, it only becomes an issue when something is wrong. Again stress tests say nothing when only run for 6 minutes, you desire a stable system at his highest capabilities. With nvidiainspector you can also change clock settings ( lowering them wont hurt y card and it is also cheap ).

Leamas, furmark is a stress test, normally your videocard should become stable at a certain temp after a while at 99- 100% gpu load ( Stress is NOT 6 minutes) You can follow this also with nvidea inspector or another program. Mine for instance has 82 C at 1920×1080 (20% oc), 73C default clocks. If you temp is not yet stable at 85c you can not tell if your gpu is capable running at full load at y current settings. Keep in mind furmark only stresses the gpu unit, you won’t know for instance what happens if both cpu and gpu are stressed ex. is the power supply capable enough to sustain the needed current. In my case i have to reduce oc in 64bit client, as it seems the power drawn by the cpu in this 64bit client is higher then the 32bit client for my pc, and as i use my power supply at his limit i have to reduce the power drain somewhere.

edit : did you already try lowering video card clocks ? : strange colors, not responding driver, 85 c after 6 min?

I don’t understand what you guys are complaining about. I literally 1-shot or 2-shot everything in every -80 level zones with a full ascended armor. Enemies would be 200% tougher and the game would still be too easy for my taste.

It is exactly what we are saying, downscaled 80s are weaker than lower level characters. Not sure how this is acceptable to anybody.

repeating this won’t help low lvls are noway near downscaled 80’s, But y if you are narrowminded keep autoattacking

@swoo that’s what i meaning with funny. lvl 2.. 6 is not static, you have it for just a blink in y total play time. Alot of games use easy mode for low lvl’s (just power), to encourage new players in the game and let them explore . Just read what MiniEquine says. Or like Farming says “now i have to do a little bit effort for doing AC solo”. ( should be like that if you solo a dungeon for 5 players, you also don’t melt a boss solo in 80 lvl zones with one shot). At the end a low lvl area is still way to easy for a lvl 80, i totally don’t see you point.

lvl 1 to 79 is just a way to lvl 80 where the game starts at that point you outplay a new player even if you had 30% of his power.

a new player will never have all best gear for his lvl ( this is just theoretical)
and if he has , 10 min later it’s outdated because he lvls to fast.
fo me they can even more downscale lvl 80’s, still way to easy in low lvl areas.
@Kennedys if you ever will have that chat with a “<80” i would change my playstyle

normally i don’t have any problems with gw2. But ok it happens very few times , you have a disconnect, due to router, pc or whatever. But this one i experienced for the first time : capping a point and ending in char select screen. I select my char an playing again no probs, but team was 150 points behind when i came back in. Anet this is a killer for pvp, i don’t get it for some you pvp server kicks but you login server still alive ? during this i was skyping so no net problems.

just what I experiencing, during pvp when you are killed guild chat is reset.

All other chat is ok but all what is from guild is cleared. Tried it a few times now always the same when killed all from guild chat is cleared.
and also switching chat tabs (but mentioned before)

it depends on the resolution of your tv screen, in your case the tv is 1920 x1080 so normal hd probably same or less then your current monitor (if you already selected 1920*1080 in gw2 there will be no difference monitor/tv framerate) Don’t forget to change crop settings on your tv (in standard mode, edges are removed to exlude artifacts of tv programs)

the difference was I had no lag, just random disconnects

kill I just complain about the fact that I should join another team opposed the one I started. And ok that’s not really a problem as people do some hotjoin while waiting for solo or team and teams should get even. The problem now the system is misused. It’s just to easy to get a team up, look at the waiting times for solo etc Hotjoin now is more a structured pvp then the other ones

it seams now get some people in same ts , get them them all in same team (easy with the switching) and get some some free points nah anet DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT

lol Nexed do you read all? I don’t care about losing or rewards. I join most of the time the loosing teams, the problem if you start winning again you forced to the other because some have setup a nice ts for getting points.
last time I saw they offered one up in the loosing team just to make things faster

I read some about team switching in open pvp. And yeah it’s really something they should change in open pvp. A lot of people do open pvp and even there’s no thread about open pvp? I’m an average player but I refuse switching teams and it’s becoming really hard now, mostly I’m in the winning team and then you got message “do you want to switch” NO I want to stay in team I started. Mmm following open pvp in spectator mode is a nice feature but it shouldn’t be an open gateway for people in ts to switch to the winning team. Can’t you just say once you selected a team you can only join that one ? even when you went in spectator mode.

That’s odd, also playing since launch and same as you experienced this since last big patch. Strange thing it’s not a crash only video driver is rebooting. I’m playing on a laptop video 460m. I have always some monitoring stuff on and it’s definitely not a temp problem. The game is still perfectly playing for me, but I noticed some strange behaviours since last patch it’s like the new update started from a source 1 year ago.
