That’s all fine and good, but the point of the thread was to make it so you have a way to avoid invisible traps, not change 1 hit kills or losing lives or going back to checkpoints.
If you also notice, there are plenty of invisible spikes that pop up out of the ground when Sonic runs them over and kills him. All about memorizing where they are and knowing when to jump.
Yes, but if I remember right they go up and down independent of the player actions giving you a chance to see and avoid them.
Apparently nobody has ever played games on the Sega Genesis. Most (perhaps all) of the games on that console had it set up so that when you die, you start all the way back to level 1. One game in particular comes to mind: Tiny Toon Adventures. You played as Buster Bunny. I remember getting all the way to the last level in that game (there were about 20 or so) and then dying. Once you died, it was back to level 1. There was no save feature. None of the sonic games had a save feature either. Once you died, you started all the way back to the beginning of the game. Those are the kinds of games I grew up on. Unforgiving, hard, challenging, engaging and fun.
Also note, in Sonic, you could only be hit once before dying. The first time you were hit, you would lose all your coins. If you didn’t collect any coins back before the second time you were hit, you were killed and had to use a life. If you had no more lives, then it was BACK TO LEVEL 1!!!!
That’s all fine and good, but the point of the thread was to make it so you have a way to avoid invisible traps, not change 1 hit kills or losing lives or going back to checkpoints. I doubt most of the games you’re referencing had invisible instant death spikes around every corner. Even though instant death was common, the hundreds of invisible traps were not.

The exploding flowers are the ones now moving with the wind…jus a tip
As for the invisible spikes: they are only cool, because they are invisible and you have to memorize where they are. It wouldn’t be a challenge anymore, if you could just see them O_o
I consider a challenge to be something to be overcome by skill, not by dying to something that is 100% out of your control and then trying again. That’s just my take on it though. With the way I mentioned, they would still be invisible, you’d just have half a second to dodge away.
You’re excited to craft more kitten?
Yes, yes I am! I for one really like gathering pieces to make one great item. That being said, the less items you have to buy and the more items you have to earn, the more I like it.
I loved Tribulation Mode! It was hard and I loved it anyway I remember when I noticed the way to tell where lava was in the first tribulation mode and I went, AH HA! I loved the feeling that I got when I was able to see and avoid certain doom. On the other side of things, I have to say the one thing I really didn’t like in Tribulation Mode was the invisible spikes. I understand the point behind them and that the mode is teaching you through trial and error. That being said, I really didn’t enjoy walking around and being subject to instant, unforeseeable death a couple hundred times. A few times is ok, a lot is ok, but… they were just everywhere. I knew not to go the “obvious” way, but even then, invisible death was around every corner T_T
How about a very subtle way for people to see where spikes are, similar to the lava in the first level? Or, maybe have the spikes be invisible, but when you walk over them the tips are barely visible then after half a second the spikes come out. This would give you the tiniest, split second to get out of the way or dodge. I imagine that I would have a greater sense of achievement if I was able to make literally split second life saving actions rather than just killed by the 100th invisible spike that I had no way of seeing.
Just a thought, other than that I LOVED IT! GO JOSH

Worry not, a fix is inbound.
Is it going to work in WvW now? If not, will you consider it at least? :c
I was soooo excited at the prospect of using it as my guild runs around in between fights, and I was totally crushed when I found out we couldn’t use it in WvW. It didn’t say that you could only use it in PvE either so I learned out after I bought it.
(edited by Revans.2018)
I kind of regret purchasing it, I mean I LOVE it, but it’s so quiet even at max I cant hardly hear it. On top of that I was absolutely broken after I found out you can’t use it in WvW. Why wasn’t that communicated
Thank you for the Eternity update, but!

I was super surprised and excited about the Eternity changes, they are amazing. But there’s still one bug that’s been part of the weapon since the start and that’s no blade trails on its projectiles like guardian #2 or warrior #4. Twilight/Sunrise have it but it’s still not working on Eternity.
Overall it’s still amazing! Just that one last little thing. I know you’re busy so no rush (I waited 10 months lol) but just wanted to put it out there.
Add SAB to the Activity Rotation Permanently
in Super Adventure Box: Back to School
Posted by: Revans.2018
It’s not a traditional activity, but it could easily be made one, just finish a level to get credit for your daily. Or they could chose a random level. It’s not like the other activities, but I don’t see that as a bad thing.
