Sorry but I can’t resist!
The skill I want back: SMITER’S BOON!!!
High five for you if you understand the fun in this post! :P
They already brought it back. It’s called Ride the Lightning now
That made me laugh so hard.
Btw, totally forgot that Smiter’s Boon is already in GW2. But they made it “20/180” (Tome of Wrath) instead of “25/90”. Memories, memories…

This idea is awesome! I would love to see it implemented because I know that a lot of people get frustrated when they miss Living Story elements!
Sorry for the following troll post:
People get frustrated when they miss Scarlet?! Geez…i get frustrated when i fail to miss her!

Your idea of fusing gear is nice. I like it cause it can free a lot of Bag/Bank space and add some “on the fly” customization to your character.
However combining the ability to change Looks, Stats & Runes in a single item can become a very messy system.
I would prefer having a “fusing” system related to stats and a separate Wardrobe system related to skins. A combination of the two, while better than what we have now, leaves me with some doubts.
How about an npc in the Hall of Monuments, that you can show any item of clothing or armor to? And he then automatically adds it to your locker?
Hi Malafide.
I like that idea but you have to think that your suggestion would lead to an extreme devaluation of Fine T-Stones. You could skip the Transmutation process entirely using that method.
Would it be good for players? Oh yeah!!!
Is A-Net going to give up on a big source of revenue? Hell no!!!
That’s why i think my system is pretty fair…both for players who want such a thing implemented and for A-Net who wants to keep making money.
Hi !
I’ve seen a lot of posts mentioning the adition of an Wardrobe System and I think I have a pretty good idea for it. While most systems proposed by players will lead to a serious devaluation of Fine T-Stones (a huge source of income for A-Net) my system would probably rise the demand for them, because of completionists and people that like to change between multiple looks on a regular basis.
My proposal:
When you transmute two Items, both skins will be added to a PvE Locker (in your Home Instance) and will be avaiable for that CHARACTER to use whenever he likes. To put it simply, if you Transmute a Draconic Coat into a T3 Human Coat both skins will now be avaiable for you to use on that CHARACTER in any armour you have, all you have to do is visit your Home Instance.
This could also be retroactive, meaning all skins you transmuted before this change would be avaiable to you on your PvE Locker.
(As a little extra, the skins could also “Unlock” in you PvP Locker…but i believe i may be asking to much! :P)
What are your opinions on the system i proposed?
Have a nice day
Hi Chris. Thank you for creating this topic.
First of all, I was completely agaisnt the introduction of Ascended Gear, as I figured that it would lead to some major issues. Sadly, you guys at A-Net just started to acknowledge it now and began asking for feedback and possible changes to the Ascended Gear System.
While i think the current system is on a pretty bad state, regarding aquisition and customization, and fully support most of the ideas people gave in this topic (easier to aquire, changeable stats, …) you, as a developer, have to think that major changes can lead to some major backlash. You’re really walking on thin ice here! Failure to implement changes in a fair way can cost you a big ammount of players. For example:
Ascended Gear is kind of a “Status Item” right now. It shows dedication to the game and huge money investments. Make it much easier/cheaper to get and people who worked hard and paid huge sums of money for it will be kinda kittened! Changeable stats can also make people that bought multiple sets or crafted a Legendary feel ripped off.
I know that you, as a Dev, are probably more aware of this than I am! But, just in case: Find a balance that pleases both sides!
Have a nice day.

I seriously don’t get why people want this Champion Farming nerfed into oblivion.
Can’t we have a realiable way of making money in this game?
The FS & CS Champion farming is perfectly legit! People doing this 2 farms are in no way affecting people who CHOOSE not to (besides making a few gold an hour)! Also…the CS farming brought players to an area that was lacking players since the huge “fixes” A-Net has made in the past. It’s easier to find people to do those events now! How is that bad?
I understand the complaints related to glitching & halting progression of an event just for farms sake. I actually despise that (Union waypoint farm & Arah steps Giant farm for example)! But CS & FS Champion trains dont use such shady methods.
