I’m having this issue as well, exactly how the OP described it, except I don’t even have to exit the process since the game crashes at that point. Already filed bug reports, but still no response or improvements happening.
Are they account bound still?
Whether they are tradeable (and thus can be sold at the TP now) or not is the real question everyone has in their minds but most do not dare to ask.
Watch as compensation for the fractal level reset to be a town shirt with the words “I GOT TO LEVEL <insert highest level here> IN FRACTALS, AND ALL I GOT WAS THIS T-SHIRT”.
But I still don’t understand why leaping at Dolyak is funny =x
Overkill is always funny.
Also, ROTFLOL at the random flashing text, random Spinzaku at 1:20, and pretty much everything in this video.
Actually, I was waiting for someone do to a SnK OP parody of GW2 every since the first parody videos came out, and this did not disappoint. Kudos.
I found a possible culprit (memory leak?) and I think might be a quick & dirty fix for it until either AMD or Anet fixes the problem on their end.
As you can see in the attached screenshot of the task manager, there is a running process that is taking up memory space and shouldn’t be there in the first place when gw2 is running. I discovered that forcing it closed “fixes” the problem somewhat, and I am able to play gw2 without further issues.

I’m having major problems – WvW is unplayable.
Same here, but also for every big open world content that has big groups of players come together.
Bugged for me too. Already reported it using the in-game bug report tool.
I know Sonder the Seller took his spot in Fort Marriner, but the update notes didn’t say anything that the vendor will be removed. Anyone know where he went?
This is also happening in Sorrows Furnace.
Some of the other world bosses seemed to be buggy as well.
In before thread deletion (you know it’s gonna happen).
What is the reasoning behind this?
But seriously, I am really interested to know the real reasons for this decisions. It’s especially jarring to have a sudden hotfix just to resolve something that isn’t even that close to gamebreaking.

It’s like they really don’t want engineers to become viable in this game.
Thanks ArenaNet.
Lol and I’m starting to think the other way: Giving Dulfy an NPC was likely a mistake.
Now it’s going to be all popularity contests and tears to see who can be next.
Note that Dulfy’s NPC was an enemy you can kill, so it’s a perfect target to vent your frustration and disagreement.
Watch as Anet will make WP an NPC enemy Inquest in the new fractal. The irony would be fitting and delicious.
And no, my character isn’t siding with Kiel. Kiel is siding with my character.
Trahearne is siding with your character too, why does Kiel get a free pass while Saladbolg gets all the hate?
Instead of Red versus Blue, the teams should be renamed to Team Ellen and Team Evon. Every match win should then be counted as votes to the candidate the team is representing, with the number of teammates equal to the number of added votes.
As a reward, in addition to the winnings loot chest, give players a unique limited-use PvP finisher displaying a banner of their candidate.
Think of all the intense fighting. Think of the intrigue. Think of the backstabbing.
Such a missed opportunity.

