My fellow Engineers!
I had a dream…. but I forget what it was so nevermind.
I have a question, and I suspect the answer is no but I need a second opinion. Are our kits effected by our stats at all, like the toolkit being effect by power? Again I suspect they don’t yet, but it never hurts to find out.
My theory is that the seeds that sprouted the pale tree and Sylvari may have been the creation of another elder dragon. One that send it’s people out without need to destroy other races. It would fit with their immunity to the other dragons’ control and their purpose to fight the elder dragons could be rivalry between the dragons. Nothing really to support it though. Just an idea.
POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT!
Your theory is closer to the truth than you think… From what I can gather the Sylvari of the Pale Tree are ‘corrupted’ by Ventari’s Tablet. The Elder Dragon you speak of may very well be the one you face in the Dream, as there is a 6th, yet to be named, dragon. It’s minions are known as the Sylvari, much like The Destroyers, The Risen, and The branded. Those no longer corrupted by Ventari’s teachings are known as the Nightmare court. My guess is that this dragon only exists in the Dream much like the White Stag (in the White Stag storyline) exists in both the dream and the physical world… or should I say the Nightmare as I would think the Dream is a product of Ventari’s teachings. The Dragon’s body may very well be the Pale Tree itself… who knows. There’s also more than a little resemblance between the dragon you face in the Dream and the Sylvari, like the odd glow they all have.
Ah…. this again…
Right, time to destroy this yet again by mentioning Malyck the Sylvari from another tree, who strangely acts like the Sylvari from the grove (apart from the apparent lack of a dream) If what you think was true surely Malyck would act more like the nightmare court do.
I get blinded by her big bald head.
You’ve just proved my point, if you make it harder (by needing more mats and such) then people will simply turn to the trading post even more then they already do, thus driving up prices, thus making the crafting more expensive, which could well see more bots return to annoy everyone.
There are more important things for ANet to fix, like the bugs in the game rather then deal with something that is working and is fine and accepted….. and for the love of god will they stop nurfing Engineers.
The only weapon I can really see suiting the Engineer is a one handed hammer, or at an extremely long stretch a dagger if the skin got changed to a screwdriver when it gets equipped.
I’d rather the crafting stay as it is, I don’t want to spend mountains of gold on crafting of all things.
James, I suggest you use the search feature… this has been mentioned before, and in a much more detailed way.
Heavy armor wouldn’t be a good idea because then all the rangers would whine about it constantly, instead I think adding a trait to boost our armor by a certain percentage to make our armor nearer to heavy armor stats, but not as high, somewhere in the middle of medium and heavy armor would be best I think.
Just to point out at the end of The Eye of The North expansion pack from GW1, we saw the pale growing for a few seconds (for the many people who haven’t played any of GW1)
This will not work because of several reasons.
1) Some people do speed runs and some do like money runs.
2) I don’t want a 35 in my party.
3) Sometimes I prefer to choose a specific class to invite to my party. However, the dungeon queue would work if we got an option to be with a party of all 80’s and choose what classes we want in our specific party. Call me a elite kitten but exotics are better than rares.
If you don’t want 35’s, go to Arah :P
All joking aside 35’s are allowed to do AC explorer, but I think the down scaling needs to be a harsher so everyone is on a level playing field.
Simple answer, because ANet stated way before launch they didn’t want people watching bars on the screen, or see “dodge” appear and so on. This is also the reason you do not get numbers on team member’s health bars.
In a way yes, in a way no.
I’d rather not see one because I can just picture the verbal assaults and over all flaming of the people who are going through dungeons the first time, and people leaving because there is a lower level player in the group (I’m already starting to see this behavior appearing slowly in to the game)
I have to say this is one of the better threads and not the normal whining or rage posts we see now a days, well done. ^^
I’d love to see a trait where our armor is increased when using a melee weapon or the toolbox kit (Hopefully we Engineers get a proper melee weapon in the future) something like 20% armor rating increase when this or that is equipped.
Another thing I’d love to see (Other then turrets that follow you around, excluding the healing turret) is having weapons directly connected to our kits. For an example a rifle gets connected to the flamethrower and when that rifle gets equipped the flamethrower kit appears, keeping the stats and sigil of the rifle in the process (and maybe the skin)
I couldn’t think of a better title but here is quick question for you all.
Do you think ANet would have used their time better by adapting GW1 instead of creating a game that many people appear to hate now (I’m not one of them, I like the game) or have they done the right thing in making a new game?