Add SAB to the Activity Rotation Permanently
in Super Adventure Box: Back to School

I remember when it came out the first time and people’s hearts were just crushed when they found out it was temporary (myself included ). I understand why though, something like SAB would get old and lose it’s luster and probably do more harm than good if it was around forever. So what I propose is doing something a bit in the middle. There was an activity rotation recently added that gives you a new activity every day. I know SAB isn’t the same type of activity like the rest, but I think SAB is something that so, so many people would love to stick around and could be a good fit for activities. If Anet is worried about it being too common they could make it a “rare” activity that only happens every few weeks or so. They don’t have to do achievements or even rewards once SAB is no longer part of the normal game. SAB is one of the few parts of the game where just playing it truly is it’s own reward.
The details can be up to Anet, but just adding SAB to the Activity rotation would surely make so many people happy.
I made this post 10 months ago o.o
Someone noticed!
This is all sort of a moot point isn’t it? No one can see your rank, enemies see you, but they don’t know it’s “you” who has that rank. Your allies can’t see your rank either.
I wonder if someone had access to the forums and made it so that swear words were there to troll
it says kitt kitt kitt, that’s probably something else that was then censored by the forums.
I thought of a great one they could add!
Endless Petrification Tonic
I’ve opened a fair few chests over the months and I get this feeling of “meh” every time I do. There’s never any excitement when I open them because I know that nothing important will be in there. The only drop that I hope for are the ultra rare drops like the contracts or the tonics, but they’re so rare no one actually knows how rare they even are.
To make these chests more fun, I think there’s a whole bunch of amazing possibilities for items that can drop. These would all be rare drops, but the less powerful they are, the less rare they are. And you could trade these on the trading post as well. Here are some of the ideas I have and feel free to add some if you think of any.
Permanent Portable Laurel Vendor
Permanent Portable Dungeon Vendor (dungeons+fractals)
Permanent Portable Crafting Stations (one for each profession)
Permanent Portable Basic Merchant (doesn’t sell items, but will buy items from you)
Permanent City Portal (like to LA, or Divinity’s Reach)
Permanent Dungeon Portal (teleports you to Cof, AC, etc.)
Permanent Finisher Moves (like the cow finisher or the Super Adventure Box Finisher)
Permanent Salvage Kit (of each type or just the basic)
Permanent Guild Vault
Endless Repair Canister
Endless Transmutation Stone (1-79)
Endless Transmutation Crystal (1-80)
Endless Banners (with a set cooldown of whatever time Anet deems best)
Endkitten x of Fun (apparently saying Endless and Box of Fun together is censored )
Endless Tonics (like the already existing ones but more types)
Endless Fun Items (like fireworks)
For people that don’t know, there’s already similar, but extraordinarily rare items in chests that I’ll also list.
Endless Mystery Tonics (can turn you random objects)
Permanent Trading Post Contract
Permanent Black Lion Merchant Contract
Permanent Bank Contract

Go team!
Even though it’s the same teams it seems like every week brings a new twist : ) I still have just as much fun now as I did weeks ago.
Looking for one week of the matchup thread that is not dominated by passive aggressive TC posters making condescending or misleading posts, or by my own FA even bothering to respond to these pompous winkittens.
Bottom line from the GM of a guild that has fought most of the best guilds in WvW, on either side of the NA/EU divide. You aren’t going to find any of them on TC.
A few of the terms that I see being thrown around here loosely are " classy" and “respect”, both definitions of behavior of which I have yet to see from the posts of the self appointed TC forum voices.
The funniest part of it all is that TC can’t afford to try the idiocy of the dolyak parade ever again, because PPT has overtaken their lives, the need to beat FA is in and of itself a fine reward, each call for reinforcements from an already huge server a quiet joke for the observant.
Oh, one final note…. TC posters, you can drop all the pretenses of how “nice you are”, we know you are in a win at all costs mindframe, and it’s ugly. And no, my guild isn’t interested in transferring to TC, so please have some self respect and just quit with the harassment.
Blrrgh
Armored FISTHi Blrrgh!
