The secret is to disregard the clipping issues and take the sets for what they are.
Like my mesmer. He tucks his shirt into his belt, and laughs it off.
Or my guardian. He doesn’t care that his armor is so bulky that his kneepad is crushing his foot, that extra plating is what they put on tanks to tell elder dragons to kitten off. What a badkitten.
Or my ranger. His massive eyebrows bulge through his headband and his arms are on fire/exploding. Don’t give no cares.
They’ll fix what clipping issues they can eventually. Keep mixing and matching, and eventually you’ll find the heritage sets which are the best period a set that you like.
Cheerful charr is cheerful about the Festival of the Four Winds being back.
EDIT: Added snoot, bonus clipping.

Seems like both?
Right! They’re both, see, cuz their bark is as bad as their bite! Nyuk nyuk nyuk
Pretty sure it’s the event there, where you have to test the rifle.
Huh, does that event give you that skin? I thought they were more clock-work inspired around Plains of Ashford.
The rifle in my shot’s actually this:
I dunno, mine seem to be working fine.
Need more quips and minstrels in the game, clearly
9/10. Charr lovely guardians are the best lovely guardians, especially when they’re sporting Vigil gear.
Messing around with the color scheme and head piece for my mesmer – masks are about the only light armor pieces that don’t mess with the hair. Otherwise you’ve already seen him though, so I’ve included shots of my engineer, guardian, warrior and thief. They don’t like hats either.
Just in case they blow up the Lion’s Arch statue again, I’m going to scale the thing and – whoop.
Round Three
As I was heading towards SMC,
I blinked past three necros, ranger and engi.
Minionmasters they were, plus the ranger had pets,
And the crazy old engi was using turrets.
So…
Turrets, pets, players and minions times three,
How many should be heading towards SMC?
None. Your team’s held that objective for 5 hours with no contest and they’ve been trying to cap the keep in the opposite direction that you’re running. Get back to the front lines, grunt!
I got my ascended armor set.
I think it lasted about 5 seconds before I transmuted everything back.
Armor is Archon Shoulders, Gloves, and Boots, with Heritage Chest and Pants. Still haven’t found a good headpiece for it, though – the better matches all have some sort of clipping issue or float too far from the face.
What armor pieces are these? Particularly the shoulders and gloves?
Thanks!
Those are the arah shoulders and gloves.
Dapper charr is still the best charr.
Come on and safari* with me.
*now with 220% more flame pits and spiky death traps. Must bring your own weapons.
First shot’s him visiting black light land a few months back. Second one is after learning lesson about climbing into a cattlepult.
The lesson being that it’s awesome and that you should always do it when given the option.
Race: Charr
Sex: Male
Class: Mesmer
Armor: Heritage Pants
Issue: Clips when wielding a greatsword
Attached hero panel pic, and in-game pic while wielding the sword. There are two areas of interest here:
1) The pant leg, clips the lower part of the robe (they’re both the same piece)
2) The lower tip of the robe, clips the feet. While testing this, I discovered that this happens while standing idle as well.
In the shot above, the boots also clip with the armor, but it’s also part of another set completely: Archon Boots. For reference, the boots DO NOT have an effect on the first two issues – the clipping occurs whether or not they’re equipped.

Armor: Mask of the Jubilee
Issue: Floats a few inches above the face, covering up the eyes
A while back, I picked up one of the masks from the trading post – looked fine in the preview. After equipping it, I noticed that the mask floats a bit higher than it did from the preview, which causes the mask to cover up my character’s eyes. I’ve posted the picture from the Black Lion Trading Post preview, and the picture from the preview panel following. Just to be clear, the armor doesn’t make a difference – I’ve tried it with and without armor, and the mask still floats.

Ehragus – Shadow armor looks pretty good, and it looks great on your charr. I’m surprised you didn’t wind up using the shoulders and gloves – they don’t look that awful.
ActionCat – you’ve got lots of glowing parts. The wings go well with the weapons – it’s a shame that you can’t dye the radiant glow to match, but it works well with the shield.
Still loving the heritage set – replaced some of the dyes and the gloves/boots, but the helmet’s been a tough one. I figured that masks were the way to go if you didn’t want half your facial options cut out – only problem is, any that have come since release float about an inch above your face, and cover up the eyes. Oh well.

He’d probably create illusions to get beaten up by the bigger cubs for being a coward, and then shot by his commanding officer while using pink magic that bounces the projectile back at his commanding officer, killing the officer instantly and leaving him to take up the role.
Fix’d

Here’s the thread I was looking for.
I had some gems left over, and decided to try out a new mask for my mesmer.
When I previewed the mask, it looked like it fit my charr just fine – a little high, but at the least the eyes are visible when looking straight ahead. After purchasing and equipping, it lifted up enough to cover up the eyes. You can see the preview in the first pic (w/o gear) and the preview after purchasing in the second pic (w/ gear).
I’d prefer it if the mask was a bit closer to the face, but if that’s not a possibility it would be nice if it at least matched the preview.
I don’t think that sort of workaround is a satisfactory solution. If they’re not addressing it, then it’s safe for us to keep bringing it up.

All the more reason to post about it.
Some good sets so far. I might have to borrow that shoulder mix for my engineer, VeeVy.
I decided to swap out the gloves and boots from the heritage set, once I saw that the archon set didn’t clip with the heritage pieces. Thought about swapping the pants since the tail doesn’t clip with that set, but the colors clashed. Not so bad with the gloves and boots.
I can’t find much in the light armor category that I like, outside of the heritage set. Hope they fix the tail some day.
EDIT: Sorry Leon, rating got cut out during the edit. You did a good job scouting the different pieces out. I don’t know about the dye choice, but it works with the backdrop. Maybe some warmer colors on the chest plate, or a darker shade on the legs. Otherwise, you look like a million bucks! Or 10/10, something.
