Considering I tried looking up another thread about this and was unable to find one because the search on the forums was not working properly, I felt like I should just make my own.
It is not that I feel entitled enough to complain about a free item, it is the fact that Anet cared considerably more for their players in Guild Wars 1 than in Guild Wars 2, and this is another point that proved it. I am disappointed because they took a large step back, and I feel like Anet is saying “Here’s a mini 9-times for playing for a year, now give us more money” vs. “Thank you for playing and being loyal with us. We appreciate that you chose our game, and we worked hard to give you something we thought you’d enjoy”
Like I said, minipets aren’t that big of a deal to me, but it really is the thought and the message behind it that shows how much Anet has changed as a company
So, 8 of my 9 characters just had their first birthday. Why? Because I was so excited for Guild Wars 2 and to play every profession after the beta.
Why were they all made on release night? Because 1) I wanted to grab their names that I came up with and 2) because I knew Anet from Guild Wars 1 rewarded characters with a birthday present for their characters every year.
For those of you who never played GW1, the birthday present could be opened to reveal one of several minipets of different rarity. The minipets were tradeable, so if you didn’t get the one you like, you could sell it, or simply keep it and buy one from another player who doesn’t want theirs or maybe got a duplicate from a second character. It was never a HUGE deal, but it was nice to earn a unique reward for being a loyal player each year.
So now why am I disappointed? Yes, I did get my birthday present….The same one 8 (soon to be 9) times!
I am disappointed because this minipet is…
A) Mini Queen Jennah, which until this part in the living story (that I didn’t even bother to do because GW2 has been boring me lately, but that’s a whole different story) was never really involved to much with the game. Why couldn’t I see maybe a mini Zhitan, or something cool that actually had to do with the something more epic in Guild Wars 2.
B) Everyone gets this minipet! Mini Queen Jennah is not unique, not tradeable, and not interesting. What in the heck am I supposed to do with 9 account-bound Mini Queen Jennahs? I don’t even like using minipets in this game because every time I click “Deposit all collectables” my minipets disappear as well! Why can’t I at least right click on my minipet to select it to not auto-deposit with my crafting materials?
C) Not only does everyone get this minipet, everyone gets this minipet several times, depending on how many characters you’ve created and when. Why would I want the same minipet 9 times? Can’t I at least have a chance for something different? With Anet’s RNG-obsessed nature, it figures they leave it out when it could be used for something interesting.
I’ve been very disappointed with Guild Wars 2 lately, and this was just another slap in the face to myself, who I’d consider a hardcore, loyal Guild Wars fan.
Guild Wars 2 recently has been a very big disappointment for me. It was fun at first, but as they started to introduce the living story, I became less and less interested. As an earlier poster mentioned, the living story is shallow.
The living story is boring. It doesn’t have an interesting plot, and to me, it’s the same thing over and over every two weeks. I gave up on trying to do the achievements because there’s not much incentive for me to do them. They’re boring, and once I finish them, I get what? An account-bound mini pet to sit in my storage?
Guild Wars 1 never had me bored after one year of playing. Sure, I wouldn’t always be in the mood to play it, but there was something that always kept me coming back and being engaged for another few months.
I would much rather Anet stopped this living story, waited 6 months, and released a brand new expansion. In this expansion we could see a new plot that actually involves some other dragons that Guild Wars 2 was created around! Why do we all of a sudden stop caring about dragons like Jormag? Instead we’re busy farming their minions and fighting pirates! We would also be able to see new professions, new skills, new maps, and if we’re lucky, an entirely new continent, like Cantha or Elona that helped make Guild Wars 1 so diverse and interesting!
Anet now, I have noticed, have been way too involved in their profits and their gem store, and a whole lot less about their players. I understand that money has to be made, but at this point they’re doing it just because they want it, not because they need it. Guild Wars 1 was much more focused on making the players happy. They made their money on original game sales, expansions, and sometimes their store where I could buy extra character slots. Anet now is much more involved on seeing what they can put on the trading post to make money, and then develop living story content around that.
