Multiple tiers of weapon skills...

The LZ.7891

In my view it’s a bad idea to add new skills based on levels.
What I suggest, is that you make people EARN their new skills.
If you go to your Hero (H) screen and go to Achievements and then
go to “Slayer” you’ll see that there’s challenges for every weapon.
Such as “Get 500 kills with a Sword”. Therefore, I say, that when players
complete one of these, THEN they unlock a new skill.

Why is this good? Because it eliminates the confusion moreso than what
the OP suggested. For instance, if you’ve ACTUALLY gotten 5,000 kills with
that sword (which is an actual Achievement you can get) then surely
you’ll be familiar with your sword skills by then; enough so as to reward you
with a new skill set perhaps.

This is also logical and adds some “realism” to the game, because in real life, the
more you practice, the better you get; thus I think this might work.

I like your suggestion that you get new weapon skills as you get more kills, but there’s a tiny problem with it. For example as a ranger I don’’t like the skills on my sword, and if I want new sets of skills for it, I have to use it (or dare I say to grind) to get 1000 or more kills to upgrade unlock new skill). This system would be great, but it mustn’t feel like grinding.

Yet isn’t that also adding a little realism? As in, yeah you don’t like it, but like in real life, you have to work for it, if you want something better. Plus, there’s going to be weapons which you do like, thus you’ll level them mostly. I don’t see any harm in not delivering everything in a challenge-free way. Maybe when you’ve got time, you’ll start using that sword perhaps? ^^.

It’s pretty difficult to estimate how many FPS you’ll get, especially
considering that you get different levels of FPS depending on how your
settings are. I think you might be able to get at least 30FPS?

Network Lag [Merged]

The LZ.7891

Hey Everyone.

I know many of you are having lag and that sucks a lot, yes.
However you might be able to check if the problem happens to be
on your end, by using a tool such as Netalyzr

Additionally you can also check out this program which you can choose to
download. It’s very popular and quite safe. It may well just help a little bit for
some of you. It’s called Gamebooster
and through this program, you can turn off the many extra things that tend to
run in the background when you play. Therefore perhaps reducing lag, as well as
increasing FPS (Frames Per Second).

Other than those things, I can also recommend trying to switch to a Wired connection and not Wireless. Wireless can be quite unstable, for many reasons.
Anyhow I’d hope it helps some of you ^^.

American players in EU servers in WvW

I’m an American stationed in Germany with the US Army. I play on Euro servers due to the time zone issue.

When I lived in the states I played with Europeans and never complained. Was actually nice to have people online when I played late nights.

Anyways, I think what I’m getting at is just deal with it and if it’s that big of an issue, change servers?

But he said he didn’t want to change servers as he likes both his server and guild.

Would Exploratory Behavior Be Encouraged if You Could Toggle-Off The Map?

Hey guys.

So what do you think? If you CAN toggle it off, I certainly don’t know
how. But presuming you can’t, would it be good if you could? Exploration is
nice and really great if you get emerged in it. But isn’t just a bit too easy to
just look at your minimap or press M on your keyboard to go to the next heart
or whatnot?

I do agree that many are quite negative, but as many others have
said, you do have to highlight problematic things. What should come of
that, is a highly responsive developement team, that ultimately secures
an even greater level of satisfaction for their players.

I’m glad to see you do ! It’s good with some enthusiasm.

I ADORE the NO subscription formula. It’s so wonderful and
works as a GREAT selling point when you’re trying to get others
to play the game. I’m so thankful for it. Plus, I don’t feel bad if I haven’t
played for X amount of time, since the thought is that I’m then wasting
money, as with other MMO’s.

I also plain love the graphics of the game. I absolutely love playing my Guardian
due to Blue being their color scheme you might say. Blue is my favourite and thus
seeing those shields appear and how they radiate on the battlefield, is just lovely.

Too many things to mention ^^, but I think you got the most of it too, OP.

I don't know what class to make

in Players Helping Players

The LZ.7891

Challenge you say? Rewarding? Ah.
Simply pick the Guardian then, as they have no ranged options
except very poor ones (compared to everyone else) and that brings
great reward if you manage to make it in PVP with that. Rofl ^^.
I don’t think anyone can answer this for you really… All classes can be/are
rewarding/challenging in their own way. . . I for one picked a Guardian because
I liked the thought of being an asset to the people around me.

Is Crafting ill-represented on guildwars2.com ?

The LZ.7891

Hiya

When I first checked out GW, I naturally didn’t think of crafting
as the first thing. However, I’ve been playing now and I’ve started
doing some crafting. Looking at the site though, you’d think it didn’t
exist. What I mean by this, is that it seems (at first glance) to be a feature
which has been downplayed. When you hover your mouse over where
it says “The Game” I think there ought to be a menu point dedicated to crafting.

Currently I’m not finding it very easy to craft, I have to be admit. Especially
compared to SWTOR. From a relative beginners perspective, crafting doesn’t
seem to have such high visibility.

Thoughts?

Remove Aegis Visual Effect When Not In Combat

The LZ.7891

While I can see where you’re coming from, I personally
have no problem with it. It’s pretty beautiful I think.
However, being able to toggle the effect on or off could be
an idea; afterall, opponents are still able to see whether you
have your Aegis activated by clicking you. Yet, I think it’s partly
necessary, as it serves as a visual clue as to whether or not your
next (perhaps High-CoolDown & High-Damage Ability) gets completely
negated or not.
