thats a good question. And shouldn’t there be herolds somewhere?
Yeah, I’m pretty sure they’re not going to actually have gay Sylvari. Lesbian Sylvari they can get away with because even the Southern Bible-thumping Preacher will admit to it “being pretty hot” in the end.
Such is the moral hypocrisy of our time, I’m afraid. And yes, I am aware that the term gay applies to lesbians as well. But gay men don’t really have a word of their own…
I know, thats an interesting fact of the english language.
And I was thinking about the same reason, why there are no male relationships.
It might not be the right section to post this, so sorry if thats the case
So, Caithe and Faolain where lovers. I think this is great! So many MMO’s try to implement Homosexuality in their lore and fail because of the intolerance of the community.
Obviously, with the sylvari not having the ability to get children, there is no concern for them to make their partner choices with that fact included. So many of them have a same sex partnership, like Nia and Cymbell in Fields of Ruin and as mentioned, Caithe and Faolain.
But where are the male relationships? And what about the other races? How do they think about this subject? Is this something, that is only a subject to the Sylvari? Appearantly, this is no problem for the Sylvari society, because they all knew about Caithe and Faolain.
I know, that this is a delicate subject to many online gamers, especially younger male persons. Please don’t let this thread be overwhelmed with hate or offensive answers.
The Asura Story was very funny, compared to the personal story of the Sylvaris, it’s just superflat and boring. But thats my 2cents
Please don’t judge me, if I haven’t read all the posts – Im just here, because I think that the way, Trahearne feels of it self, when you are at the end of the personal story. He seems to be even disappointed, that his mission is now over.
You have to understand the Sylvari, to be not disappointend about Trahearne, not joining destiny’s edge at the fight against Zeithan. It’s just not his wyld hunt.
As soon as he is done with it, he asks himself, what his point of being is now.
Where there is a lack of self esteem, there is a possiblity of getting turned into a foe by some upcoming Elder Dragon.
I like Trahearne. He pretty much represents the Sylvari, and there way of becoming part of the upcoming united Tyria.
…where is he flying arround? Didn’t see him, to be honest.
Well, the Humans have theire own problems, as every race in Tyria. But playing a Sylvari, the undead have allways been omnipresent. I mean, Trahearne is the Marshal of the Pact. You get the guidance of the pale tree, and you get to speculate, what the pale tree itself is, etc. Even the Nightmare-Problem is in some ways related to the dragon-problem. From all races, the Sylvari are most focused on Zaithan and its Problems. This is why I also think, that every race has to face, in further expansions, one elder dragon, or at least a meaningfull champion of him, cause you see their caused problems all over Tyria.
The Humans have enough Problems to solve, and they are so far up in the north, so they dont feel the influence of Zaithan, I guess.
Just my two cents
Mesmer – the whole look of the Skills and their skills made me fall in love with. The last Beta Weekend, I discovered a Trait, that let the phantasms use their skill much more often than before. At this point, I could handle three veterans at the same time, and never got killed in spvp.
Unfortunately, they removed that trait in on of the last stress tests – But finally fixed the damage of the shattering illussions. Since then, the mesmer is very balanced to me.
(besides that little stroke the must have had, when giving 3might for every shattered illusion, wich got removed very soon)
First of all – I have never been complaining about anything in this game, I love it, and I especially love it, that there are some things to archive, that require brain and tactics. But The Underground Facility Fractal, ist not hard or complicated, its just making people angry, each step of it.
Why do the mobs immediately have to respawn? Its level 2, I dont want to know, how this is in higher levels.
In the cage, where you have to activate for 20 seconds the door to the next room, how should you keep someones back, if there are 30 mobs running arround?
The same thing goes for the bomb-door. There are too many mobs, the only thing you can do, is going in, droping a bomb, and die. I tried stealthing the group, tried porting the group, tried porting myself. There is no other way, than dropping the bomb and die.
But on top of all, the final boss. Its a super nice idea, to have everyone pull him to the black spots and have one player activate the lava buckets, so you can do enough damage. But leting the boss heal himself about 25%, everytime, he evades the lava. Thats not hard, or complicated, thats just frustrating and annoying.