I know that niceness and kindness are two different things. Just because one person hugs you does not mean its love. I get it, I know the deal…etc! However, as far as FA’s gameplay goes, I can judge and observe because I did play a lot of WvW on the side of FA. I’ve played a lot this week on the side of TC…
If you wish to talk about non-PPT..Just killing players?
Daze on our group of five, decimated many groups of five. We aren’t the best in the world, but it also proves that some of the FA guilds are all talk, specially when talking about havok squads. Remember how you boasted to be better than TC? You aren’t! and we have to say that we are having an easier time killing most FA guilds on the field than we had at killing more TC guilds out there.
How about in the zerging? FA claims to be better and not zergball at all? Guess what…The only guild we have not consistently destroyed from a pure pug group lead by a commander this week has been BT, but…a commander with 50% of his force guild-members and the other 50% pugs, destroys BT consistently over and over again across the map.
You claim FA never gives up? More like TC does not give up. They are willing to go all seven days and not sleep on the job. If I want a break and do my daily, I can go to PvE where there are so many more players on the map that I can get things done while on FA most of the maps on PvE are empty outside of the high level maps or start zones.
Remember, half my guild is on FA and all I need to do if you make a “true” or “false” claim is to go ask them to check up on it and they will not lie to me on the matter. If you make a claim about TC, I am on TC now and can figure out and see truth over lie…
Finally, TC is cheerful enough with their antics on the field in WvW, but I love those antics because truth be told…yes! I have seen a lot more friendliness and kindness so far from TC than FA. In fact unlike FA, TC actually appreciates small guilds, their actions and effort.
Oh my gosh. “My group is better than your group, my zerg is better than your zerg, FA sucks blah blah”
When will you stop? If you want a challenging 5v5 I dare you to beat my group.
Chest thump more!
Pssst, Mister Pickle, I will let the cat out of the bag and I do it only because I like you.
Everytime AoN is seen on the map TC people simply say, just run right by them and get on with the task at hand. Whereas your group is good at running around with 8-10 players you are viewed as a non threat and a time sink to chase around to try and kill, so we don’t being almost always other things take president.
I don’t say this as a chest thumping kind of deal. I’m just letting you know why groups from 10-30 are passing you by without so much as slowing down to wave. TC views AoN as more of a havoc team that goes around contesting POI or taking camps, attacking stragglers and such. Kind of a weak tea but whatever floats your boats sirs.
Whatever makes you feel better, I suppose. Our 5 man wipes anything less than 30 people. If you’re running more than 30 people, the simple fact that you’re sticking as a huge ball like that is a time sink on its own.
Saying it so arrogantly doesn’t make our server, you, or AoN look any better. I know you’ve done 5 against 30 before, but saying that you’re going to win any fight against less than 30 just with just 5 isn’t something you should say like that.
Titles are about as pointless as winning your tiers. % increase in gathering or <insert random skill> here, woop-deee-dooo.
Peeps join em cause they like pvp, nothing more nothing less.
Titles have always been there and especially in GW1, there’s a group of people who really value titles, not everyone cares, but plenty do.
Hi peoples, I’m new to these WvW threads, but I’ve been a long time WvW player. I used to be in IoJ but almost everyone I knew left to FA so I’ve been there since the big move.
I’ve been following these for a few weeks and I don’t understand what all the hate is about I get that rivals will be rivals and have the competitive spirit and all that, but why is there a certain group of people (from all three servers, not just one, TC seems to be the best though) that are always upset with some other guild/player from another server. I used to read them because I enjoyed seeing how our servers interacted with each other, but now it’s got too much drama and isn’t nearly as fun to read.
I know I’m just some random person you don’t know, but could you at least think about it? Every time you call people out like that you make your server look bad to anyone else reading it.
(edited by Revans.2018)
Devon, could you at least tell us of the numbers change in size? Does the maximum number of players per server per map ever change?
I like how it is now. I don’t really care for the enemy to know my name or other achievements; I’m already fairly easy to identify in the field anyway. I don’t understand the desire for all of the senseless bragging and posturing.
The idea is that if you’re given a title, it doesn’t have any meaning if no one can see it. With the way it’s set up, it would make more sense for there to be achievement points with each level instead of getting titles that no one can see. Why make a title that no one can identify, they might as well not exist at all in their current state.