Exactly…took me a few weeks to get my 500 and now I have 10 slots filled up in my bank.
Now that I just racked up almost 2,350 badges of honor from my 6k achievement points, I literally have an entire row in my bank taken up with no idea what to use them on. I am basically broke since I just got my legendary, and everything, as far as I have seen, not only require badges, but also require gold.
My suggestion:
Turn Badges of Honor into an “Honor” currency. I know everyone’s probably thinking “Oh gosh, not another currency!”, but it would get rid of these 10 rows in my bank.
Also, I hope to see more useful things to spend these badges on without having to deplete my bank of gold at the same time. I worked for the honor, do I really need to spend gold on it too?
If Anet wants to include WvW as map completion, have 2 or 3 different stars. Like bronze for just WvW, silver for the world, and gold for everything, or something. But as far as the Gifts of Exploration go, it should just be the world map.
Agree x1000…. I’ve also made posts about this. It’s not necessary.
I really don’t want to see content updates like this every two weeks. This isn’t good content, if you can even call it content…it’s grindy, annoying achievements. I would much rather see actual content updates every few months that provide me with something fun and permanent to do rather than this RNG, Obsidian Sanctum JP/troll camping, running around doing boring tasks, and dungeons that only last two weeks stuff.
WvW is PvP…it has nothing to do with PvE and it shouldn’t. There aren’t NPC players going around taking keeps or doing the jumping puzzles, it’s PLAYERS doing those things..same reason I believe it’s stupid to require WvW maps for map completion. WvW is PvP, whether you admit that or not. I shouldn’t have to do anything in PvP for PvE achievements…
It was stupid the first time, and to see that they put essentially the same exact thing in this update is both not surprising and very disappointing. Anet has done really well with this game, but ever since they started doing this boring, annoying, grindy, and temporary living story, they’ve been going way downhill. They really need to get things together and find some permanent, WORTHWHILE content added if GW2 is going to outlive upcoming games, such as ES:O…
Consider it achievement for WvWers and ignore it then
You can’t and that’s my point. The WvW JP achiev points tie to the overall jumping puzzle achievement with the PVE JPs. Instead of counting them separately, they’re counted together so either I somehow do the WvW JP or I miss out on a significant portion of points I should be getting for my PVE effort.
PVP and PVE should be completely separate in as many ways as possible including but limited to: Gear balancing, skill balancing and achievement points. This way PVP players get the experience they want without having to suffer PVE ties and PVE players don’t have to cross paths with griefing kittenbags.
PvP and PvE ARE completely separate. WvW is not either – it is BOTH.
I’m sorry you feel entitled to the achievement. I’m sorry you think that in order to achieve something you should not have to work for it. Part of the Obsidian Sanctum’s challenge is that it is a PvP enabled zone. Nobody is forcing you to do the achievement except yourself, so you are fully in control of your experience. If you hate it, why are you doing it? If you HAVE to have every achievement, then why complain when some are difficult? You are signing up for it – have some self control and ignore it if you hate it, or quit complaining and ACHIEVE something.
Seriously? I disagree. I shouldn’t have to do anything in PvP for PvE achievements…The OP obviously doesn’t have a problem with working for achievements, but doing completely bull achievements like this is just stupid. Every achievement is be “ACHIEVE”-ing something.
I completely agree with the OP. It was stupid, and to see that they put essentially the same exact thing in this update is both not surprising and very disappointing. Anet has done really well with this game, but ever since they started doing this boring, annoying, grindy, and temporary living story, they’ve been going way downhill. Why am I not surprised that Anet would disappoint me yet again with content? I actually was at first a little excited to know that I’d be getting a unique, exotic piece…but it is..
-not unique
-bad stats for essentially every class except a guardian, and MAYBE an engineer or ranger depending on their playstyle
-not salvageable
-not worth getting
And on top of all of that, it included a pretty significant bug, showing yet again the lack of testing Anet does with their content.
