Solar, I’ve made a decent setup. I decided for a GTX 760 OC 2GB Gigabyte card but it seems they run out of those.

What do you think about PCI-E XFX AMD RADEON HD 7950 DD, 3GB DDR5, HDMI, DVI, 2xDP, HDTV?

One question I forgot to ask – how loud will that setup be? I would like to keep it as low as it can get, without having to splash a lot of bucks for it.

At home I had i5 2400, 550TI, 8GB RAM etc.

That will be a decent improvement?

So, I was thinking something like :

i5 3570K
GTX 760
8GB RAM

and all the rest what is needed as power supply, cooling, motherboard, etc

At the store I’m looking to buy it all, I just cant find the 7870 XT/LE version. GTX 760 is a kitteneaper than that 7870.

At home I have 550TI – is that GTX 760 a decent improvement?

So long as the 7870 is a XT/LE version with around 1500 cores, then any manufactuers version would be fine. Check the specs of that card and see if it has around1500 cores (XT/LE version) or around 1200 cores (Reference/Ghz edition). You want ~1500.

Im pritty sure the Sapphire Flex is a Ghz edition so its got 1200 cores.

What would be better, that one or GTX 760?

On the rig i listed … well the cooler should allow for a sizable OC around the 4.2ghz to 4.5ghz markdepending on required voltage, so in places like PvE, WvW, and LA it should perform as good as can be atm.
I.E as good as my own rig and other peoplw high end rigs.

That said its an i5 so in rare casses GW2 will max out all the cores and u will drop a few FPS compared to i7 rigs.

With a 7870XT u would likely run the game at full settings excluding Reflections:All, Supersampling, and maybe Ultra shadows. All of which should be turned down 1 level.

All in all it ‘should’ run GW2 ‘almost’ as good as any rig can at the moment.

Doesnt include the price of a monitor ..but, maybe u could use it like a consol till u have the money for a monitor. I.e hook it up to ur TV.

That said, since now ur looking at a desktop, why not do as i sugested earlier and rebuild ur current PC into a small case. All u would need is a new motherboard, Case, and likely a CPU cooler. Would be MUCH cheaper.

Need a new one, cause I left the old one to my brother.

if u only need a small PC, and dont need a laptop for portability outside ur home then look into building or buyign a LAn gaming rig aka M-iTx/M-Atx bassed PC.

They can be very small, taking up not much more room than ur average consol.

Give us ur deffinaition of playable and we can let u know what to look for.
Your budget is tight, and GW2 requirs a strong CPU, somthing laptops dont have uness u spend thousands on them. So if u want to play GW2’s WvW or other busy events, then a laptop is not for u becouse FPs will be horrible <20.

GPu wise u want somthing like a GTX 760m , the 740m is not gaming grade. The 8750m is a tad slower than a 640m, and would requir u to run GW2 on Low, if http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Radeon-HD-8750M.87147.0.html is anything to go by.

I dont mean to sound overly negative but i like to make sure people understand and know what to expect. its better u end up pleasently surprised if im overly negative, than be dissapointed if i sound to positive.

What i would sugest as a minimum would be a laptop with a 3630QM or 4700MQ CPU with a 670m/760m/6970m GPU.

Those are the anwsers I’m looking for. I dont need sweat talk, I just would like to know what can I expect.

Definition of playstyle – well, I was playing on a desk PC at home, with an i5, 660TI and it was good. A lot of settings on high, some medium and it was from 40-60 fps, depending on the location/situation. Some big zergs were not so good, but still not horrible.

I’m looking to capture something like that. I could stretch my budget a bit more if for some more money I could get a decent increase.

If you don’t mind I’ll link some compositions over the next few days to try to find out max I can get for my money.

P.S. I know a desk PC would be better, but I have a small flat and dont have room for it, so a laptop is a must.

That should be fine to play the game. You won’t max out settings with 60+ fps, but definitely playable.

So, I’m looking to buy a new laptop. I dont play many games, GW2, LoL and Civ5. So, I need a laptop for that. Could you help me out?

What kind of components should I be looking for? I’m not really a comp wiz.

When checking some websites, I see some i7-4500U, Radeon 8750M (2GB) and such, but doesnt tell me much.

What kind of marks should I be looking at?

Price budget : 660-900 euros (I know it’s not much)

I was just mad about the most stupid issues like camera ones. As a player, I can’t imagine you can create a content where most if not all races have camera issues. If I was a boss, some people would get fired over that. Luckily I’m not.

So, dear Anet. I’m really appreciating this game and enjoying it, but 1 year after the launch, what the hell are you doing with the camera issues.

I play a Charr elementalist. I find it very good looking and such, and I don’t want to play a generic boring human (for me, at least). But, I’m really getting fed up with camera issues.

