We’ve seen reports from players questioning the randomness of the drop mechanisms in GW2 and in particular asking if it’s been changed recently. This is not the case and we don’t think that the randomness mechanism is misbehaving, but we’re running some data to be sure there isn’t anything unexpected going on. So far nothing shows anything suspicious but we’ll keep gathering data and analyzing it. We’ve also created a thread where players can share with us their concrete data about any perceived strange drop behavior they encounter:
We’ve seen reports from players questioning the randomness of the drop mechanisms in GW2 and in particular asking if it’s been changed recently. This is not the case and we don’t think that the randomness mechanism is misbehaving, but we’re running some data to be sure there isn’t anything unexpected going on. So far nothing shows anything suspicious but we’ll keep gathering data and analyzing it.
So we’ve created this thread so that players can share with us their concrete data about any perceived strange drop behavior they encounter. Please be as accurate as possible, reporting only concrete data that you’ve experienced first hand. Among the information we’re interested in: map where you played, creatures you fought that dropped items, recipes from the Mystic Forge that you used.
The statistics reported on the wiki pages for the Wintersday Mystery Box drop rates are incorrect, due to the method being used for calculating them. Some of our item packages use more than one loot table to determine what you get from opening them. Whenever you open a Wintersday Mystery Box, it randomly drops items selected from 2 tables, each having specific items and their own drop rates.
We’ve seen people mention the low drop rates of Foostivoo from Wintersday Mystery Box and would like to remind people that the primary way to obtain this miniature is from the Mystic Forge, by combining other minis (wiki link).
Keep an eye on the area around Fort Marriner waypoint–the event will kick off when construction is complete on the catapults. Note that catapult completion time may vary a bit between overflows.
You can only complete Phase 1 AFTER PHASE 2 HAS STARTED if you have the map fragment.
RvLeshrac.2673 is correct and I’m sorry for not repeating this part of my previous message. If you’re not interested in completing Phase 1, this information will NOT affect you and you can happily participate to Phase 2 right now!
We have now identified and applied fixes for the reported bugs related to the Lost Shores phase 1. This includes events for the NPCs Canach and Fahd al’Eshadhi, but not for Noll who is still bugged. We’ve also fixed the bugs of Miyani sending multiple emails, Blingg’s voice over being spammed, the Largos dynamic events and a few other bugs.
We’ve identified the fix for Noll’s event but this fix will require additional time to implement. Because of this we’re going to leave the Phase 1 dynamic events (investigation of the Karka attacks) open even after Phase 2 starts (Saturday November 17 at 12pm Pacific Time), which will allow us to push a fix for Noll’s dynamic event later so that players can complete phase 1 of The Lost Shores event.
This change in the organization of the event means that:
To complete Phase 1, you have to complete the dynamic event chain leading to Noll before Saturday November 17 at 12pm Pacific Time; you will be able to complete the dynamic events after Noll once we’ve pushed the fix; you can refer to the "wiki article about Phase ":http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/The_Lost_Shores/Phase_1> for more information;
Some NPCs (primarily Canach and Inspector Ellen Kiel) will be duplicated for phases 2 and 3, and may appear simultaneously in Lion’s Arch and in Southsun Cove.
We’re very sorry about this and hope that you can continue to experience The Lost Shores and help us retake Lion’s Arch and repel the Karkas!
I’ve received the “More Information, and Our Thanks” message almost two dozen times since logging in tonight, even before I started the Lost Shores quest!
This is also a bug that we’ll be correcting during the next patch.
We’d like to provide you with a quick update on the situation.
We’re still working on fixes to the Lost Shore events (related to NPCs Canach, Noll and Fahd al’Eshadhi). We have no ETA on when fixes will be deployed but we’re working as fast as possible to bring them to you.
We’ve also made a few changes to react to the lag that some players have been experiencing.
We’d like to welcome you to this event forum for The Lost Shores which will be live very soon. You’ll be able to find in this sticky thread all the information available about the event and we’ll update it whenever there’s new information.
We’re going to publish a blogpost about the new ascended items on the Guild Wars 2 website. This should answer most of the community’s questions before the content is live this weekend.
