I’m so glad you can just right click portrait to report people in this game. Remember how annoying it was in GW1?

Griefers...

This reminds me of the commander in Edge of the Mists who kept leading the team straight to BL and FR zergs so they could kill us for easy loot bags.

Sure it can be annoying but unless you’re completely mindless, the solution is simple. No one is forcing you to follow zerg, in fact champs there can be taken down with very small groups and we do it all the time as a guild.

There are dozens of other ways for you to quickly farm gold in this game, don’t kitten yourself on just one.

Is GoM primarily a SEA server? I ask because CD definitely is but I didn’t find out until logging in basically at 5am and then being floored at how many people were active on the CD TS server. Definitely something you should consider

I really loved how GW1 forced you to have a two part name. It was as if every person had a first and last name and helped a little to reinforce a unique identity with each toon.

One word names, especially stupid ones you pointed out, feels wrong, like a verb or adjective slapped over someone’s head

Still waiting for end game content

I feel like the sub level 80 content in this game is at least quadruple the post level 80 content. While it made for an absolute satisfying leveling experience, it didn’t last very long after 80. This is because mediocre map completion rewards left little incentive to return to lower level areas.

This is the opposite of GW1, where leveling up was long and boring to me, but at least half the story is experienced while at max level.

Thanks to the patch, I was able to kick my GW2 habit. Watching the World Cup and camping on the coast taking up my free time now.

Speaking of free time, I’m starting to get nervous for this game because a lot of kids are starting summer break and are either searching for new games to play or reading whether going back to GW2 would be worth it. Not to mention the Summer Steam sale just started…If Anet doesn’t address this soon I think a lot of kids are simply going to spend their summer breaks playing another game.

Personally I can care less about the skin because all my graphics settings are low (thanks to world bosses and eotm zerg vs zerg). I enjoy min/maxing however so that stats actually interest me. Regardless, actively working on making one will be the absolute, absolute last thing I spend my time on in this game

This new system is having the opposite effect and players are spending even LESS time in active PVE. This is because many of the events are ‘random’ aka not timer based or are impossible to complete solo.

As a result:
1. Players simply AFK/idle in that spot and hope to Alt-Tab back in coincidentally as the event occurs. AFK/idlers screw with map capacity which of course screws legitimate players that want to participate but are sent to another instance.

2. Players teleport in to ask “Any events?”, then immediately go back to farming WvW/PvP/Eotm for Scrolls of Knowledge anyway when told no events are occurring.

3. Players spend their time begging for help over chat but sometimes not enough players are available to kill said Champ. They have no choice but to skip that content despite willing to do it at that very moment.

4. Players literally never bother zoning into those areas unless another guild member announces the events.

In no way does this system promote fun PvE gameplay.

Agreed, this deserves some kind off fix and I think OP has the simplest solution. I carry one of each weapon type and swap out of combat often, so I encounter this all the time.

The worst part was when I was still using Rares and was always afraid Id forget and sell my sigil’ed gear by accident.

More Gear, More Meaning

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Scientia.8924

More gear would be nice.

The problem is lets say you introduce a bare minimum 3 new ‘themed’ sets (PvP, WvW, dungeon). 3 themes x 2 sexes x 3 armor classes x 6 pieces = 108 individual pieces of armor that need to be designed and then rendered in 3D.

Hell we all would love that, but there are much more pressing issues that need immediate attention at the moment. Realistically the Living Story changes and next season of competition will tie up the next few months with patching

If it’s fixing crap that doesn’t work (such as Melandru’s preventing GM trait unlock, Guild Rush failing because of gate bug), we need to get it ASAP

You better believe I’d rather wait for a long download to finish than to organize a group of players and find out I wasted everyone’s time due to glitches

The reason they don’t have Cross-weight armor is because different peices have seams in different spots. Ex: The skirts on Heavy and light are part of the legs, but on medium they are on the torso, therefore, Medium and light/heavy cannot be combined without heavy clipping issues.

This, and I can’t imagine this game having any more clipping issues than it already does.

