Let this be a lesson to Anet or any future devs here:
Don’t release major patches right before the weekend starts
Are there any plans to make Teq’s feet critable, or will only just his head remain critable from now on?
I believe the term you’re looking for is ‘easter egg’
We need bosses that require thought to fight. Not a lot of thought, but something more than stand in one spot and autoattack.
I honestly don’t think they will change any of the existing boss mechanics, but if they made boss hits do double the damage they do now, players would be dodging / blinking / leaping all over the place. Let’s see them argue ‘grindy’ then
What it sounds like is players would like more textured dyes
These types of sub forums always turn toxic and the moderators have enough to deal with in the forum as a whole, there are plenty of other places outside of these forum to discuss those topics, go there.
Obviously it’s better that they be toxic in a subforum rather than in the main forum used to discuss upcoming changes, balance issues, etc.
If someone created a topic on this forum asking what people think of the American courts decision to legalise gay marriage then obviously it’d be locked for not being about GW2. If they create a topic about how Marjory and Kasmeer’s relationship is portrayed and some posters mention the US court decision during their reply that doesn’t change the subject of the post.
The thread would degenerate to a Supreme Court decision argument regardless of however the topic title was written. At least then the thread can be moved to an off topic subforum to allow players to express their views.
I understand why they did what they did – doubling world boss HP instead of nerfing conditions doesn’t screw with the other formats.
…it doesn’t? I was pretty sure that it screws everyone..
Remind me again how doubling PvE world boss HP affects PvP and WvW?
I appreciate the suggestions, although depending on people to ‘do the right thing’ and take it elsewhere is wishful at most.
If Anet (or Gaile speaking on behalf of the company) truly wants to promote open discussion on this website, that’s fine but give it its own space.
Better that players flame each other here than in the actual game. That just splits the community even worse.
I was unaware that Gaile made a comment about open discussion.

There were a few more posts by her, more or less asking the same thing repeatedly. Of course in the end the thread went south and they decided to close it.
I understand why they did what they did – doubling world boss HP instead of nerfing conditions doesn’t screw with the other formats.
A lot of players in game are saying world bosses are now too grindy (debatable but whatever).
The question is, how do you prevent players from killing the world bosses too quickly, while not making them feel grindy, and not screw with the other formats (as would be the case with a condition nerf)?
I think the answer is simple but unpopular. Maintain the original world boss HP’s but significantly increase the damage that world bosses do.
1. When players need to dodge or heal you are effectively dropping their DPS.
2. Grind = monotony, which is EXACTLY what Anet is reinforcing when you’re just doubling the time players stand there and spam 1 without fear of dying.
3. The fact that it is only buffing world bosses also means, again, that they are not screwing with PvP/WvW balance simultaneously.
I appreciate the suggestions, although depending on people to ‘do the right thing’ and take it elsewhere is wishful at most.

