So today when walking yaks to the Fire keep I noticed a bug. The dolyak coming in from the north takes lava damage when it’s on the path not even touching the lava. Same on the south except this dolyak actually paths straight through the lava instead of along the “safe” path. When it reaches the ground it continues to take damage as if it’s on the lava.
Sometimes the south one doesn’t survive and the north almost dies.
Weapon swap out of combat isn’t a bad idea though. It offers no unfair advantages and in fact allows ele’s to gain the benefit all other classes (except engi’s) have when it comes to stacking sigils. Being able to gain stacks and swap to another weapon and keep the stacks.
Not having this option has been unfair since the day they patched out being able to equip another weapon and keep stacks. On both ele’s and engineers.
If you barely if ever go into wvw then you don’t need to transfer off. The way the algorithm for detection of server population “apparently” works is by looking at wvw activity. So by not going into wvw like you said you’re not taking up any space
.
Reason for my quotes. TC keeps losing a lot of wvw guilds and players yet remains full. Almost as if it’s not detecting the correct population. Same for bloated servers still only coming up as high and no where near changing to very high or full.
Rping in wvw would be fun though and would be a nice way of helping out your server whilst doing something you enjoy in the process
. In pve megaserver makes servers redundant.
Not on the list but. Quaggan! With a racial that turns them I into their rage form. Would be so cute x3. They already have the tonic and their roll on dodge thing plus jumping.
They could add it if they ever cover the water dragon in an expansion.
From the list though I’d pick kodan. Love polar bears. Shame there isn’t a panda race. But that would be too much like another game.
I’m for the condi on weaken. I know everyone likes the damage reduction but other than the Dodge. DD spec offers little else for condi builds. Isn’t the idea of DD not to get hit anyway? It would mean I could take staff over SB to apply condi and would synergise well with the trait we have that applies weakness on poison. (other than acrobatics we don’t really have the synergies with other lines that other elites have)
Good job with the GM traits they’re great
. I still feel we should have a toggle for QoL. I like the idea of making the dodges baseline with toggle and leaving the secondary effects as the traits. It would allow for a varied playstyle.
Eg. Use lotus dodge for whirl but want to use damage increase trait.
Use bound for leap combos but you are a condi build so want to use condi damage increase. Etc
It would allow for more builds and combinations with finishers for all thief builds.

I must be the only person who doesn’t mind the speed of the sneak gyro. Yes it is a bit slow and its ai is kitten y. But I feel the speed is what balances it.
When you knock a thief out of SR he’s revealed and can’t go back in stealth. If your gyro is killed you remain in stealth until it times out unless the explosion reveals you. I feel the slowness of the gyro is there to force us to choose between defence or offense. If you want to stay stealthed or setup for an attack you should stay within range, if you want to be super speeding about and maneuvering in a fight then you shouldn’t have perma stealth. Yes the gyro is visible and gives you away but it doesn’t exactly give your position away, just a rough estimate.
It is a fun mechanic but I don’t think the aim of the gyro was to be a moving SR. I’ve found it quite useful in it’s current setup as it disrupts fights. With the hammer i’m rather close to my enemies and the constant pulsing of stealth kind of bewilders them a bit as they lose target a lot xP.
Do fix the AI though, they’re a bit hive mind like. Especially if the stealth one chooses to attack they all follow
.
The rune allows for more than a perma stealth build. It allows other types of builds. P/D can setup a burst with extra pressure of traps on the floor. D/P can do the same to setup a backstab etc. Would you just prefer everyone plays the same predictable D/P build?
Just because the new bandwagon is to be perma stealth trapper (and all bad ones). Doesn’t mean we have to nerf them into the ground. It also gives rangers that much needed extra survival (even though it doesn’t stealth their pets.)
To the guy saying they weren’t good against my ele. All the trapper thieves I’ve fought are all awful :P. It’s the one flaw of the build where they refuse to apply more pressure. I’ll just cleanse your bleeds etc. Most ele’s run 3 cantrip stunbreaks so hard to pin them down with traps. My theif runs withdraw so that renders the traps null and void.
All you need is that split second they mess up and become revealed and then bam they usually die from a burst.
It really is just a L2P issue seriously. Thieves are already in the ground with nerfs and viable builds.
I think it’s just a lack of knowledge, whenever I come across a full perma stealth trapper thief and im in a group I tell everyone what it is straight away. If you think it’s nothing then you aren’t going to cleanse true, that’s why more people need to be informed.
I was running to a zerg on my staff ele that is in full zerker gear and a trapper thief thought I was an easy target. I just kept running as he tried desperately to stop me with traps and caltrops. Even when he realised he had to apply additional pressure he was obv in dire gear so his attacks hit like nothing. I just kept running on through.
Trapper thieves are only a problem if you stand still twiddling your thumbs. Most won’t come out of stealth to apply extra pressure so you either get a burst off quick or just walk away.
With the hype SAB gets, I feel like that could very well be a pretty viable option for anet to make money.
SABHoT expansion! – Because Mordremoth likes old school video games too.
Although I imagine he isn’t the best jumper.
You can evade through them though no?
I think some people are getting confused here. What I meant was exactly like guardian virtues over the user interface. Not actual effects in game on the character. Yes traits and stuff should take priority but there’s nothing wrong with wanting a few UI effects for fun.
I do like the baseline idea for stealth, my worry is because of how often thieves go in and out of stealth it would be constantly flashing on and off xD. But necros do get the outer screen effect in each DS.
The reason I said DD is because they’re focusing on elites and HoT atm so there would probably be more chance of it being tied to DD than base thief.
I do love the coloured dodge bar idea. It could be like a shadowy aura that extends out from the dodge/ hp bar along the skills through initiative/ utilities that gets fainter the further away it gets, to signify that our power comes from our dodges. This aura could be infused with a faint colour that matches the dodge type. So a dark black like shadow aura with faint green for lotus training, blue for dash etc. As an extra step it could shrink and fade the more we dodge to represent the use of energy as a DD, with the full effect being visible on a full endurance bar or vice versa. If this would be too distracting for others then it could be made to only appear when we enter combat or start a dodge.
To somebody mentioning other classes like ele, i’m all for everyone getting equal treatment. Give ele’s an effect for each attunement or to stick with the elite focus, when a tempest overloads.