Looks good.
One change I’d really recommend, though, would be swapping out Rifled Barrels for something else. I don’t find I really need the extra range that often in PvE, especially since the Elixir Gun (Acid Bomb) and Rifle (Blunderbuss, Overcharged Shot) shine so significantly at close range.
Perhaps drop 10 points out of Firearms and sink it into Alchemy? This will give you room for Invigorating Speed in your build, which will provide more access to Vigor and giving you a much needed boost in survivability—often the only real thing we need in PvE. If the FT didn’t require Deadly Mixture, I definitely wouldn’t have 20 Alchemy in my build. And with 10 in Firearms, you still have access to Fireforged Trigger.
I would also consider swapping out Kit Refinement for Scope to help your Grenade Kit’s damage output, but that’s a play style choice.
As for rune set, what’s “best” is really up to what you want to do. Full Altruism is good if you’re seeking a boon support setup, but stacking Might/Boon Duration will be a better boost to your own DPS. I’m an Altruism fan, though I recognize it doesn’t suit all play style choices.
Thanks for the advice, it’s really helpful. I’m currently experimenting with 30/20/0/20/0, running with Infused Precision trait in Firearms (between that and Elixir S, no need for Speedy Kits for the 100% Quickness uptime) and Invigorating Speed and Deadly Mixture in Alchemy. It’s a serious boost in efficiency, though I basically have to go back to my old playstyle pre-patch (not that it’s a bad thing, mind).
Also finalized my runes loadout with 4 Sup. Altruism + 2 Sup. Monk. I’ve gotten comfortable with it, and partymates smile at the +3 Might stack bonus at critical moments.
I’d go with removing the Endurance penalty with Elixir U — in fact, why not just remove the penalties entirely, since it’s too underpowered as it is, removing the penalties won’t really impact it as much.
I’d propose another option: Make the oft-neglected Elixir C a stunbreaker too, especially it’s toolbelt skill. That would open up another option for Engineers to play with.
30/10/0/30/0 is the staple (30 Explosives for the Grenadier trait, otherwise you’re doing it wrong).
Everything else is gravy, really. I personally go with Incendiary Powder for the +burn on crit, and Enhance Performance for the +3 Might stacks every time I use a heal skill (Medikit kit-swapping triggers this). As I mentioned in my build post , I combo Enhance Performance with my 4 Superior Runes of Altruism for instant 6 Might stacks at will (actually once every 10 seconds, which is more than enough for me).
I also used to run with Empowering Adrenaline and Short Fuse for the DPS, which is also good not just for HGH builds.
For the Alchemy line (HGH is also a given), I cannot understate just how good Invigorating Speed is. Not only does it give +50% Endurance gain, the Vigor boon is counted for the Energy Matrix trait for additional DPS. Combo this with Infused Precision (10 pt. Firearms line, gives Quickness on crit), and you can virtually dance around your enemies and they can’t do anything about it.
I ran with Cleaning Formula 409 for the condition removal (you and your party will love you for it), but like the Explosives line, it’s really your call, as both Potent Elixirs and Fast-Acting Elixirs are solid choices.

- Tanky support
- DPS glass cannon
You can only pick one, unfortunately.
- Remove active duration on suit (60 seconds) by allowing the suit to be in use until going into a downed state or exiting. This system would be more consistent with the Hazmat Suit. The cooldown begins once the suit is destroyed.
Totally agree with this point. Everything else seems to be too much work for Anet’s overworked programmers already. /sarcasm
What do you think about my All-kit build I posted in the builds thread ? I’ve been testing this for more than a week now, and so far my only real issue is getting downed far too often if I mess up my dodge due to the squishiness. The other isn’t isn’t major, mainly having to decide whether an all-boon bonus rune set (2xS.Monk, 2xS.Water, 2xM.Sanc), an all-Altruism set, or a mix of the two (2xS.Monk and 4x Altruism for the +6 Might stacks + 30% boon duration bonus) is best.
Bumping this thread. Having same issues as well. Went to Shatterer, couldn’t do anything as the lag froze my character in place, so all I could do for the whole event was watch Shatterer die in front of me.
Similar incident at the new JP.
The last straw was at WvW. Can’t exactly defend anything if you can’t move. I’d accuse our enemy servers for sabotaging my network, but everything else works fine, it’s just the GW2 client that’s having the issues.
Oh, it’s my old build. Nice.

I’ve posted about this before , and Anet’s technical support was gracious enough to give me the friendly generic advice of “using MSCONFIG to turn off unnecessary applications”.
Well, no, it’s not working. Why? Because since then, I now have a brand-new laptop with better specs, a fresh installation of Windows 7 Ultimate, with barely anything installed in it but what came in the OS and Guild Wars 2, AND I’M STILL EXPERIENCING ISSUES.
Try to do the Aetherblade dungeon when the client freezes up randomly. Especially during the laser walls and cannon fire dodge fests that should be easy to do with a more responsive system. It’s impossible.
No, the ISP’s not the problem, since this lag and login error messages popping up randomly only happen in GW2, not in anything else I’ve run through our network, even with the old computers.
I am really frustrated at this.

