I’m a lady thief
what hat is that? :O!!
(edited by Tyr.6097)
Currently running around with this setup. Simply elegant and shiny.
Pls change the face of your thief. It looks scary on a female and it would look normal on a male . Because I think its a male face.
Something is really wrong with you if you feel this face would resemble a male one.
- Rifle
- Offhand Sword
No magic things like focus, scepter, staff etc. Torch doesn’t feel good for someone who hides in shadows. Longbows could be another option, but we also have a shortbow, so it would be a bit redundant.

In WOW i loved the Challange I liked playing good and proofing that to myself.
I played WoW nearly 10 years and it became worse as kitten. 95% of content is handholding easy crap except some of the hardmode encounters (which aren’t really hard personally, but hard for the whole group to play).
My main complaint about cluster bomb is that the projectile is so slow that is almost useless at max range.
This. It’s annoying that the projectiles are so slow right now.
As long as I get my rifle.
This…. so much
1) Add a menu, where you can change and store your gear and trait setup, which can be activated via keybind. It’s annoying to open the bag and pulling every single item manually into the slots, especially in dungeons where you are switching between trash and bosses.
2) Push up the amount of stacks for gathering tools (mining pick etc.)
3) Add a “teleport to group member” option in WvW where you can teleport once every 30 minutes to a teammember which is far away from you.
Steal (traited to cause damage on use) → Cloak and Dagger (damage + stealth) → Backstab (stealth ability)
Is a ’’rock’’ really justified to have once every 45 seconds or so?
( •_•) Yes,…
( •_•)>o-o because it’s….
( -o_o) Elemental!
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
Introducing a sword offhand.
I’d like to know as well. I love using D/D with Backstab crits and Cloak & Dagger, but I just need something more effective for multiple mobs.
Shortbow.
Sad that Shortbow gameplay is clunky, slow and boring….. :/
Go down the map to the crossroad south of stonekraag Kraal (near the heart to help androchus). There is a charr who starts the event to retake it. It’s not a bug that the gate could not be attacked. The event must be started.
I disagree with the most points in the article.
I think, it’s intended that no real guidance exists for professions. Players should be engaged to discover things on it’s own rather then a guide that tells them how it works. It’s a part of gaming experience that would toned down if everything is discovered by design.
Either leveling and Events. I can’t see any problems in there. Every zone offers many things to do to raise up the experience bar, i never had problems to level up and the way how this is implemented. It’s refreshing not to have a common thread where you have to go.
All in all the article screams to an overall guide for everything or an implementation of a themed gaming platform. This is sadly a sort of mistake by the time how mmorpgs have been developed. Look on WoW, this game is an entire guide to all that exists in the game. There is no space for your own creativity, everything is predetermined.
I’m happy that gw2 feels different in this case.
It’s fine. Other classes using vanish, pushback or something else to get away. Lick Wounds is also not ready immidiately so it’s not hard to counter.
I bought a full set of the following piece and added the Ranger runeset:

I think we have bigger issues than the aesthetics of longbow skills, don’t you?
Many people undervalue gameplay aesthetics. It’s quite fun to see some special effects that are placed in scene. Aion was giving a blast, it felt fast, dynamic and awesome. Sure it’s only visual, but it give a response for a better gameplay feeling. And feeling is important.
It is annoying. Though I am sure the fix isn’t as easy as
If (longbow range >= 1200)
autoattack == true; :P
Easier:
autoattack = longbow_range <= 1500 ? true : false;
:p
So I have a great build, it’s better than all the builds combined, but I am not happy…
Melee isn’t my thing, Rangers are supposed to be “RANGED” and aren’t.
For the bazillionth time, that is not what the term “Ranger” means. At all.
Having said that, it’s frustrating that Longbows are so mediocre. It’s entirely due to a gimpy animation/recovery IMO making the #1 skill do less DPS than it’s supposed to.
i agree ranger dose not mean range. but with that said here are the two different descriptions of the ranger.
Rangers rely on a keen eye, a steady hand, and the power of nature itself. With their deadly ranged skills and a stable of loyal pets at their command, rangers can adapt to any situation.
Rangers rely on a keen eye, a steady hand, and the power of nature itself.Unparalleled archers, rangers are capable of bringing down foes from a distance with their bows. With traps, nature spirits, and a stable of loyal pets at their command, rangers can adapt to any situation.
so by anets description it sound like rangers are primarily ranged but can swap to melle to adapt to the situation. this just isn’t the case. rangers are pretty weak with bows.
Rangers are defined primary as ranged by a-net. For example: have you ever seen an official ranger wallpaper with melee weapons? The profession description says: Bows / Spirits / Traps. The addition “Rangers can adapt to any situation” means, that we “can” go in meleecombat, but overall, every aspect of this profession screams that our primary weapon is the bow.

