Hi,
We do not allow discussion of a non-technical nature in the API Development subforum, as per the rules explained in this thread We’re actually not inviting suggestions for the community of API developers (the Suggestions subforum is only for players suggesting things about the GW2 game) so there’s unfortunately no place for a topic like this on the GW2 forums. We suggest that you directly contact API developers to discuss these suggestions.
Thanks for your understanding.

World vs. World
Balance, Bug-Fixing, Polish
Hey everyone,
With Tuesday’s release we are gearing up to launch the new Looking For Group tool for Guild Wars 2. As the system comes online, our primary focus is with the quality and the stability. To ensure a solid rollout, we’ll turn on the LFG tool in beta form to a subset of players. As the week goes on, we’ll periodically unlock the system to additional groups of players.
In Tuesday’s release notes, you’ll see the complete list of what the feature will do once we’ve fully unlocked the system. However, during the beta rollout not everyone will be able to use the LFG tool and the World vs. World subcategories will be disabled.
The Looking for Group feature has been highly requested and we’re excited to be this close to its final release, but quality is paramount. Therefore, we ask for your patience and understanding while we work through this phased beta rollout and with any problems we encounter.
Thanks,
Mike Zadorojny
& the Looking For Group team
Since this is not a technical discussion (the way it’s formulated at least), I’ll move this discussion to the Fan-Generated Content. Please read this sticky to make sure you understand the posting rules for the API Development subforum. Thank you.
A note about your thread: we think that it’s perfectly permissible within this forum. We’ll be monitoring these threads to make sure that the API Dev subforum can focus on technical discussions. We’ll also add this note to the sticky thread.
Thanks for your work on this GW2 API app!
As explained in this sticky thread, the API Development subforum is not meant for non-technical discussions about the Guild Wars 2 API. You can discuss this topic in the Guild Wars 2 Discussion subforum
This maintenance is now over.

Hi everyone,_
I’d like to inform you that Cliff has now left ArenaNet to follow a career opportunity that he couldn’t pass. Cliff has been too busy last week to post on the forum, but he wanted to express his gratitude to the API community and tell you that he had lots of fun interacting with all of you. _(update: see his message at the bottom of this post)
But this is not the end of the Guild Wars 2 API, because ArenaNet will continue to expand the API and support its community of developers. In fact, another programmer who’s been working with Cliff long before the transition will be shortly here to take over Cliff’s role on the API Development subforum. So be ensured that it may not be a big change, we in fact have more developers helping with the API behind the scene.
Thanks everyone for your participation to this community.
EDIT: in fact Cliff wanted to share the following with the API community:
_Hi everyone,
As Stephane said, I’m leaving ArenaNet, but I’ve had an incredible time here. I’ve wanted to work on public API since I started here, and I’m really happy that we’ve been able to start releasing them. I’ve been thrilled with the positive response to the APIs, and the community you’ve formed around creating apps. I’ll be eagerly watching to see how both the API and API apps develop in the future. Thanks for your support and enthusiasm while we’ve worked together._

Oh no please!
All sticky threads except the one about the Development Plans will eventually move to the wiki. Of course we’ll be listening to feedback from developers here and if this is something that developers think goes against their practice, we may change our plans.
Note that the wiki can notify you by email of change to each of these documents, which pretty improves on this thread being updated (except that you’ll have to look at 2 different sites).
I’m really sorry for how this thread went… This is was totally not what I wanted to achieve.
Some moderator, please close this thread…
Don’t be, I’m sure you only had good intentions when you created this thread. It was a good opportunity to clarify the matter and it’s allowed us to share some ground rules with everyone (so we won’t close it). Thanks for your understanding Goddchen.4958!
Hi AdelphiA.9287,
Thanks for letting us know here. I’ve modified my messages to be clearer, sorry for the confusion caused (I forgot to remove this bit when copying/pasting the text from other threads).
This is why I mentioned a “progressive move to the wiki” as there’ll be things to clarify and also developers will have to get used to the wiki practices. The wiki is not a promotion tool, except for these specific areas where we allow it (such as the list of applications). You can see it as the equivalent of the set of stickies on this subforum, they work with their own rules. The only place where we’ll allow you to run your own promotion and feedback-gathering is in the “Fan-generated Content”.
These rules are set so that we can preserve the specific tone and role of each media. I’ll summarize this here by emphasizing the key points:
Feel free to share your views on this general organization, so that we can make it work for everyone. You’ll notice from Dr Ishmael’s post that we have an active and helpful community of wiki editors and administrators, they’ll be able to help you understand the wiki practices and tools.
Let me know if you have questions or comments. Thank you.
Do you plan such a namespace also for the “other” wikis, namely german, french and spanish? If yes, count me in for german.
Hey smiley! I’ll share with everyone the answer I gave you on the wiki
We actually decided to only do the API in English and not in any other language so that developers (most of whom speak English) can focus on the English API Development subforum and interact with Cliff. This is a “design” choice but we’re not against players relaying these information in other languages of course (thanks for doing it in German. We’d rather though that the community of API application developers focus its efforts in one language, since it’s much more efficient that way (it’s after all a rather small community at the moment, albeit an active, engaged and knowledgeable one).
Hi everyone,
As explained here, we’re going to progressively move this stickied thread to the official Guild Wars 2 wiki.
The new page for the API change list is this article on the wikis: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/API:Changelog
Thanks.
Hi everyone,
As explained here, we’re going to progressively move this stickied thread to the official Guild Wars 2 wiki.
The main page for the API documentation will be this one: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/API:Main
It’s not finalized yet but you can see the structure, split in subpages for each part of the API.
Feel free to join the API editor group on the wiki to add information or maintain the page above ! You can leave comments about this on the forum thread I linked above or directly get in touch with me via forum private messages. Thanks.

