GW1 was not an mmorpg so to compare it to GW2 is a bit wrong.

Some people disagree with that…I am one of them. It wasn’t directly an open-world mmorpg, but it was definitely still there. I mean really…mmorpg stands for what? “Massively multiplayer online role-playing game”, correct?

  • Massively – There were large number of players who played – check
  • Multiplayer – You formed parties and guilds and achieved things with them – check
  • Online – check
  • Role-playing – Well I was playing a character I created, so – check
  • Game – check

If it isn’t an mmorpg, what was it? GW1 is definitely comparable with GW2 in many aspects, especially user interface and such, which is mostly what I was referring to anyway.

The near-universally agreed on definition of MMO includes: persistent open world. Even Anet disagrees with your broad definition, describing GW1 themselves as “not an MMORPG” When they described GW2 prior to release, their starting point was to talk about how GW1 fueled their desire to make “a true mmo.”

I would like to reiterate:

especially user interface and such, which is mostly what I was referring to anyway.

If you disagree that it’s an mmo, that’s fine. That doesn’t mean Anet has to take a step down in terms of UI customization and user-friendliness.

What I mean by “dying” simply this: Activity is decreasing. I don’t think really anyone can argue with that.

When your evidence of “decreasing activity” is completely anecdotal…

Yes, yes you can. And the entire discussion will be pointless.

It isn’t anecdotal at all when I have yet to hear someone in a guild that has less than 475 active members saying anything different, at least from my server, anyway.

Do you know what anecdotal evidence is?

Of course: personal experience. Yes, there’s some “anecdotal evidence” included, but things such as dungeon activity (one of many things) has been obviously decreasing. It isn’t just me who notices this, and I’m not saying that the “game is dead.” I’m just advising Anet to actually listen the thousands of players out there trying to help them maintain their game.

I’m not offended, far from it… I find these threads endlessly amusing. It’s wonderful to see such narcissism that a person thinks that just because HE doesn’t like the game any more, that it’s going to shut down any day now.

Anet excecutive meeting:

Oh, no! Some random guy on the forums quit the game! What can we do?

We can’t afford to lose him, he spent $20 on gems last month! Give him a free Twilight if he’ll come back!

That’s not enough, we need to keep this guy interested or everyone’s going to quit!

Obviously you failed to read the post. I still play and love to play, I’m saying dozens of players and myself have all seen activity decreasing.

Your Guild’s needs and preferences of your dear friends are not necessarily what’s “best for the game”, though I am sorry many of your guildies already left.

At least 1/3 of our guild has left the game, 1/3 have become much less active, with only the last 1/3 actually actively playing the game.

I never said this post is about my guild or whether or not it’s “best for the game”, especially when I also mentioned that many other guilds I’ve talked to (all, actually below 475+) have been observing the exact same thing as I have. As I’ve reiterated several times, it’s one of many examples that show the game’s activity is decreasing.

It’s okay to be critical of the game.

But why does so many people feel it’s necessary to throw in the “Game is obviously dying” statement? To lend some semblance of credibility to your criticism? (Game is dying -> my opinions that certain things are broken obviously are correct.)

Air out your criticism by itself. If it’s well written and well thought-out, it will stand by its own merits, without you having to resort to this “Game is dying” hoolaboo.

Maybe “game is dying” means something else to you than it does to me. I’ll change up in my post specifically what I mean by that, because a lot of people seem to be taking offense or something to this statement.

Just because some people still play a game doesn’t mean it isn’t dying. What I mean when I say it’s dying is simply what I said in my post: Activity everywhere is decreasing. Of course there’s going to be those people who still have things to do and want to play, but whether you like it or not, activity in the game has definitely been decreasing.

I would say they don’t have "no meaning’, the meaning is to try to convince people the game is, in fact, dying or falling apart. Because if more people start to think “wow, that guy is right…” then it stops being rumormongering and start being a correct prediction.

Also google: “Mojang goes Bankrupt”.

If it ever actually works, then I won’t call it meaningless

I’m not trying to convince anyone anything. I’m pointing out facts that obviously others see as well. If you’re too offended by my obvious points, don’t read the forums.

Thread will probably be deleted, but wanted to say that AC is not a hard Dungeon at all, and the reason people flock to CoF1 is that it’s too easy vs everything else int he game, AC or not. Many people still do AC-compare its population to Arah or even CM. Obviously enough, you will see most people wanting to do CoF 1 because it grants the biggest rewards for the least effort, not because AC is now “too hard.”