PS. Tyr, could you tell me the colors of your armor? It looks freaking amazing.
Full ebony dye. ^^
If rangers had rifles then engineers would have to have bows, and that makes even less sense. Besides, guns would scare our pets away!
Pets can be trained for not being scary about rifles
on topic: yes, i would like to have one too. But our ungabunga Plateogres are favored in classdesign so it won’t happen…
Maybe i do something wrong, but i’ve leveled a medium armor class, because of it’s looks… o.O
Here’s my Jon. Still need to get the tier 3 leggins and boots and I have no idea what pauldrons to wear. Any suggestions?
How about Outlaw Shoulderpads? (see attached image)
Is there a way to get the Vigil Leggings after i chose the “wrong story” ?
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/PvP_Vigil_armor_
Unfortunately you can only use it in sPVP.
For the skin: you can buy the vigil armor with another character who is a vigil member and use transmutation stones to transfer the skin to an account bound item.
playing wow till its fixed, not waisting any more time on a broken character, thats been almost 3 months waiting to be fix… Its this slow progress that Bliz> ArenaNet
Never going to play WoW again. I mean come on, that would be like moving back to mom´s house because the shower doesn´t work properly…
Thanks for the lough!
Here’s my gal, dressed for warfare ^^ She’s a skirmishing trap ranger and beastmaster who’s fond of her pet raven, jaguar and polar bear. She likes to get her hands dirty with a great sword generally, though uses an axe and warhorn as a backup….sometimes she even uses a bow.
What a set is that?
Standard Duelist Armor. (with other boots / shoulders i think….)

I would like to add another point:
7. NO PET BODYPULLS. It sucks to run in an area and try to be careful, but your pet is pulling mobs that you don’t want to attack.
Hide Your pet m8 and let the programmers work on something more important.
Great news BTW.
Out of combat speed was no.1 on my “need to have” list.
Then, gimme a keybind to hide the pet. I hate clicking :P
PETS
1. AoE midigation maybe 25% or so.
2. gain a small amount of stats based off ranger stats.
3. move faster without having to waste a major trait.
4. more responsive attack command and f2 abilities, shorter windup for attacks.
5. lower pet damage say maybe 25 or 30% and increase rangers damage an appropriate amount to make up for it. this will give rangers more control over their damage and help out in situations where pets are useless such as tower/keep siege/def.
6. stop the pets from forgetting their names.
I would like to add another point:
7. NO PET BODYPULLS. It sucks to run in an area and try to be careful, but your pet is pulling mobs that you don’t want to attack.
I rerolled from thief to guardian and then to ranger. Call me masochistic but i love my range guy
Agreed. Signet of the hunt needs to and will go to 25%.
Very nice, thanks! <3
Which legendary are you going for and why?
I’ll go for the GS. I like the idea of a mid armor class wielding a big two hander. Also the GS fits with my personal taste. I don’t want to pay so much effort for a skin, that i don’t like.
And i don’t like unicorns and rainbows, but when i do, i’m running in pinky pants.
My Ranger. Love the look. Funny headpiece after buggy transmutation. (random mask + thief starter hood). Go A-Net make a headpiece like this.
Then some people should play a Warrior using a rifle or a bow, an Engineer, or a Thief with a shortbow. There’s your choice to use a pet or not. Rangers are designed as a pet class, that’s how ANet intends for them to be played.
Some people don’t like the plate classes, and thiefs are not the same like rangers.
I don’t understand why people purposefully want to nerf themselves by not using a pet.
Second, pets are the Ranger class mechanic. It’s not like the game or any of the written material at any point leads you astray or suggests otherwise, so if you willfully chose the Ranger class knowing that you don’t like playing a pet class… I’m not really sure what say.
It’s like ordering a cheeseburger then complaining that you like everything except the cheese, but you definitely don’t want a hamburger. You want a cheeseburger.
Maybe some people want to play a marksman without a pet? Most of mmos are giving ranger classes stupid pets because it’s cool. Whats your problem to have the choice to use a pet or not?
It’s quite nice. But whats happend to the run animation while holding the greatsword? Ugly as hell…..
Guys, we’re fine. Look here, the buff for warriors was important!
