okay i edited my post to clarify this mess better.
Oh my god. It is not even a carrot! It is just another tier. Just like greens, and blues, and whites, Its progression.
Look at that 1,900 reply thread. I am sure that those lot that are sad are just people who always supported no gera treadmill.
The problem is, all they saw was the complaint about wanting gear progression.
Never did they see the many people content with how it was.
Bacause the amount of QQ’ers overflowed the amount of people that didnt want gear treadmill. Every one person that didnt want gear treadmill i saw like 8 that wanted it.
Can’t fault a community when it ultimately falls on the developer to sift through legit complaints. Also, the community didn’t completely go against the manifesto of the game they only released 2 months ago.
3 months. there is a difference.
This is NOT breaking their promise. If people actually use logic, its just another tier. Just like Blues, Just like Greens, Just like yellows, and just like oranges. It is NOT a gear treadmill since you dont get better gear after this. It is just like legendaries being the best. Now its ascended thats the best. It is just more variety, not a broken promise.

He expects nobody to post here when he makes a PUBLIC THREAD… society. If you only want a certain person/people to see this then send a private message. If you want arenanet to see this send a ticket. Dont make a public thread then complain that ppl are responding.
You have a really good imagination.
I have a weird imagination. :P
Time for my favorite part, elite skills
1. Time Shift: Slow all of the enemy’s cast time, animations, and cooldown in the target area. (Radius of Time Shift: 450. Duration: 5 seconds. Cooldown: 180 seconds. Range: 1200.)

(Cooldown: 180 seconds. poison/bleed lasts 2 seconds.)

Okay, okay, i know this seems a little bit OP, but im sure arenanet will tweak and nerf it IF they accept it (which they most likely wont). Before you guys start posting that its a horrible idea and it doesnt fit the lore/too much like other classes, blah blah blah, i just want to say that I did this FOR FUN. So please give your input on how you like/dislike my idea
I will add underwater combat and traits later. I hope you enjoyed the walls of texts

First of all I want all of you to know that THERE ARE MORE THAN ONE PART TO THIS THREAD. Thank you. Okay, i know it is too early for new classes atm but I still love throwing out ideas. This is my idea for a new class. I hope you agree
. (INC LONG THREAD, IF YOU HATE WALLS OF TEXT, PLEASE MAKE YOUR WAY TO THE CLOSEST EXIT)
The Dominator:
Background: A mysterious old figure has shown up and has been teaching few people the art of the Dominator for years, but now he has shown his teachings to the public and everybody that wants to know. He traveled all over Tyria teaching people willing to know the art of the Dominator and now there are groups of well trained soldiers that have special abilities now. The Dominator is a light armored class. They are strong on control/damage, but not as strong on support. The main elements of the dominator is force, light, dark, levitation, water, and ice. Sadly, the dominator has the 2nd lowest amount of health and armor but their damage and control makes up for it. The Dominator has a few unique weapon types as well. This class is a variant of necromancer, guardian, elementalist, and new elements. They lack in melee, but are great in medium/long range. The Dominator Its combo fields mostly consist of light, dark, confusing, corrosive, water, and a new one, force.
Force combo finisher effects: If it is triggered by a whirl (for example, Whirling Wrath), then bolts fly out of the whirl combo that staggers enemies if the bolt hits the enemy. (Stagger means that they will be interrupted and have a .5 sec delay in skills.) If it is triggered by a leap (for example, Leap of Faith), then you get a 3 sec aura that gives the enemy 4 stacks of vulnerability for 8 seconds any time they hit you. If it is triggered by a Blast (for example, Mighty Blow), then all enemies near the combo field gets pushed back 400 range (maximum of 10 enemies can be pushed back at a time). If it is triggered by a Projectile (for example, arrows. lol), then the enemy that got hit will be staggered.
Weapons:
MH: focus/scepter/orb
OH: focus/orb/sword
2H: staff
1-5 skills depending on weapon:
MH Focus:
1. (Chain 1): Push. Focus and stagger your enemy from a medium range with your mind. (Chain 2): Push (x2). Stagger your enemy twice from a medium range with your mind. (Chain 3): Mind Jab. Finish the combo with a powerful attack to the enemy’s mind, giving yourself one stack of retaliation for 1.5 seconds as well. (All 3 chains are range 900)
2. Chilling Intent: Erupt an ice spike from underground hitting up to 5 enemies in the target area, chilling foes for 2 1/2 seconds. (Range 900, Cooldown 7 1/2 seconds)
3. Dark Mists: Lay down a wall that will apply fear and poison for enemies that walk through it. (Combo field Dark, 12 second cooldown, Range 900)
———————————————————————————————————————————————————————-
OH Focus:
4. Debris Storm (Channel): Use your levitation powers to channel a storm of debris around you, blinding and bleeding foes every 1 1/2 second they stay in the storm. (Combo Field: Smoke, 20 second cooldown, storm lasts 6 seconds if you channel the whole duration, Radius 250, Blind/bleed lasts 6 seconds.)
