I am in the same boat my friend I am the lone wolf in my guild, 99% of the time I am the only one on. And if some one does come on there on for 30~45 minutes and then they log.

@Cubzz it sure is Guild Wars 2 because the clocks are stable in any other game. The FX processor has turbo mode where it clocks the processor up and down. What ever programming Guild Wars 2 has is freaking out the CPU.

Also before I did anything to the PC the CPU was going over 65*C after I got the CPU cooler and new case the temp was 35*C. Now that I manually set the voltage the temp is staying around 25*c. That’s a 40*C difference and just for reference the CPU ran @ 49*c in eq2 with the old tower and CPU fan. Guild Wars 2 is causing high heat in the FX processor!

I ran some more tests last night and running the game stock @3.1GHZ I am getting 45~89ps and it hit 109fps a few times but its mostly in the 80fps range. And the CPU is running 25*C, so I see no need to overclock!

The other day I was reading about FX chips running hot in this game. So I downloaded a temp monitor and sure thing my CPU was cooking like a egg. I had a case with bad airflow and guild wars was causing the CPU frequency and voltage to clock up and down like a yoyo!

So I took the PC in to the MOM and POP PC store and they swaped my parts into a HAF 932 case and installed a cool master CPU cooler. Now the CPU was nice and cool but guess what! The CPU frequency and voltage was still going up and down like a yoyo!

And I was only getting 15 lowest fps 30~45 average fps. So after pulling my hair out and searching the internet high and low. I set windows power management to “High Performance” then I went in the BIOS and manually set the CPU clock and voltage and I disabled all automatic volting , turbo mode and all power save features.

The results were nothing but outstanding! Running stock clock I was getting 30fps lowest fps and 45~60fps+ avg. Then I decided to overclock to the turbo mode clock speed and I almost fell out of my chair. again 30fps lowest fps and 55~109fps avg! Right now the computer is hitting over 100fps left and right.

What ever programming arena net did to guild wars 2 it caused the cpu and voltage to clock up and down like a yoyo. Manually setting the CPU makes the voltage and clock speed stable. I hope this info can help some one like it helped me!

P.S. My system specs are

AMD FX 8120 3.1GHZ x8
560ti 1gb stock clocks
16gb of ram
500gb hard drive os
1tb hard drive games
550 watt power supply.

Well your MB would probably fit a FX processor but your going to need to overclock the crap out of it to get it to run good. Your better off buying a new MB and I 5 processor.

No offence Jay but a basic $600 pc would blow the doors off that laptop. Laptops are not very good gaming machines and often over heat like crazy.

ElDuderino I would scrap AMD all together and get a new MB and I 5 processor. I bet your frame rates would tripple.

Sorry it took a few days to get back. I am getting the same fps, huge crowds I get around 30fps. 40+fps in the city and out in the open I am getting 60+FPS even running @1920x1080.

I honestly think I could get more FPS with a better graphics card, the 560TI is a great card but the GTX 660, 670, and 680 run circles around it not to mention those cards have a minium of 2gb video ram.

P.S. I run vsync because I hate screen tearing, idk how much higher it would go over 60fps with vsync off.

Well I fixed my AMD FX CPU problem, I have a FX 8120 running @ 4GHZ and I have a 560 ti running @870, 2100 and 16GB of ram, 500GB and 1TB hard drives and 550watt XFX True Watt Power Supply.

Running those settings I’m getting 30fps+ in a large event group and 45+FPS in the city and 60+ FPS out in the world. Right now I am running it on my 1600×900 Monitor but I am going to hook it back up to my 55’ LED HDTV when I get home. I will update this post with the 1920X1080 Rez FPS.

P.S. I don’t do PVP!

Yes that’s true but say some thing is selling for 2 silver and some one wants to take advantage of the auction house. They make a offer of 20 copper and now all future offers are going to show 20 copper and its worth 32 copper to a vendor and now people who don’t know any better are going to sell the item for 33 copper. Now the guy who manipulated the price gets the items for 33 copper instead of 2 silver.

People are listing offers under merchant value on the trader and by human nature people are selling for 1 copper over what the item is worth to a vendor. The trading post needs to list the highest offer first by to the lowest and by mo means should you be able to list something under what a vendor gives!