I don’t think id like to log on in a week or two and be told I can’t do X because I’m only rank 10, or hear ‘need some r20+ to come ninja something’.
I think that’s a concern and it’s also one that Anet brought up, but I don’t see something like that being common, especially outside of tier one. I have a feeling that almost all of the community will not take issue with it unless it’s very very low. Like achievement points, unless someone has a very low amount, you don’t really worry about how good they are so long as they have at least a minimum level.
It used to be one million. Then Anet changed it and it’s now super super super high. So high no one knows. You don’t have to worry about the cap because you won’t reach it unless you’re like the karma king (queen) and if you really have 180 million karma then you are amazing, but should also spend some.
I’ve never been kicked from a dungeon run. Literally never, not once. I have dungeon master and have run about a few hundred dungeons if you count AC farming (when it was easy xD lol). Anyway, I skip fights all the time, I run into people who get upset and I still don’t get kicked.
It’s my theory that, if someone is complaining about getting kicked a lot, they’re the ones causing the problem.
I do agree that it should be 3/5 to kick instead of 2/5 though…
Well rank just tell who ride most in karma train. Kind of pointless.
I think there may be more to it than that. Even if someone is just “riding the karma train”, if they have 500 ranks that means a lot more than someone with 20. Every achievement/title in the game is basically an indicator of how much time you spent on that particular thing, the WvW ranks are just like any other accomplishment in the game.
The other day I realized something about WvW titles. First is that you don’t actually get a “title” that you can display, it’s a title the enemies see you with. Enemies can’t see who you are, you’re just an enemy with a different title after [some sever]. Your allies can’t see your title either because there’s no way to display it.
What I realized is this: no one in the game other than yourself knows that you have a specific title. It would make sense if it was an achievement, but titles are there specifically to identify yourself. It just seems odd that you’re given titles that no one can recognize as being associated with you.
Why not add the ranks you get along the WvW track onto your list of titles?
Culling is -not- removed. There is a universal limit on all servers of 300 I believe
Seeing as the population cap for a given WvW map is lower than 300… what’s the problem?
Pets/clones/NPC’s
Don’t get me wrong, it is far better than it was and view distance is far better but it has not been “removed” so to speak.
You’re too caught up in semantics, relax.
If there’s really 300 characters/pets/NPCs on the screen, what are the chances you would be able to notice that 301st person? If there were that many people there your skills wouldn’t work anyway so to me culling is no longer an issue in any situation.
Is that forreal? Eternitys description is sunrise with twilights hilt?
No, the blade changes between day and night but the hilt is always twilights’ hilt.
So if you see a sunrise with a grey hilt you know that person has eternity!
As an owner of Eternity, I can tell you that’s not the case. When Eternity looks like Sunrise, the hilt is also that of Sunrise. There are many glitches with Eternity, but the hilts aren’t one of them.
I know it’s hard to get Anet responses, but I’m hoping >.<
In the March update for WvW there’s going to be all sorts of new stuff added and progression and such. My question is, will the work that we’ve done so far be put towards the new progression system that will be added sometime in March? For example, if you have 5,000 kills and there’s a achievement or reward at 10,000 kills in the new system: will our 5,000 kills before the update count towards that 10,000?
I just used kills as an example, but really the question is, does anything count towards the new system? I know somewhere Anet said that your achievements would at some point count for laurels and I figured (hoped) it might also be the case with the new WvW system.
It’s still largely broken : (
They fixed the night half of the sword so that when it’s Twilight it will show the black glow instead of the blue. This also affected the novas that come out when you’re unsheathing the sword. I’m actually sad because the blue glow with Twilight was amazing! Even though they “fixed” it, the wrong glow still shows up on occasion. I’m not sure what causes it, but the wrong glow shows up in wvw more than pve.
They didn’t fix the footsteps and you still don’t have blade trails on your attacks. The issue of it sometimes not changing from Sunrise to Twilight in wvw when a lot of effects are happening is still there as well : (
It’d be nice to see those bugs fixed, but Eternity has to be really low on the priority list lol.