The visibility for the new hero challenge icons is very low on the maps compared to the old skills challenge icons.
The gold color blends to much with the environment compared to the old blue colorPlease, change it.
Thank you
I agree with this, it’s easy to miss, especially if on top of mountains on the mini map. A simply color change should be enough
Just use a ground-targeted skill to “see” the stones until the sword works again.
Good advice, most reliable to do this IMO
Requesting a subforum for all political/religious/sexuality topics.
Keep the Gameplay forum for Gameplay suggestions and feedback.
Most of us would agree that the game is a mess at the moment (condi balance, world boss bugs, prepurchase confusion, etc.)
Let players flame each other for their political/religious/sexuality views in an off-topic subforum so you can focus on what we all have in common – Guild Wars 2.
It’s quite simple actually,
If you do not respect the views of ArenaNet, do not support ArenaNet financially
Is it okay if I started an openly pro-heterosexual guild? Because equal rights.. Right?
But you know, to each his own. If you want to make a guild based around a knee-jerk reaction to other people being happy, well that says alot about you.
Or, they are heterosexual and would like to create a guild around like-minded people, without automatically being accused of bad intentions.
Kind of like what you just did.
The only knee-jerk reaction I see here is your post.
Creating a guild that is “pro-heterosexuality” is offensive and against the rules, it would be like creating a guild that was “pro-white”.
That is quite a narrow view of the big picture. A guild that is pro-______ in itself is not offensive or against the rules, it’s how those members conduct themselves towards those who don’t share the same views.
Do its members conduct themselves with pride, or with hatred?
Just because a guild is pro-something, does not mean they spread hatred –
does [LGBT] spread hatred towards heterosexuals? Hell no, they’re awesomeThe same guidelines should apply to all guilds, whether you like them or not
pro-____ guilds are offensive when they are clearly trying to counter and aggravate a struggling minority. In particular issues of gender, race, and sexuality. A pro-hetero guild is a clear example of that. It is incredibly insensitive.
Nice to see that half the thread went right over your head.
A guild that is Pro-______ does not mean the guild is “I-hate-______”. It is hateful players with the intent to spread hate.
One can argue that the majority is insensitive of the minority, just as easily as someone can argue the minority is overly sensitive of the majority. You need another perspective.
When we allow one group to be recognized, we ought to allow all groups to be recognized.

There is an invite only pro-White guild that has been around for at least a year. For the most part they behave themselves out of fear of being banned, lol.
If guilds that promote race are allowed to exist, so should guilds that promote any sexual orientation, religion, etc. Just don’t kitten other people off
Posted this in the other thread:
This was on a full map, lead by a guild. Not even 50% health reached in 15mins
Fixing the crit bug will help, but I have a feeling double HP (Teq) might still be too much
Tired of garbage like this, Anet test your dmn patches before releasing them
If that map was truly organized by a guild, and a bone-wall appeared, then you quite possibly deserved to fail. On top of that, you fuzzed out the time – for apparently some reason to perpetuate your agenda. I also notice fish-heads, which only occur from a tidal-wave, or the map has reached sub 1:30 times. So, I call shenanigans.
Your post screams so much stupid I will post another screenshot and maybe you can redeem yourself:

- Fuzzed Timer
- Fishheads
- Bone wallHiding something; or the guild who organized it had no idea what they were doing.