The solution to stealth from the looks of it. Give everyone stealth! Are we even a unique class anymore? Everyone else does what we do, better. XD
This just means that fighting engis will become impossible. Not that I rely on stealth but this combined with the extra dazes they’re getting and cc/ reveal trait they already have.. If you’re not stuck dazed you’ll be getting thrown around like a ragdoll.
Perhaps we’ll see more thieves not running SR as a utility.
Soo I know a lot of people might disagree with this. But since a similar post on rev forums actually got action (dodge animation) I figured it’s worth a shot and I would like to hear people’s opinions.
How about a UI effect for thieves? Like how Guardians have the blue flames for their virtue and rev for legends etc. You could make it specific for Daredevil even.
Like maybe a single shadowy effect? Or a different one for each of the different dodge styles.
Off the top of my head I couldn’t think what colours/ effects would suit Lotus training etc.

I don’t agree ele should get weapon swap for reasons already stated. But what bothers me is that other classes (except engi) can have stacking sigils on their second set and swap not having to give up a sigil slot on the main set.
Then again the way d/d is ele’s really wouldn’t need the extra power or it would make it worse.
Meanwhile on the Revenant section….
“we took 90% of your suggestions and did them "
*random post about maybe adding a unique Dodge animation * – " sure why not, in fact I’ll change a few other animations too because I love you guys".
I only wish all the classes got the same love rev is getting.
I wish they would just be honest. If you don’t like thief just say. Amante basically hit the nail on the head. . The feedback thread and some others were full of extremely good ideas. Most if not all were ignored. Another person even came up with some amazing drawings for attack animations. Whilst I’m aware animation takes time, the fact that on the Revenant forum one can simply be added on a whim shows how much pleasure the dev there is taking in his work. Instead of recycling old existing ones from rarely used parts of the game in hopes we don’t notice.
I’m not trying to say Karl doesn’t work hard as I’m sure he does, because I’m aware he’s working on the other elites too. All of which are doing well with their feedback and changes. The point I’m trying to get across is that in comparison the thief class just seems like an afterthought and side project.

I don’t know if this has been mentioned or not before but something I thought about when looking at the new elite specs were the utility skills. It looks like for the new specs they’re trying to get a full bar set of each new category. E.g Dragon hunter getting a healing trap, all utility traps and an elite trap.
It made me think, how come all classes don’t already have a full set of all skill categories? Like a thief having an elite trap or signet, an ele having an elite signet etc.
Which makes me wonder, do you think they’ll ever introduce them? If so I’d love to see some ideas here of what people think they would be.
Anet hire him now! He clearly knows what effort should go into the design of an a character spec. Which is the same effort that other classes have been getting especially Rev. We’ve all known for a long time Thief isn’t the favourite class of any dev but please don’t patch our new mechanics together with recycled parts from other aspects of the game. :/
I fall into the crowd that feels like our class mechanic wasn’t really changed.
This suggestion sounds great. All the people crying it sounds OP to allow us to change dodges… If it’s allowed out of combat or with a high cool down like 60s+, how is that any different from opening the trait window and changing it? It would just be a QoL addition if it was only allowed out of combat.
I do agree giving us other grandmasters and these would be op. But the option to change dodges on the fly OUT OF COMBAT would be rather nice. That way we’re not getting all of them, as we’d be locked into the one we choose in combat.
I love the idea of zipping around the map dashing then when I want to fight, since generally thieves pick their fights anyway, I could switch to a more suitable dodge. If i’m dashing about and I get stealth attacked then it’s my own fault for switching to that dodge and that would leave me at a disadvantage. So we’d still need to be careful choosing.
So you want to be able to choose the dodge out of combat but don’t want new GMs because (sensibly) you know it would be OP.
What if I told you that you could just open the trait window and click the other dodge GM while out of combat?
You already know that it seems, but I mean…it’s maybe one click more? It’s directly attached to GMs, putting it on the UI as a new button would never happen.
That’s why is said it would just be a quality of life adjustment. Saves opening the trait window and taking up the screen. From a design perspective it’s just more usable considering the nature of the elite spec. Thieves are probably going to want to switch these dodges a lot. Why make something harder than it needs to be? Yes you could argue that no other class has this ability to change a trait on the fly out of combat. But no other class has 3 traits so similar that promotes switching between the 3 styles.
As to the later suggestions. I think the cool down idea is still pretty good as it would add to the uncertainty of the DD play style they seem to be going for, but obviously it would need to be tested to see its viability and if it’s OP. Maybe add the ability to switch with cool down on the BWE after this next one, see how that goes, if it’s too much just change it to out of combat only.
I saw somewhere somebody suggested having passive abilities like condi boost when not using a dodge style etc. The whole having passive abilities when not active etc sounds far too much like virtues and I doubt Guardians want us treading on their toes with their class mechanic.

Standing on a cliff with others in WvW over a zerg. Thinking I had my ShortBow equipped to fire off some aoe’s… I had dagger and HS off the cliff right into the zerg… worse thing is.. i’ve done this multiple times -.-