Hi everyone,
As explained here, we’re going to progressively move this stickied thread to the official Guild Wars 2 wiki.
I started populating the page using the links in this thread:

Hi everyone,

I started populating the page using the links in this thread (but am probably missing less than a week of data):

Feel free to join the API editor group on the wiki to add your own application (specifically to this page and using the same format used) or maintain the page above ! You can leave comments about this on the forum thread I linked above or directly get in touch with me via forum private messages. Thanks.

Hi everyone,
We’re going to progressively move the key documents currently hosted in sticky posts on the API Development subforum to the official Guild Wars 2 Wiki. This should make their management and update much easier, improving the life of all API developers!
I’ll post on the respective threads to point to the new wiki article and will give time to everyone to get used to the new system, possibly providing some feedback. The only sticky that will ultimately remain active on the subforum will be the “API Development Plans” one.
All the API wiki articles will be in a specific namespace that can only be edited by particular groups of wiki editors. So, if you’re interested in editing and maintaining some of these articles, you’ll have to create an account on the wiki and then leave a message on this page: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Guild_Wars_2_Wiki:Requests_for_API_editorship
Then one of the wiki bureaucrat (or me or Cliff) will put you in the proper group.
Please note that the forum will remain the only place for discussing the API, the wiki should only be used for updating the API articles or discussing their formatting/organization.
You can let me know here if you have any question or comment.
Thanks!
I think what you’re seeing is a community that is very excited about your product (both the game and the API).
We understand this, yet we don’t want to set a precedent for “call out threads” on the API Development subforum. It has been to date a great subforum and everyone has to accept that activity here can be up and down, based on API changes and generally the amount of questions API application developers have. So no reason to create activity where none is needed. We won’t take any moderation action but encourage you to not create “fillers” on this subforum, to keep its focus on actual development needs (as explained in this sticky post
Thanks for your understanding!
FYI, and in case you didn’t see it, we posted the sticky here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/community/api/Welcome-to-the-API-Development-subforum/first#post2469979
We’ve discussed opening a subforum for this but decided against it as it adds just another one, and there are already a lot of them already. If there’s a high demand for such a subforum (not in the API Development subforum but on the Fan-generated Content subforum), we may reconsider. But until then, please follow these rules. Thank you!
This subforum is a discussion forum for developers of applications that use the Guild Wars 2 API (or want to use it). You’re free to ask questions, discuss topics and make suggestions relative to the Guild Wars 2 API as long as they’re of a technical nature. Whether you’re an amateur or experienced developer, we encourage you to participate in this subforum and help in any way you can. We hope that you’ll find here a home for all your API Development needs and create an awesome Guild Wars 2 application based on the API!
The following sticky threads will help you get an idea of how this specific subforum works:
This forum is NOT intended to be a place for general discussion about the API or the applications using it, or to promote your API-based program or website (unless it’s only intended at API application developers). Application developers and users can create threads in the Community Creations subforum.
(edited by Moderator)
Hey AdelphiA.9287,
We’ll publish soon a sticky in this subforum to better explain the rules, but here’s basically the answer to your question in two parts:
Let us know if you have questions or comments.
Thanks for supporting the GW2 API!
Hi,
The API Development subforum is not intended for general discussions about the API, but rather technical discussions about how to use the API for developers of applications. You can still discuss this topic in other relevant subforums.
We’re working on a message that will be put in a sticky thread in this subforum to better explain this and help this subforum focus on helping application developers.
Thanks for your understanding.