ArenaNet has a stupid habit of splitting its community in half
If you disagree with their actions, don’t support ArenaNet, its employees or its franchise
Moderator, I am requesting this thread be deleted… its a cesspool of hate from both sides, and has nothing to do with the game. Or at least move it to the off topic designated forum area.
Surprised they decided to reopen this thread, so I’ll bite.
First, the NPC is irrelevant to both gameplay AND storyline, so this thread belongs in a General Discussion subforum, especially considering the messed up state of the game at the moment.
Second, it begs the question, because the NPC is irrevelevant to both gameplay and and storyline, who approved putting them in the game, and what were their intentions?
Third, as in my previous post, I don’t care about the NPC (since they don’t do anything) and also don’t see the point of it since the vast, vast majority of players will never encounter it in normal gameplay, nor have any useful reason to know of its existence.
Last, Anet needs to stop doing crap that splits this community in half. The last few weeks have been straight up embarrassing for the company.
It’s different, but ultimately pointless and lacks any relevance to the game itself.
While some members of the community will interpret it as some kind of recognition, others will see it as Anet just trying to be edgy.
To me personally, I can’t care less because I would have never talked to the NPC in the first place.
Those are some clever ideas for trolling
Regarding blocking access to Hero Banners, instead of spawning Merchants why don’t they just go the cheaper route and use other banners? (placement is tricky but if done correctly it will glitch out access to the bottom banner)
And let’s not forgot players using cheap blueprints on top in WvW to block access to chests, superior siege and in general get Zerg to waste supply
Took me 3 days to hit level 80 in Edge of the Mists. Did that for 5 toons.
Yes, it is both incredibly quick and easy to level up in GW2.
The specific reason why I encourage power leveling: You can enjoy completing your Personal Story from beginning to end uninterrupted. Preventing players from progressing for the sole reason that “You’re not level _” is incredibly stupid.
Already completed Personal Story 8 times and plan on doing the same with my revenant when HoT is released
I generally agree w/ most of what the OP has said.
Exploiting in dungeons, I wouldn’t consider ‘killing the game’ though (I guess if you equate fast gold = messing up the economy)
The rampant exploiting (aka cheating) in WvW…although hilarious at times, now THAT’S killing off a fair amount of player interest in that part of the game. It usually goes unnoticed, but if you’re cool with the cheaters on your server they usually let you follow them around and you would know exploiting can go on for hours
There’s cheating in PvP of course too, but personally I haven’t encountered that as much as in WvW
Weird…I could have sworn I’ve AFK’ed doing that within the last month or so. Anyway trying it right now just to confirm
Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet
Edit: On second thought, looks and sounds even more selfish than necro currently is lol
“Reaper shouts differ from warrior and guardian shouts in that they focus more on harming foes than they do on bolstering allies.”
Facepalming so hard here. Not only did they get it wrong, they did the opposite of what we were asking for and then rubbed it in
(edited by Scientia.8924)
The only time its against the ToS is if you are AFK and set up some system so that the game plays itself automatically (either by macro, script, or whatever); that is considered botting and will get your account actioned.
What you say is true, although I laughed pretty hard because a lot of players simply bypass AFK detection by setting skills (that don’t require a target) to auto cast.
The irony of threatening to ban players while providing them automation functions within the game that literally make the game play itself.
On a side note, the longest I’ve seen someone AFK in one spot was for three days, lol.
Stackable burning >> bleeding. A simple tweak
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Scientia.8924
Burning stacking will be massively superior at x7.7 Bleeding DPS unless we severely reduce the stack limit.
That’s only true if it’s as easy to apply burn as it is to apply bleed and if the applied stacks are the same duration. Neither of these is true AFAIK.
ESPECIALLY if Anet goes ahead with restricting Taunt to HoT class content only
We already know of at least one instance of a core profession getting taunt, namely rangers using one of their grandmaster traits in the beastmastery line.
1. Agreed, I mentioned that bleeding has more sources than burning. To differentiate burning from bleeding, they could make Burning stacks shorter duration but higher DPS like in GW1, but higher DPS w/ shorter duration is still always the superior condition to low dps w/ longer duration (Bleeding) because there is greater dmg pressure and less of a chance to cleanse before 100% damage has been dealt.
2. Ah okay, was unaware of that. I still think Taunt will have very few sources, as to add Taunt to ANY core skill would completely change its mechanic.

Stackable burning >> bleeding. A simple tweak
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