As I allready said, I like challenges. And for my part, the swamp is not hard at all. You just have to be carefull and open your eyes.
But the underground facility fractal, just split up a very good group, that passed the four fractals before without having one person died.
just had to drop this, of course I know, that the troll will answer with “play wow if its too hard”, so don’t hold yourself back, tell us how weak and nooblike we are.
I am actually very glad, that I get mixed loot, between the area level and my level, because I need some of those low level crafting materials.^^
Its the same in brisban wilderness, I cant even get through them, they are full of boons and I cant kill them. The walkthrough is closed..
Mesmers are NOT a pet class… The core of the class centers around shatters… Maybe you should play a ranger, necro, or engineer?
I am not attempting to be a jerk here. Seriously though the F1-F4 skills are your primary abilities of your class, it is the core of the class’s mechanics. All builds should be some kind of shatter build, there are many different shatter builds. It seems silly that you are trying to use the class’s primary skills as passive/secondary skills, that is not how the Mesmer class should work, at least not effectively :/
So to me it makes perfect sense this buff… it is encouraging players to play the class’s core skills.
I don’t think you understand that every other class has pets except the Warrior. So I don’t get your point.
But anyways there are many different builds in this game for every class. That means that every class can be a tank, support, or damage class. There is no wrong way to play it. If shattered strength needed a buff maybe a small buff would have been ok to test it out. But what Anet has done is just give buffs to everyone regardless of balance issues.2 of our elite skills are 60 second summons, 1 is a 40 second, and there is another if I am not mistaken (depending on race), these are actual pets because they are duration/health based. Illusions are NOT pets, use the mechanic that the class is built around… builds can still be diverse but for kitten sakes the class’s PRIMARY SKILLS are SHATTERS. Is it really that hard to understand? You can’t roll a warrior like a ranger the same as you can expect a Mesmer to function like some other class that has actual pets for example.
You really don’t seem to understand this game, actually. This game is all about playing the way you want, not some way that is actually the best. We were encouraged to create our own way of playing and using our character mechanics. So for Example, playing on conditions, using your illusionary warlock is really great. It deals easily up to 2500-3000 damage with many conditions on the component. This is especially good for dungeons.
There is no “Main-Mechanic” for the mesmer. Every character class has more than one core mechanic. Symbols, Shouts, Ghost-Weapons, Clones, Phantasms, Minions, etc.
With the use of weapon-, slotskills and traits, you can specify your way of playing and maybe your way concentrates on of those core mechanics. But maybe, its a mixture.
I guess, you are a gw1 player – this way of thinking is very common for some gw1, players, because due to the thousands of skills you could get with your character, only a few made real sense. And because of that, groups of players forced each other to use certrain skill-combinations – forced them not to play there own style.
those times are over. I also tried a scatter-build – 24 stacks of might are no problem at all, even without creating clones on dodging. I am not sure, wether I think this will lead to unify the mesmers playstyle of everyone. But, Id like to remember this one trait, that said “reduces the cooldown of your phantasms skills.”
Now, phantasms need about 5 seconds, until they attack again. With this one trait, the phantasms attacked every two seconds. I honestly think, that we need this trait back, especially for lowlevel.
Hey everyone,
I have no clue, wether this was allready an issue, so sorry if this annoys you in any way. But I remember, that anet once said, that we could “guest” other servers, besides the overflow-grouping.
Id like to know, when you are planning on implementing that feature, because I am on an american server now, which I really like, but all my friends play on a german server. So it would be nice to know, wether I had to change server, or wether I can stay on mine.
thx!
Every scene seems to stand for a few negative aspects, gamers felt, when playing other mmos. I pretty much like it.
When my guild mates and I first stepped foot in AC we definitely had trouble adjusting and there was almost a feeling that the learning curve would be too overwhelming, how ever just a couple days later we’ve found our selves really enjoying the content. We’ve completed numerous explorables and are having a blast doing so. The combat style feels fun and fast paced. I personally love that the “trash” pulls I’m used to from other mmos have been made much more difficult.