I really don’t think Anet can handle content updates every two weeks…they can’t even provide good, fun, rewarding, or even worthwhile content once a month -.-
I’m disappointed that Anet thinks a money sinks, some skins, and grinding achievements, are passable as content…
It seems to be all about the gem store and making money, now….much greedier Anet than the Anet I knew from GW1.
Hello OP, I understand your point. Let me add that the “Living Story” has by far been the most unorthodox and to me the most disappointing series of updates an MMO has ever had. Instead of:
-new areas with hearts and events
-old areas with new hearts and events
-new personal story
-new permanent fractals or dungeons with their own rewards(stat or cosmetic wise)
-new weapons
…we get what you explained which is temporary money sinks and grinding achievements which i feel are more like tasks, labors.I still can not believe F&F took so long to complete. For a long while all that event encompassed was fixing signs(walking up to something and clicking F). The most exciting part of that Living Story chapter was the dungeon which lasted less time than everything else and was tainted by RNG rewards.
On the other hand we did get SAB which was the most thought out, polished, and rewarding(literally) thing to come out of GW2 this entire year. This makes me think no one in the Living Story project had anything to do with it. Its own unique commercial, its own gaming experience with combat mechanics, jumping puzzle mechanics, unique aesthetic style, rewards that can be purchased with tokens AND by RNG in chests, tasks that where areal achievement to complete, and even its own soundtrack.
Saying it all really blows my mind.F&F, Southsun, and Dragon Bash have all disappointed me. They have not lived up to the quality the level 1-80 experience impressed on me. Add the RNG push and the “achievement” grind and you got me skeptical about the integrity of the game.
Wow, you really hit the nail on the head. Thanks for this post, because I feel the exact same way. SAB did a good job by adding content that was fun and incorporated ways to earn rewards through RNG, but if you weren’t lucky, you still could earn the skins or whatever by working towards it.
Content that is fun, repeatable, and rewarding is exactly what I would like to see in a living story.
Tell me what you expected in GW1
Did you not play GW1?
The only monetization in that game was storage space and cosmetics, and I’m not talking weapon or armor skins, I’m talking full-on costumes like the Mad King outfit, the stuff that is ‘town clothes’ now. Whenever they had an event, if it had new skins, guess what? All of those weapons or armors were EARNED in-game. You never had to buy them off of the cash shop (Re: Braham and Rox’s weapon skins), nor did you ever have to “earn” them through a bullkitten RNG.
A good example of this would be the Candy Cane Weapons: The shards would randomly drop in the world (kind of like the Dragon Coffers do for this event), but rather than say, a 0.05% chance of getting the weapon you wanted, you just had to collect 9-12 shards and turn them in at the vendor of your choice. It was simple, it was effective, and everyone liked it.
Compare to now, where you are forced to endure two RNGs (One for the boxes to drop, one for the ticket in the box) if you don’t want to fork over cash for the boxes, and even if you do, you’re still faced with a far from guaranteed chance of getting a weapon skin.
All the players want is the ability to EARN the skins, rather than having to endure this RNG bullskritt. There are people who have opened 7000 Dragon Coffers— that’s over 175 gold if they were bought on the TP, mind— and still not received a single weapon ticket. There are also players who have opened 45 and received three tickets.
If you still think the way things are now is better, you need to take off your blinders.
You’re right. This is the greediness I was referring to with Anet…it seems like they always keep the gem store and its items very neat and stocked up, but even that includes RNG.
I believe GW1 had a better “living story” because content was more fun and the rewards were earned, not based on real money and luck.
I’m not thrilled with the content so far but not surprised either as it’s basically the same kinda “busy-work” tasks we’ve seen in all previous events (carve x pumpkins, kill y molten invaders, build z snowmen and so on)
Me neither. That’s all this post is really about; I was hoping for more fun content vs. going around LA several times to just hit “F” over and over. There’s nothing fun about that, it IS just busy work.
The game devs make poor decisions, then punish the playerbase.
Again.
Kinda like what happened with people who had a lot of ectos and they made those very common…
and recently how they cut down the price of dust to about 1/3 of what it was and screwed over people who had a stack for their legendary, like me…
Anet screws over their players a lot. It’s pretty sad.