I think what a lot of people are saying is that if people can make money in real life or the game that they deserve a legendary if they want to pay for it, but the other side wants it to be earned in game and that real life money shouldn’t have anything to do with it. I think it really comes down to what people thing legendaries represent because to a lot of people they’re more than just an item with a fancy skin. Leaving it up on the TP takes away some of the meaning behind the legendaries. Sure, someone had to go through the process to get it if someone else purchased it, but that’s not what legendaries are about.
The problem is that right now the only gear we do have that is earn-only is dungeon gear, which is still fairly easy to get. Even crafting a legendary is most efficient by buying ingredients like a precursor instead of gambling to get your own. This leaves the scavenger hunt crowd partially at the mercy of the powertrading crowd, so maybe we could use something to show a little love to that side? I know legendaries were supposed to take “all/many aspects of the game” to craft, but that trading section of the game might have too much power over the process.
I would love to see about 400-500 gold removed from the process and add more pve elements. For example, something I’ve always thought there should be was the removal of the T6 materials from gifts of might and magic. There’s 8 T6 materials right? I think a much better goal would be one gift from each dungeon (8 total), 4 gifts together make might and the other 4 gifts together make magic. On top of being much more pve oriented and taking a entire 4,000 dungeon tokens, it would also revitalize less popular dungeons.
The only difference is the gift of mastery, before that anyone with enough real life cash could convert all the gems into gold and simply work on that one very simple to achieve gift.
I think there’s more to it than just that “one very simple to achieve gift.”
outside of the gift of mastery you still need about 500,000 karma and 1,000,000 total. Don’t forget dungeon tokens and wvw. There’s a lot of people that really struggle with 500 wvw badges.
anyway, nobody will buy them unless they have disposable income, which….for 1 weapon is not worth it.
For a few of people it is worth it, legendaries have already been sold and more and more are getting closer to finally being sold as time goes by. As long as the option is there, people will buy them. The question is, is that ok?
Their are no players stupid enough to buy a legendary off of TP or invest few hudred dollars on a imagines game weapon.
I know a few people that make literally thousands of gold on the TP, just playing the TP. I also know that there’s a lot more out there beyond just the few that I know. The issue is being able to buy a legendary with some clever TP skills. There are already offers over 1000 gold for several legendaries.
How is this any different than buying gems to gold so you can purchase the mats for the legendary?
The only things that you can’t buy:
-karma
-world completion
-skillpoints (though you can buy this through paying to level crafting)
Don’t forget the 500 wvw badges/dungeon badges. It’s true that limitless gold will make the process easier, but the ~one million karma/world completion/wvw/dungeons isnt something so easy to entirely write off.
This is one of those things that has two sides and there will always be a lot of people that say it’s ok and then there’s the other side that says it’s not. Neither is right or wrong because it’s simply an opinion.
My opinion is that it’s not ok, but I’m more interested in Anet’s reason behind this decision. I can’t find a quote because it’s been so long, but I distinctly remember an Anet post about how much work it would take to get one and that there would be much respect for those who earned through their achievements in the game. I can’t prove it, but I also remember a separate comment saying that they would never be able to be sold. Maybe they always were and it’s only until now that we’ve seen legendaries on the TP. I know everyone has their own opinion on the subject, but I want to know why Anet is ok with it. I know people have their own thoughts and you can share them. Now that we know that selling them is part of the game, are we ok with it?
@ Anet: Why is it ok to purchase legendaries with nothing but gold?
I can’t give a lot of details because I was merely a witness. In LA today I was someone standing still and casting an infinite loop of Shield of Absorption. It was up for about 40 seconds each time and he was able to cast it again right as it ended and it lasted another 40 seconds. I tried to talk to him or whisper him to see how he did it and he would not respond. I can’t really bring proof, but believe me, it was real. I even logged onto another character to test combo finishers with it to make sure it was real and not just a graphical glitch. I was able to combo finish non-stop and hist Shield of Absorption was ALWAYS on except for the split second it took for him to cast it again.
Does anyone know how this is done? If it’s an exploit or glitch? If this is real it’s a BIG deal and I would love to know how it’s done. I watched him for about 20 minutes and whispered/talked to him or anyone around to try and figure it out. He never said anything and no one knew, but he had his shield up for the entire time and was able to recast it the instant it ran out.
Just to mention, dont actually craft eternity, it gives no benefit except the name and you can just hold onto both of the skins without getting screwed over by the in game clock.
