EotM is the best place to farm badges of honor, you get badges from enemy players and a chance to get 3-25 badges from every capture depending on the type. In regular wvw you can only get them from player kills.

Sooooo boring… The Honeybuns haven’t wanted to step foot in WvW at all this week, wheres the fun in this matchup. We went in there once and it took a long time to find any enemies.

Do you feel that the high rewards in EotM cheapen the rewards in regular WvW?

I and the Missus only play regular WvW, mostly roaming at that, and from what we’ve seen on the forum, you can generate a large amount of karma, badges and rewards by playing EotM. On the few occasions we’ve been in EotM, we’ve seen nothing but karma training. Once again, do you feel that the high rewards in EotM should be lessened to be equal in terms of time/effort as regular WvW?

I like how everytime the idea for ascended gear for badges comes up, people always say “i have too many badges, that isn’t enough.” You can spend hours in regular WvW and get just over a few hundred in a week, thats why the numbers are what people are stating. EotM gives too many badges and this is where these people are playing, a karma train version of WvW with hardly has any real player vs player combat.

Better methods to gain ascended weapons/armor through wvw, and even spvp, play need to be implemented.

What I’m saying is PvE players will flock EoTM with level 1 characters. Hit level 80 with with enough badges to get ascended gear if they really grinded it out. It’s already bad enough as it is atm with all EoTM pugmanders doing Ktrains, avoiding all zergs and just want to flip stuff instead of focusing PPT. Not saying all commanders do this but most pugmanders do.

Easy solution to it, nerf the drop rates… Anet loves to do that >;}

You can get that many badges from doing whats basically suppose to be the overflow map? I dont get that amount doing the game mode on the regular maps…

It is worth fixing this misconception also. First, please list any bought guilds on any of the servers in this tournament. Also, the having guilds on other servers thing is something JQ tried to do in Season 1 as well. Unfortunately TC had some guild leaders that were far more receptive and dedicated to it.

Would you deny that, in the past, there has never ever been a server that has purchased guilds to come to their server for gold? I can recall a few guilds that were bought from lower leagues to higher leagues but the forum isn’t the place to say.

I’m not accusing either JQ or TC of buying guilds, im stating that whether it goes on or not, buying guilds or agreeing to communicate cross server, that until people have strong server loyalty this kind of thing will happen. The only way to ever make WvW a more even playing field then transfers and cross server alliances would have to stop, so that the tiers would even out and not fluctuate( remember sor’s implosion?) , that will not happen.

Whether you like this type of game play or not, it’ll either continue or die on it’s own, there’s nothing that you can get Anet to do about it. The matches are decided by us the players, they always have been.

Those 5 are a good base to start with, from there i’d fill in what siege you usually use. You don’t have to fill each line completely for them to be effective, there are times where putting a few points in each line is more beneficial, being able to use each kind of siege more effectively than mastering just one.

How does it matter? Servers have always bought guilds to transfer to their server in order to win, how is buying guilds on other servers to attack the third server any different?

In this case its for tourney position, not just gold. It sucks but there’s nothing you can do about it.

From the limited testing I’ve done after the patch, the 0/5/5/4/0 (0/25/25/20/0) build i’ve been using for a while still seems to me like the best option. It allows for rapid bleed/condition stacking with a follow up of strong melee attacks.

Using a staff then either Dagger/Dagger ( for more defensive play) or Dagger/Focus ( for more offensive play) allows for a good combination.

Even with 0 trait points in spite, your attacks still hit hard. Due to the 5 trait points in curses you get 2% extra damage with each condition on the target, making up for the lose of power from the spite tree while increasing the condition damage with the curse tree. In Addition to the 2% extra damage per condition, 10% of your toughness is converted to power through the 5 trait points in the Death Magic tree, while at the same time keeping your armor at a high level.

Personally i think it would be better..way too many open spaces. If the whole map was a ruined city, that would be way more interesting and entertaining.

30/20/0/0/20 Dumbfire spec, seems like rabid gear.

I have an Acer Aspire 9410-2829 laptop that i recently recovered to base systems so all the data was wiped. When i go to install gw2 it reaches 10700kb then stops. At this point it asks permission for the Guild Wars 2 game client to continue, upon clicking continue, the client disappears, reappears then disappears again. This happens even when ran as administrator and firewall permissions.

The system specs are:

intel premium dual-core processor t2080 (1.73GHz, 533 MHz FSB, 1 MB L2 cache)
intel graphics media accelerator 950
2 GB ram
windows vista 32 bit

The laptop is a few years old but im sure itll be able to run gw on low graphics, need it for a vacation or i wouldnt bother.

I created a ticket and they told me to run the gameadvisor, this too doesnt even open. Other programs ive been able to download and install to the laptop but the game client and the “fix finder” dont work, any help?

When i trait and buff for healing power, i get between 1k-1.2k healing power in celestial gear. Transfusion will heal for over 5.5k for the full duration and invigoration heals for about 1k.

Overreaction. Before any of us stepped into WvW environment there was no reason for server pride, you can guest on any server you want. If you’re really that worked up about it, petition them to introduce team chat in PvE. It would work the same as Spvp, theres a map chat for everyone and a team chat for your team, except in this case it would be for just your server.

The fact that stealth can almost be freely entered into by some classes on a near constant basis, not to mention the ability to be revealed through damage isn’t available, is one of the most ridiculous ive seen out of many MMOs. The implementation of being revealed through damage or a stealth bar is desperately needed, in my opinion. Many may disagree with me on this but the survivability and strategic advantages of stealth are too powerful in gw2.

Especially after hearing that theyre buffing thief survivability while not nerfing their stealth capabilities.

I think they’re skipping in all honesty.

For a dissenting view, I’d like to say that with all servers, more so with smaller ones, there will always be those that seek to control them. Views on these servers that fall outside of the mainstream, or those that wish to go their own path, are frowned upon and you’ll usually be finding yourself being ostracized. These are the exact things you’ll find yourself encountering on GoM. Feel free to go there, just realize you’ll need to fall into the goose step and be ready to put up with sub-par tactics.

Edit: Maybe this isn’t every transfer story but this is the story of most transfers that I’ve seen leave Gate of Madness from their own mouths. I suppose it’s not the story that they tell to the server they arrived on or maybe not the story that servers with many guilds take notice of. But here we have few guilds and I try to remember each of their stories.

Most of the people that have previously left GoM and then returned, did so because they didnt like the competition of more skilled players, feeling that their contributions weren’t as weighty. They returned because the overall lack of skill on GoM was so low, theirs seemed exponentially higher.

Nothing changes but the clothes, same thing week in, week out.
