Alright, I know some of these have probably been mentioned before, but I think there a few essential updates that would really be beneficial and convenient to the community as a whole:
Updated LFG system
This one has probably been beaten a lot, but third-party sites such as GW2lfg.com have it down pretty much perfectly, and it would be very useful to build this in game. I doubt everyone throughout the game has heard about this site, and I’m sure there are other sites in use. Putting a mechanic like this in the game itself will be a much easier way to party up and do dungeons and such.
Basic/Fine Transmutation Stones
To me this is a serious issue. I have almost every profession to level 80 by now, which means all of my 100-some basic transmutation stones will be completely worthless. I would like to see a way that I could refine these into Fine transmutation stones, such as a mystic forge recipes consisting of a basic transmutation stone and a mystic coin or something.
Game code Build Savers
This was something amazing in GW1. I’m the kind of player that gets bored of playing the same thing…which is why I have all of the different professions. But I also get bored of using the same builds on these professions. Guild Wars 1 had an awesome build saving mechanic that I could easily save and load builds that I’ve used in the past. This will be more complex with the involvement of retraining traits, but even if you could only load these builds at a trait training NPC, it would be a much better system than having to manually select and remember all of my healing, utility, and elite skills, as well as all of my trains for every build and profession.
Pet/Minion AI – especially dodging
The biggest problem for pets to me right now is they can’t dodge. I saw a post that talked about pets dodging whenever you dodge, and I think that it would be nice to see my pet evade big attacks that I do, especially with large dungeon bosses and such where they are constantly either dying or on swap recharge. Minions may be a little harder to design an AI for, but I would like to see some improvement with pets, at least in dodging.
Map-wide Dynamic Event viewing
Pretty much speaks for itself. If I’m on the south side of a map and there’s an event going on at the top, I would like to know about it if I look on my world map, at least.
Better/More Underwater Elites
Perfect example is the thief…It’s a pain to have to use the venom elite underwater…especially when it is so brutally underpowered.
PvP Menu Hotkey
Not a big deal, but a hotkey to open up the PvP menu would be nice.
Guild Capes and Halls
What happened to these? They were awesome from GW1, I would like to have an option to display my guild’s cape and emblem like I could in GW1. Also, I believe guild halls have been beaten to death already, but they would still be a nice option.
Dungeon tokens
I several dungeon tokens that are just sitting on my people or in my bank. I would really like to see these being either a collectable item, or something more in terms of currency. A collectable slot wouldn’t do much since it could only hold a stack (250) which is next to none, but I think something like the “collection of laurels” idea should also be applied to dungeon tokens.
Spear/Trident comparison
This is something that has literally bothered me since DAY 1. Every time I get an underwater weapon drop, it seems to compare it to the opposite kind of underwater weapon. Example: I get a spear, and want to see if it’s better than what I currently am using. It compares it to trident instead (which is sometimes not even in the primary underwater weapon slot). It’s actually really annoying to constantly go back and manually try to compare them.
This is all I can think of at the moment: I might add more later if I think of any others…but I think a lot of these would be very nice.

I agree. It’s annoying when I’m trying to do daily events and such and have to run around in circles just to find events to do.
Also, I think it would help encourage players working together…instead of just one person doing an event because they’re the only one around, others could see where the event is from anywhere on the map and would be more likely to help out and participate.
Sounds a lot like a Ritualist from GW1 to me..
I like this idea….I have several stacks of tokens just sitting in my bank. It would be really nice to be able to have them stored elsewhere that would be much more convenient.
I don’t use a bear, actually. I’ve been using a Jaguar/Black Moa combo. Black Moa I guess is a somewhat tanky pet. Should I go Jaguar/White Raven? Also, should I try to focus some trait points and utility skills towards beast mastery and my pet?
Thanks, I appreciate the comment. I didn’t mean they were hard to play as in I was dying a lot, I just meant I didn’t feel like I was having as much fun or reaching a full potential. I will definitely try this out.
Alright, so I’ve been going through my characters (1 of each profession) getting them up to level 80. Next on my list was the ranger, which would be my 5th level 80 character.