Game Updates: Traits

The one thing I think is absolutely ridiculous is this whole unlocking traits thing. Some of the things you have to do are outrageous… and make no sense at all. Autotool Installation, for example, has to be unlocked with a level 70 quest. You get the level for that trait at level 48….
This update ruins the character training experience. You literally have no traits because almost none of them can be locked anywhere near easily. You have to kill the Karka Queen for some traits… how is a new player or someone who doesn’t have a huge group going to ever do that?
The buying prices are also outrageous. All that gold for a single trait?? And what is with the skill point cost? I want to spend my skill points on SKILLS. That’s why they’re called skill points. Not traits.
I feel bad for any new player that has to go through this… they probably won’t get any traits long after they’re level 80.

Please reconsider this change. At least make the unlocking system more logical and possible for newer players. And without a doubt lower that rip off cost of these traits -_-

As 1 of those NEW players I could not agree more …….. Ridiculous tasks to unlock Traits I wished to explore, now I cannot ..

Anyone know how many Skill points I will need on way to 80?

I mean how many do I have to save as there has to be a finite number right ? or is there way to get more other than the ones on the maps ?

Scrolls of Knowledge can be farmed from Champ kills in Edge of the Mists.

Many players completely ignore open world PvE and unlock traits this way.

The irony is that Anet is unlikely to ever remove Scrolls from there because:

1. EOTM is ‘end game content’ for many players working on Legendaries. Make that any harder and those players have every reason to quit for good
2. It will just lead to even MORE world boss farming (this deserves a thread itself but basically it screws the economy bad if gold dumps can’t keep up)

Leveling an alt is so much more tedious now

However, all your other characters seem to earn a millyun Tomes of Knowledge each hour now.

How do you get tomes of knowledge? im just been doing map completion lately so i dont know. Is it just from bosses or what?

You can do PvP (which is the exactly opposite of what Anet was trying to achieve with the trait unlock system – drawing players to unpopulated PvE events/bosses), or I’ve heard Gold Boss Blitz, can’t confirm since I haven’t done, but that’s not permanent anyway

edit: You know a system is broken when multiple players are telling you how to complete it in ways that go against the purpose of change that developers hoped it’d accomplish

Leveling – that is finding sources to gain XP – is extremely easy

The problem is with the trait system, characters are ‘weaker’ than before because they don’t have traits to compliment their builds

No – then you can unlock by concentrating on them. It is not hard.

This belongs in the Trait thread, but I guess I’ll dump it here. Character progression should never depend on other people’s cooperation or ‘random’ time spawns.

Example #1:
I come home late from work and have an hour to play. I ask for help to defeat Grenth and instead people refuse to help – because the failure event gives more loot. The next day I log in, by the time the event chain would finish I have to leave.

Example #2:
I have a good 2hrs to play. I need Melandru’s and guess what – it’s bugged for god knows how long and NOBODY can cap it. GG.

It takes maybe 5mins to kill the Priests? But players like me have waited DAYS hoping both players available+time of actual spawn fall within their window of gameplay.

This system fails not because we’re not ‘concentrating’ on unlocks, but because factors out of our control are preventing us doing it when we have the time to

Wouldn’t that 1hr be better spent running 1 or 2 dungeon paths and then just unlocking the trait with gold? Or killing 3-4 world bosses and selling the Rares on the TP for 35s/ea. Or playing EoTM and selling your loot. Or crafting one bolt of damask and selling it. Or doing an Iron Ore/Platinum Ore node run and selling them.

There are plenty of other things you can do to gather the money in 1hr to unlock those traits. You don’t have to wait days to unlock anything. Ever.

Being able to complete 1-2 dungeon paths in an hour means forming a party on the spot ASAP – so most likely with pubs. I can’t even count the number of times pubs ended in epic failure.

I agree that dungeon gold yields can be good, but the gameplay itself I don’t like, which for speedruns often amount of mesmers running TP gimmicks. Besides the fact that it’s not entertaining to me, the SP rewards aren’t enough (see below)

As for your last 2 sentences – each GM trait costs 3gold and 20SP. On average I can play 1 hour a day. Even unlocking via EOTM, there is no way in helI I can farm 3gold and 20SP in 1hr aka 1day. Even 4 world bosses won’t come close to 20SP points within the hour.