Added Mad King Chests to the Mystic Forge. These chests always have Halloween items such as candy corn, Halloween crafting materials, and Halloween tonics. There’s a rare chance they may also have Halloween skins for weapons and shoulders.
Added a Mystic Forge recipe to create Mad King Chests: 1 Piece of Candy Corn, 6 Mystery Tonics, 1 Boost (of any kind), and another Boost (of any kind).
Tactician Footi will now properly build her cannon after being resurrected in Cursed Shore.
Removed all hidden trick-or-treat bag nodes from Lion’s Arch.
Halloween-themed PVP items now salvage into the correct materials.
You seem to know all about wikis so I’m not going to discuss it here (it’s an interesting topic but I’m not sure that the forum is here to bring awareness about editing the wikis). I’ll just say that we fully agree that our wikis should be the best source of information and they’re doing fantastically well, thanks to a large and active community of editors.
I can see that some of your comments are valid, but here’s how I would suggest that you approach the problem on our wikis (approach may differ based on wikis, as we now have 4 of those, but there’ll always be someone to help you find the right place to discuss these topics): start discussing it on the discussion pages and if you can’t get any traction there, raise the discussion on the Practices and processes page. You can also talk to one of the Buraucrats or Sysops directly on their talkpage and I’m sure that one of them will be able to discuss it more in detail.
We tend to let the community manage the rules and codes on the wiki by itself. It’s worked for many years and we see no reason to change that. If a lot of people on the wiki agree with you that the need for formatting is increasingly ignored, then you can bring it to me directly (I’m the Community Liaison and here’s my talkpage ) and we can start discussing what could be done about this, a discussion that will obviously involve the whole wiki community.
I’ll close this discussion for now as: 1) this is not the appropriate forum; and 2) this discussion will get more traction on the wiki directly.
Thanks for your work on the wikis!
Ancient wood, Orichalcum Ore, and Mithril Ore nodes respawn rate is now tied directly to characters and set to respawn one day after your character gathered from it.
We cannot comment on individual names due to the large variety of names that players are able to create, but know that we take actions against inappropriate and offensive names, including account termination.
I’d like to clarify two things about our stance on botting: first we’re not going to share details about what we’re doing or reply to some of the specific questions that some of you are asking here. If you have suggestions, please remember to use the Suggestion forum (and make sure to read this post first). As Mike explained, we’re committed to fighting botters.
The second topic is about reporting botters. We’re seeing a few people reporting bots here on the forums, with screenshots that are showing private information. These reports should NOT be on the forums.
If you want to report what looks like suspicious behavior, please use the in-game report function that works as follows :
1) Select the character
2) Right-click on his name at the top of the window
3) Select the “Report” option in the contextual menu
4) Choose on the appropriate report reason
5) Finally click the “Submit report” button
Please use the report feature responsibly as abusing this feature could be a factor in your account being banned.
We’re sorry about this short interruption of services. We’re still investigating what caused it. Players who logged back in and saw an outdated status for their characters should try to log out and back in again. Please let us know if this doesn’t change the situation.
If you validated your email address, the ability to change it via the Account Management site has been temporarily disabled, for security reasons. You’ll have to submit a support ticket via http://support.guildwars2.com/ to ask for it to be changed (please make sure to explain that your email address was validated).

If you’re seeing an error message, please double-check that you’re typing the information correctly. If you’re still seeing the error message and you’re sure that you’re typing the correct information, please check how to update your Support ticket (or submit a new one if you haven’t done so yet) here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Multiple-Tickets-Don-t-do-it/first#post5143
The self-help system is live today for testing for the players who need to reset their passwords or turn off email authentication on their account. Keep in mind that, with email authentication off, your account security relies on you using a unique and strong password for Guild Wars 2 that you’ve never used anywhere else.
There’s currently a bug that’s preventing some guilds from upgrading their guild when your guild has 10 ranks defined. We’re working on fixing this asap, but in the meantime would like to share a workaround: go to your Roles tab and delete one of those ranks; you should then have 9 ranks) and be able to upgrade again.
Sorry about that and thanks for your understanding!
If you’re having issues with the guild system, please report the issues here with as many details as possible (e.g., guild names, tags and world, etc.).
