Yak’s Bend dont mess around! Great battle tonight. Defending an siege against durious when the wall was down was an amazing comeback! Eventually pushing our way into SM and taking it was marvelous. The great siege led by Thor/Grundle, Me, and Jonstern was epic. The final assault into the main room was a sight to behold

I’d like to thank the 2 other commanders that were present, all of the players who helped and Blackwater Vanguard[BV]. Everyone’s battle skills and tactical knowledge overwhelmed our enemies and brought them to their knees!

A toast to the fallen and hopefully we hold the castle for many hours to come.

Was a really fun fight.. CD had been trebbing the crap out of everything we owned all night long in EB and I kept saying I wanted SM.. I wanted SM.. I wanted SM.. Finally 6hrs later and one really big push we finally got in.. Lyorkie did a nice job at sieging and holding Durios while being trebbed by CD from SM.. all in all was a fun night..

Good fights on EB tonight.. Enjoyed that SM battle around 2:30AM EST.. finally got you guys with that portal..

Ascended is bad because of the stat combinations they offer. Most WvW players want Soldier jewelry with zerker upgrade stats because of the crit damage efficiency, but ANet offers only crappy stat combinations.

That’s one thing that SWG did well.. gave you options for armor.. was great.. the stats here aren’t “bad” they just need more diversity to make it more of a sandbox type of game.. No game does that anymore.. seems like games now-a-days encourage you to use the cookie cutter builds or the FOTM’s..

I haven’t spotted one it is like you said zerker with vitality sprinkled in. What would be good is something like infusions that give +20 to a stat and can be extracted and swapped out as you see fit for a bit more customization.

PVE doesn’t even offer infusions with those kind of + #’s to it.. its all miniscule which is why the gold of MF is better..

but to be specific he was talking about the apothecary set I believe.. either way using ascended gear plus a solid mix of armor and runes you can achieve greater #’s than you can with regular exotics.. its about mixing and matching and finding the right sets with the priority attributes being the ones you want/need/like..

If you go to the ascended vendor scroll to the very bottom there is gear with

precision
toughness
power

Precision is the main stat but thats not knights. Knight’s is represented about half way down at the vendor.

hey now… #‘s and words can be rather confusing.. although I will say the vendor for the ascended gear is definitely a little unorganized that’s for sure..

Eh, he’s right. IF you are mixing gems and exotics in your trinkets, then ascended may not always be worth it. However, in terms of pure numbers, ascended items do provide more stats.

if your mixing it on your jewelry you may be able to get better #’s out of mixing your armor and runes then the jewelry at that point then, no?

A direct comparison of Berserker stats on rings:

Red Ring of Death (Ascended):
One hundred three Power.
Sixty eight Precision.
Eight Critical Damage.

Ruby Orichalcum Ring (Exotic):
Sixty seven plus twenty five -> Ninety two power.
Forty eight plus fifteen -> Sixty three Precision.
Three plus three -> Six Critical Damage.

I hope that clears things up.

have been playing this game since launch and i had only really heard about combo fields but never actually used/taken advantage of them. i have been seeing in wvw lately ‘condition removal’ and stuff like that on people, but never realy thought about what it was. combat in gw2 is too cluster-kitteny to really take advantage of combo fields.

Hence coming up with ways to make combo fields work for you if your too all over the place to see fields during the heat of the battle.. before entering battle commander calls for a stack and for people to lay down certain fields and then use the blast finishers.. needless to say that in an long fight those buffs will go away and your stuck back at the “I cant see fields during fights” problem.. I suggest just paying more intricate detail and use better communications for using fields and finishers..

I mean I didn’t love your PvForum tactics but at least it provided me with great entertainment during my work hours.. Now I have to stare at nothing on a computer screen.. its odd.. I have not even seen many of the Kain people that were PvForum warring vs. Mags either.. Where has my entertainment gone!!

SBI looks like they are giving DB more trouble than Mags are from the tick at the moment..

Going to air some dirty laundry here about DB so you can make a proper decision and don’t care if people hate my honesty for it.

I don’t think you should come to DB, based on the patterns I see it’s on the same path as Kaineng.

-Guilds that “strategically” stop playing because when we aren’t winning
-Server PPT dependent on overnight crews that sometimes show sometimes don’t
-Server meetings that end up more venting about BS than discussing the “who, how and when” for achieve goals
-Terrible “natives > transfers” holier than thou attitude.
-Several guild leaders are going to either quit or take long term breaks in the near future
-Website leads don’t reach out to guilds but rather demand guilds to reach in (which shows they are “real serious” about cooperating with everybody)
…etc, sounds familiar?

Difference is Kaineng had fewer guilds and tried harder before it imploded. Don’t trust me about the eventual drama, here’s a recent drama:

May 31st – Reset Night on EB. 5 guilds are heading there; my guild had majority players so we ended up leading main zerg. 1.5 hours before reset I tried to talk to the other 4 guilds who are always in EB (despite other guilds asking them to rotate EB once in a while which they refuse and despite they having a history of not cooperating with other transfer guilds but I tried anyway) and not one of them got into TS to discuss strategy, one officer of one guild says they are going to play defense and scout as they “always do” but he’s not sure via tells. I told him it’s stupid not to know what the main zerg is doing, try to get somebody on TS or send me a tell to spend 2 minutes so they know what I am doing at least and we can be partially in sync.

