Seems to be a bug with the Adept Reaper achievement. I went about halfway through the elite spec for it but never got the achievement and GS skin. Tested out on my warrior and worked fine. May have had something to do with being inside Heart of the Mists when I was doing it.
My new necromancer… 3rd I have leveled to 80, but the other two were deleted long ago. I am pleased with it.
Then why do you have to own more than 3 tags in order to receive a refund?
Because you would have spent more than the 300g for the account-wide tag coming next month.
Twitter post…. https://twitter.com/GuildWars2/status/502133727343169538
Yeap!! 300g will unlock all colors!
I have no use for a commander tag, but I will chime in with agreement that the tag should be 300g unlock with ALL colors unlocked and interchangeable. God only knows what they were thinking when they first came up with the 300g per color idea, but the blog today vaguely hints that they will all unlock after the 300g purchase.
Yea, I regret deleting my headstart character. Poor decision on my part really… oh well. I come and go from the game so often, that I barely notice the gifts really and they don’t impact me much. Only have about 1k hours played total since release.
Ah… then that alleviates my confusion and OPs question!! You get it on the anniversary of when you MADE your character. I can’t remember which toon I was logged in on, but obviously it was one I made just before the second anniversary of the game.
Oh regarding the age… my original headstart necro has since been deleted. I decided charr was just a bad choice in my book for a necro heh. Oldest one right now is a warrior and I will check him tonight on age and the birthday thing.
Not sure… I always thought the “birthday gift” was for when you first started playing. Not for the birthday of the character itself. The text for the it says:
Congratulations! It’s the anniversary of your account activation, and in recognition of your last year of heroic deeds in Tyria, here is a gift from us to you. Thanks for playing Guild Wars 2!
So… anniversary of account activation or anniversary of character creation? I thought I had it all figured out and now I am confused ha!
Really? Headtstart birthdays haven’t begun yet surely? Certainly not on my account, and my first toon was in from headstart day 1. I’m fairly certain 2nd birthday gifts go out around the 25th Aug?
I am not at home at the moment to grab a screenshot of my mailbox, but yea… mine came to me yesterday. Headstart was on Aug 25th, but maybe they glitched something? Not sure… I mean not like any of it is useful at all other than the booster unless you start a new character and wanna insta bump to 20.
Not beta…. early access. Sorry lol!
You get it on the anniversary of the day you you created your first character in game. I got mine yesterday since I was in early access. Same stuff as last year… mini pet, birthday booster, experience scroll for new characters up to level 30, etc. Nothing amazing, but the 24-hour booster is nice for faster leveling.

I was basing that off assumption from what you see around Ascalon and in the Black Citadel. You see a lot of Blood/Iron Legion soldiers and such, but (and I will check again tonight to be sure) you never see any Ash Legion soldiers. Only assassins or infiltrators and the like. I may have worded it wrong slightly, and could have said they do not have a conventional army like Blood/Iron, but a more stealth-type military. They may have a territory, but I doubt they have a full-fledged fortress city like the other legions given the nature of their legion. Pure speculation of course from all sides since we never have been given much information on them.

This is the main website for tracking events. It is dependent on people doing the event and then updating, but it is usually fairly accurate.
So the invasions are at a reduced rate now… has anyone seen them come up yet or how we are notified? I hadn’t seen anything yet and was curious.
/snip10
The problem is that a lot of people already completed it and got their 10… and now it was reset and can do it again I believe. So they get 20 this month.
I just logged in again and it was there now… random delay? Oh well…
If the programmers are afraid to screw something up even worse than fine… don’t fix it. But people who completed the monthly already… is it back at 0/4 for them and they can complete it again? If so, that is kind of unfair to those of us who didn’t do it in 3 days (seeing as how we have 30 to do so and shouldn’t be expected to complete it instantly.).
All existing players have been sent mail with enough Essence of Luck to increase their account magic find to 20%.
I have yet to receive this item in the mail. Are they coming out in batches or is it bugged?
No one actually knows where the Ash Legion actually originates from since they are mostly spies and assassins… they don’t have the same kind of territorial claims that the Iron Legion (Ascalon) and Blood Legion (east and north of Blazeridge Mountains) have.
