it isnt because you’re lvl 21, its because all roaming guilds run the same thief/warrior/mesmer builds. So if anything you running one of those builds but yet calling a mesmer who decides to Moa you cheese…yeah, pot-kettle. Its up to you how you play though, keep on back stabbing.

If suddenly necromancers HAD to wear dark somber stuff covered in skulls and dripping blood, that would wreck them for me.

Fine by me, Idm that IoJ will finish 9th, either us or NSP had to. Whole league was a stupid idea anyways, in theory it provided more variations in the match ups but Anet didnt take into account server WvW population. Cant wait till next week when we get to face servers like NSP ( without a third higher population server), Kain, HoD, SF and….“them” <death glare>.

Agreed, theres no reason what so ever for us not to be able to, its not like we’re immune to all forms of damage or anything while doing it. We can still be taken out of deathshroud and we can still be CC’d.

The argument that its harder for thieves to cap is hilarious. They can stealth cap and they can use the steal cap? the ability that blinks them away and blinks them back.

Id like a way to reliably try to cap someone without being a sitting duck, waiting for plague to secure that cap is annoying to say the least.

Saying that i have to admit, when part of a zerg you appear very skilled.

Well seeming we’re all talking about the obsidium sanctum arena….was fun for the most part. Trying to stand on the raised wooden platforms, getting punted off( yay for getting punted off the sides and deathshroud!) without fail. Then fearing tons and tons of people off the edge to their deaths, all that beautiful loots, experience and Wexp =) The runaround from the full 20-40 FA coming after me, that was hilarious. Then of course the spawn camping started, was funny standing at the edge of the invulnerable spot with a few [RUN] guys, laughing at how there was 3 of us in total and 20+ of them waiting for us to come down so they could fight ( until it was even numbers and we whooped you FA guys till you had to call a zerg back =p)

As an Englishman, can you all please stop using the “keep calm and carry on” variations…please? =(

If you mean about an hour ago that was me, guild wars is a crappy piece of coding and messes with my computer ( no other game or program does that so thats all Anet), screen froze and i had to hard restart. Did i get the yak? i just want that for achievements. did the other 3-4 people cry to? i really want to know if they felt the same way.

Cant wait till league is over, be nice to be fighting servers without the gold league mentality of running to more numbers.

Anyone else use celestial Gear? Ive been using it for a roaming a long time now and id say its work out pretty great, apart from fighting the usual flavour of the month classes and of course 1v3+ situations which as necros we have trouble as anyways. what build and runes/sigils do you use with it?

I use to run a 30/25/0/0/15 build but i found it was too squishy, the damage was really nice but when focused it was extremely hard to survive. Ive recently switched to a 0/25/25/20/0 build. I found that this added a lot more survivability to my build while also keeping the damage moderately high. When buffed with WvW rank buffs and sigil stacks i can hover around 3k attack and 1k condition damage, i feel the combined pressure of my direct attacks on top of my passive condition damage can really put the hurt on people.

For food buffs i use the 66% chance to steal life on crit and power based from a percentage of your toughness/vitality.
For runes i use travelers, it further adds celestial stats, boon duration, condition duration and frees up a utility slot from locust signet.
For sigils i use stacking condition damage on my staff and then 30% chance to steal life and steal life on weapon swap for my dagger/focus.

For my utilities i always have consume coniditons, corrupt boon, signet of spite and then switch between well of suffering, well of darkness or spectral wall. Plague and lich form are really hard to choose between, do i want to down someone quickly or do i want to secure a cap/ blind their burst.

Side note: anyone else go full celestial ascended like me yet?

The problem i have with shadow refuge is that by the time theyve use it, i’ve already exhausted my mark fear and im unable to deny them from standing in there. Even spamming all my other marks isnt enough damage to down them.

From what i gather stated in this thread this is a completely learn to play issue and as a necro i should be downing every single person i come across without any problem what so ever. Personally i think thats entirely wrong myself. A well played thief should always be able to beat a necromancer, not saying i dont down my fair amount of thieves but when theyre played properly theres hardly anything one can do.

Their combined dodges,vigor, endurance regen,stuns, condition removal, stealth, movement and blinds out weighs my fears, basic two dodges,regen, my pitiful life steal and my death shroud. As a thief, could you imagine if you could only go stealth every 10 seconds and have to take 30 trait points for it to effectively work or be stuck at using no stealth for an extended amount of time?

Thats what its like, thief goes stealth, 7-10k backstab and then rinse and repeat throwing in blinds, heartseekers to stay on target and passive condition removals/heals.

Deathshroud nerfs and pitiful life siphoning all made it so much harder to fight thieves, maybe im playing the wrong class. No wonder you only see necros at the back of zergs and rarely at that.

Psh, i did that back when they were 1g a pop with my own gold. Haters gonna hate (zombieland sure did).

On a side note, I hate how the more hp you have the more downed state hp you have, that what it seems like to me, means more time to be given to cap someone. Thieves always seem to be rezzed in no time at all but when i try to rez Lili it takes ages.

Stealth is one of the strongest offenses and defenses a character can have. It can allow you to avoid damage, except for lucky AoEs and melee attacks, and it can also allow you to move unseen by the enemy, giving you the chance to make a clean get away or launch your strongest attack, without the enemy having the chance to avoid it.

That being said, i understand that for some classes, thief in particular, that stealth is their main defensive ability, thats all well and good but when the class has unlimited access to it ( black powder + heart seeker comes to mind) it can get pretty ridiculous. Add in heal while stealthed and condition removal on top of being able to move freely, avoid attacks and being able to land their strongest attack, back stabs for 7k on reasonable armor anyone?

Lets put aside my thoughts on how this game was obviously balanced by some kind of house hold furniture, you may have a different opinion, or you may agree with me. I have two suggestions to change stealth mechanics to make it more balanced with other defenses.

1.Damage knocks the player out of stealth, theres a 1 second grace period when entering stealth, any damage received within the one second will not place you out of stealth.
~or~
2.The revealed buff is upped to 4 seconds long and is received every time you exit stealth.

i guess i should state my class: necromancer. Id gladly trade DS for stealth every 10 seconds…You can be over 70% life force and your normal HP will still recieve damage nowadays..“yay”

Thats just being a necro outside of a zerg, 1vX is bleh. Due to our low mobility, people can just stick to us like glue and death shroud drains so fast and doesnt regen unless you really trait for it.

Nice video, saw a few times you were going for the cap and were being thrown around the place, dont forget you can cast plague form mid cap for stability cap, Well of Darkness could also be a big help ( though you probably know this).

When theres a mass of people ganking you, one seems to overlook the small guilds (seeming as SPCA/XOXO seem to run together or 5v1-2 most of the time). Not worth our time fighting you guys anyways, your builds and classes are more suited to small team combat, theres a reason why theres so few roaming necros ( props to jk and the xoxo necro)