At 8:59pm EST one of the reps finally gets on TS to inform me I don’t know him and it’s his purse before dropping his cyber resume which amounted to “I log online like everybody else but I say I’m better than you.” I tell him I don’t care and don’t give a rats about your history or anybody who can’t spend 2 minutes to know what each others strat is so just do your thing. After he trolls me some more and makes fun of Red Essence for some reason about how I will fail he drops a “welcome to DB” before rage quitting. They also shortly after map reset send a spy to join my guild.

Game time, we win all our fights cept one three-way we had to run away from in ogres, we have our third of the map plus SMC, plus two towers and supply in the enemy zone. SMC and our third is being upgraded safetly, we have walls already on SMC and working on gates it hasn’t been 2 hours yet. I keep getting trolled in map and tells because I am not responding to their “scouts” who don’t give numbers as fast as they like but I did move my zerg quickly to defend klovan, overlook, WC…etc and we saved them all. They are defending scouting like they wanted, I am leading main zerg and trying to adapt to their strat despite not having a full force in my hands to fight off the enemy full forces at times but all seems good our PPT is great and third safe.

All we had to do is maintain, main zerg was hovering around SMC and ready to warp to spawn based on scouts at this point and anytime we had a chance press SBI on their towers we took and re-took…etc. Well their scouts decided to not report any SMC moves to let Mag ninja it on us so they can troll me, they blamed the strategy, they blamed me…etc when it really it was a scouting performance issue. It’s about 2 hours 10 minutes into the night, I had my fill at this point from the “regulars” as they call themselves, I delayed our zerg to let Mag build up millions of ACs in SMC, I break the double team strat and kitten off both sides before we bail map.

Knowing the spy is in my guild still we get a bunch of us to kitten , moan and cry in guild chat about the night. We talk about creating our own alliance within the server without the DB “regulars” just to get them to poop a bit…etc knowing they are reporting it all back thinking they are so sneaky. Next day the spy quits the guild, all of Saturday the “regulars” furrow their brows about this alliance talk and this morning they come up with this:

If you transferred you will be welcomed for about 2 weeks but you’ll only be respected by other transfer guilds. Be careful where you end up, in my opinion stable communities are worth Tier fluctuation if they even fluctuate. Be happy with your homework before you move is all I can really say.

some of these fights have been really fun.. CD came out with a great showing so far.. just hope the Tier stays this close all week and not just for the weekend..

I started playing the game around kitten months ago and Yaks was the server a few of my friends and I decided to start on.. the community has been great and really accepting and inviting.. The bigger guilds are all apart of our yaksbend.com website and everyone is willing to help each other out. If anyone is personally interested in transferring over or your a guild that is looking at a transfer I would strongly recommend a place like Yaks.. good people and lots of fun..

Some real good fights on Kain BL tonight.. Had a lot of fun SW/bay side of the map for a while..

People keep claiming the zergs avoid each other but I havnt seen an even # of people run away from either side yet.. most of the fights I shy away from are when we are out #’d by a boatload..

In Mag BL at least, it’s been mostly trying to keep our little corner. Not sure about score, but I think Yaks were leading when I got off. Kudos to them. Now, here’s hoping [pro] will stop making incursions on Briar. :P

Had this issue as of about 4 hours ago.. I’ve defragged, restarted router, checked all updates and still experienced unbearable lag. In arah path 3 at the last boss, on my screen I was in the middle of the platform, but my guild through mumble told me I fell off the cliff and on to the bottom pathway.. I hope this server issue gets fixed ASAP…

another way to avoid sending the item to the wrong person via typo is to just add them to friend (or check guild list if they are in the guild) and right click their name to send them the mail so typos are taken out of the equation..

what about having the pet drop off smaller cliffs with you rather then turning around and walking down the path aggroing everything in site?? that tends to get rather annoying when you are running past things —

Did you just hop on the forums w/out reading any other posts before you made this one?? i mean c’mon out of the 1st page of posts im willing to bet 50% of them are about how useless rangers are in EVERYTHING.. and you musta unshelved the game or something entirely because if you were still playing but on another toon you would have seen how useless we still are.. We got nerfed and still dont have more than 1 maybe 2 viable builds..

I still find it absolutely hysterical that nobody from teh “balance” team or Mr. Peterson himself has still yet to show up.. They dont wana get verbally stoned to death over a forum where they created all the animosity. Is there goal to have the entire ranger community leave the game?? I just dont understand, seeing as how they have openly stated that they are aware of the problems and are aware of what needs to be done yet they didnt do anything to help the class what so ever.. But hey, at least i can tell the difference between my 2 birds which i never used anyway..

The problem isn’t any of the kitten they listed:

Pet ai, Spirits, Axe weapon jus to name a few… I could go on forever really.

Is it that hard and long and cost intensive to fix the pet ai? Don’t even bother working on bird graphics, you have hundreds of class fixes on the table and you guys kittening fix the bird icon? Let’s see how well the bird icon change does for me in combat, oh … I can see the same pet not doing kitten in a fight, just has a more noticeable icon graphic. thanks guys for helping us out with that.

longbow//Shortbow builds are good for both WvWvW and PVE — if you carry a axe or sword (for when you need to melee a certain boss/mobs in PVE) and a warhorn for the swiftness buff its very viable.. if your going for all out crit chance then you gotta go 30/30 and the rest is up to you.. but i suggest putting atleast 5pts in the beastmastery line for the extra swiftness buff (zephyrs’s Speed — Very useful)
