The CC thrown out by mobs in Orr is a little absurd, yeah. I take special pleasure in delivering a grand “screw you” to the mobs every time I pop stability. Sometimes now I’ll kill them out of spite, but 90% of the time I just breeze past while flipping the bird to their rotten kitten
I have the same problem, but with knights gear rings. They simply do not exist which is disappointing. I don’t need a ring with crazy condition dmg, power, or crit dmg on my guardian.
Right there with you. I can’t for the life of me understand why they would leave the Knight’s stat combo out, but that seems to be the case.
Very disappointing.
I’m hoping they did include those stats because that’s what I run with as well.
Get a guardian and mesmer in your group. Portal plus a runner with a speed boost and condition removal = two wisps in the bag every time. But in all seriousness, just watch where the red circles and traps appear and then don’t step on them.
They kicked you right before the end of a boss fight? Report them, simple as that.
The gating progressprogression in the secret world was actually really good. In order to get past a “gatekeeper” and into the Nightmare mode, you need a solid gear set and build and a good bit of skill with your chosen ability path (tank, dps, or healer, but I’m sure Anet could come up with something).
THAT is a gating mechanism that people get behind, because once you’re in, you’re in.
Signed. And I’ll probably sign many more posts like this… I want to do this content, but the fractal level requirement is a terrible, anti-social idea. Just chalk it up to bad judgement, fix it and move on.
I’m in the same boat. I was happy with the old system. Now I fell completely behind in a single weekend and will only fall further behind because I am a casual player. It won’t be long until I’m 2-3 tiers behind just like I always was in WoW.
Right there with you. I keep wanting to play the new fractals dungeon, but everyone is already looking for people who are several fractal levels higher than 1. At this point I’m not even going to try… if I find one, cool, and if not then I’ll just keep on dicking around and exploring the map. The dungeons have been out for what? 4 days now? And I’m already behind? No thanks.
Sad thing is, I really enjoyed doing dungeons up until this point.
At least the game doesn’t have a sub.
I hope so. The first time I saw the area while exploring a while back, I literally just stopped and stared for several minutes. Floating castle? Hell yes.
I run a staff condition damage build, I do shatter my clones but only when I want to drop more conditions or spread some AoE confusion around. You’d be amazed at the difference that a bunch of +20% crit buffs bouncing off of the boss will do for a group… vulnerability helps too.
Edit: running a 10/25/10/0/25 build at the moment. Upon further reflection, I do shatter my clones a decent amount, but only because I’m generating them so quickly. Utilities are Mirror Images, Radiation Field, Signet of Domination, and Time Warp. Gear is precision, toughness, condition damage (trinkets are power, precision, condition damage only because there isn’t a precision, toughness, condition damage trinket set). Runes are Undead.
Basically, drop as many conditions and buffs around as quickly as possible, keep doing so until the bad guys are dead. Profit.
I’d be very interested to see a good Non-GS build though, could be worth picking up another gear set… what’s this Mantra-based build everybody talks about?

I really liked the Ancient Karka, thought he was really tough and had more interesting mechanics than just “swing your weapons in the space near him for a while.” The whole thing with the rocks and geysers was ingenious.
That being said: THE LAG. It doesn’t matter how awesome the fight mechanics are if we can’t actually participate because our abilities fire off 60 seconds after we pressed ythe button. This is the reason why I no longer do the dragon champion events. It needs to be fixed if they’re going to keep including this kind of content. I hope it is, because the general idea is kitten.
I’m glad more people are bringing this up. Planning to start fractals tonight, but all I saw when I logged on were people looking for fractals well past level 1. Looks like casuals are going to have a rough time with this.
You’re forgetting about those of us who actually tried to play during the event but were unable to participate due to the insane lag. Just makes big rewards that much worse.
In general I am very happy with the game. Totally worth the initial investment. I just wish they’d figure out a way to keep a ton of players in one area without massive lag.
Yup, right there with you. I had to sign off because it just became unplayable after a while. Gonna log back on in a little while, hopefully in time for the end of the event…
This has to be a troll thread. Remove the condition… why, exactly? Because it doesn’t benefit a certain build? Maybe if you were asking to have it replaced with something else, sure, but to remove it completely? No thanks. You can be kitten well certain that whoever is in your group appreciates that vulnerability you just applied.
You think that sucks… I got a new computer and the game client won’t load from the CD, so I’m stuck downloading the WHOLE THING through this mess. See y’all tomorrow morning!
I was sustained by pure anger from the moment I started the puzzle until I finally completed it the next day.
Don’t forget the new craftables. The pumpkin cookies are great for people with condition builds who want a little more g for their time.
Good thing my Asura is already bald!
My build is a shatter- and condition-heavy staff build, and I have zero trouble tagging mobs in group events. Spawn three clones, send them in with CoF. Six stacks of confusion on every mob in range, plus whatever other conditions you’ve got in your traits. Combine this with a chaos storm and your staff auto attack and you’ll be raking in the sparkles.
Trust me, there is always a way.
Human Elementalist, air magic passive speed boost.
Spent hours on it with my Asura, finally gave up because I either couldn’t see him or the camera would flip out.
Switched to my human, only to have it bug out three times in a row and send me straight to the water. Gave up for the day.
Came back today and tried it again with new major traits for the speed boost, got a group composed of mostly normal-sized models, finally made it! Adrenaline? Yes. Fun? Meh. Back to killing candy corn elementals and glow in the dark spiders!
I’m actually just sad for wasting my time. Couldn’t see my character (asura) for the first hour or so thanks to the large characters all around. Switched to my largest character (if you can’t beat em, join em), only to have the clock tower bug me out into the water before the event started several times in a row.
Everything else about this holiday event is great, but this? No thanks.
To be honest, it would just be nice to be able to SEE MY kitten CHARACTER. Norn and Charr make it pretty impossible to see my asura…
Tossing in my vote for the baby quaggans in costume.
The scavenger hunt comes in a very close second though!
Warlock does kind of stink… but I’m relying mostly on conditions, boons, and bleeds so hopefully it won’t hurt too badly.
I will buy the crap out of some weapon skins, chests, whatever it takes. Anet, you evil geniuses.