Well, not sure what you want the forum to do. Go protest on the wiki contributor’s talk page, if you don’t like the contributor’s map. The wiki is only comprised of information contributed by users, just like you and me. Or use the dulfy site, instead. =)
I think it’s really useful that people come to the forums to talk about the wikis, as most are not really aware of what’s going on on the wikis or how they actually work. This is a great opportunity for players who know about them or even editors (thanks smiley.1438) to spread the word.
May be Willowleaf.5721 wants to explain in detail the issue? Could it be the fact that the previous revision of the map had waypoints and other indicators? See http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/archive/b/bd/20130627180219%21Gendarran_Fields_map.jpg
Hi everyone,
We’re aware of this behavior for the Dragon Bash meta-achievement and are looking into it. Thanks for your patience !
Hi everyone,
We’re aware of the issue and have been working on a fix that we hope to push at the beginning of next week.
As we’ve seen a few messages from players saying they didn’t get the achievement even after watching the fireworks, here are some useful information:
Hope this helps.
Hi everyone,
For your information, recipes in the mystic forge containing the Holo Risen Knight, including crafting the Holo Colosuss, have been disabled to prevent an unintended mystic forge issue. We will message as soon as this is resolved and the Holo Colossus can be made in the forge again.
i did get both chests (the one on the floor and the one which looks like daily dragon chests) but no achievement
some other players got the achievement…did i do anythign wrong?
because obviously i took part in the event enough for both chests to appear…
but why dont i get the achievement for killing karka queen then? :/
This is the wrong thread for discussing this bug, please always check the Game Bugs subforum first as there’s generally a thread about these kind of issues. In this case:

Thanks for reporting the bugs in the Game Bugs subforum, where there’s already a thread on the topic: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/No-credit-killing-crazed-karka-queen/

We’re aware of the bug and are investigating the issue. Thanks for your patience.
Hi everyone,
Since this thread has no real topic to discuss that is within what is defined in the Code of Conduct, I’m going to close it. Please make sure you provide constructive feedback and/or participate in threads respectfully.
Thanks.
Hi,
Thanks Dramen Maidria.1034 for proposing this. I stickied this thread so that it can benefit more players and everyone should feel free to offer help with dungeon coaching.
Hi everyone,
The bonfires were brought back in-game with today’s patch.

Flame & Frost: Molten Weapons Facility
Structured Player vs. Player
General
When will Custom Arenas be out of Beta.
We have not set a date for the end of Beta. We want to get feedback from players on usability and shake out any bugs before opening it up to the general public.
We are conducting a small closed Beta. Who can participate?
Can I play on a Custom Arena even if I don’t own one?
Yes, you can play on a Custom Arena that is owned by another player provided that player has made their Arena open or have given you the password or they have extended you or your guild membership the Arena. If you really like playing on that Custom Arena consider supporting it by adding time to it with a time token.
Do I have to pay to play on a Custom Arena?
No, anyone can join a server that has no password or as long as you know the password. Only the Custom Arena owner has to pay a gem cost. Other players can also add time to a server to help contribute to the cost.
If I already have a Custom Arena Starter Kit, from when they were briefly available in the gem store, can I use it during the Custom Arena Beta period?
Yes, though keep in mind that we might not put additional time tokens up for sale until Custom Arenas exit Beta.
What can I configure on a Custom Arena?
Can I make my Custom Arena private?
You may password protect your Custom Arena to only allow those that know the password to enter. You may also set the reserved slots to the maximum which will only allow members to join the Custom Arenas
How much will Custom Arenas cost?
We have not revealed Custom Arena pricing at this time but there will be an initial set up fee that comes with a month of time. Additional time will be available via time tokens in the gem store.
How do I add time to a Custom Arena?
Time Tokens will be available from the gem store. Each time token adds one day of time to a Custom Arena. You can use time tokens to add time to your Custom Arena from the Custom Arena configuration interface. You can also use time tokens to add time to any Custom Arena that you are currently playing on.
I can add time to any Custom Arena?! Really?!
Yes, a Custom Arena is a kernel of community. What better way to show your appreciation for the community that you enjoy playing with the most than to support it by extending the time on it.
Can I own more than one Custom Arena?
Yes but keep in mind that time needs to be added to each Custom Arena individually.
When I run out of time is my Custom Arena deleted?
There is a grace period before the Custom Arena is deleted. During this time your Custom Arena will still exist but no one will be allowed to play on it. If time is not added before this period expires the Custom Arena will be deleted.
Why should I own a Custom Arena?

Our teams investigated the bug that occurred after Wednesday’s maintenance and is causing some Achievements to display incorrect numbers. We will be deploying a fix for this bug in the build for Flame and Frost: The Gathering Storm, coming at the end of this month. Thanks a lot for your patience!
Hi everyone,
This thread is quickly descending into off-topic discussions so I’m going to close it. We’re continuing our investigation into players’ reports of potential issues with item drops. We will give an update about the results of these investigations as soon as we’ve gathered all the information.
Thanks.
Please make sure that your system clock is set to the correct time, according to where you live. This may allow you to see the right daily achievements (which are for today: Daily Veteran Slayer, Daily Dodger, Daily Crafter, Daily Gatherer, Daily Events). We’ll continue to investigate this bug and are working on a fix for this, but we have no ETA on when we’ll be able to deploy it.