Ash Legion most likely has a hidden base of operations somewhere in the far north near Blood Legion territory. Since they do not field a standing army like Iron and Blood, they have no need of a territory of their own really.
This really didn’t need another thread as there are about 5,000 of them as it is…. that said they are not “pets” they are minions and are not controllable and never will be. Minions are utilities and are to be used as such with their special abilities.
Will Asc. crafting be time-gated per account?
in Super Adventure Box: Back to School
Posted by: Takarazuka.3025
Some of the mats required to craft ascended weapons are account bound and the rest of the mats require 500 crafting and are made combining lower tiers of mats; please god don’t make it 250 ectos and 250 x mat to get the T7 level.

If this is true and the Black Citadel isn’t the actual racial capital, then I look forward to seeing the others. This is what ANet should be doing, rather than making more 2-week events.
We may at some point… Only a portion of ANet is working on the Living Story -4 teams of about 70 people total. The rest are working on other projects such as future content, class balance, UI improvements and so on. We just see the fruits of the LS teams’ labor more often since it is on a 2 week schedule and the rest of the teams release their projects as they complete them and ready for release.
On topic now…. The closest thing the Charr probably have to a “racial capital” is some sort of fortress that the Khan Ur used as his command center. There might have been a village or something outside of it, similar to a medieval castle, but it’s most likely not an actual city. I would very much like to see the Blood and Ash Legions fortress capitals though!!
Since we are on the topic of minion skins… can we please get a different look for the Shadow Fiend and Flesh Golem? Personally I dislike both of them a great deal…
Eh… if he wants to play it that way, why not? Some people do not feel comfortable doing zerker GC builds or don’t like condition. I have run a siphon/absorb build before and found it to be a lot of fun. Sometimes it is more about doing what you enjoy than what might be min/max perfection.
Ah, missed that part where you said you were focused more on a tanky build…
SO tanky with oomph huh… Rune of the Fighter (power, toughness, and gain might on heal) is probably going to be your best bet since it gives power and toughness which we lack overall and gives you Might whenever you use Consume Conditions. You could also go Dolyak (vitality, toughness, and HP regen) for an even more tank-like build. It will really boost your survivability but takes away from some of your damage.
I saw you mentioned the Runes of Exuberance… I did quick napkin math, but if you had full PTV gear and 30 points in Blood Magic, you are only getting ~50 power from the 6th slotted Rune. I cannot pull up my spreadsheet at the moment to plug in all the numbers to get it exact, but I believe that is correct. We already have a fairly high HP pool and, I am assuming you are doing Knight or Valkyrie armor or something with Vitality on it, then I would personally lean towards stacking some more toughness to mitigate damage.
Sigils would stay the same.. there are no “tanky” sigils really. Sigil of Blood is an option as it gives 30% chance to lifesteal, but your crit chance is going to be low so the overall chances of this proccing are diminished.
You cant tank in gw2, so making tanky builds for pve is pointless.
No you cannot tank, but I don’t think that is what he meant. He is looking for a build that can soak up damage and siphon. Perfectly doable.

Superior Rune of the Scholar is one of the more popular runes at the moment. Power, +% crit damage, and 10% more damage when HP is above 90%. They are a bit pricey though, but if you have the money then they are definitely worth it. You could also socket ruby orbs for some nice static stat increase.
Sigils… I consider those highly subjective and depends on what you want. There are theorycrafters who want to min/max and go for the perfect sigil setup, but I say go for what you want. Sigil of Bloodlust (10 power per kill max 25), Sigil of Force (5% damage), Sigil of Strength (30% chance to apply Might for 10s on crit)… those are some choices, but there are a lot of them: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sigil
I have done some herb runs in the past when I noticed price spikes on the TP, but the RNG involved in which nodes spawn and what you get from the nodes makes that very annoying.
You can always hit up the various “farms” in game that have larger numbers of the items in them. There are always multiple units of nodes at each one and it resets every 23 hours. Not steady income, but if you are in the area then you can always grab them and sell if you aren’t going to use them.
I do go out and gather, but that is just me… I am fully aware that it is not “time efficient” but I am always out doing something and gather while I am out and about. I don’t try to maximize my playtime and just relax and enjoy myself. I think if more people played the game casually and didn’t worry so much about doing everything as quick and efficient as possible.. usually stressing them out in the process.. they would have a lot more fun.