I was on a holiday so I wanted to catch up on the last 10 days so I was doing Queens gauntlet. And, the camera for a Charr is horid in those arenas. Somehow I managed to get to Liadri, but.. I don’t see anything. It’s unbelievable. What, none of your testers dont play Charr (I imagine Norns have the same issues)?

Cmon, in 2013, such a big game with such an issue. Are you serious? Why not at least make those arenas a bit bigger so I can at least see 70% of the field.

As it is now, it’s no fun to try to finish those boss fights when I don’t see more than 50% of the arena.

Bout the GPU – is there any alternative to Nvidia 760?

I’m not that much into OC’ing.

For the Xeon part, I’ve checked and have found some Xeon E3, not the v3 version, and it’s really expensive. 500+ euros. I’ve sent an inquiry about that particular model you mentioned and they dont have it and cant get it. Keep in mind, this is Croatia. Expensive tech and not everything available.

Also, for the GPU I was thinking 760? Should I go with that or with something cheaper.

Currently I have some i5 at home, with 560TI, 8GB RAM, nothing special. But I can run GW2 on high/max settings for lets say 60% of the settings. Some are tuned down like shadows and such and the game looks great with real solid FPS 50+. In open world, dungeons and such (apart from the WvW but we all know that) it runs really smooth.

So, I was talking to a friend. Could you check this setup.

If you are not into overclocking, I will recommend getting a very basic H87 motherboard and a Xeon E3-1230v3. Sounds dumb, but it’s actually the best non-overclocking bang for your buck. These should not set you back more than about 300 Euros give a take a few.

After that, invest around 100 EUR in a case and power. 500-600 Watts will be enough, but quality is important here, don’t go cheap on the power as it will be one of the longest running parts in your computer.

Next bit, the graphics card. I would recommend investing into a GTX760, which are just out in the market. I favor ASUS DC2 models for their quiet operation. Cost is around 300 EUR.

Next up, get a ~120GB SSD drive, cost around 100 EUR. On top of that, a big enough HDD to hold all your files. 1TB is usually plenty, cost around 60-70 EUR.

This should leave you enough money for a Windows 7 or 8 license, around 120 EUR, 8GB of RAM and an optical drive.

This setup will serve you for a long, long time. The only thing you might want to swap in a year or two is the graphics card.

EDIT: Didn’t notice that you probably also need a monitor and mouse+keyboard + maybe headphones? In that case, you can shave off some on the CPU (go for a lower range i5) and the GPU (GTX660) to afford a 24" full HD display and others.

I’ve got Razer Naga mouse and Razer Arctosa keyboard. Also, got one monitor that I’ll use. Basically, I need help with the case setup and stuff that goes in.

What about Procesor INTEL Core i7 4770K BOX, s. 1150, 3.5GHz, 8MB cache, GPU, Quad Core – or something like that? Is that worth it. We’re talking about mostly GW here.

That CPU and motherboard would be something like 400 euros or a bit more.

Hi, I dont play a lot of games. Just GW2 and LoL. And I’m not really a PC wizz. So would need a hand from you expert guys to decide what to buy soon. I’m moving to my own place and I’ll need a brand new PC just for me.

So, I got something like 1000 euros or something like that (keep in mind, I’m from Croatia and prices of electronics are higher).

What would I like :

- need a full rig setup from you guys, from the motherboard to the cooler
- I would like to have 60 FPS in most activities except the WvW
- I dont like when the PC is loud, is it possible to be quiet?
- I would like it to be a long term investment, but dont need it for other games

Here’s an idea, DONT BUY THEM. Dont farm them, dont spend gems on them, dont anything with them. Just, ignore them, ignore the whole set of new skins next time they do this. Send the message that this is not okay and you’re sick of it. That will make them change their strategy to something more consumer friendly.

But i doubt people will change. I can already see it now, the next wave of skins from RNG boxes. And within hours the first thread:

There are only 2 regions for servers. North America and Europe. Every server in each region is located in the same place. I believe North American servers are in texas and european servers are in UK.

Is it possible to trasnfer from Europe servet to NA one? And if so, would I have delay as I’m playing from Europe.

It sure is frustrating. Specially when you want to get all the Dragon Bash achievements and miss that one. 12/20 so far.. Frustrating when you have 10 kills, guy bellow you 8 and then 3 guys with 0 kills.. Sucks. Gotta ride it out, its the same for all.

Here on Gandara EU there’s really no problem with people. I always run into some. Sometimes we team up to do some champs, some events, help with hearts etc..

Oh boy… Oh my..

I got all the achievements on the Southsun event recently, and would like to get them all on Dragon Bash too. I got time, no hurry, but, I do admit, achievements like smash 150 pinatas are really boring. Specially when you need to change characters and such.

Maybe could have thought of something else? Or less achievements? Dragon ball ones are okay, its fun to play that.

Just agree, that those “F” achievements are not fun.. But got to get them all.