5. Brainwash: Connect to your enemy’s mind, brainwashing them to think that their allies are their enemies, making them attack their allies. (Cooldown 30 seconds, Range 900, Brainwash duration 5 seconds. In PvP, this skill will only last 3 seconds and while brainwashed you will only use auto attack to your allies.)
———————————————————————————————————————————————————————-
MH Scepter:
1. Debris: Levitate debris and throw it at your enemy at rapid speeds, causing one stack of bleeding. (0 sec CD, bleed lasts 6 seconds, 3/4 sec cast time, Range 1200)
2. Flood (Channel): Suffocate your enemy by flooding all of their air passages with water, causing blindness every second during the channel. (CD 10 seconds, channel lasts 3 seconds, blindness lasts 3 seconds, Range 1200)
3. Force Bubble: Focus your mind to create a force bubble that pushes back enemies every time they hit you and gives them 3 stacks of vulnerability. (CD 16 seconds, bubble lasts 4 seconds, vulnerability lasts 6 seconds, knockback 350 range, cast time 1 1/2 seconds)
———————————————————————————————————————————————————————-
(End of part 1, please look at next post for part 2)
I dont understand your point. You literally just pointed out how players EARN their money that is it worth that much to clothe 30 whatever people. They can spend their money however they want, i dont understand what u are trying to say.
All I want is largos, they fit all of whats in the checklist to make a new race that isnt silly. Mutiny also said some of these items in the checklist.
What you need for a race:
“Fitting” armor light/medium/heavy. If you can picture a largo in light, medium, and heavy armor that fits and doesnt look that silly, then thats a good thing, and they can. Check.
Animations can match the body structure.
For example: A quaggan doing death blossom will be silly and not work. A largo doing death blossom will fit and not look silly at all. Check.
(Like mutiny said) A “government” or branch system, and not tribal. The Concordat of Tethyos Houses. Check.
A “main” city. Check.
Not an enemy race (unless arenanet adds a 2nd set of races that are “Evil”.) They are neutral and do not attack innocent races on sight. Check.
Appropiate Size/structure. Check.
Shall i go on?
Bubbles is the reason we have those kitten Krait everywhere annoying us and making underwater fights a nightmare. So yes I would like to kill him.
He is? OoooOOOOooo I feel my quaggan fury unleashing! I dont like it
Bubbles is impacting tyria, just not the part we are introduced to. I dont remember the site i found this on but someone said he is near the middle of tyria (Sea of Sorrows)
But it isnt tons of skills at once. Its a SECOND set that will REPLACE your first set if you do not like the first set of skills. You will still have the same amount of skills (10 in total)
Pretty doesnt mean lollipops and rainbows. Pretty means everything in the “Theme” of the area blends all together and compiled it is a beautiful scene. Which is what I think of orr, it is beautiful, in a dark way since its full of risen. Im sorry, but not all maps can be lollipops and rainbows for you, if you want that, go to brisban or caledon.
Imagine a quaggan doing that dagger 3 skill… yeah, sorry, but it aint gonn’ work >.<
i wanna catch exotic fish in brisban wildlands
Oh yeh yaks bend is rlly good, im there atm.
I dont remember >.<, but i found it in beta weekend so it must not be far into the asura areas. I know that it is one of those cube-like houses/labs
it not one-weekend. its a permanent map.
I really… really… REALLY hope that new Sea of Sorrows map has, guess who? BUBBLES! (If you do not know what bubbles is, it is the underwater elder dragon that arenanet had problems naming so the forums called the underwater elder dragon bubbles). Anyone else want to kill bubbles?
I know this topic has been brought up in other threads, and I just wanted to create a thread about this since it is commonly talked about in other threads that arent about weapons. Is anyone else hoping that arenanet will eventually come out with a sytem where you can choose between sets of 5 skills for your weapons? Because at the moment after a few months of playing gw2 my skills seem very bland and repeatable.
If anyone is confused, ill give an example.
A staff has 5 skills:
fireball/lightningball/waterball/iceball/earthball
“Oh, I dont like fireball, lightningball, waterball, iceball, or earthball though!”
Okay then, you can swap what 5-skill set for your staff! Now you have:
firestorm/lightningstorm/waterstorm/icestorm/earthstorm
(these skill names are just examples, not ideas)
Do you understand now? This will give more variety and make combat more exciting and more combos as well. This may also make PvP more challenging since you will not exactly know what skills your enemy has. I hope arenanet sees this suggestion and considers it, thank you
I found an asura that kept saying “I like turtles”
Do you think they will be in the new sea of sorrows map since they are aquatic?
There’s only a few largos currently in-game, and most of them are in that area. We’ve got one in Brisban Wildlands, three in Mount Maelstrom (along with Order of Whispers characters discussing efforts to recruit them), another in Straits of Devastation, and at least one in Malchor’s Leap.
I’ll be very surprised if there aren’t any largos involved with the new map.
Personally, I hope they’ll be dropping hints.