Here’s the thing: I’ve gotten him to level 46, and he’s still brutally boring and seemingly useless to play. Originally I also hated playing my Mesmer, but everyone told me that Mesmers got better after about 40-45, and they were completely right. Got my Mesmer to level 80 and I loved it after that 40-45 range.
To me, it just seems that the Ranger is very very underpowered in PvE. I’m having a much harder time doing anything than I did on my other 4 characters. It seems as if anything I do as a ranger, another profession could do it ten times better. I felt the same way about Rangers in GW1…I wanted to play them, but just couldn’t see any practical use for them.
I’ve tried multiple things, mostly Greatsword, Longbow, Shortbow, Axe/Torch, and although GS, LB, and A/T seemed to be the most fun and effective, I’m still having a difficult time with them.
Am I doing something wrong, or is this the class? Does it get better after a certain level like the Mesmer seemed to do? Is there any talk of a buff coming up? Thanks for the help/advice.
The ending of this game was such a let-down. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the game and I loved (almost) all of the story besides the annoying backtracking after every instance….the epic battles and strategies to slowly make Zhaitan less powerful seemed like it had a point leading up to an even more epic final battle…but the problem was…it sucked.
The entire final battle, the WHOLE point of the Guild Wars 2 personal story, was to sit on a ship spamming “2, 2, 2, 2” over an over again? I mean, honestly…the “tutorial” instance is even better than this final “epic” battle. Very disappointed…
I agree completely. I think it’s ridiculous that with some of these higher tier items, I have to spend several gold just to list it. Then, if a bunch of people decide to sell 1c below me, I don’t want to have to spend another several gold just to relist it, just because I’m willing to sell it at a lower price. Maybe add in a modify current lists option to lower the amount?
Ok, this is getting ridiculous. A month ago, I was frustrated, but now words such as disappointed, mad, or upset don’t cut it. A month and a half after launch, and they’re still locked? Seriously? I don’t anticipate this being a difficult task, and I know I’m not the only one still waiting for names. Not even any word about it, plus ArenaNet has been deleting any post about the issue. Very disappointed in their service right now. I’m a customer of about 8 years now, never been this upset with them. When someone asks a valid question, you either answer it or fix it, you don’t just delete their post and ignore it.
Guardian greatsword went from being my favorite weapon set in the game to now one of the least favorite…in my opinion, made the gameplay a lot less smooth and completely nerfed the builds I was trying to run…
So…it’s been a month now since headstart launch, and I decided on a name I wanted to name my Warrior, and it was reserved. I created my other characters and decided to wait a few more days to see if the name would be claimed.
I read on a blog post that the names that were unclaimed by the day after launch (August 29th) would be freed. Still, the name is unclaimed, and the name is reserved almost a month after release. I would really appreciate if the unclaimed reserved names could be freed up because I’ve been expecting it shortly after launch…now almost a month later I feel like I’ve waited too long to just give up.
I understand there’s bugs to be fixed and other issues that are important, as I am a victim to the “story skipping 20 levels” bug…but I’d really like to be able to play on the character I’ve been waiting so long to play on. It’s rather annoying.
Thanks,
The Eternal Grace
Hi,
This may not be the correct section, but I don’t know where else to put it. There is a specific character name that I have been trying to get but it was reserved from GW1. However, the name still has not been claimed, and I read on a blog post several months ago that unclaimed reserved character names will be opened after launch day…which hasn’t quite happened yet. I understand everyone at ArenaNet has been busy with bugs and I greatly appreciate the time and effort put into fixing these as there has definitely been many large improvements. Is there any idea on when these names would be open, though? I really would like to get a start on this profession I have picked out with the name if I can get it
Thanks

Same with me, and quite honestly I’m furious about this. I hate having to grind, and I feel like I have to grind enough between personal instances in order to be the level needed, and now they’re telling me I have to grind for 18 levels straight without a story to do? Very, very disappointed…and I have always been an extreme supporter of Guild Wars 1 and this game since announced.
