Oh, if you really want to have fun in PvE, get a group together of all engineers running turrets, necros running minions, and then one ranger with all spirits. Good times, man.

Small army of minions much?

Though I am not as in love with conditions as Bhawb is heh… I love both of my 80 necromancers. Yes, I loved one so much I had to make another! I prefer power builds personally, but, as was stated, the sheer variety of builds is just awesome!!

Nemesis’ stuff is very good… he does a better job at explaining various builds and why he chooses them than most people. If there is something about his builds/way of playing that doesn’t work for you or someone else… specify it instead of just using a blanket “this sucks” statement without giving details. People who are trying to help out need feedback that is constructive if they are going to continue.

I have a few guides up on GW2 Guru…. one of them as close to 100,000 views and pages of discussion. It is constructive discussion and has helped me refine that particular build for people and helped a lot out. Those of us who put these guides and tutorials together do it on our own time and trying to be helpful… why not do us a favor and try to help us back if you see something you don’t like?

I like the build… I have a couple of guides up on GW2Guru pve forums for necros as well. The second one I started yesterday after watching this video and was interested in doing a more glass cannon build.

Difference in mine… I didn’t go 30 in to Soul Reaping only 20. Now, I could see maybe going 25 and getting Strength of Undeath so you can manage your life force to keep that 5% damage increase, but the last 5 points I didn’t see as crucial to the build. I also didn’t go in to Blood Magic… went Curses for precision and some better utility major traits for various encounters. If you are truly doing glass cannon, then siphon health isn’t going to be helpful to your overall damage and the health you gain back won’t save you very often in FotM. What are your thoughts on that?

plain and simple tribal looking.

I want tribal set for my necro but they are nowhere to be found in PvE

It’s in Orr from the Karma vendors… look through the vendors in Malchor’s Leap. It’s called Tactician.

I do switch to targeted wells sometimes in dungeons, but on boss fights they are nearly useless unless the boss doesn’t move at all. My major traits and utilities are always changing depending on the fight.

I just realized what I did on the Might duration… I was looking at notes on a boon duration setup I was working on. This increased the duration of Might from BiP from 12s to ~21s (I forget how the rounding works). Traited BiP has a 24s cooldown so.. 3s. Unfortunately it doesn’t work with this build since you have to go all the way down Death Magic as well as picking up various runes to get up to 80% boon duration. NruJaC on GW2Guru was doing this… looked interesting so I wanted to play around with it… got them all mixed up in my head lol.

Yea, the second one is a work in progress somewhat.

Blood is Power I chose for the Might stacks. I have Master of Corruption traited to reduce the time between the stacks falling off and being reapplied to only 3s. I also am in and out of Death Shroud using Life Transfer and Life Blast (also traited to apply Vulnerability and Might). The goal is as much uptime on Might as possible which significantly boosts your damage.

The signet is flexible and I switch it out depending on what I am doing. I will use Well of Corruption for AOE and Wall if no other class is there that can apply vulnerability faster (rare though…). Signet just gives a nice static boost to power if it is going to be a long boss fight where other utilities won’t do much good and/or the boss moves too much for wells to be of much use beyond maybe 1 tick.

Just comparing with yours… I don’t go with targeted wells unless I am actually going to be ranged with a staff. I put my well down and keep them inside the well by kiting the mob within it (obviously not going to work in pvp heh). I also rarely go for weakness. It’s more defensive to me, and useful yes, but I am looking for damage output and not survivability. It is only a 25% chance and would be the only survivability item you have… you could pick up Spectral Attunement since you are using spectral skills and gain life force faster through that.

Using the Dry Bones shoulders and Acolyte chest/pants right now with the Bone Mask that you start the game with. Have it colored with graphite, fog, and scarlet.. looks pretty good until I get my Arah finished.

I have a couple of builds that I use at the moment.

My first is a dagger/warhorn PVE build focused around wells and vampirism traits. I posted the build long ago on the Guru site and the thread has almost 100,000 view and a lot of discussion so far.

The second is one I created after watching some of Nem’s videos and his glass cannon build. It is fairly new and still working on it. There might be ones nearly identical to it out there, so if you run something like it I would love some feedback!!

I have to agree on a lot of points… especially with our lack of survivability in many situations. It never made sense to me why warriors, for example, could pick up a signet skill that gave as much passive health regen as it does. As a necromancer, I feel that our health regen abilities should be slightly better than others and not have to trait for them. It just seems to fit the class more…

However, I am not much of an alt player and I am leveling my second necromancer since I wanted a Charr so much. I will stick with it and hope for the best!

I created a second necromancer (yes, I know…) to complement my level 80 asuran one. The Charr necromancers just look great when geared up! We all know that a lot of the robes and stuff look… silly… on a Charr, but there are several sets that actually look great. The Berserker armor looks really amazing on Charr. This is from a post on GW2 Guru of a Charr necro:

How to become "Centurion of the Blood Legion and Warmaster of the vigil"?

So far the only titles in the game are PVP-related or HoM-related. There are no story/achievement titles that I have come across yet. I have completed the Asura story up to level 80 with Order of Whispers.

The “titles” given to you are just a story thing.. they have no bearing on your gameplay. The only benefit you have is access to armor/weapons for the faction you chose…. Vigil, Priory, or Whispers. The vendors are located in their home bases and the gear is level 80 and costs between 1-5g.

My opinion: the Black Citadel is so bad to explore.

On the second and third levels there are large, circular doors with guards flanking them from their respective legions. Ash/Blood are on the second level and Iron is on the third. The Ash/Blood areas are called “Tribune Headquarters” I think, and the Iron is called “Imperator Core”. That one has two POIs in it actually so don’t miss it.

Takarazuka.3025

I do just fine as condition solo with no one else playing with me. I farm in Cursed Shore a lot and group up a few Risen and kite them around easily using wells/marks. My stats are vitality/power/condition and I am doing toughness on accessories to help with taking more hits.

My Necromancer Feedback

Posted by: Takarazuka.3025

Takarazuka.3025

I cannot speak for PvP as I have only done a little WvW on mine (level 80 condition-build). I never expected necromancer to be a superior class in any one area…. we are more jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none. In PVE we have the ability to spec for support for groups (through constant condition removal on allies, extra healing, and boon application), debuffs (through vulnerability stacking and area blindness combos), or sustained damage on targets through power/precision builds or even condition ones, but it isn’t burst damage by any means.

This may just not be the kind of class you want though… I know that guardian excels much better in some areas and sounds like what it might be you’re looking for.

Rampager would be ideal for the dagger/warhorn you are using. Dagger has some decent damage on it and would be improved greatly by power/precision. If you go that route the Tier 1 minor trait in curses may proc more often, but it’s still only a 66% chance.

Staff & Axe/Dagger Condition Damage Discussion!

in Necromancer

Posted by: Takarazuka.3025

Takarazuka.3025

Like Hadri stated…. axe is a poor choice if you’re going condition build. Scepter/dagger has better synergy with Scepter #1 added bleeds/poison on cast as well as #3 doing damage based on conditions on target.

While I, personally, do not use Spite or Epidemic since I am pure Wells… it is a very viable option. Make sure to utilize the combo from wells by using Staff #4 to trigger area blindess while you kite.

I also do not stack precision since scepter and staff have very poor damage scaling and it is not your primary source of damage anyways. I use the Carrion stats for my gear and stack vitality instead since we will be taking hits at some point due to low mobility when Grasping Dead is on cooldown.
