Weylin it seems to be you wanting the mounts instead of your friends, so I’m just going to flat out say what I suspect a good portion of posters could well be thinking.
Uninstall the game, install WoW, have fun with their mount system.
Its a win win, we don’t get mounts, and you can play with these invisible friends of yours! Yaaaaaaaaay
Okay. Offical solution: GRIND-FARM for it!
Boom! There goes the anti-grind policy.
Couldn’t shot yourself in the leg more accurate, dear ArenaNet.
Just saying…What’s Your idea to offer parcipiation?
I suggest a HoT Beta Achievement list to work on and getting the portal stone.P.s.: I have a feeling this topic will be… censored, aka Deleted soon…
Even if it’s a constructive conversation topic.
Well, sir, I say this to you.
If you want it you got to work for it, or maybe just do a few bosses in SW, get the chests.
The reason this isn’t classed as grind (In my opinion) is because you do not have to get this portal to play the game. It is YOUR choice to spend hours at a time killing many a thing to get this beta key.
I can confirm its working, my code was just sent through.
After all, its only taken them 9 hours to get this far. ¬¬
All well and good, however that doesn’t help the thousands of people who have just bought GW2 for the first time and are unable to send a ticket because they don’t have an account because they can’t make one with out the serial code that is missing form the page and email.
I’m about to ask for a refund.
Having the same issue man, however there are two other threads on this already. I say everyone should open their own thread about this problem all over the forum.
Six months later.
Guess what, biiig shocker, but sane here! Same problem and also from the EU, but the main question is, what happens now?
How do A-Net solve this giant issue?
Evon Gnashblade - Hero of Lion's Arch
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: Sparky Sights.9174
I’m just going to point out that Evon leaves LA via the last working Asura Gate with his Dolyaks and shuts it down from the other side leaving people trapped who were about to use it……….. so, yeah I’ll let you guys think about that.
Let me direct the OP to this video, it should explain why they are not elves.
Underground pub, yeah I could see that happening at some point when they have nothing better to do.
Mounts, no, there will never be mounts and I wish people would stop asking.
There should be a guild rename option if there isn’t one already in the gem store. (I have no idea if there is or not)
No race change.
As for the Hylek, I’d love to see the Hylek, but for the love of god no gimmicky sun glasses. Besides the only sun glasses in game are one from the gem store I believe that can only be worn in town…. so no.
After that I stopped reading and honestly wondered if I was being trolled or not.
The medkit only works if the team takes note of where you drop or throw the bandages, having them explode when they hit the floor means they don’t even need to worry about that, in turn allowing them to focus more on what they need to focus on, killing things.
Also I said nearly useless, but make a poll and see what most of the engineering community uses in team play.
Yes, I’m back with one thing I talk about more then anything else, the medkit.
Putting it bluntly the kit itself is almost utterly useless as it stands, the only worth while thing it the utility slot. The question is how to improve them so they can be used in pvp and pve in all their forms.
I propose one minor change to the trait connected to the medkit, just adding one thing.
The bandages explode much like a grenade, healing any of the team in a small aoe. Not the biggest heal because there are tree bandages that can be thrown, same with the condition removal skills in the medkit.
I don’t believe this would be over powered, its just something that is needed to give people a worth while alternative to the healing turret and to give people that feeling of actively healing.
I have mentioned mobile turrets before, and I still think it is needed, as is a more minor thing of changing the turret skins for the most part, most look horrible, but admittedly that is a tiny thing to worry about.
On a side note, and I don’t mean to hijack the thread, medkits should explode like grenades when they hit the ground and do some reasonable AoE healing.
I’d rather see the town clothing changed to costumes so we can wear them while in combat, just like in GW1
Race change….. na, never heard of a Charr magically becoming a Sylvari before :P
It should be accessible for legit players so we can actually taunt!
And it would be cool to see the dungeon grow.
This would be brilliant.
I’d rather see the side kicking system that was going to be introduced at the game’s launch be refined and put in to the game rather then henchmen or a group of heroes.
For the people who don’t know early in game development ANet were going to give everyone their own side kick, that leveled up much like heroes, and acted just like heroes, but we could only have one and if we for some reason didn’t want one then the player would get a buff.
I’d love the choice of having one of the turrets mobile while the others aren’t, or have them all mobile but only one usable at a time, excluding the healing turret of course.
Not until its been refined.
I’ve said this from the beginning and I still want it, give turrets tank tracks, make them truly mobile!
Yes, I now this will never happen, but an Engineer can dream, right?
My main problem is that they moved too far from what they started out with in GW1, for reasons which we all know come down to attracting other players from other games for get more steaming piles of cash.
I don’t mind most of the things they changed, like the mass shortage of skills and the professions, in fact I like how they are apart from the balance issues, but I hate the level 80 cap, which has been near enough confirmed will be increasing during expansions (I there was a link on another thread, no idea which one because I forgot to make a note)
They moved the bar way too much, this is no longer Guild Wars, its something completely different and only has a few sweeteners to make it feel like Guild Wars, such as the Charr, but they dropped the ball by leaving out guild halls, alliances, UW, and for me personally, the high level cap which I feel has no place and should have stayed closer to 20.