You do realize that you’re not required to complete the new achievements, nor are you required to purchase anything from the Gem Store… right? They’re all optional.
Of course. But it’s supposed to be additional, fun content, am I wrong? Honestly their game isn’t even finished or optimized yet and in my opinion they’re wasting their time by adding busy work “content” instead of fixing common complained about topics, like right-mouse click targeting, PvE culling, dungeons, build diversity and class importance, etc.
I’m disappointed that Anet thinks a money sinks, some skins, and grinding achievements, are passable as content..
The skins are decent. Most I think are ugly, but that’s why there are already plenty of skins in the game for different options for different players, so I won’t complain about the skins…except it is ridiculous that it’s complete RNG and luck in order to get these skins.
Then the achievements…like 100 fireworks and 150 pinatas…how are those fun? Running through LA to hit “F” a 250 times on multiple characters or multiple times a day? This is not the excitement or content that I saw in GW1, and definitely did not expect from GW2. All of the content releases so far, with FotM as an exclusion, have been mediocre and, for the most part, temporary.
It seems to be all about the gem store and making money, now….much greedier Anet than the Anet I knew from GW1.
Honestly, it’s ridiculous for them to screw over their players/customers this badly. They did it to me with ectos a few months ago (lost about 60g on them) and now I’ve lost about 30g on the dust change. None of this could be considered my fault either, since things happen while I’m on vacation, at work, etc. Prices really shouldn’t fluctuate that much within the course of a few minutes, hours, or even days.
Dust was a stable price until they nerfed Malchor’s dust farm, and then it got to about 40s, which I agree, it was ridiculous, but then to come home from work the next day and see dust went from 40s to 12s? Plain stupid. I understand the price needed to drop, but you can not do that to your players that quickly or you screw over thousands of people.
Anet’s really making mistakes with this game… If ES:O is any good (which anticipation leads me to believe it will be), Guild Wars 2 is in a lot of trouble.
Once again, Anet, who claims to actually listen to their community and customers, ignores everyone completely. To be completely honest, I think they’ve become arrogant and greedy, focusing on the gem store and how to continuously make money without listening to what their players want…Not the same Anet I knew from GW1.
Dragons make great end bosses…Anet just needs to learn how to make end boss fights better, rather than pushing 2…2….2….2…2…
It runs fractals all the time…and CoF. As it says above in fact. I’ve ran them till my ears bleed. MF sucks. Its just another horribly designed dungeon with poor rewards for time. Although it DOES have one or two slightly more interesting than others boss fights.
I agree. Anything outside of CoF and FotM is dead. They killed AC…I mean honestly, why mess with a dungeon that isn’t broken that people actually run? Mess with broken dungeons like CM that no one does.
And MF really wasn’t that great. Sure, it was fun the first time, I’ll admit, but there was no incentive for me to run it more than that. It was a single-path instance that had poor rewards (besides the lucky few…RNG again..) and it took a long time. I definitely don’t think it was worth the time they put into it.
Anet kinda needs to wake up…their priorities are messed up, and they’re losing players because of it.
I don’t understand why WvW is necessary for map completion. To be honest, I think it’s really stupid and here’s why:
- WvW is PvP with some PvE. Seems ridiculous to need to do PvP for a PvE accomplishment, especially when another player can kill me when trying to get a vista, POI, or skill point.
- It’s bad for PvE-ers because most players who mostly play PvE content don’t want to have to do something in WvW. If a PvE player wanted to do WvW, they’ll do it casually on their own time.
- It’s bad for WvW players because it’s taking up queue times and spaces for servers who actually need players to help attack/defend places.
- It’s horrible that there’s vistas and POIs INSIDE keeps and such that are likely owned by your enemies. This is horrible. Sure, it encourages you to try to take that keep, but neither taking a keep by yourself or managing to get people to help you take a keep are realistic solutions.