Regarding the Queensdale train: i can’t blame the players for zerging these events in hope for good loot! They would not do it if the rewards for doing other activities were good in some way. A-Net overnerfing of anything rewarding has led to this! Blame their bad decisions…not players wanting to make some cash…in a cash driven game!
Hi guys!
First: sorry for my bad english!
I recently made the following post in a thread but since it’s a busy thread i fear people can miss it so here it goes!
“I liked most of the stuff written in the recent article except for ascended gear and weapons. But reading trough the posts i saw one brilliant idea and im pretty sure all the players would love this.
A-NET: the idea is:
1 – Make Ascended Gear/Weapons/Trinkets work as the future Legendarys with the ability to change stats when out of combat. This would be sooooo awesome. It would also fix the current problem that Ascended Stuff is extremely multi-build unfriendly. (Example: If i wanted to do High Level Fractals with two different builds on the same char, power & conditions (LOL! Conditions!), i would have to invest a huge amount of time just getting the apropriate gear)
2 – Admit you made a mistake and revert Ascended Gear to Exotic Stats (while retaining the infusion slots for Fractals). Ascended Gear currently doesn’t add anything to the game. People that don’t want stat progression hate it and people that do want stat progression find the inscreases to small.
This would make Ascended Gear something to work for even if you had no interest in fractals. It would make the Anti-Ascended crowd that left come back running to the game and your reputation with the playerbase would skyrocket. People could choose to focus in 1/2 builds with simple to get Exotics or do a long term investment with Time Gated/RNG Ascended.
How is this not AWESOME?
Cheers, REXX"
But one solution would be to revert the changes that made orr so empty. And from there you can do the more exciting and rewarding stuff
It’s certainly one of the options we discussed, however it brings us right back to the initial problem we set out to solve, a large part of the player base was asking for more exciting and difficult open world content in our top end areas. The original version of Orr events were painfully easy, they didn’t scale well, mobs evaporated into thin-air and you had to race to even get a hit in before they died to get credit for kills.
The ideal balance point we’d like to have is with the scaling and more exciting encounters we have now, so it’s actually fun and at least remotely challenging to play there, but also rewarding as well. The reward systems we want to roll out to support those areas are part of a larger reward revamp and aren’t done yet, but are on their way and tie more strongly into the comprehensive system we’re trying to develop, thus the swap.
In regards to regular mobs hitting for insane damage, we did find a bug about a month ago causing many of them to scale way out of proportion, it has since been fixed and normal bosses in Orr should be doing damage on par with other bosses in the game. If you find any that are still nutso, please give us a shout, the intent is they should be fun/challenging, not one-hit-wonders.
Hope that helps give more insight into what we’re trying to do here, these changes are directly tied to feedback we’ve received. You don’t have to agree with them, but it’s important we explain why we’re doing them so folks understand the end goal, which I don’t believe we’ve reached yet until the rewards are there as well.
And now off to do that work thing, thanks for the feedback folks, as always keep it coming we really appreciate it!
Hi Colin. While not very challenging, those events were fun & rewarding. As of now these events/area are neither funny, nor rewarding and not even challenging or exciting. They were quite “dead” for some time and the recent change with the timers have made the issue much worse.
My suggestion is to have the best of both worlds:
Penitent/Shelter/Jofast/Plinx/Etc: Revert them. Make them highly farmable events like they were. Simple & Rewarding! Given time you can also make other areas like Frostgorge, ML & SoD have these kind of events to spread the population a bit)
Temples/Gates of Arah/Risen King/Etc: Keep the challenge here. These should be rare events events that require some coordination, have exciting mechanics and keep players on their toes. Up the rewards a bit (some unique rewards maybe?) to entice people to do them and get rid of those silly thing that are not challenging…just annoying (Champion Spider/Lyssa’s Illusions/Champion Chickens).
With this you would please both crouds. You’ll have simple content for farmers and casuals while also having challeging content for hardcore players that rewards skill & coordination.
Hi! I completely agree with you! This has been suggested many times by a lot of players (me included!). I dont understand why this isnt in the game yet.
Example: When you dodge your pet gets Invulnerable for 1sec (maybe less).