There is THREE in mount maelstrom? Wow, i must go find them.
sPvP is a whole different animal. You shouldnt get PvE or wPvP gear just because you play a different “animal” all the time. Thats like saying “Oh, i play PvE a lot so I should earn free cool looking sPvP gear” :/
Floating, hovering and “close to land” flying will bring a new feel to the gameplay both visually and mechanically, something the other races don’t have
Largos are an aquatic race – they don’t fly. At all. Those “wings” are actually fins, or meant to be. The fact that so many see them as wings might mean they need a redesign, but I’m guessing we’d see them get a makeover when they become a player race anyway, given the differences from what we have now and their amazing concept art.
Do you think they will be in the new sea of sorrows map since they are aquatic?
lol, i just put up a thread about crosbows >.<. Anyways, I would add a OH tome for mesmer/guardian, an MH/OH hand aura for necro/mesmer/ele, and brass knuckles for warrior/thief MH/OH, and a polearm for engineer.
(edited by Teva.2807)
The reason I want Largos as a race is because they remind me a lot like quarians in Mass Effect. The voice, their uses of masks, even their actions and movements. Quarians are my favorite “race” in the mass effect series and that is why I love Largos
.
Am I the only one that is in love with largos? They look like human-harpies-elves and they are kitten. Whoever doesnt know about largos, here is a pic of one: Largos for new race please! >.<
i about 700. i just finishd
My Download is at 88%, i cannot wait! Arenanet throws the best events, and I am very excited to see what they created in this event.
24% atm
/15char
QQ this will take forever
7,500 files. holy hell. at least mine is moving at 1+ mb a sec
ITSDOWNLOADING ONLY AT KBS A SEC BUT IDGAF ITS DOWNLOADING MAKING NUMBERS POP
Its bc of the massive of number ppl trying to download. just wait a few mins
its bc of the amount of ppl downloading at once
this is how to have fun in LA
Finally! Thank you Miss. Regina for clarifying in a sticky.
I forgot to add that some mobs in “Group Events” are still soloable. I soloed a champion troll that was supposed to be a “Group Event” but it turned out that he didnt hit for much at all, and I didnt even have that much armor.
I want a profession with fists, and fast movement and trickery. Prolly a mixture of a Thief/mesmer. He can move around your enemy and circle around them fast and teleport and confuse the enemy, can shapeshift, and has “Fist bandages” or “gauntlets” as a weapon. So im practically thinking of a ninja w/o a sword :P
First of all before I walk about the Halloween Event, I want to talk about that “???.” I am 99.99% sure that it is for the Halloween event that would be near the end of the month. I believe that it would make lots of sense, and Arenanet has stated it wasnt a bug.
Now I would like to talk about The Halloween Event. For you beta players, in my opinion, the past events that Gw2 held in BWE 1-3 was astounding. I loved every bit of it, and it was definitely game changing for me. I wonder what we will see in the Halloween event, maybe an asura gate that leads to a “new, temporary map” for Halloween? Or maybe what they did last time where there was a map-wide event.
What do you guys think would be in the Halloween event?
Um… is it sad that i spent $220+ on this game so far?
$80 for the game and the rest for gems
and caufen: I think it would fit with the lore for a norn. That class just rings Spirits in my head.
u can make builds that are similar to ur concept for necro, fang
nice creativity tho.
Hello guys, I want to talk about how in my opinion, mobs have been dumbed down TOO much. I believe this was caused by too many players QQing that it was “too hard”, so arenanet dumbed it down. But since most people in this game know the basics or more, I think that arenanet should make the mob difficulty higher for a few reasons:
1. In DE’s, mobs die too fast. This causes players’ leveling to slow down because they probably couldnt get enough DE participation xp since the mobs were dying too fast, and since DE’s are an important and new component to the MMO genre and Gw2, it should be raised. Mobs dying too fast can ruin experience in a very interesting/“fun” DE and can end too quickly.
2. Most “World Bosses” are super easy now (with the exception of the Fire Elemental), and ruining that “Game-changing and devestating” experience. Seeing the shatterer standing there shooting pink fire out of his mouth that barely hurt/do not hit you at all for 90% of the time is not amuzing and game-changing, and watching the Shadow Behemoth constantly scream at you is not amuzing and gamechanging either. Raising difficulty/mechanics in bosses could have that “rushing and exciting” feeling and making a player’s game experience more fun.
3. This reason isnt as important for PLAYERS, but for arenanet; it can still make player experiences better though. Raising difficulty of mobs could stop/make bots take longer to kill>retrieve loot>port before you have a chance to target and report them. I try to constantly help arenanet and report bots but I cant catch them fast enough because they pick up the loot and teleport before I could even target them.
To all the BWE1-3 players: I believe that the difficulty of mobs in BWE1 were fine, it was just that we werent used to this type of combat so it was a tougher time killing mobs. They dumbed down mobs after BWE2 and after release they once again dumbed down mobs.
Before some “stereo-typical Gw2 fanboys” try to defend the nerf with all of their hearts, I want to say that I am a Gw2 fanboy myself and I have been waiting for this game to come out for 4+ years. I am just being honest and giving my opinion.
Please comment if you support/agree with this and if you support this hopefully arenanet would read this and understand.
(PS: sorry that my english is not so good. :x)