- Since my server is ranked #1 (Blackgate), we’ve been green for a few weeks now. This means that many of the red/blue keeps and such are pre-owned by those servers and will remain that way for a majority of the time. On the off-chance that we do own these keeps, I’m usually not online. So this means I will have to wait several weeks (maybe even months) to get into these necessary keeps.
The only thing that I see positive about this is Anet’s attempt to encourage PvE-ers to play WvW, which I honestly don’t even think that works well because if they’re just there for the map completion, that’s all they’ll be trying to do. Please consider removing these waypoints, POIs, vistas, and skill challenges from the required map completion.
I wouldn’t mind the fact of adding a smite monk that is basically a more like a caster-based guardian, but that won’t happen. Their lore is already set on where the monks and paragons went. They influenced each other between the time of GW1 and GW2 and basically merged into the Guardian: A heavy-armored support/heal class.
Arenanet just has they’re priorities messed up and their game is suffering for it. They’re focusing too much on their gem store, the (boring) living story, and PvP. They’re not keeping up with their game as well as they should be, and the population of players is definitely reflecting this.

Arenanet has their priorities so messed up it isn’t even funny.
I really don’t understand why some professions are refused this basic option.
Only the engineer and the elementalist are because their kits and attunements take the place of weapon swap.
But it really doesn’t for elementalist. Engi, kinda, because the kits have different ranges. With ele, you’re stuck at the range of your weapon, which is pretty dumb.
Those were necessary nerfs, because of how broken they were in spvp/tpvp. They still have good survivability, its just not FARRR superior to everyone elses now. Ele isn’t as versatile as engineer since they can pull the kit out whenever but its either high dps or high support with powerful/useful aoes. You can’t get the best of both worlds…
I’m not going to argue whether or not they were necessary nerfs for PvP, but they were definitely not necessary for PvE. It’s really a stupid concept to have to be in close range if that’s what you initiate combat in or to have to stay at long range if that’s what you start with. That’s like saying you’ll give the warrior greatsword and axe/mace for every situation.
It isn’t about the skills. Elementalists really should have a weapon swap, because after the mist form, ride the lightning, and countless other nerfs, why should a d/d be stuck in close-range combat with very low survivability and not be able to back off and hit things from a range? It’s rather a stupid concept, and I play every class, so there’s no bias here.
It’s ridiculous. This page has been up for 7 months, an Anet staff replied 6 months ago, and yet nothing has been done about it. Instead, Anet decides to focus on PvP, buffing warriors, nerfing thieves, elementalists, and engineers, and the pointless, boring Living Story that includes random scavenger hunts and a temporary, single-path story dungeon…
Sorry Anet, but your priorities are seriously messed up.
I will admit, heartseeker can be very powerful when people know how to properly get their target below 50% or 25% quickly and use it. But ok, so they steal in, use their stolen ability, auto-attack a few times, they’re below 50%, so now they spam heartseeker 3 or 4 times, ok, you’re down. Now maybe they stealth and stomp. Wow, you died quick. Ok, well now what is the thief going to do? No steal, no stealth, little initiative…hmm…seems to me another class can now take them down very easily.
Plus, if a class who knows what they’re doing against a thief like this, they can counter it, leaving the thief next to useless without their steal or initiative.
if you dont stop spoiling the overpowered classes you wont be able to balance them because players rely on the broken class’s power rather than skill.
take thief for example and point me one that doesnt spam heartseeker and who can blame them the darn skill hits for up to 4k damage even on bunker builds and has no cooldown .
Heartseeker is really not overpowered. Yes, you can spam it, if you have the initiative required to spam it. In order to have the initiative, you basically have to get your target down the less than 50% in order to make the skill do anything worth it, below 25% if you want to be most efficient. So to be fair, if a thief can get a target down to less than 50% or 25% health without using any initiative, they kinda deserve to beat you down with that last burst from heartseeker.
Edit: Not to mention the fact that it IS single target damage as well…it’s not like it’s AoEing every enemy.
You are trying too hard to defend the class. You either open with a backstab from stealth if target is close or a steal if they are far. If you backstab target is around 50% already. If you steal pre nerf you just took a few k from steal follow with cnd = target below 50%. Fact is if you land your opener your target is blow 50% then spam heartseeker away. if you missed then you just stealth away and try land your opener again.