This would be a huge increase for pet viability in Dungeons. The impact in Open World PvE, WvW and sPvP would be small enough not to break these formats.
If you ever feel like using the Sceptre, slap yourself and use the Sword instead.
I completely agree with you but since i’m not much of a melee player i would love to have a good ranged MH. Bah…lets hope it gets buffed sometime (one can dream!!!).
Hi Darkwolf. I see you’re going for a Condition build right? In that case both Rampagers and Carrion are good options. However there are 3 things you should consider:
1 – The “Illusions bleed on crit” is, hands down, the best trait for condition focused mesmers. So i think you should use it to maximize damage.
2 – While Staff is nice for conditions, Mesmer don’t really have other Cond weapons. While Sword/Focus adds some defence and works good with Staff you should consider the fact that it has no damaging condition and as such is best in Pow/Pre/Crit builds.
3 – Condition mesmer are not very good at tagging in DE so if you plan on doing mostly DE be prepared not to get a lot of loot. In Dungeons most Mesmers run Pow/Prec/Crit builds with GS & Sword/Focus because it offers the greatest damage and the survivability isn’t an issue with proper knowledge and the right traits (Vigor on crit for example lets you dodge like there is no tomorrow). Conditions specs are not sought after by other players when it comes to Mesmers.
Hope this helps.
Hey guys! Recently created a Mesmer and i’ve been playing around with different weapons. I like all of them…except the Scepter. How do you people use it? What kind of specs? Cause i find it bad in Cond Builds, bad in Pow/Prec/Crit and even worse on PVT builds. The only good thing about it is the extra block and even that feels clunky.
Opinions?
TY
Just want to add something. I’ve created a Mesmer alt and leveled it to 76. I’ve been doing map completion, killing lots of stuff, dynamic events, etc. So far i got 0 Rares from mobs! That’s right…0!!! Not kidding! I’m almost at max level and no mob dropped a yellow.
How is this working as intended?
For me it’s really simple:
- Make Ascended items have the same stats as Exotics.
- Only diference is that Ascended items can be Infused and are vital to progress in FoTM. Those infusions should be expansive & require some work to craft. People wanting to go far in FoTM would have to work hard for it.
There you go! You please the casuals (no VP) and the hardcores (Gated Grindy Content!).
Hi! I agree with those that say crit is important and that is especially true for an Ele. However, don’t go all the way. In my opinion if you go for a crit chance above 40% (without fury) you sacrifice to much in other stats.
I run S/D & Staff. I use Knight’s Armor with Scholar Runes. Weapons are also Knight’s with Sup Sigil of Fire & Precision on Kill. For Jewel’s i use Beryl ones.
With that setup you get nice levels of Tough/Vit/Power/Precision & Crit Damage.
I Trait Air, Water & Arcane. I have perma Vigor (Renewing Stamina), high upkeep of boons like Regen, Swift & Prot (Ele Attunement) and some more defensive traits in Water.
I run with 15-16k Hp & 1,5k Tough. My Crit chance is 33% (gets boosted to 45% due to Sigil) without fury. Crit damage is 60-65%. I survive nicely and i do some pretty big hits (8k Firegrab…4,5-5k Burning Tooth…2,5k Fireball…etc).
Hope that helps.
Hi! It’s nice to see that attention is being given to this (HUGE) issue. However, we’ve had a huge amount of people telling in numerous posts that they’re getting far less drops than before. Asking people to give data when those threads got 0 attention from devs and some were closed/merged seems a bit “off” imo.
Well, rambling aside, here is my (not so concrete) data:
- Veterans and Champion Mobs: I’ve killed the Champion Risen Abomination near Caer Shadowfain 15+ times in the last days. I got loot from it 4 times and it was blue/white stuff. I’m pretty sure I tagged it since i’m a high damage dealer and i stay on the event from start to finish. Also…i did it solo 1 or 2 times and in some other ocasions i did it with only 2-4 more people. Getting loot from a Champion (that takes a while to kill) 4 out of 15 times is extremely unrewarding and goes against everything stated on the patch notes.