Honestly, I didn’t even know this was an actual bug that can, and should be, fixed.
Engineers have the worst downed skills, PERIOD.
I pretty much play with the mindset that I have to avoid downing at all costs, because once I go down and nobody rezzing, I’m already dead.
Mortar must stay for wvw! the basic’s of mortar is great! Problem is the range. Why set mortar when u can throw nades half longer?
Now there’s an idea…
Will the WvW skills work for the Mortar (as a “siege weapon”)? If it does, I can see how the elite skill can be potentially powerful.
yea but a more powered up version, something that with the right build is more optimal to take over supply kit
Can’t beat a stun, bleed, HoT and immobilize all-in-one for Elite imo…
Make that an AoE effect (apply to all enemies on sight range), and Modified Ammunition becomes dangerously close to broken.
The build calculator at intothemists.com has the updated stats, so you mind want to try checking your build there to see if there’s any changes.
For instance, here’s a build I’ve been playing around with ever since the patch .
I’ve been running with HGH and might stacking variants for the longest time. The elixirs gave me quite a bit of leeway as a buffer whenever things go south.
Now with the new changes to the traits, it gave me an opportunity to try something out of my comfort zone: a no-alchemy all-kit hybrid build.
Note1: Both build calculator site does not use the new traits, but since the only changes I’m using is in the Firearms trait line, it should suffice. Just change Adept to Fireforged Trigger and Master to Juggernaut traits, and everything else should work as intended.
Note2: I’m using Altruism runes because since I can get up to 18-25 Might stacks quickly, might as well share the buffs with the party. I suppose the full Boon Duration set (2 Superior Monk, 2 Superior Water, 2 Major Sanctuary) is better in the long run, but I like sharing.
Note3: For Armor & Trinkets, going full Berserker for DPS or full Rampager for conditions would be better, but I like not dying when I mess up my dodges more.
It feels like I’m playing a whole new class, yet it’s the same engineer I’ve been tinkering with for months. I’m still testing this build (I’m actually using Celestial trinkets at the moment until I finalize the build), so I can’t give any real ideas on the playstyle, but you’re welcome to try it out for yourself and add any ideas to improve/optimize/streamline it.
Edit to add: Just found out that Into The Mist’s Build Calc has the updated traits, so here’s the prototype build .
(edited by Skribulous.3521)
There’s at least one other ability which got “stealth buffed” into a Stun Breaker, Elementalists’ Arcane Shield.
I imagine both that and this were intentional, since their whole thinking behind it was that every “build” (in this case I guess they’re thinking builds = sets of utilities, EG kits, elixirs, ect) needs a stun breaker. AS is the designated Arcane stunbreaker, and Healing Mist is the kit stunbreaker.
Still no excuse why they took stunbreaker off Elixir R.
lazy people are lazy.
unskilled people are unskilled.
Asura are Asura, and we are your masters.
Just get used to it.
QFT.
I think this is Anet’s roundabout way of nerfing the HGH/elixir build by making the elixir skills subpar, while subtly adding new features to kits and gadgets across the board (like Healing Mist stunbreaker as an example).
To counter the god-mode of the Turrets is that they only stay online for like 1 minute. This way you can’t spam them. And they are actually used for something.
One minute is 30 seconds too long for indestructible predator drones. Even the Asura racial elite golems (which are basically what walking turrets are) don’t last longer (40 seconds) than that. Either drop the duration down to 30 seconds, or buff all the other summons’ durations across the board (maybe doubling the golems’ duration to a minute and a quarter, and others like the Silvari wolf to a minute and a half).
Well, it’s starting, but I couldn’t finished it. Like I posted in the Game Bugs section, the game disconnected while I’m doing the instance, and only at that instance, since running around the rest of the game world seems to be fine.
I’ve already filed the report, but I’d like to mention this here in case other players are experiencing it.
Basically what the title said. I’m having problems completing the instance since the client keeps disconnecting, usually at the part the ambulance dolyaks move to the port and are ambushed by the Aetherblades. I’ve also noted that my skills stopped responding just before disconnection.