The moment I start treating a game like an assembly line where I have to X number of things in Y time in order to meet a goal of max gold per hour (or whatever goal you have) then I quit the game bc it has turned in to a job.
Never anger Bhawb over his minions…. he loves them a lot!!
Just give me cloth armor other than the cultural armor that looks better on Charr and I will be a happy kitten…
6/10 – Looks more like an elementalist or something with the helm and weapons, but I kinda see what you were going for.
Mine (I hate the gloves fyi lol):
Yea sounds like she has a build made specifically around fears… I haven’t played it but I know it is pretty strong.
Someone mentioned the other on Gw2Guru that Life Transfer seemed to be ticking for a lot more Life Force than it normally did. He was able to quickly regen his LF bar and go back to town on mobs. Though, from what you said, she was out of DS and then regened her LF quickly and went back in or what? I may just not be seeing what you meant.
She definitely has Terror and Master of Terror so it’s going to be a pain to deal with those. Unless you have a dagger offhand to transfer, you have a well and Consume… and that’s about it (unless I am forgetting something). I do not really pvp so no real suggestions for you there other than just being smart about when to use your condition cleanses.
Remember that she is built around keeping conditions on you and fearing you causing a lot of damage and using her DS to absorb as much of your attacks as possible. Try stunning her when she uses LT to stop that and put it on CD to keep her from regening her LF. Sorry I cannot give a lot more advice… other necros that PVP can probably give better on that end
If you feel comfortable with active movement and can manage DS to absorb attacks, you can just go zerker for the most damage. But if you think you want some padding there and don’t mind killing a bit slower you can go Valkyrie (more HP) or Knight’s (more Toughness)… or mix it up a little. Nothing says you have to go one stat combo on every piece of gear.
I would suggest a well/siphon build or MM for leveling depending on your particular playstyle. Condition builds aren’t generally great for leveling in my opinion, but others may have a different view on that.
Here is a well/siphon build you can try out. I used this one my second necro that I leveled:
http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=;00;3kHFJ0D47I-K0;9;4T9-T-18B5;314B;9;8FScFE
For a MM build here is one I tossed together… someone else may have a better one or some suggestions. I have yet to do a MM build since I am not a fan of that playstyle:

Try this out:

30/10/0/30/0 Ground targeted wells with siphon on them. 30 in to Spite for Close to Death and you can use the Flesh Golem with 30% increased attack. It is not going to be a max dps build, but it will work for what you seem to be wanting. I run this sometimes and it works well. Your wells chew through mobs and you generate plenty of health from it.
Hmm idk Doomfrost, not totally feeling it with the colors and the shoulders. It is far too bright and “clean” looking for Charr. Maybe if you changed the shoulders as you mentioned and went with some darker/neutral colors it would look better. What class are you though? That might give a bit more help to what you are going for.
Here is my necromancer. I am currently working on changing out the gloves for something other than the Flame Legion ones. Chest/pants are are also Flame Legion, but they are the best looking ones I have found, but I had the flaming tail graphic sigh
Nice man! Looking good
To me, axe was never meant to be a primary weapon that you constantly auto attack with. I use it as a burst tool with Ghastly Claws and then supplement that with Life Blast for 5s during Fury uptime, wells, or minions if you go MM. It’s also a great AOE tool since you can hit up to 5 targets and gain Retaliation equal to the recharge time of the skill if you hit all 5.
Just remember that you don’t want to sit and auto attack… it’s not that kind of weapon. It’s meant to be used in tandem with your other abilities that do more damage (like wells or minions) or help boost your big hitting Ghastly Claws.
Thanks for the responses. I’m new to Necro, just playing around with all the options and trying to find something to suit my playstyle. So far I’m planning on:
10 (VI), 20 (V, IX), 0, 20 (II,IX), 10 (VI) with scepter/dagger typically and staff for heavy AoE
I have 10 points I’m undecided on.
The basic idea is to be able to jump in and out of DS relatively often, to provide boons and other effects, with Wells and other AoE to tag mobs. I play mostly open world PvE and have plenty of events in my future so just trying to build something all around survivable with plenty of AoE and fun until I gear out and decide to play more seriously.