Any player that is scared of doing AC anymore just overreacted to the new level of difficulty. It’s very hard to fail on it, and ragequitters will always quit, regardless Dungeon.

True, but overall less people are running AC, and I don’t believe these people migrated to CoF. I’m sure some did, but I know CoF has been being farmed since essentially release. I never claimed that it’s “too hard”, though, because I don’t think it is, but the fact remains that less people are doing it now compared to before.

The boss in P2 is ridiculous, though…completely boring and takes too long, especially with a group that doesn’t know what they’re doing.

STOP saying its dying cause its not at all.

As I said before, I call lowered activity counts as a good measurement for dying. If activity is decreasing (which from everything I’ve seen, it definitely is), then it’s starting to die. I’m not saying they can’t come back from this, they just need to start working on things that people actually care about.

Wake up Anet, your game is starting to die.

Unfounded claims of the game dying: Check.
Claims that GW2 isn’t as good as GW1: Check.

Its like a pattern in every kitten ‘complaint’ thread. All I’m missing is ‘whar trinity whar’.

  • 1 – I believe activity is a large role in whether or not a game is dying. If half of my guild is going inactive, as well as every single other guild that I’ve talked to as well (like I said above, except 475+ guilds) have been drastically losing activity, that’s a sure sign of a game dying.
  • 2 – Another sign, as pointed above, is dungeon running. Hardly anyone runs dungeons anymore compared to what it used to be, and I don’t really think you can argue with that. I don’t count people sitting in Lion’s Arch afk dancing with their fractal backpiece and legendary as being active.
  • 3 – I never said GW1 was, or is, better than Guild Wars 2. I said there are amazing aspects of Guild Wars 1 that were never included in Guild Wars 2, and it is a shame that some things they did right in their first game, they completely messed up in their second.

Please, do read the post before commenting on it. If you can read all of that in less than 30 seconds after I post it, hats off to you, but when your comment doesn’t make sense with what I wrote, anyone can tell you didn’t.

The Eternal Grace.3157

First off, let me state that I love this game, but I am also not afraid to be critical of it. Let’s face it: Guild Wars 2 is dying already.

  • Activity is nowhere near what it used to be. Guilds (besides very large guilds of 475+) are slowly collapsing from inactivity. I understand that the intent is that dying or small guilds can merge with others for those who want to successfully do guild missions and other events, like dungeons or fractals, but here’s the thing: guilds are very unlikely to merge because there is no built-in mechanic for this. In order for guilds to merge, one guild literally has to give up all of their progress, influence, merits, unlocks, their guild name, and hard work for nothing. If there was an option for guilds to merge, while actually merging unlocks, influence, deciding between one of the names, etc., this would be much easier for guilds to do, if that’s really what Anet is after.
  • Dungeons are failing miserably. If by “making AC more fun” they really meant “force people to not play AC, unless you want to join a level 80 group that goes for the best group composition”, then they’ve done a fantastic job. I remember when there used to be LOADS of people outside of the dungeon along with guild banner buffs. I did an AC run with guildies the other day, and when we finished the dungeon, there was not a single person outside of our party by the entryway. Really shows how they’ve killed AC…..now people only run CoF p1 (Mostly “full zerker, 4W1M or GTFO” groups) or FotM, which even those get dull after a while.
  • Final personal storyKilling Zhaitan...well, let's just say we can tell you were in a rush to finish the end of the story and leave it at that. If you were hoping to get players to feel very disappointed after climaxing through the rest of the game, you've done a great job.
  • Living Story… It’s a great idea, but I’m going to be honest with you, Anet…it sucks. There’s very little content involved in the living story, and what is there is utterly boring. The sooner you realize this, the better.
  • PvP…I believe Anet is focusing way too hard on PvP right now, especially when even that is dying. Yes, I understand some things need urgent nerfs and such, but don’t neglect other aspects of your game then. Also, don’t make PvE players suffer from PvP nerfs. I’m glad you’re finally realizing that there needs to be a split between balancing PvE, WvW, and PvP.
  • User-friendliness: This is a very broad topic, so I won’t cover much, but things like key-bindings and guild interface needs a lot of improvement still. I mean honestly, if I accidentally have a typo in my guild’s message of the day, why do I have to completely retype the whole thing without at least being able to copy/paste my old one?
  • Many other things as well…I found this video, despite it’s awful cheesiness, to point out actually great points and I really believe you should listen to them, Anet.
Wake up Anet, your game is starting to die. It’s a great game and it’s a lot of fun, but people are just plain running out of things to do and reasons to keep them involved of the game. I know a lot of my guild will be moving to ES:O when that comes out…can’t say for sure whether I will as well or not, but if you want to keep people in your game, you need to start listening to them and giving your players what they actually want.