You realize HoM items have been in the game since the very beginning? They announced HoM way before the game was even released. And yes, I do think it’s fair. You want those items, go play GW1 and earn them like the rest of us.
edit I’m confused at some of the posts in the thread. People are saying the HoM items were PvP skins and only recently got fixed, but I’ve been using the HoM items in PvE since BETA. They’ve always worked.
edit 2: Ah, so they were broken for some unfortunate souls. Well, glad they were finally fixed for those folks. That’s a long wait.
There are HoM skins for the PVP side of things, the type of PVP where your gear gets changed and can’t be used in PVE, from the same person in what is left of the Hall of Monuments, just in the tab below.
Time to throw my two quid in to the hat, even if he is just a troll. Ready?
Here goes!
They are reward items for people who have played GW1 and got 30+ HoM point… thingies, plus they are only skins and most (The fish gun!) look horrid anyway.
/Thread
For some reason I have an Engineer main, and in my alts I have… another Engineer, call me a sucker for punishment.
Is it me, or does this build depend on people being stupid enough to follow you around for half an hour?
Call me stupid but will disagree with the OP on one major thing, the Tank Cat build is much better then this.
I really really hope the Largos…. do NOT become a playable race, they would be much better as an NPC race with a nice underwater city.
There is one problem with nearly every single turret…. they suck!
They have pretty poor damage, and can not take more then two-three hits, which is rather annoying. On the other hand putting them on walls and trees is fun
These threads are beginning to feel like the constant mount threads we have every other day.
Downed state is part of the game, get used to it and pair up with someone else, or maybe invest in more toughness.
Guild hall, like many things they were planning to move to GW2 have been put on the back burner in favor of other things.
Comparing GW2 to WoW is like trying to compare a formula1 car to a race horse, it should never be done because they are so different, everything is done differently.
Also the whole game is ‘end game’ so, saying end game is boring you really mean the game is boring? However I do agree there should be a few more things, some of which we know they are working on at some point, such as guild battles.
The reason blizzard apparently know what they are doing is because they ave a monthly fee, its not about the content its more about people feeling like they have to play to get their monies worth.
We get some small buffs, a medium nerf and a trait apparently fixed (which wasn’t included in the patch notes) we can now throw our turrets around, if only they would last a bit longer.
I’m rather happy with this update, which is rare for me. Loads of buffs and only one nerf, isn’t it normally the other way around?
Plus it means my EG+Toolkit build will be more interesting to use. Never did like grenades anyway and I’ll never use them until they use normal targeting, not ground targeting.
It would be nice to have another way of playing other then the normal keyboard and mouse, but this in itself has a problem in the small things, like opening your inventiry, and even something as simple as typing.
This would be a good idea…. if you wanted to destroy the game. This would alienate the vast numbers of the over all community. Besides the current model is fine and was proven to work with GW1.
This idea has been asked a couple of times before, but mainly is the engineer forums, but I for one am very much in agreement, but I’d go one further and also in saying there should be racial kits because all the kit’s backpacks so far were made for the Charr and clip with every other race, mainly the bloody grenade kit and bomb kit…. and toolbox kit…. and the medkit…
If I had a penny or every time this topic was spoken about… I’d have enough for ice cream!
Its not like you have to do dailies, I doubt there i someone beside you with a gun at your ead screaming at you to do them.
It seems like nobody remembers that GW2 was going to have an infinite level cap with diminishing power as you leveled. In essence, that is very likely how it will be.
Now if I remember rightly this was not true, This was scrapped very early in development (around the same time the side kicking system was side lined) and they were going to rise the level cap to 60 for that stats only, so you would get your max stats then, but after that you would still gain levels just to show off how much you’ve played. The reason this was scrapped is because the amount of unrest this caused in large areas of the GW2 community, and not just the casuals either.
The dwarves all got stoned
so I doubt they’ll be playable. Last time I checked all but a one of the known dwarves(allied) are still flesh, any survivors are either stone dwarves or different clans hiding out who knows where. So quick summary of the dwarves, Stone Summit were almost completely wiped out, one known fleshy dwarf, most stone forever fighting the destroyers(much like the ghost of Ascalon hating the Charr), and with the tiny possiblity of hidden clans for extensions or whatever.
Tengu. Sure whatever, they might be added, I heard it was they just needed the game to ship so they cut out the Tengu, they already had the major races in. Rubbish? Well sure, but charr look horrendus in a majority of the armor, their unique body features all clip(fangs, tail, ears, and horns), norns are just humans scaled up in size, a majority of the female norn, human, and sylvari bodies designs are complete barbie doll shapes, all boobs and butt, their hands are sooooo tiny, and Asura are so small that we get occaisonal complaints of their size giving an inherent advantage over other races. Maybe the Tengu story was even more terrible than the human, norn, and sylvari. Maybe they just ran out of time and money….