The big problem is that I don’t play my first character, a warrior, anymore and that warrior has Twilight. My new main can’t use Sunrise if you won’t be able to combine them since they will be soulbound to different characters. The only way I can get to use the legendaries on my new main is if I craft Eternity and bind it to that one, or just use Sunrise on it and never be able to make Eternity. And that would be terrible : (
@Revans. You do realise to make eternity, its not another gift of mastery + fortune (was speculation by the community prior to pita making it). Its really simple and costs 5-10s (for 5 crystalline dust) and 1 sp (for 10 philospher stones). That means as soon as you make sunrise you can probably make eternity straight away.
Yes, but the issue is that the weapon Eternity isn’t finished. The footsteps and many of the trail animations aren’t there so I don’t want to combine them until it’s finished.
Legendaries are soulbound on equip? I didn’t pay attention the first time lol.
I don’t know who it was, maybe it was you? But the first person to make Eternity had Twilight on an Asura and put Eternity on a Norn, I would be interested to know how it was done.
I have Twilight and I’m well on my way to getting Sunrise, but I’m worried about the soulbound legendaries. The legendaries are soulbound and I can’t even put them into the Mystic forge on another character. I have Twilight on one character and want to put Sunrise on another while I wait for Eternity to have all of its effects finished. The problem is, if Sunrise and Twilight are soulbound, how can I make Eternity? If you equip one of the legendaries are you forced to make Eternity on that character? Do we know if the legendaries are going to be account bound?
I’m trying to get a clear answer so that I don’t put Twilight on one character and Sunrise on another and not be able to make Eternity just because they’re soulbound.
Are you able to hide your engineer kits from view like you can hide your normal back piece or helmet?
I’ve tried using the search tool to find an answer, but if there is an answer, I couldn’t find it.
I really want to be able to hide the kits that engineers use because on humans they look pretty ridiculous sometimes.
What people don’t know is that the legendaries ARE more powerful that the other exotics of their level. They’re level 81 exotics! You get that tiny tiny tiny little boost. like 15 damage boost. It’s kinda funny.
Twilight:
Weapon Strength: 1011 – 1117
+182 Power
+130 Toughness
+130 Vitality
Normal Exotic level 80 Greatsword:
Weapon Strength: 995 – 1100
+179 Power
+128 Toughness
+128 Vitality
I know some of the events are bugged, but are all of them? I’m specifically talking about event chains and not just single events.
I’ve been in and out of Orr from time to time for the past few weeks. I don’t farm there all day long, but I do occasionally spend some fair amount of time there. In all three zones I NEVER find event chains anymore. I have scoured all three zones and several servers and they are all effectively dead except for literally a few small pockets where people try to farm events.
Are they all bugged? I know some are, but where did they all go? I was in Orr since the first week of the game and there were events left and right to the point where I would be surprised if my minimap would only show one event.
You could say that now that people are getting to 80 that those zones aren’t as busy anymore. To that I say that may be true, but I got to Orr 4 days after the game came out and it was a VERY busy place despite almost no other players being there. Fast forward to present day, it’s an empty abyss by comparison.
What happened to all the event chains?
It’s likely that only those who frequent the trading post in Lion’s Arch will be able to shed some light on this subject. Can anyone tell me what is causing these drastic changes in centaur spear head prices from day to day? Yesterday they were 10 gold pieces and today they’re 20. I only check in on the prices from time to time but every day I hear that yesterday they were 10 and now they’re 20. How can the prices for this item fluctuate so rapidly? It seems like they change in price like clockwork and if we can figure out these price fluctuations there’s potential for a lot of money. I just can’t seem to find any further information on centaur spearheads other than the Skritt seem to be the only ones that do.
Do you know what’s causing these fluctuations?
Best way to get them (I think) is to kill people. And the “safest” and fastest way to do that is to defend a keep. Stand on the wall and drop oil on people zerging the door. Or use any big AoE.
I defend a point whenever I can, but I almost never get bags of loot and fewer still have marks.
As the title says, what methods do you use to get the most badges of honor? I’ve seen people with a LOT of badges and I get them so very rarely. Almost half of my badges are from the jumping puzzles. Can anyone shed some light as to how you personally get those badges of honor?
