Weilding an Incinerator as an Offhand doesn’t give the full effect that it’s supposed to.
The effect in question: Initially upon weilding/drawing out the Incinerator, your character is supposed to be surrounded by a swirl of flames. This doesn’t happen if it’s worn in the offhand slot.
Why is this? I just made my Incinerator today and found out that you don’t even get the full effect if it isn’t in your main hand. Please fix :/
I agree. I have decent solutions such as:
1. Make AoE damage against pets much lower in PvE, and slightly lower in PvP.
2. Give pets a new set of skills while in “passive” like a personal buff to the ranger in the forms of damage, protection, precision, etc. etc. in order to still be effective while keeping them next to you and out of combat to avoid OHKO AoE’s.
3. Have pets “evade” when you dodge roll, or add the skill to the pet bar.
There are of course many more. Not sure why the devs are so content right now with the sate Ranger pets are in. They are in need to a revamp….soon.
@ #2. Or if a pet is on “Avoid combat” their f2 abilities should have a 25-50% shorter cd
They aren’t entirely useless. I used Siamoth to get a ectoplasm right before the fight and, when he died, kept him dead until I had to switch to my brown bear for a condition removal.
So they were useful…kinda?

To be honest, there really isn’t an issue with balance here. I’ve looked over a lot of posts about the gauntlet’s content being too difficult for certain classes, with some even claiming it’s -impossible- for certain classes, but I have to respectfully disagree. While the Liadri fight is certainly tough, I don’t think any one class has it easier than another. I think it comes down to the -player- having it easier over other players. Sure, guardians, mesmers and the like have access to built-in mechanics that allow them to completely ignore damage, but timing is still crucial with these, and many players that main these classes are still struggling.
Me? I main a Necro, and it took me a few tries, but I was able to beat Liadri myself, using only the two dodges my class is equipped with and no other real damage prevention mechanics. Just to note, I never once had to change my build or slot skills for this. I used the same 30/25/0/0/15 set-up with full berserker from tier 1 all the way to tier 3. So, while I agree this content is challenging, I think it’s silly that people are complaining about it being impossible or ‘too difficult’. The current level of difficulty for the gauntlet bosses is what A-Net likely intended it to be. While some people might be able to finish it quickly, it might take others a bit longer. As Chopps said, a lot of people are probably used to instant gratification. A lot fo what A-Net has done in the past has encouraged instant gratification, with many meta achievements being able to be accomplished through a few hours of grinding out content. This is different. It doesn’t involve any grind—it involves skill.
Well, as a Ranger, it isn’t fair that half your damage is out the window during the Liadri fight due to developers wanting to constantly make 1-hit-Aoe-mechanics.

I agree. It isn’t easy and we should feel important! Something like “Champion of the Gauntlet” would fit nicely in the world of Tyria.
A Title for beating Liadra. yes! A Title for completing all Gauntlet Achievements including the other Liadri one. No!
Careful, too many titles will make titles themselves meaningless and try not to confuse titles with achievements.
Also, and this is probably the most important, giving titles for temporary content is meaningless;
Titles are given to people (in the real world) for being someone important.
They are important because they are either of these;
1) They fulfill an important and persistent role (King, Queen, War Commander etc.)
2) Through sustained effort and subsequent contribution to society, they have earned this persistent title (“Sir” (Knighthood) or say, ‘Nobel Prize Winner’)Giving titles for a one-time-only ‘achievement’, that no-one else can ever aspire to achieve or even learn the meaning of the title months or years later is, well, out-of-place.
Titles are also given to Honor difficult feats. I think this was a pretty difficult feat!
I’d have to disagree. Being one shot is a very basic mechanic that invokes players to think and memorize patterns which can be seen as challenging.

But I’ve heard… terrible things… xD Should be interesting. I’m running a tanky DS Necro, so I’ll have to see if my damage is enough.

I…finally….whezze…did it.
I beat her.
I didn’t think it was even possible…but I never gave up! I went through 11 entirely different approaches with about 10-15 attempts with each build, totalling over 110-165 attempts! But the build that won me my prestigious mini was a condition duration spec. I focused into about 60% Condi duration through traits and food and kept nailing her with Torch #4 , #5, and flame trap all while kiting and curing conditions with healing spring everytime she crippled me. I never turned around (run run run!) unless I had to destroy a gravity orb. Though, when I did turn around to destroy a orb I would make sure to hit her with a splitblade!
-To destroy the orbs I used a jumping Torch#4 if it was far away and Torch#5 if it was close-
So, after running around in circles for the whole duration she finally collapsed in a burst of flames. Victory!
Verdict: Even though it’s an extreme pain to accomplish, it’s worth it in the end- so don’t quit!
With that, I want to wish good luck to all my fellow Rangers and anyone else who attempts to claim Liadri for themselves!

As a ranger, the only reliable melee weapon I have is the greatsword. Which isn’t saying much since the swoop isn’t even an evade.
Attempting to hit the gravity orb with certain range attacks, during the final fight, will give you an “obstructed” message.
It seems its only certain ranged attacks.
I think she should have a 3minute time limit
Everytime I try to hit the gravity orb it reads “obstructed”. Was this intentional?
I really hope that they make the scavenger difficult and long enough that players will still think that the 600g or so to buy some precursors is a suitable alternative.
i.e. includes:
-10,000 WvW kills
-90 laurels
-50 guild commendations
-dungeon master
-50 SPvP Tourneys+ a whole list of scavenger item requirements that can only be acquired through beating tough bosses, acquired at different times at the day, and through solo and team work.
No to guild commendations.
-Not everyone is in a guild.
-Not everyone wants to be in a guild
-Not everyone that is in a guild is in a large enough guild to acquire this.
-Not everyone that is in a large enough guild has the desire to do guild missions at all.
-Not every guild does guild missions, even if they can.Absolute no to guild commendations. If I dont want to do guild missions, thats how I want to play…i.e. the whole theme of the game. So don’t force me to do that.
This can be said about anything in the game. If content was catered solely on what people want and not what the game needs, then the game would never move forward.

Egads, please make them mutable before enabling them in wvw! I want to be able to hear skills being used in wvw, but I will turn down sound effects to zero if groups are running around with 10+ people blowing these horrible horns. For me, they ONLY make the game less enjoyable.

I would like to see more armor that covers the Charr’s tail.
Some things that could be used: Metal plates, Vegetation, Steam, Smoke, Bones,
Cloth Wrapping, Fire (for all classes).

just happened again in a pvp tournament. SPVP. You know, where everyone is supposed to be on an “Even” playing field?
No mod reply yet? It still hasn’t been fixed. It’s pretty sad that this bug still exists from the beta event.
I went to loot it yesterday and nothing happened. Tixx also said that a citizen can only loot it once.