Guild Wars 1 was great…I don’t see why so many of the good things from GW1 are missing from this game.

Edit: What I mean by “dying” simply this: Activity is decreasing. I don’t think really anyone can argue with that.

Number 5 was proposing an idea very similar to the mechanic from Guild Wars 1, and I have to be honest, I liked their “universal-world, different districts” mechanic much better. As an officer in my guild, it’s actually relatively difficult to find new recruits, since the server is basically dying down, besides two large guilds on the server.

Having literally JUST played that mission for the first time, infamous cannon fight and all, I think I finally understand it.

The final showdown with Zhaitan ISN’T a fight. People all get disappointed because they’re expecting to fight him, but think about it: when was Zhaitan ever a fighter? All along, he was a chessmaster, using a large and varied stable of minions to put pressure on the heroes. Once you defeat all the pieces, he’s nothing but a helpless King. He can move one space per turn and he loses automatically the second you corner him.

The final mission isn’t a ‘fight’ with Zhaitan. It’s a chase scene.

That said, I am totally expecting we will be ‘fighting’ Primordious in the traditional sense. If that one isn’t a Warrior I don’t know who is. And I SWEAR TO GOD if they give us another “throw rocks at the boss” battle I am going to be super irritated.

This actually makes a lot of sense…but at the same time, it’s very poorly designed to have to sit and spam 2 for the final epic scene. There’s no reason he shouldn’t have been able to put up some sort of a fight to actually make it fun. After all of the great Guild Wars 1 endings, I can’t believe how badly ArenaNet messed this up.

FotM Colossus Bug

The Eternal Grace.3157

While doing FotM, we got colossus as our third fractal, right before maw. We got to the arm seals, and destroyed the left one, but it said it still had a tiny tiny fraction of health left. We broke the right one, then after, and got the message “Destroy the final seal” or whatever. Well, the gate was still closed and the left seal still had health..

At this point, we went over with the hammer, saw there was one chanter remaining on the left side and broke the already destroyed left seal. Still, the gate was closed. We decided to try to jump off to wipe, hoping to reset the arm seals, which they did in fact reset to full health. However, since we had already completed it, no enemies spawned, and we were forced to leave right before the end of our fractal run because of a stupid bug.

Really? I’m so glad Anet is busy putting in things like the living story, SAB, and a bunch of PvP nerfs (which have a greater effect on PvE…skills really need to be split to prevent this…but that’s for a different post…) instead of focusing on fixing bugs in current parts of the game that make people waste an hour or two on a fractal run for nothing.

Not true at all, unless you’re looking for the most boring/easy classes to play. Warrior, especially, is just hitting an “easy button” when it comes to playing PvE.

Thiefs, Dungeons and PvE

in Thief

Posted by: The Eternal Grace.3157

The Eternal Grace.3157

Thieves are the very definition of mediocre in dungeons. They aren’t incredible like warriors, guardians, or mesmers, but they aren’t garbage like engineers, rangers, or necromancers. A thief can provide pretty good damage under ideal circumstances while being exceptionally squishy and not typically adding any group support other than shadow refuge and blindspam on non-champions. In terms of dungeon usefulness, they are smack dab in the middle with elementalists, and like elementalists, are very prone to death in the wrong hands.

Lol. Just because warriors, guardians, and mesmers are the 3 easiest classes to play doesn’t make them the only good ones in dungeons. Engineers and Rangers have the exact same thing going for them as thieves: they aren’t mediocre at all, they’re just often played by people who don’t know how to play their class well (since medium armor classes are by far the hardest classes to play in this game). Also, necromancers definitely aren’t garbage, and elementalists are not mediocre in the slightest. It really depends on how much the person who’s playing understands how to play their class.

If a ranger brings a bear and a shortbow/longbow and just sits back the whole time, barely using utility and rarely weapon/pet swapping and just leaving their pet to tank (and therefore die) they’re definitely not playing it well. Unfortunately this is the kind of ranger most people play because they think "Oh, “range-r”, I have to stay at range." When in actuality, ranger is just another term for adventurer or so.

If a thief brings d/d or s/p and expects to be able to sustain melee like a warrior or guardian can, they’re going to die, and often very quickly. Again, unfortunately this is often the thief I see when they’re in my parties, and yet again provide them with a bad rep all-around (however it seems ArenaNet has been trying to make them useless with their recent PvP nerfs that have a greater effect on PvE).