Let me explain how this works.
The firework event cycle (them happening every two hours) was started at 9:00 AM PDT. The event itself is tied to the ingame time and will happen at dawn (ingame). So your fireworks might not have happened yet, as it is not dawn ingame.
Apologies for us not communicating this more clearly. But the fireworks will happen every two hours over the course of the weekend, so plenty of time to marvel at them and get the achievement.
I just watched the fireworks, dragon got shot, and no ach. Can you explain this as well please?
Seconding this.
Same issue here in Sorrows Furnace(non overflow), been at the fountain for almost an hour, watched the fireworks, no helm or achivement.
Same here.
Is this bugged?
When I think of bad traits I think of always prepared. Realistically, dropping junk on the floor is pointless. I know they tried to patch it with duct tape and give it a 25% boost but that doesnt really help much on throw junk which is on the condition damage side. Its like trying to give bonus power damage to pistols. It does work better on booby trap of you can ever get it to go off. I think best fix is to just cut the part where you throw junk on the ground and just make it a 50% dmg increase instead. The way it is right now it cant decide what it is so it ends up doing nothing at all.
What’s even more confusing is why do players still run with this trait. I still see discarded flamethrowers and elixir guns scattered everywhere after every world boss event. What is the point? No one’s going to pick them up anyways…
I use all 5 ascended accessories (the celestial tokens, the celestial rings, and the Triforge amulet). They’re not spectacular, but good enough for my engi’s needs, since I usually swap builds when the situation (and my whims) necessitate it.
However, if we’re going to min-max, I’d recommend the Berserker+Valkyrie (not sure, it’s the ones with mostly Berserker stats +Vit stacked to them) accessories.
Also, you’re not allowed in because you called them ‘collages’ instead of ‘colleges’.
This.
/thread.
Hey all, just wanted to let you know I’m still working and I’ll keep you updated as soon as I have something to post.
While were on this topic, could you also look into the Mystic Forge rare-to-exotic chances? Ever since the start of the Last Stand of Southsun events I haven’t had success with acquiring exotics this way. This doesn’t bode well since this is one of the few viable ways of getting a precursor.
It’s been happening more often these days. I haven’t experienced all the client freezing and disconnection errors until recently, about a month or so ago.
Are the devs even looking at this forum? There seems to be no response from them for over a week now.
I am at least hoping for a response from Tech Support to assure us that they’re looking into this.
It is very frustrating to have the game freeze on you when you’re killing a world boss, and miss the chest. What’s worse, since I’ve technically done the boss despite not receiving any credit, the chest no longer spawns when we fight the same boss again at a later time.
It stops being funny when it’s happening to us too. Been experiencing this for weeks now, but it never occurred to me this could be a bigger, not-quite temporary issue. Sporadic lagging/freezing in PvE is bad enough, I couldn’t do any dungeons or fractals because of this.
Incidentally, this doesn’t seem to be the case with the SAB dungeon.

I think the damage it does is pretty reasonable. Wait no, the opposite.
I swear, I get more damage out of a grenade/bomb engi with cleric gear.
EDIT: Oh, and I get reliable burning with bomb kit.
I get more reliable burning with my RIFLE (property traited, of course, but still…).
FT is that sad.
I like how you cut off kit refinement, Flamethrower and Elixir gun in your new build.
I like even better is that the build DDog described is exactly the build that I had way back in October when my main first hit 80.
That said, I do NOT want Explosive Shot to be where it was in the betas. The best Engineer builds did nothing but auto attack and use Elixirs because of how much damage Explosive Shot did.
This was very boring for the Engineer and more difficult than it should be to counter by players fighting the Engineer.
With all the complaints about Engineers being “weak” and “underpowered”, maybe Anet should bring this back again.
Or, even better yet, have the auto-attack with both Explosive and Ricochet Shot-like properties, like the thief’s shortbow.
