The daily achies aren’t that big of a problem. It will need two season to achieve, sure.

I think the League Division achi is worse. You need to get through 10 division (4+3+2+1), which means you gotta earn Legendary division in two season.

Not a problem? They are the only problem. At least it isn’t a hard gate. If you were to get to legendary and rank inside legendary, you could complete that achievement in a single season. Not a hard-time gate.

Pet damage needs to build Astral Force and so does Regeneration

Beta Weekend Druid Feedback Thread

in Ranger

Posted by: Vatlaaw Fierceshot.5713

Vatlaaw Fierceshot.5713

Why isn’t regeneration considered" healing"?

Regeneration is a boon that grants healing over time.

Healing is a gameplay mechanic of replenishing health of the player or allies.

So why doesn’t it trigger the Druid traits or interact with Astral Force?

Traits in question that do not trigger with regeneration:

Live Vicariously – When you heal an ally, you are also healed.
Natural Mender – Increase outgoing healing whenever you heal another ally.
Lingering Light – Healing an ally creates a wisp that orbits you and heals allies it touches.

Concerning Astral Force:

Astral Force is generated when healing or doing damage. It has already been pointed out that regeneration is a form of healing. Thus, regeneration should generate astral force.

TL;DR: Regeneration is a form of healing. Thus, it should interact with the traits and should generate astral force.

Prestige mode and prestige points!

Vatlaaw Fierceshot.5713

I don’t quite understand your first point about it being similar to laurels. Think prestige like in cod. It’s purely cosmetic and a grind for titles, skins, and other prestigious items; hence “prestige mode/levels”.

Now that just sounds like Achievement points.

That’s why it would be limited to max level players and, of course, the prestigious items would be totally different than what you find at the laurel vendor. As for the karma, gold, and magic find; they would be large sums of permanent account bonuses- again something you cannot find at a laurel vendor.

Again: What makes level 80 so prestigious? And wait… you’re seriously suggesting >20% passive bonuses to GF/MF/Karma?

I didn’t say you couldn’t do old content with the current system. But right now, there’s little reason to. With that being said, I don’t see the harm in Introducing a system that entices players even more to revisit old content. Also, I am confused as to how one would be a “OP powerhouse” if their effective level and stats were to be reset to that of a level 1?

So first you say that you want to play with your friends… and then you say that playing with your friends is not reason enough? You know, that would have worked in a game that did not scale levels (thus requiring rolling an alt with them), but that doesn’t make much sense in this game.

I can understand how one would make that connection seeing as how they are both reward systems. But in no way is it going to be like achievment points- you won’t be restricted to specific tasks. You would just have to level to 80 again- anyway you want.

I’m sure we can all agree that reaching max level in any game holds some kind of prestigious weight. With that being said, one would only become more prestigious the more times they’ve hit max level- just like any other game with a prestigious ranking system.

The main idea of that point was to have fun.
Right now, old maps (mostly maps of mid to lower level) content isn’t very appealing and has very little reward. But if you construct a sytem around it with appealing stuff to be rewarded to those who want it, then it becomes another outlet for people to enjoy themselves in the game- all parts of it.

I’ll answer your question with one of my own. If a friend asks you to come over for a visit would you, if you could, bring something like some gum to chew or a couple smokes or a coke to sip on while you’re there? The idea here is to simply add to the experience. That is all. Please, I don’t want this to become an argument about morals, friendship, personal motives, etc.

Imagine a store full of awesome goodies like New weapon/armor skins, Permanent gold/magic/karma find, Exclusive Mini pets, Exclusive tonics, Exclusive recipes, Titles, etc at the cost of prestige points!

Laurels offer tonics, pets and permanent gold/magic/karma increase in the form of an infusion.

Method 1: Prestige points would be unlocked by leveling 80 times past level 80. Progress would be tracked under the achievement tab.

Method 2: Effective level reset to 1. Re-play old content with low level guildies and revisit everything and have some fun! Prestige point unlocked as soon as level 80 is reached again.

  1. How would this be any different from Laurels, except being locked to level 80? And why should it be locked to level 80 in the first place? What’s it about the level cap that makes it “prestigious”?
  2. We already have a pretty decent level scaler and you can totally do old content without being an OP powerhouse.

Thanks folks lots of really great ideas, concepts and discussion here!

I think the biggest thing I was trying to get at with my question is: what should the journey towards an alternative system of horizontal progression really be like?