I would go on with every other class you mentioned as “garbage/mediocre”, but I think you get the idea. Just because most people end up playing a class wrong doesn’t mean that it’s useless in PvE.

The Eternal Grace.3157

I’ll be very blunt here…most people who play thieves suck at playing thieves. As a player who has one of every profession, all at level 80, I have played through every profession a lot, and I can say thieves are definitely the most difficult to play and master. This is why thieves get such a bad rep.

They’re good if you use them right, I’ll say that much. I found this guide to thieves, and it’s pretty interesting if you’d like to know more:

http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/64903-thief-a-basic-guide/

There’s not really a “best weapon set”, because thief weapon sets are all pretty good for different reasons (I actually have every weapon set available on my thief because of this) and I change them out pretty often. The shortbow is definitely the most useful right now because of its great movement abilities (which is really what the thief is about) and its AoE damage.

Thieves can be useful in the right hands…but as of late, ArenaNet has been nerfing them to dirt in PvE for PvP reasons…which is incredibly stupid. They really need to split PvE and PvP like they did in GW1…but I digress.

They’re also fun to play once you get the hang of it…but like I said, they’re definitely the most difficult class to play because you really can’t be justkittenderping in melee and expect tons of damage and survivability like the easy-to-play warrior can. DPS, movement, burst, evade…etc.

Good luck

As a mostly PvE player, I’m really getting sick of builds and skills getting nerfed because of the over-powered playstyle in PvP, even though the builds/skills are right on par with others in PvE.

Guild Wars 1 really did it right when they decided to split PvE and PvP skill definitions. Please do this again because I really don’t believe there is a fair way to balance things in PvE and PvP when they are totally different.

Why does the mesmer have a melee weapon and why do so many people like it? I’m not saying it’s bad, I would just really appreciate some advice on how to use it properly. Who knows, maybe it’s just not my playstyle. Right now I am running pretty much a zerker phantasm DPS build with GS + Sword/Focus.

@Kaimick

I get what you’re saying about 15% not being exact majority, because yes, technically you would need over 50%. However, you have to consider that nothing in this game would ever be changed if this logic was always used, seeing as the actual majority is always the amount of people who don’t care.

(again, these numbers will be hypothetical)
Like I said earlier, some people think rangers are underpowered. Probably only 5% or less of the community actually plays a ranger often. These are going to be the people who care. This boils down to say 4% of all players want a ranger buff, 1% oppose it, and 95% don’t really care since they don’t play ranger. Using your logic before, this would mean ranger gets no buff and they remain underpowered in the eyes of some players. This definitely isn’t fair. The 4% to 1% majority comparison is much more relevant in any situation that targets people who actually care.

Allow Race Changes!

in Suggestions

Posted by: The Eternal Grace.3157

The Eternal Grace.3157

1) It completely ruins the Personal Story. If you reset your race, you reset your story, period. It’s not enough to just shrug it off with “I don’t care about the story” — the Personal Story is a big part of the game, and we don’t know how it will be carried through in the future. ArenaNet is not going to approve of any process which will erase a player’s progress and discourage them from reaching completion or continuing with future installments of the story. Also, ANet is not going to make game design decisions based around the assumption that their story is not worth playing through on different races.
Also, for those who do care about the story, they now have the ability to effectively see two story paths on one character, without having to level a new toon. ANet can’t be just putting these features out there, because there might be a few people who “don’t care about the story”. It effects everyone.

2) The fact is, you have already benefited from whatever chapters of the Personal Story you did complete, before the change. You were awarded with XP, gear, boosters, mystic keys, and other items that may have been used and cannot be given back in any quantifiable sense. It’s not fair to other players, that you got where you are today partly in thanks to those things, and yet now you have the opportunity to win them all a second time.

3) Racial/cultural armor would have to be removed, which of course you may have already equipped and benefited from at some point. And no, I don’t want to hear nonsense like “But I never bought cultural armor!” If they allow race changes, they have to do it for everyone — not just for you. There are players who did get cultural armor, and that needs to be addressed. There’s simply no way to determine how much of an effect that had on a player’s gameplay.

4) The same issue needs to be addressed for racial skills. You played through the entire game and leveled to 80 using a specific selection of racial skills, and now you expect to suddenly have an 80 with a new set of skills. How much of a difference that makes is not yours to decide — but what’s clear is that it makes for an unfair exchange in the end.