I’m very partial to all around utility and survivability, which makes something like Deathly Invigoration interesting to me, even if its not amazing. Also, if Reaper’s Precision has no ICD, with Wells, it should generate quite a bit of Life Force?
If you are doing open world PVE then put at least 5 more points in to Curses for Target the Weak. You will gain a substantial damage increase since there will be a lot of conditions for you to benefit from.
You could throw the last 5 points in there as well and pick up Weakening Shroud, Lingering Curses (probably a better choice since you are going scepter and condition), or Hemophilia. If you are intent on keeping Reaper’s Precision then just be sure you use the right gear to get your precision high enough to make it benefit you… Rampager is one that comes to mind that would work for this.
Drop Transfusion… Pick up Ritual Mastery or Vampiric Precision with your crit being above 50%. Transfusion does a pretty paltry heal and its only on nearby allies, not yourself. Yes, it is a utility which you are trying to go for, but it doesn’t heal for much and people don’t take much damage in open world PVE and if they do its usually a one shot deal and they are dead. You’ll get better utility from reduced cooldown wells or more life siphon.
AFAIK There is no internal cooldown on RP. It is just a flat 33% chance on critical. It’s not the most amazing trait really since you would need a very high crit chance to get a decent proc rate from it. I would only get it if you cannot justify something better like Weakening Shroud or Hemophilia (which I doubt you can).
The formula for the heal I believe is Healing Power * 0.32. It’s not very big either way really.
I kept turning my volume up thinking something with my sound was broken. I think I am indifferent to it really… the old sounds WERE really loud, but I ignored them. Now I just have to remember that everything is okay and my sound is still working.
They gave us visibility of our boons/conditions/states in Death Shroud which was a big thing people have been wanting for awhile.
Outside of that, I feel that knowledge of what necromancers are here for and what we do as a class is continuously evolving. We aren’t the red-headed stepchild we were when the game released but we have a long ways to go still. Those of us who have learned how to utilize functions of our class and integrate them in to our builds, without being of the mindset that we should be doing the insane damage of a pure zerker warrior or something, are always finding new tricks and things we can do with necros.
I love and am very happy with my necro and I know a lot of others who are as well. I think the people that are unhappy have just not found the ways to play the class that work well and expect something else.
Minions work fine now (99% of the time) if you know how they work…. to trigger them to attack you have to start with auto attack and they trigger on the second cycle of your auto attack. Golem still gets a little funky sometimes, but overall they work fine.
I was considering something like this for Guru but in text format… I hate doing videos lol. Nice job Chips!
As has been said, this is more of a “bunker” build than a dps build, but it would work. I would actually gear PVT on this with your armor and do condition on trinkets/weapons. You have bleeds coming from BiP and Dagger#5 and 20 Curses so that would warrant some investment in condition, but since you are melee PVT would be beneficial to the bunker-style build this is geared towards.
If you did a full condition set it might have some decent damage, but not investing any in to Spite kills your wells damage so you have to focus your damage elsewhere.
I would have to go back and see early videos of Dark Path, but I don’t recall it ever being a targeted teleport (of course I hardly remember Saturday so who knows). It suffers from the same issue all magical projectiles do… just too kitten slow like emikochan said.
Agreed on stability…. having to go 30 in to SR just to get stability in Death Shroud sucks. We also have it in Lich Form, but popping a 180s cooldown for stability isn’t exactly a plus to me. Maybe others see that different… but I don’t.
Your crit is a bit low to use Reaper’s Precision. If you are using Death Shroud often, pick up Terror to add a damage tick to your Fear. Could also do Weakening Shroud for utility purposes… Weakness is very nice.
Are you go in and out of Death Shroud often and what is your goal with that? You could just go with a 30/25/0/0/15 or 30/15/0/0/25 (depending on DS heavy you want to go) and grab one of the two damage boosters from 25 points in one of the trees.
Seems like you’d run out of names pretty fast when you just blow them the heck up every few seconds, lol.
I never claimed Mesmers were intelligent… just insane. It’s all that purple and the constant shattering of butterfly people around them.
I don’t see how mesmer illusions even come close to being pets in any stretch of the imagination.
I bet they name them… and give them treats or something…