Of course there are many bugs and progress blocking issues still to be dealt with and the barter price for exotics certainly needs to be cut in half or at least the tokens bound to account. My overall impressions of dungeons has been a positive one and I believe I speak for the rest of my guild as well.
I am very glad to see someone else as well, having this opinion about dungeons in gw2! My first experience with the dungeons was a little bit sad, because we choose the middle way, and got stuck with Detha Tremblebones, who would’t want to repair the canons, instead she just attacked the ghosts – and I don’t know why, but they were way to strong for us. Later, I found an article on the offical gw2 wiki, wich confirmed my thought – the npc was bugged.
we went path one a few days ago, and it went very well.
But thats the point – it was just unmanageable for us to kill them. The first who got the aggro of the mobs got killed almost instantly. (1 ghost Ranger, 2 ghost Necromancers, 2 Ghost Warriors).
I guess we just won’t be able to do the middle path until we get some kind of official ANet feedback for my question here
Thx for your answer, it really helps to know we weren’t that bad – cause we managed all other bosses with no big dificulties. Okay – we wiped at least one time, but we got together strategized a little bit and then it worked, very well.
Hey guys,
we just did the AC Explorer Mode for the first time and it went pretty well. Many guys complain about the difficulty, and it was difficult but very fun – I really enjoyed it! We had to think, read our skills and strategize. So we found out, that the ghost that pulls us to his and slays us down (cant remember the name, and cant find him on the wiki), if you catch him in the Reaction-Field from the mesmer, he cant pull us. Or if you shatter the illusions for distorsions, he doesn’t pull us as well.
BUT – we finally arrived the step, where you have to protect Detha Tremblebones from the ghosts, so she can repair the canons. We managed to get one canon repaired, but after that, there where just too many, too strong ghosts for us to manage.
So we developed the plan, to pull them aside with our elementalists skills, and slow them with the shoot from the first repared canon. I resurected Detha tremblebones, and we expected her to start reparing the canons again – but instead of, she just attacked the ghosts, though she stood directly in front of the canon!
So I found this article on the official wiki: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Detha_Tremblebones
cite: "She is bugged, and you cannot complete the exploratory mode pass the part that is called “Help Detha set a trap to kill the patriarch.”
Is that true? Or did we do something wrong? If so, what about the other paths? Are they bugged as well? Thx for your help!
Yes, but still the damage gets increased. And don’t forget the Staff Skills, you an inflict a hole bunge of conditions on the oponents.
Im playing Sylvari and Ive seen plenty of us purple plants running around
Still sad to hear though, that you feel alone.. :o
Sounds like they didn’t have a mesmer, with it, you will never have any problems with debuffs.
As one said before, it is a good thing – because it means, you really have an achievement if you handle the dungeon. Still I think you need a basic setup, you can’t run in theire with 5 elementalists or 5 rangers. Maybe thats diferent, if every char is 80, so they can vary better..
There has been made some changes through the last stress tests, so the Mesmer is no that easy to play in pvp, as it was.
From all professions, the mesmer appears to be the hardest class to play in pve, especially on some story quests, where you have to survive many mob-groups alone. To do that, you have to cast many illusions very fast, and just shatter them, in combination with greatsword and 2h staff.
If I am alone, I prefer the sword/pistol – Greatsword or 2h Staff setting. I love it in pvp, because well played, and with about 3 phantasms out (if you manage it good), your oponend has no good cards. The more illusions you have out, the more you heal. And if you use your traits well, you get 3% more damage for each illusion, and the damage dealt to you gets reduced by 3% for each illusion as well.
You can play the mesmer the way you like, either on calling illusions very quick and shatter them, for debuffs or blessings on your alies, or for healing them, or you play it with phantasm focused. That way became harder since the very last stress test because there was a trait that made the skills of your phantasm cast quicker, which is now gone, but its still possible.
Hey guys, maybe you can help me with this
I am playing on Crystal Dessert, but I am in a guild from Abadons Mouth, where my friends play. I really do not want to play on a german server, so I decided to stay on Crystal Desert. There was a guesting function planed, Id like to know, when this function will be implemented, because Abadons Mouth is completely full, so I cant even join them on the server.
Another issue, I can’t send them items via the Message-System, and so don’t they.