5) It trivializes playing the actual game. It sends the message that, if you want to have a different character, the game is not worth leveling through a second time. Part of the reason they put the work into creating so many diverse zones, and why there is account-bound anything, is to encourage people to play alts and experience things a different way.
When it comes down to it, there are some things in this game that are not for sale. If you want to max-level Charr, then make one and play through some new zones. Leveling a new character is not the worst thing in the world, and though it will take some time, it can be done. If you can’t bring yourself enjoy that, then frankly, you don’t enjoy the game and I don’t know why you’re here.

6) Allowing a race change is not the same as allowing a hair or face change — neither in degree, or in kind. Face and hair changes are cosmetic-only, whereas a race change has very real, concrete effects on gameplay and fairness.

1-2) Either reset the story with no benefits second play-through, or simply make it possible after a certain point (maybe even completion) of your personal story. Easy fix.

3) The racial armor has 2 solutions…
Either..

i- the cultural armor is at the expense of the player at that point and is now unuseable
ii- the cultural armor gets “mirrored” onto the same-tier set of the race you’re changing to.

Easy fix..

4) What’s the difference if I used skills for certain levels? That’s why I can already swap out my healing, utility, and elite skills whenever I want outside of combat, isn’t it? And it’s not like I’m not working or paying for a change of those skills, obviously there would be some gem cost.

5) Ignorant response. I have 8 level 80s, one of each profession. I gave this example earlier…I have a charr thief (which I like). What if I decide I don’t like that he’s bigger than a human and I’d rather have a human thief now? I’ve still played through every race’s storyline. However, for someone who hasn’t, why should they be forced to? I didn’t really like the norn storyline…why should I have to do it again just because I want the look/abilities of a norn? Isn’t most of the point to this game to not feel like you’re forced to do things?

6) Pretty much the same as 4. The biggest part to race change is cosmetics. Other than that, it’s same traits, same weapons, same profession, etc. The only real difference on gameplay is healing/utility/elite skills, which get swapped out anyway, and most of them really don’t have that big of an effect since profession skills are better in most situations anyway.

It’s really annoying that Arenanet claims to “listen to their community” when I look through these suggestions and rarely see any post from a dev.

It would really be to make a simple of statement of..

-“Yes, we’re implementing this”
-“No, we’re for sure not implementing this”
-"I like that idea, I’ll talk to other devs and we’ll consider it*

I have very little support that they actually listen to their community, seeing as most of the things I see posted on here (not just under suggestions) are actually getting fixed or put into the game.

Where are you getting a large part ?

Look at the several posts on these forums alone. Think about how many players there are and how many different forum and fansites there are. If I see race change posts daily on any of these forums sites, hear it from multiple guild members, see it in map chat in places like Lion’s Arch, and to include the people who would like this but don’t bother to go onto forums or fansites…I would say there is a large number of players who would like this.

These numbers are made up, but my guess it’s something like this
-15% want race change
-5% oppose race change
-80% are indifferent

If that isn’t a good enough “majority” for you, I don’t know what is, because a majority of players will always not care either way.

So unless you can bring forth some major determining reason other than

  • A lot of players want this
  • I worked so hard and he is 80 ect ect.
  • the players want it so we should get it.
I don’t think your suggestion is going to carry any weight. Cause if CC Eva statement I posted doesn’t counter your argument which it will to 97% of the argumentative reasons then it will all be for not.

I think those are all very valid reasons. It’s a smart idea from a business standpoint for them. If the players don’t get what they want from playing the game, they aren’t going to keep playing it or recommend it to other people; Again, not to mention the fact that Arenanet would actually make a lot of money from gem purchases through this feature.

It’s like a restaurant. I don’t get what I ordered but I payed for it, or I am simply unsatisfied with the quality of the food, I won’t keep going there or recommend that restaurant to other people because the quality of the customer service just wasn’t there.

Question is does it really annoy you or are you just bored with it

Does it really matter? If people are asking for a race change, they’ve obviously invested a lot of time and money into their character. Who cares whether it’s annoying them or if they’re bored of it…they want to keep the character but change the race. Not that big of a deal if gender and appearance can be switched that easily.

Just because someone wants something doesn’t mean they should have it, regardless of the amount of whatever they put into the current incarnation of it.

I completely agree that not everyone should get what they want. But it’s a part of the community playing their game (a large part from what I’ve seen..) and if ArenaNet wants to keep their players happy, they’ll listen to them.