Events: I farmed the Cursed Shore events a lot before the update. Those were crowded and it was challeging to tagg mobs sometimes. Now these events have far less people doing them and tagging mobs is much easier. However, i get less drops now and the quality of them is really low. Before I usually got 1-3 rares per event and now i’m lucky if i see 1-2 Rare per 10 (YES! TEN!) events. These are so unrewarding and frustrating (due to the low amount of people doing them) that i really don’t find myself having that much fun.
I hope you guys start giving some serious attention to this issue.
Best regards!
I don’t know if this happens with other people but i’ve found that against Risen some pets “hold agro” better than others. They tend to ignore almost all of my pets (Bears & Birds particularly) but they focus my Canines a lot.
Repairing/Updating existing content should be the TOP priority right now. Adding new content when the current one is bugged as kitten (Traits, DE, Dungeons), balance is questionable (at best!), systems needing improvement (sPVP, Guilds) seems like a bad decision imo.
Well…you know what’s worse? The patch was suposed to fix the drop rates of Champs, Vets and Chests! Guess what? It didn’t! Actually…it broke drops everywhere!
I’m also experiencing this. Massive decrese in drops from all types of mobs. Most things i kill don’t drop anything at all and the ones that drop give low quality items (Trophys, Whites, Blues…Greens if i’m extra lucky!)
Hi guys. I don’t know if a thread has been made about this but since the Lost Shores update i’m getting a massive decrease in loot from all kind of mobs. I’ve talked with several guildies and most of them noticed it too. It’s quite a big diference. I could get 2-3 rares per event in Orr before and now i do 10 events and i’m lucky if i see a rare at all. Actually…most mobs can’t even be looted…they drop nothing.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
I mostly agree with OP and everyone here. Orr is just SAD! When i leveled my first char i didn’t notice how bad it actually is but now that i’m taking an alt trough there i find myself having no fun at all! First…most of the place is empty. I’ve just completed the 70-75 map and i saw 3 people there. Yes, 3 people in a “High” population server (and i spent 2 hours there). 70% of the WP were contested and the events had no one doing them. Getting from point A to B was painfull considering the density of mobs and the ammount of Chills, Immob & Pulls they have. The other problem with Orr is that 90% of the people you see there are in the same place, doing the same thing over and over. Are they to blame? No!!! They’re doing the only rewarding & non-frustrating activity you can find there. And then they get hit with DR, nerfs in drops & spawn times…

This is the build i run most of the time when solo:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fEEQJArYhImkbpR4gjEAEFnYSQBBKIKURRxM5A
Hey guys. I need some advice.
In Solo PvE I’ve built my Elementalist arround Scepter/Dagger burst. My predominant stats are Pow/Prec/Crit Dmg and i can do some nice damage. I also went for some Vit & Tough to make my build more balanced. I also have Superior Sigil of Fire (the burst of AoE damage is nice) & Superior Sigil of Battle.
However…i have 0 Condition Damage and when i look at my skills i feel like Scepter/Dagger combo is focused a lot in conditions. I kinda feel like i’ve built my char the wrong way.
My question is: Are burst builds viable (or good) with Scepter/Dagger or should I focus more on condition damage?
@Nurvus
Yeah! That would work too! In fact…i think your idea is better than mine.
Hi guys. I don’t know if this has been posted yet so I apologise in advance if it has been posted indeed.
I would like to see implemented in game an item that lets you salvage upgrades (like jewels, sigils and runes) without actually destroying the item. It will work like the Perfect Salvage Kit in the original GW. With the current salvage kits you always have to destroy the item (getting crafting materials in the process) if you want to get the upgrade. With this new item you would keep the item, get the upgrade but you wouldn’t get those crafting mats.
Example: You are using a Knight’s Exotic Weapon with a Superior Sigil of Fire. Then you buy a Berserker’s one and would like to put that Sigil on it. You have two solutions:
- Salvage the Sigil from the Knight’s set – this would destroy the weapon (a weapon that costed you gold and that you could use later on).
– Buy a new Sigil spending more gold (it’s an expansive one btw).
With this new salvage kit i’m proposing you would keep both the Weapon and the Sigil you have worked (hard) for.
I think this would be a great quality of life improvement. What do you guys think?