I play all professions so I really am not trying to defend the class. It really is avoidable; it’s not like any person playing against a thief is going to die if they land their opener or spam heartseeker. With the mug nerf it is much harder to get someone below 50%, and whether it gets them to 75% or even 55%, it’s still above 50% so heartseeker is almost pointless to use at this point. It’s still time to turn the fight around or get away if need be. Obviously thief will kill you pretty easily if you’re not sure how to properly deal with them.
You must not play a thief…Thieves do not trade burst for survivability…they just keep stealthing away…that is what is broken with thieves, they need a longer CD
hahahahaha…with the stealth debuff at 4seconds and stealth not lasting very long in the first place (besides shadow refuge, but you can easily still hit thieves in SR), there’s really no need for a longer CD. If they can get away with that short amount of stealth and you couldn’t kill them, they kinda deserve to get away. They are supposed to be the mobile/stealth class of the game.
if you dont stop spoiling the overpowered classes you wont be able to balance them because players rely on the broken class’s power rather than skill.

2/10 honestly.
Bad:
Sure, the dungeon is fun, but to me it doesn’t seem worth it to run it more than once (unless of course I want to grind for the slim chance of getting anything worth something). Plus there’s only the story mode, and it’s temporary? In my opinion, the time they put into that really wasn’t worth it for such temporary content.
Some class changes were pretty decent, but engi was basically nerfed to crap and ele’s RtL nerf was pointless when they’re nerfing many other things about the ele. If you’re in melee and you take away any sort of secure healing, condition removal, or mobility? Now going D/D really isn’t worth it since they have no weapon swap or anything to attempt to hit things from a distance.
More work on the gem store…sure, I understand this is where they make their money, but it definitely shouldn’t be a priority.
CoF still where it’s at.
Good:
I really like the retaliation animation
I noticed a change with the time on nourishment and such, displaying minutes and seconds, which is nice, but not really necessary.
Party bugs seemed to be fixed.
Overall:
There’s nothing really in this update that wants me to keep playing. It’s not the content or updates that ArenaNet needs to keep this game going.
It really doesn’t even feel like a month’s work of updates, either. I think they really need to pick up their game if they want to keep it running, especially with ES:O coming up…I already know a lot of people are switching to that game as fast as possible.
I definitely agree that RNG favors those who play less. It sounds weird, but it was observed in GW1 when doing an UW/FoW run after being inactive for several months. A guildy of mine just came back after a few months of inactivity, through about 20g in the forge and ended up with a precursor. Another friend who plays less actively has gotten two super GS skins from SAB…it’s possible they’re just very lucky, but I believe inactivity is favored in the RNG.
I will admit to all the blind fanboys, “dying” was an extreme word to use. It definitely isn’t going anywhere for a long time, but the point remains that Anet does not have their priorities where they need to be. Many people are upset at where they are headed, and the decrease in active players shows this (and no I’m not just talking about myself).
The games population has been declining since Nov-ish. Not a surprise considering thats the route most mmos take.
Games population took a big hit in November and it’s been increasing ever since. Servers were expanded recently to deal with an influx of people. How is that decreasing?
Just because the number of players is increasing does not mean the number of active players is increasing. Many ignorant people tend to neglect the fact that activity is different than the number of players. There could be 10,000,000 players, but if they only log in once every week for an hour, that’s different than having 1,000,000 who play several hours every day.
And as for randoms on the forums, I don’t really care what they have to say, whether it’s against me or not. I’m just hoping someone from Anet actually reads posts and listens to their community because if they keep it up like this, their active numbers will continue to decrease.
Edit: Added “active” numbers, which really, is the important part.
Totally agree OP find a new game with things you enjoy, trying to convince people with blind faith in a product will never work.
As for the game dying not sure but from what i’ve seen its drastically declined in the past few months and so many players have taken breaks or moved on..
So each time i see Nerf this and Nerf that with very little content fillers and major mechanics overhauls i see massive groups leave, which doesn’t help the game..