Starters a few million players would make up more than the congruent player base that Guild Wars 2 has. Last time I checked Guild Wars two have around high 700k players. At the begin of the game it was 400k player base.

So in turn your millions is more like a couple thousand players. Although no matter what number you put on it be it thousand or millions if the over all number is 700k to 40 million the few thousand to 2 million is not a reason to put it in the game.

From what I have read, a few million copies have been sold, with this base 400k players being on at any given time, but as you said, that’s irrelevant. It’s a given percent, with my guess being at least 5-10% of players who would use a race change if possible. If those people’s opinions don’t matter, then maybe it shouldn’t get put into the game, but as I see it, it doesn’t effect those who don’t want it, so their opinion definitely matters and it should be implemented.

ArenaNet does not need a majority, like stated above. Majority only matters on controversial topics that have one side or another, such as “Should Hundreds Blades get a damage nerf?” – There’s either yes or no, and it effects all players. Things like “Should race change be allowed?” really only effects the individual, and therefore does not matter what the majority wants as long as it’s part of the community.

As for personal story, like I also said above…make race change an option only after a certain part (maybe even after completion) of your personal story.

As for cultural armor, if someone has cultural armor, have the coding change to cultural armor of the same tier for the corresponding race.

@The Eternal Grace: Correction. A rather small part of the community is asking for it. The majority seems to be fine without. So it sucks that you apparently chose the wrong race, I am sorry. Does not take all that long to level a new character though.

I never said I wanted a race change…I’m using that as an example. Also, a rather “small part” of the community is still a large amount of people, likely a few million. Your logic is like saying a very underpowered profession (which I don’t think there is any, but some consider ranger to be UP for example) doesn’t deserve a buff because only a small amount of the community plays a ranger. Kind of an ignorant response imo.

A definite no to race change. Just try making a new character.

Thats the most stupid thing i have ever heard.

I second this. I’m sorry, but I already got my charr thief to level 80, equipped him with full exotics, runes, sigils, dark dye, etc. It really isn’t worth it for me to make a new thief at this point and reinvest all of this time/money just because I decide I would like his skin to be human instead.

I know ArenaNet said they weren’t thinking about this, but let’s face it…the community is begging for it. They say they listen to their community…I have few examples of this being true. If they really want to make their community happy and listen to them, this will be the thing to implement, even if it’s restricted to after you reach a certain point in the story.

(not to mention the money Anet would actually get from implementing this…)

Ground-targeting Combat Improvement

I was playing on my thief today, and tried replacing my current stun-breaker. Roll for Initiative, with Shadowstep. I thought this would be a better fit in my current build since initiative wasn’t an issue and Shadowstep allows a little more utility to me. However, it is a horrible stun breaker unless you use fast-casting ground targeting because you have to hit it twice and time really can’t be wasted if you’re stunned and getting hit hard. The problem with this is that I hate using fast-casting ground targeting with skills like Cluster Bomb or Shadow Refuge. It then dawned on me that it would be really nice if I could, for example, right click on the skill and select whether I wanted that specific skill to be fast-cast ground targeting or not.

Long story short, I would like to see fast-casting ground targeting be skill-bound instead of the current all-or-none option.

SLD- BLACKGATE

SLD is a PvX guild.

-We largely focus on dungeons of all kinds and Fractals of the Mist, including daily runs for tokens and relics.

-Many of our members also participate in Structured PvP and WvW if you’re interested, but you are not required.

-We do Guild Missions several times a week, earning chests that include money, items, and commendations for the individual, as well as merits for the guild. We also have many members who participate in world events on a daily basis, including Jormag, Tequatl, the Shatterer, Maw, Shadow Behemoth, and more.

-We are a diverse guild and have players active at all times of the day. We also adapt very well to new members’ interests, and will have many members looking for just about anything to do with guildies.

-We have a Teamspeak server, which we always use for guild events. If you don’t have a mic, don’t worry about it; as long as you can hear us, it helps a lot. We are all very friendly and social, and have our own community that we are glad to accept new guild members into.

-At over 125 members we are growing. We have many experienced players, however we are always looking for more. At the same time, we accept new players as well, providing they are willing to learn. Many members of the guild would be available to help introduce newer players to the game and its mechanics.

-We hold weekly lotteries to anyone who is willing to participate. This is a good option for members to either spend a small amount of currency or even risk a lot of it to win large cash prizes!

If you feel interested to join SLD, feel free to mail/whisper myself or any of the other officers listed below with questions, comments, or a request for an invitation to our guild:
