Or at least increase the cool down a bit…say, once a month. Thieves getting nerfed every patch from excessive whiners is too op.
I’ve been kicked before for a guardian. I was upset at first, but after watching guardians face tank champions, I figured I would have kicked me too!
Thiefs HAVE been eating nerfs since release. And each time they move to new builds, they end up getting nerfed too! This is what OP was sick about.
How about instead of backstabbing your opponent, you give him a reach around, because at the rate the nerfs are coming in for thieves, you’re not going to be able to do much else.

I believe backstab is fine as is, WAS fine with the old Assasin’s Signet, and should not be nerfed.
1v1 Thieves should NEVER get off a backstab combo. You have to outplay them.
3v3+ Thieves maybe can pull one off, but they will die to residual aoe before they can even think about finishing their target. Just rez them and laugh and the now useless thief.
If you can pull off a backstab combo consistently you should be rewarded. The strength OF the thief class is high burst, so why nerf their burst?
Honestly losing faith in this company more and more each game (PvP wise…)
I joined that club many years ago when I found out Assassins had to use Ranger elite Barrage to spread bleeds as a viable PvE build. Then they ended up nerfing that too by limiting the bleeds from sharpen daggers to 5…

How is it spammable? CnD costs 6 ini so you can get 2 in before you run out, there’s a 4 second revealed time in between stealths, and his venoms will be gone during the 2nd one, making it that much harder to get behind you.
1) Revealed lasts 3 seconds, I think thieves with just a dodge can survive 3 seconds
That’s what you consider spammable? Cause you can do 2 in 3 seconds?
2) Backstab requires no initiative use other than CnD
3) You usually have other stealth skills in your bar, like Smoke Bomb, Shadow Refuge or Hide in Shadows. Tecnically, each time you are stealthed is a potential backstab landed
4) Oh wait, you actually need a venom to land backstab? You just have to press 1 untill you hit…
Do you know why they called it backstab instead of frontstab, or sideways face stab? It’s because you actually have to get BEHIND the guy to do full damage. And if you’re using your heals and gettaway moves for backstab, then you’re NOT using your heals and gettaway moves to…well…heal and gettaway, making it THAT much easier to take down the glass cannon thief.
Also, change the class name to “kitten Warrior” because without burst, there’s no role for thieves.

You have no idea on how’s the damage on other professions. Also if ANet cut off thieves’ damage by 50% you still have pretty good damage.

Are you talking about burst damage or sustained damage? Are you surprised that not every other profession has burst damage? Or, if you’re talking about sustained damage, what do you think happens to a thief’s damage when their initiative runs out?
what if we remove the backstabs positional requirement, and change its name to assault stab
but we will make the new backstab a channeling skill of 5 hits,
so that the enemies can evade the skill

so: heart seeker nerf, pistol whip nerf, stealth nerf, short bow nerf, and now backstab nerf ???

Don’t forget the Assassin’s Signet nerf, Basilisk Venom nef, and the silent unlisted revealed time extension nerf where revealed was changed to happen after the attack instead of beginning.
I knew I should have switched to guardian when I was a level 20 thief and was having trouble taking down single grawls and ettins….then turned around and saw a guardian take on 3 vets by himself.

I’m so tired of being punished for rolling a thief.
Remember GW1 Assassin…
First they nerfed Shadow Prison…then burst of aggression…then made horn of the ox do almost no damage…then black lotus strike became a lead attack…then blades of steel did less damage…and so on and so forth until the class was just plain garbage.
At least back then, it didn’t take long to get to lvl 20. Now it takes a very long time to hit 80.
Without burst, please tell me what thieves have to offer that other classes don’t have. Maybe Shadow Refuge? lol…
Sorry…I guess it was my fault for not learning my lesson from gw1. Time to start on that Charr warrior…
I’m so tired of being punished for rolling a thief. It took me quite a while to get to level 80 because I have a day job. I get kicked out of dungeon groups because quite frankly, no one wants to see a thief in their party. I dread every time I see a new update because I just know we’re getting hit with another nerf. HS, PW, Basilisk venom, Assassin’s Signet, Revealed time…now people are crying about dagger storm…sigh~