Should they be? I’d say yes, maybe, they have a lot of potential for the future. Maybe we will take back their land in Cantha? Ive heard people say each dragon is anti-x race, maybe one of them oppose the Tengu. I could go on, but Im done ranting for today….
About that topic that is. Don’t bring anything to the table? Look at the norn, what did they bring? Beer and whiskey, and their drunken bodies too. Basically all they do is go kamikaze/hey lets go be drunken heros and end up killing our friends as we get possessed. As I already stated, they have potential for being one of the dragons main oppenents and the whole Cantha speculation.
So the Norn are just very large Dwarfs then? As Dwarfs are well known for being boozy drunkards who like to run head long in to hundreds of enemy troops with nothing more then a beard, an axe and a tankard of beer.
To be honest I can’t see this happening, plus how is one person suppose to hear someone else that on the map is miles away? Plus all you need to do it go to LA and wait a few minutes to get out of the over flow.
Is it just me, or do I say ‘plus’ a lot of them time?
As far as I’m aware if you want Orcs and Dwarfs, better go to WoW, plus if you meant Ogres, as far as I can see they are a bit too tall to be playable because they couldn’t do even the simplest of jumping puzzles without getting stuck. :P
The Dwarfs, well there was a very long thread about them, but I can’t find it now.
GOD NO! I’d hate to see the level cap keep going up, in fact, I’d go back to GW1 if that happened.
Yes, our think our Pale Tree only grew the way it did because of the influence of the dragon sleeping at its roots.
Erm…. are you being serious, or are you just saying that for the post you quoted?
If you were being serious I’ll just wave the tablet the Pale Tree loves so much in front of your face to show you why our tree is different to the other, because it had something to guide itself by, not because of a dragon.
What is with all the hype about the Tengu, personally I find them to look rubbish in GW2, they don’t even move their beaks properly during the cut scenes. I would guess its because A-Net admitted they were going to use them as a playable race then decided against it. That leaves me to ask the community two questions.
Why do you think A-Net went against making the Tengu playable?
Should they be?
Now before I get people just mentioning how much they love the Tengu, I’m not looking for that, so please don’t bring it here.
As for me, I think A-Net chose not to make them in the end because they thought they would serve better as NPC’s and I suspect they simply started running out of time.
As for my second question, I think they are better as NPC’s, because….well…. I can’t see what they would bring as a playable race, other then a beak that barely moves during cut scenes. However I would love to see their city opened up so we can learn more about them that wasn’t mentioned in GW1 or in GW2 lore.
I don’t think A-Net will want to spend so much time in redesigning every bit of armor for the Skritt, after all, all they did for the Charr was stretch most of the player armour, so I can’t see this happening.
On a side note I’d rather see the Hylek, less work and there seems to be more Hylek running around LA, plus I can see some of the Hylek banding together to make their own city somewhere just above Sparkfly Swamp.
I’m not going to quote TheOddOne’s post above because I’m too lazy to go through it, however with regards about your argument to a line said in GW1, Ogden mentioning the Dwarfs were too few to contain the Destroyers, and have since turned to stone which has stopped reproduction (an educated guess) and we can assume they have suffered heavy casualties over time by fighting the Destroyers (Again educated guess) and the fact that Dwarfs were few in number to begin with (As seen in GW, the Dwarfs split in to two factions, and I don’t see the Stone Summit Dwarfs aiding the Deldremor Dwarfs in any of this hence not mentioning them) I fail to see the point in you mentioning all the other races, mainly because they aren’t fighting a dragon, they are just trying to stop the Destroyers from getting to the surface, and are slowly failing in this (Likely due to lack of numbers) and they have no interest in the other dragons because when they turned themselves to stone they had one goal, drive back the Destroyers, this goal they are still trying to do.
With regards to places like Thunderhead Keep, I assumed the Norn took these areas for their own when driven south (Of course they may not have taken every single area, but likely the bigger areas where they could build/repair) and most of the underground areas have been ransacked by the Dredge or maybe have been taken over by our annoying shiny loving friends, the Skritt (Educated guess again but seems likely due to the fact Skritt prefer underground dwellings)
The biggest thing you seem to forget is that as much as you and other people would love to see them become playable (which is your opinion and you are right to have it) its simply lore breaking, even if they were to turn back, again completely lore breaking because the change was made because of The Great Dwarf’s hammer and as far as we know there is no tool to undo that… simply because why would they want to disrespect something they believe to be their God (Yes they did worship The Great Dwarf as their God) and with their changed mindset they wouldn’t want to change back.
Final bit from me, I see no open doors, I only see people wanting it to happen and clutching at straws, which in itself is no bad thing because people can give brilliant ideas, just not in this case, it should never happen and I still claim they said it would never happen in a blog post that I still can’t find despite searching.

Ah, thanks for the info, maybe I’ll have to invest in some crit as well as toughness, power and vit :P
so I doubt they’ll be playable. Last time I checked all but a one of the known dwarves(allied) are still flesh, any survivors are either stone dwarves or different clans hiding out who knows where.