For those that listened to the presentation yesterday, it was strongly hinted that burning (and poison) are becoming INTENSITY stackable (not duration). At the moment:
Bleeding stacks intensity:
(0.05 * Condition Damage) + (0.5 * Level) + 2.5 per stack per second
(0.05 * Condition Damage) + 42.5 per stack per second at level 80
**Sidenote – There are many, many more sources of Bleeding than Burning
Burning stacks duration:
(0.25 * Condition Damage) + (4 * Level) + 8 damage per second
(0.25 * Condition Damage) + 328 damage per second at Level 80 (per stack??)
The problem:
1. Burning stacking will be massively superior at x7.7 Bleeding DPS unless we severely reduce the stack limit.
2. To lower max DPS along the lines of Bleeding, reducing the Burning stack limit by (max Bleeding stack / 7.7) will result in an incredibly small stack. ex: Even at 100 max Bleeding stacks, the equivalent would only be around 13 max Burning stacks, which goes against Anets plan to raise condi caps and make condi builds more viable in PvE.
3. Lowering Burning DPS and raising the Burning stacks still leaves it as a superior bleeding clone and doesn’t promote interesting gameplay.
[Added later]:
4. They could also make Burning stacks shorter duration but higher DPS like in GW1, but higher DPS w/ shorter duration is still always the superior condition to low dps w/ longer duration (Bleeding) because there is greater dmg pressure and less of a chance to cleanse before 100% damage has been dealt.
Idea:
Have Burning deal initially less DPS than bleeding, but bonus damage if foe is NOT moving.
I understand some players will say, “This is the exact opposite of Torment.” Yes, but this reminded me when some players were complaining that Taunt was just an opposite-direction Fear…maybe, but you can’t insta-kill zergs with Taunt unless you can hover in mid air, lol. Anyway,
1. Sources of Torment are incredibly rare. Burning has many more sources in comparison.
2. To counter Torment bonus dmg you do one thing: stand still. This is really annoying because interesting gameplay involves having options. For Burning, the enemy would sometimes have 360’ of movement to choose from, or he may be being set up for an even worse trap. In WvW, this could be another way to force wall campers out of a position, similar to using AOE but condition-based.
3. Extra damage with Torment is triggerable by Fear and Taunt (both very few sources, ESPECIALLY if Anet goes ahead with restricting Taunt to HoT class content only), BUT indirectly by AOEing the enemy position (many sources). Extra damage from Burning would be directly sustainable by chaining stuns and knockdowns (decent # of sources), or if depleting the Breakbar grounds the boss.
One argument might be that this benefits stacking in dungeons. If a condition build is actually welcomed in dungeons, good.
Anyway was just an idea.
(edited by Scientia.8924)
lol at 100 stacks of Confusion = “!”. I can’t even imagine how much damage that was doing per tick/activation
I absolutely LOVED playing GW1, during it’s prime though.
The thought of starting from scratch with basically no one in starter zones and everyone solo’ing with heroes anyway…well, I’d just stick to GW2.
I haven’t been keeping up with HoT news, but IF they decide to go back and change any dungeon bosses with the new Defiance bar, I assume dungeon solo’ing will become much more difficult
Was glad they added it when I saw the patch notes, then totally forgot about it lol. ~80 ping atm, which is actually spot on with all the other multiplayer games I play
WvW, random NPC kill, was just a Vet as well
During winter break I went on a GW2 binge and did as many dungeon runs+multiple Teqs within a day as I could, for 30 days. I was making 25g a day minimum, so at least 750g between December/January. If I had posted all the ectos/rares/exotics on the TP as they dropped them, easily in the 850g range. If I had converted all of that Teq karma into gold, without a doubt 1000g that month.
It just blows my mind how there are still players who complain about being poor. Half the dungeons in this game are incredibly easy (aka stack and kill) and Teq doesn’t even require partying
Just because the last quest isn’t solo-able doesn’t mean your personal choices leading up to the climax are invalidated.
Also, beat the game with 8 characters and never had to wait more than 10? mins to fill party using LFG (this was last winter)
I still laugh when people complain about not being able to solo in an MMO. The last dungeon is hilariously easy as well
It would be rather stupid of them not to release an MMO expansion before school summer break begins (June-ish in US). Not only for the player base/time availability, but that’s when gamers/parents drop cash to keep busy over the break
Also when Steam’s insane summer sale in July, it’s not uncommon for PC gamers to blow all their cash on Steam games that will last them for the rest of the year
Having said that, I agree it’s not coming soon, but a June release seems plausible considering they have outlined and previewed many of the major features.
Will there ever be a situation where it’s better to Pull rather than to Taunt?
Reminds me of Daze vs. Stun (which one of those is better anyway?)
Stun > Daze since when stuned you cannot use skills NOR move.
Pull > Taunt since you can resist taunt with the new boon they’ll introduce and you can use a stunbreak more easily to remove taunt.
Ah very interesting, thank you for clarifying that
Will there ever be a situation where it’s better to Pull rather than to Taunt?

…another version of chill(slow) is coming, and who knows what else in the expansion.
Just want to clarify this, chill only affects movement and skill cooldown, while slow only affects cast animation times, so they have zero in common
looking forward to Taunt’ing Lupi and getting the party wiped
Newcomers to a dungeon party shouldn’t be able to initiate a vote to kick until x minutes have passed
Thanks Zaxares!