Folks talked a lot about different ways you could say acquire skills other than the current system, but that’s really more a change to an existing skill acquisition system, as opposed to the journey of unlocking something like an advanced profession (or masteries) as some of you discussed.

Say for example, we decided to allow your profession to gain an additional mastery as Nike and Chuggs in particular discussed above. I think we have a lot of fun ideas in here for the journey unlock specific aspects of that mastery, but what if you first had to unlock the core “mastery” track, which then allowed you collect the smaller components? What kind of experience do you think would be compelling here as an over-all journey?

Some of the ideas I’ve really enjoyed so far from this thread include ->

  • Additional story lines with your orders that allow you complete or unlock new masteries/abilities.
  • Adding new content to the existing maps (or re-using existing moments) that serves the purpose of being a bit like skill challenges, content on demand that allows you to overcome challenges to allow you unlock various abilities/masteries.

A lot of the ideas boiled down into variations of one of these two options, and really both have a lot of cool concepts and ideas. Can folks think of anything else that’s a bit more outside the box for something bigger?

You could implement a faction system similar to gw1 where much of the content was unlocked through lifetime/current faction points. This flexable system allows for a variety of content to be added to all aspects of the game: PvE, sPvP, and WvW through the addition of Faction-themed content such as: WvW Objectives, GvG’s, Dungeons, World Bosses/Events, LS, and Different sPvP game types.

ORDERS AND CHAOS
We can work together without surrendering our unique strengths. We can beat this thing without losing who we are. — Almorra Soulkeeper

As Primordius reveals the true extent of its molten grasp, the Three Orders of Tyria rally to strike back against the devastating legacy of ‘Briar’s Folly’. Join us as GuildWars 2 unveils the rise of new heroes as the war against the Elder Dragons enters a new and terrifying phase in this permanent Living World release.

Fulfill Your Oath
Choosing to take your place within one of Tyria’s three Great Orders is one of the most important steps along your heroic journey. Now that decision offers you greater chances for heroism and recognition than ever before. New multi-tiered Renown achievements will record your service, allowing you to advance through the ranks of those to whom you have given your allegiance and with whom you have found common cause in stopping the Elder Dragons. Each Order’s headquarters takes on new importance as the nerve center for dozens of active operations. Visit the Vigils’ War Room, the Priory’s Living Archive, or the Whispers’ Apple Cellar to pick up special weekly and monthly assignments. Or take to the field directly: new and existing Dynamic Events have been flagged as ‘Order Events’. Character’s whose choice of Order matches these events now gain an additional 15% karma reward for advancing the goals of their Order and once per day per character these events contribute to your Renown. Many of the new events can only be initiated by players in that Oder, allowing you to interact with your allies in never before seen ways. Reach out to new operatives, command new subordinates, and correspond with new colleges as you uncover tasks and secrets unique to each Order.

More Than Soldiers
While armed conflict is a part of every Order’s struggle against the Elder Dragons, members must never forget those things that make them unique. Orchestrate a network of spies and wield the hidden blade of diplomacy on behalf of the order of Whispers. Give your service to aid and rescue missions as the Vigil also upholds their commitment to charity and the belief they must protect not only lives but the dignity of the people of Tyria. Partake in secret experiments and unlock ancient puzzles as the Durmond Priory turns forgotten lore into practical solutions. Each path offers an entirely separate viewpoint on the trials of this Age.

Victories Must Be Celebrated
These are grim times but hope still burns brightly. Show off your commitment to the struggle and your chosen path against Evil with new titles, deals on Order-themed dyes and even new dye colors reserved for the upper ranks of each Order. Learn new recipes to create account-bound weapon and armor skins. As your star rises, new areas of each Order headquarters become accessible where the secret lore and history of your Order is preserved. Enjoy access to new vendors who will exchange karma for potent gear. Relax between battles with Order-themed consumables and town-clothes. Redecorate you home instance with subtle hints of your allegiance, earn new harvestable resource nodes, or even install a portal to take you directly to and from your Order’s headquarters. You can even gain new battle cries and dialogue that signal your allegiance!

I’ve read a lot of your posts throughout this CDI and I’d have to say that a lot of your ideas sound extremely fun and cool. Keep em’ comming; I hope Anet is taking notes!

I’d have to agree that the following three focuses are the most vital in improving the game:

— Role Diversification: New skills/traits, new weapons, access to inaccessible existing weapons, infusions and hybrid professions.