What the hell? GW2 is ANOTHER game. It’s not supposed to be loved by every GW1 player. This wasn’t the goal. The goal was to make it for a broader aucience and they did it well. Now only future will tell us if the game will run for as long as GW1.
But I’m fairly happy with GW2 to be honest. Some of their recent moves suck IMO but that’s life and we’ll have to deal with them as long as we’ll play the game.
Just don’t listen to the forums QQers, please.
There is no QQing in this thread, this is a simple constructive conversation about if we think ANet made the right move or not. You are right about one thing, it is another game, so different to what its based on that it shouldn’t really be called Guild Wars, heck the human gods don’t even play a role anymore.
OK guys! Stop derailing the topic please.
First person view was eaten by the Dragons.
I wish they would reconsider implanting it, would be a lot easier to do jumping puzzles on the taller characters.
No remaking GW1 would have been a huge mistake. Wouldn’t have made enough money for them. Just not enough to do in that game for many of us. The GW1 fans would have loved it though, but I was not one of them.
I believe you missed the point a little bit, because I don’t recall ever mentioning remaking GW1. Also seeing as GW1 still has an active player base (I just checked) it seems to me there is pause for thought that maybe an expansion may have been the way to go (I’m not saying it should have been, just to make that clear) However, getting back to the quote above, what I meant was, could they have maybe put some of the features they have placed in GW2 in GW1. Of course we all know for some like underwater combat, and jumping apparently the answer is no, but does anyone like the underwater combat?
Gw1 is not an MMORPG!
Was it multiplier? Yes.
Errr … No ?
So you weren’t able to team up with other players and do missions then, and you weren’t able to go with a guild or random team for PvP?
Hm, that’s strange, all the people I teamed up with must have been just me.
Gw1 is not an MMORPG!
Comments like this aren’t welcome in this thread, so please be constructive.
To point out, it was and it wasn’t.
Was it massive? Yes, there were so many things to do in the game.
Was it multiplier? Yes.
Was it online? Yes.
Is there RPG elements? Er…. Yep.
GW1 was just a different approach, a very different approach to cut down on things like cost, and download size in order to play the game, plus it was much easier on graphics cards and processors, sadly that did mean everything apart form outposts was instanced, but that doesn’t detract the fact is was a different style of MMORPG.
I couldn’t think of a better title but here is quick question for you all.
Do you think ANet would have used their time better by adapting GW1 instead of creating a game that many people appear to hate now (I’m not one of them, I like the game) or have they done the right thing in making a new game?
Zoul there is a marked difference, Diablo 3 was a single player game that was a sequel to Diablo 1 and 2. GW2 is an MMO, it is not a sequel to GW1. GW1 is a sequel to GW1 because it is constantly being updated with new content.
It is not. In fact, the updates stopped when it was announced that GW2 is in the works. GW2 was specifically meant to be a “sequel” to GW1, with the intention of replacing it completely.
Wait wait wait…. if ANet stopped all their updates when GW2 was first announced years ago, please explain the Guild Wars Beyond content for me, and all the skill updates…. and the changes to the holiday events… and the additions to Pre.
I searched this before posting but couldn’t find anything.
I think the Engineer’s Medkit could use some work. I know there is a trait so you can throw your Medkits around, but with that trait I think it would be better if they act like healing grenades, you throw a Medkit at someone and it explodes but instead of damaging it heals any allies in range of the blast.
I like the Medkit, but I feel that people don’t notice one by them when they are in a fight and I think this could greatly improve the viability of this kit.
What I’d like to see with the Tool Kit is the weapon swap box making an appearance, and when you click on it your wrench changes to a two handed version.
Now I hear you say “Why in God’s name would they have a massive wrench they have to hold with two hands!?” My answer is simple, they were using it to build things like walls and the flying ships.
Hear me out on this, I think this could work on the Elixir Gun too (the ability to weapon swap for two Elixir pistols for example) with different skills that are more offensive with a daze, a knock down and so on. Well it would give us more variety in melee combat.
Someone’s been calling me, I hear the name Sparky mentioned here :P
It could be the Nightmare Court are in fact corrupted Sylvari that the dragon has corrupted in some sneaky fashion that no one has really noticed, but of course it could simply be the Nightmare Court are just moody.
There are Norn Elders that walk around from time to time, and they do sound old.