Personally think you’re wasting you effort trying to explain to blind faith player that spend their whole lives on the forum defending a game and never playing it..
Agreed because if it was so wonderful they’d never be on the forums.
Thanks for supporting. These are kinda the views I’ve seen from a large number of players. I would consider myself a very large fan, and I still actively play, but I’m not afraid of admitting to the game’s downfalls and weaknesses.
Whats sad, is that the patch notes for the 30th update isn’t even out yet, you don’t even know what is ACTUALLY happening to the Ele, and yet you are saying you are gonna quit? Please, leave the game then.
He likely watched the State of the Game video, which told everyone all of the big changes to each professions. If you didn’t read this, it’s kinda your fault for not knowing “ACTUALLY” what is happening to ele, or any other class for that matter.
The thing to me is this:
Yes, the cantrips ele build was a little OP and deserves a nerf.
But why Ride the Lightning? Sure, it gives mobility, but now you’re having them in near-melee combat with d/d, with a now easily interrupted heal because of the mist form nerf as well, and less condition removal because of the cantrips nerf? Hmm, doesn’t make much sense to me. If they’re getting nerfed this hard, I don’t see why they shouldn’t be able to have an ability to get out of near melee-ranged combat, especially without the ability to weapon-swap to a longer-ranged option.

My server hasn’t gotten first place in WvW in ages. We’ve been getting second or third overall for a while…(note first tier WvW matchup as well). I didn’t come up with this post from nowhere, I’ve been observing it and talking to many other players (not just from my server) who have seen decreasing activity as well.
Allow me to sum up this thread with a few observations:
“My guild isn’t active anymore, so that means the game is losing players as a whole”
“I can’t find random groups to do dungeons with anymore, so that means no one wants to run dungeons”
“I’m making my claims about player activity declining as a whole. based solely on my own lack of being able to do stuff I wanna do with random people”
How many fallacies can we find here?
Allow me to sum up this comment with a few observations:
“I don’t want to read about his guild, so I’ll assume that his comment on guild activity relates purely to his own”
“I’m too lazy to read about his dungeon section, so I’ll assume that he meant he can’t find a group to play with anymore.”
“I think I’ll make some ridiculous response that includes me in the conversation but really doesn’t make sense according to what was said.”
The game grew every month up until March, since then we have no conformation one way or the other. Claiming the game has been shrinking since launch is a flat out lie.
In terms of numbers, maybe. In terms of activity: unlikely.
Just because your guild & guilds you know are dying, doesn’t mean the game is. My gulf is so large we had to maker an overflow guild. 5 real life friends just joined.
the dragon events are still healthy, & I have no problem finding dungeon groups.
So your experience is not the same as fact.
As I said, large guilds aren’t experiencing this. I mentioned that, if you would have actually read it. Dragon events are still healthy, yes, but they’re boring (quite an understatement), and still less people do them now then compared to a while ago.
I never claimed finding a dungeon group was hard, it still is easy (thanks to gw2lfg.com..), but that doesn’t mean dungeon activity has been stable.
The game improve itself every new patch in the right direction just be patient.
Arguable as well, but for the most part I agree. A lot of their patches have been nerfs, causing friends of mine to actually stop playing some of their classes because of their lack of build variety in PvE due to so many PvP nerfs (Engi, anyone?).
I made this post, mostly in response to the video I posted, actually, because I believe it will help point Anet in the right direction.
Perhaps you’d like to link us your account screen to prove that you’re an experienced player whos explored every facet of the game including 100% map completion, all 3 Order storylines, obtained your legendary and ranked up in both sPvP and WvW?
Grinding for everything highest-tier doesn’t mean there’s tons of great content. Again, please read the post, because as I said, I still enjoy playing this game.
For the record, though, I have leveled all 8 professions to 8 and played through a majority of everything because of this. I do not have 100% map completion quite yet (which I am still working towards, although the hearts are rather boring), and saying that my unluckiness with the precursor is holding me back from a legendary would be an understatement.