— Sociopolitical Diversification: Player housing, Guild Halls, and Faction Alliances leading to new game play opportunities, rewards and content.

— Hero Recognition: Unique Skins, Titles, Rewards, followers and NPC reactions/opportunities based on the players individual feats in the world of Tyria regardless of how he/she chooses to play the game.

But as for which one of the three that I think ArenaNet should prioritize on is " Role Diversification " , hands down. This is was THE defining characteristic of Guild Wars and I would love to see it make a comeback.

Rift has bad camera angles and a bad interface? At least it has a highly adjustable interface, what can you do with gw2, oh thats right nothing, i hate neverwinter because you feel pressured to buy zen, but saying that games art work and combat system is inferior is a joke, its ok 2014 is here, this place will be a ghost town buy summer, gw2 had 0 real competition last year, this year will be different.

I dont dislike this game, but acting like its the best thing since sliced bread is pretty stupid.

- if you have not noticed, the single most telling thing about gw2 success is how now all upcoming companies are trying to copy some parts of it to integrate into their own creations instead of trying to continue to copy wow.

Why do you want new maps?

in Living World

Posted by: Vatlaaw Fierceshot.5713

Vatlaaw Fierceshot.5713

Guild Wars keeps me through living story. I’d rather have new content every two weeks for something new, novel and of a short duration, as opposed to a year or more of utter stagnance for a new map to be developed, designed, tested and implemented (as well as all of the additional content a new zone demands). Yes, I would love to see the entirety of the world map unveiled, however not at the expense of LS. Exploring a new zone is definitely fun and exciting, but that excitement is about as lasting as a new LS release. I’ve played the other games with new maps every 1-2 years with expansions, and new zones don’t have a lasting draw to the community aside from dailies or farming mats (which coincide with a raised level cap, new crafting recipes, vertical gear progression, etc). There is also little change between expansions, they add dungeons, raids, and daily quests, but everything can be obtained/completed (at a reasonable pace) within a fairly short amount of time – obviously much faster for those who don’t savor content – and shortly thereafter, people return to the original populous zones (after their dailies) and continue to repeat the same content (raids, dungeons, dailies) until the next expansion or they burn out/level an alt. There is very little else to break up the monotony in the meantime.

Were GW2 to abandon LS entirely and focus their resources on a new zone, they could add a series of events and perhaps it’d wind up like another Frostgorge and thus see some consistent use, but we would give up all content updates aside from small bug fixing updates every few months, for the duration of a year or more. No change, nothing new, whatsoever. Perhaps some players would enjoy that, and the game itself, unchanging would suffice – however in my experience, the shine of a new zone wears off about as quickly as it does with LS. Thus the beauty of LS; it only lasts a short duration, usually timed at about when the novelty fades. The LS may drive some players away – nearly every other MMO lacks that particular feature, and may appeal to said players – however the LS cycles are a draw for some of us as well, those of us who want new changes on a regular basis to shake things up a bit after the staid monotony of other games. That is what drew me back to GW2. I don’t even mind having missed 6-7 months of LS releases – because more are coming.

A new zone will offer some new events, hearts, additional resource nodes, and opportunity for exploration – and perhaps I’m less of an explorer, but once the hearts are completed, how much time would one likely spend there, after fully completing it, without a champ train or something like the temple events? Even on a large server, it’s at times hard to muster up a crowd for those in Orr. If we got another Brisban Wildlands, Harathi Hinterlands, or Blazeridge Steppes, how often would you truly spend your time there, having completed the zone?

I agree fully.

I think the general idea of a skin locker is great but what I don’t agree with is it containing infinite amounts of unlocked content for free if you just own the skin. I think there should be a price associated with the replication of skins from the locker or the addition of skins to the locker. This would make it a more interesting feature while also allowing for somewhat meaningful decisions to take place.

With that being said, I have two ideas.

One, is that the locker works on a charging system where, everytime you use it, the “charge” on the locker decreases until depleted. Do I create a copy of X armor for my new build or do I create skins for my low level alts before depleting the charge and having to wait for it to recharge thorugh other means? Locker can be “recharged” with Karma, mystic coins, skill points, etc. The more valuable the skin, the more it takes away from your “charge” pool.

Or two, you could make it where players have to “inscribe” every piece of armor that they want added to their locker by using Karma, mystic coins, skill points, etc. The more valuable the armor skin, the more it costs to inscribe.

I figure I’d add my 2 cents since it seems like such a great oppurtunity to do so.

Solutions

  • Separate the concept of (ascended) gear crafting from the concept of equipment stat customisation. Make it easy or easier to change stats, or at the very least, to craft new copies of the same gear with different stats.

There are some good ideas here which I would like to see us discussing as a group.

What do you all think about these ideas?

Chris

I have kinda a problem with this.
I know that there is or soon will be in gemstore an item that allows stat changing. (datamined)

So I kinda see it like this: We get extreamly money consuming armor and istead of making another copy of it we can do a one time stat change – so you just kinda created yourself a market for new item that was already datamined like 5 months ago.

It looks really bad for me.

I kinda would have a nice solution to back it up:
Make an item (gem shop item of corse) that will one time add another stat combo to an item.
How should it work.
I will craft berserker gear but I will think “wait on WvW I would use soldger” so I buy that new item and add soldger to the item and I will get list of 2 stats I can change on the item. I will then think, Carrion or Rabid could be also nice for come builds, so I will buy that new item 2 times and I will have ascended item that can choose stats from the list of 4. (or make them have choice ot 2 stats and add more to the list with gemstore item?)

That would be something I could place my money on and if it was only doable for ascneded those would be kinda (limited legendar like) and so they would have some meaning in making with the cost of them, because now they are way more like an eyesore.

I have read the posts. And I will specifically comment on them why I get to them in the order I am parsing through the thread. My point was for everyone to have a focused discussion around this. The point of the CDI is for us all to brainstorm not just Devs and single participants. I hope this makes sense.

Chris

It sure does.

I like this idea A LOT. Then I wouldn’t have to get multiple ascended armor sets for 1 character every time I want to run a different build. This would also cut down on armor taking up way too much room in storage. I would definitely be willing to buy this item. In addition, since it would cost gems per stat combo option, people who have legendary weapons shouldn’t complain as much about this.

This suggestion
1 reduces grind if you want multiple stat sets
2 gives ANET an incentive to make it (gems)
3 wouldn’t be a requirement, but would be convenient

Yes it is really nice idea. If it wouldn’t cost gems worth 100g or i wouldn’t have to buy one for every single item it would be great :-)

You could also make these upgrades availble in game for karma? We need a karma sink and who wouldn’t want to spend their karma on this?

CDI- Character Progression- Vertical

Now, jumping right into horizontal progression. Can the ArenaNet designers begin to design a game that incorporates the orders that we joined in our personal story. The designers may already be doing this to some degree, but it is my opinion that it is lightly used.

You may recall that in the first Guild Wars there were two factions. I believe they were called the Luxons and the Kurzacks. In that game it was possible to compete quest for a particular faction. Doing so resulted in rewards such as special armor and weapons. I would like to see the orders work in a similar fashion (or if no one likes the orders, then create some new factions for us to be a part of. I just pick the orders because there already in the game and I like that incorporates the personal story back into the game)

Also, I believe it would be great if completing quest didnt stop at skin and title rewards. If npc’s in the world could react to you based on which order you joined that would be cool as well. Have npc’s sell you cheaper food based on the order your in. For example, the vigil could sell you cheaper food that has power at its base, where the order of whispers could sell you items that deal with vigor or stealth. Discount food has already been done in game. The dragon bash festival introduced food that could be bought with candy (which is basically another currency when you get down to it) The food had buffs similar to that of food that was already in the game it just didnt last as long. Please dont stop at just food, Im just using this as an example.

Maybe put some animosity between some of the orders and provide us with some conflict we can participate in. Thats all Ive come up with for now. Anyone else have any ideas?

Would this kind of ‘Faction’ progression outside of how NPC’s perceive you in the world allow you access to exclusive Faction based rewards? Would this be grindy?

I like the base idea a lot and obviously it is something we could build in and thus am keen to hear the thoughts of everyone in regard to this?

Chris

Exclusive Faction based rewards: Yes, please! Also, would faction alliance be account bound, server bound, guild bound, or character bound?

Would this be grindy: That depends on a few factors. How long does it take before I reach said goal? Is it fun? Are the rewards reasonable for time spent? Is it worth it? Is it time gated? Am I forced to do it?

Those were absolutely amazing! Especially during the final scence when the tower exploded! I want to see more of that.
