Well, the /stuck command helps. From what the player in the game told me, it unlocks the waypoints so you can teleport to the nearest one when you’re inside the geometry.

That’s what i did at least. It may have just unlocked by itself, but i don’t know. Since the combat didn’t end, i doubt it would have let me teleport away without using that command.

But if that doesn’t work, it’s helpful to know other tricks. Thank you!

As good as the tricks may be though, that’s not the solution to the problem. ArenaNet needs to fix this. I use that Phase retreat a lot and it’s not fun when it bugs out. Not just teleporting into walls, but not teleporting away at all…

Idk, sometimes when i’m back against a wall it teleports me right where i’m standing, thus preventing being stuck in a wall, and other times, i’m in a wall. Then on the flat terrain it does the same thing. Sometimes it works as it should (i get to escape the hit when timed correctly), and other times i teleport to where i’m standing when there’s absolutely nothing behing me preventing the retreat.

Thanks for the tip. I allready got out just now. Someone said to use /stuck command, then i could teleport out.

This still needs to be fixed though… It’s not the first time it happened to me.
That skill doesn’t even work as it should most of the time. It’s supposed to teleport me backwards and leave a clone behind. Sometimes it just teleports me right where i’m standing. That’s really helpful. :/

Really ArenaNet? Teleportation is my main skill and lately i’m really afraid to use it…

Right now i’m in game stuck in a wall because i used the staff skill Phase retreat, but this also works with Blink if i use it on objects. I used it once on a nearby controllable turret in combat, didn’t really look where i was pointing and ended up in it. Later i tried it again and really, same thing. Luckily i could get out. Now i can’t.

Now what??? There’s combat nearby, and even though my character is not in combat, i can’t teleport to a waypoint.

When i log out and log back in i’m still in the wall. Fix this ASAP, it’s not pleasant if i can’t count on my skill to work. What if i do a dungeon and end up in a wall?

I’m looking for a guild on the underworld server. Unfortunately i can’t change servers just like that, because i don’t have any gems, so Underworld guilds take priority.

I’m a new enough player, with my first character being a lvl 50 Charr Mesmer.

I’m mostly active every day, unless i have some real life stuff to do that takes priority, but this is the only game i play so you can consider me being active more or less on a daily basis, but i’m more like a casual player.

I like just about anything this game has to offer, so whatever you need doing, if i’m online, i’m in, be it dungeons, questing, events. I haven’t played much or any PvP or WvW yet, but i’m planing on it. I did a few PvP matches and just a stroll through the WvW map once and that’s it to be honest,. I’m still discovering the game though, so i wouldn’t mind a guild that’s helpful and can answer a question now and then. No pressure though.

Due to some real life stuff taking priority i can’t really be a hardcore gamer, so i’m afraid i probably wouldn’t be good in a hardcore guild. I just want an active and fun guild to broaden my experience with the game.

My main language is Croatian, but i speak English, and some German, and my timezone is UTC/GMT +1 hour.

Well if you need to know something else just ask, but i think i told everything. Hope to hear from some guilds that would like to have me.

Developers don’t port the game to linux because there’s not enough market for games and not enough games for linux, but the reason that there’s not enough games and no market for games on linux is because developers don’t port their games to linux. :/

And since a lot of people use linux as their desktop, i really don’t see how making games for linux would be bad. :/

Yes it is circle so someone has to start and break it and Anet already has Mac version so Linux would not be so hard to make ……and would not cost tham that much money :-D

I doubt it would break the cycle with the other game developers and that everyone would magically make new games for all platforms, but still… At least this one game. :P

But it comes down to money. If there’s money to be made, they’ll do it. If not, Windows version it is… Oh well, Mac too. :P

First, its as easy as check the hour when you log GW 2 and the hour of the log in attempt. If they match, this might be you.

Well i get the email from which i authorize immediately after i launch the client, then when i click the link i can play, yes, but what i get is unidentified networks (screenshot in the attachment). This hasn’t happened before, and now it’s all i get.

I feel safe enough clicking allow since they, as you said, come when i start the client, the same time, but still… I’m wondering what this means….

By your desciprion, it seems you have a dynamic IP and thus, everytime you switch your router on and off the IP you are playing from changes.

If still you are not sure, you could always contact your ISP and inquire if your IP can be made static instead of dynamic, so you wont need to authorize. Whatever you choose, we still recommend to keep mail authentication active.

Yes, i have a dynamic IP, and getting a static one costs money at my ISP so i won’t be getting that. :P And i don’t plan on deactivating the authorization at all, it’s a neat security feature. I like it a lot.

If you are unsure wheter those unindentified attemts are yours, please perform a full scan of your computer to check for any malicious software.

Yes, that’s a good idea. I’ll run a full scan and see what happens.

Anyway, the basic problem is that, i used to get the city/region/country from where i logged in, and i could even check “remember network”, so it doesn’t need to be authorized each time i log in from a particular ISP’s network, and now they’re all unidentified.

I haven’t noticed any issues besides that, but i’m just checking to see what that means, and if it’s maybe my problem or ISP’s, i don’t know.

I have this active by default, but i don’t really understand it….

I play GW2 from only one computer and there’s allways some new network showing up from different locations and when i authorize it it is the network i’m connecting from. This has something to do with my ISP i gues and from what server i’m currently being connected right?

Also, lately, every network and other info in login attempts are unindentified. What’s that about? When i authorize it, yes, i can play, but i feel uneasy about it a bit.

Sadly games under wine does not meet as good performance as under windows.

Someone mentioned just yesterday I believe it was that he is using Wine and getting pretty much identical performance between that and his windows boot version.

Was it a gaming pc or no? I am running a 460m, granted I do not expect to run it on highest, I expect at least to run higher than the lowest graphics.

Well according to this it works, but it’s a hell of a lot unnecessary busywork to get a half decent performance and a bugged out game and graphics where half of the stuff doesn’t work…

Also, as it is with wine, depending on what version you have you will get different results, and that also depends on the distro…

So if you run Ubuntu with wine version A, you’ll get that type of experience, and others that might run Suse will get another type, all of which will have it’s own set of problems, while some who have an older version of wine might get the game to work good. It’s too inconsistent to be worth it if the end result is a mediocre experience compared to running it in windows…

The only proper way to play GW2 in Linux is if they make a native Linux client. And since they’re making one for Mac, it would be a good idea for them to make one for Linux… After all it’s not that different, they might actually just modify the Mac one a bit and voila – Linux native client.

One can only hope. :/

@Veprovina – When you transmute, you’re basically merging 2 items to create 1 new item and you choose what appearance and stats you want the new item to have from the 2 items you are merging. So if you want to keep your Mesmer mask appearance indefinitely, during the transmutation process you will always select the appearance of your current mask but choose the improved stats of the new headgear you’ve acquired.

I’ve been transmuting headgear to keep my starting Mesmer mask appearance right the way up to level 80. I think I must have transmuted to keep the appearance around 10 times now.

So you’ve been using the same mask over and over again for appearance, and other items for stats?

I mean. You transmute the mask for appearance and another headgear for stats to create a new item that’s a mask…

Then you can transmute that new mask item (that has the appearance of the starting mask), with another headgear to get new stats, but keep the appearance?

Am i getting this right?

That means, i can just keep transmuting that mask over and over again, keeping the appearance and getting new stats all the time?

If i understood that right, then that’s what i’m looking for.

I’m kinda scared to try, because if i screw up, i can loose the mask forever. :O

Because i didn’t do anything except exit the game, and the other day when i logged in, i was at the shaman, tried it again and it worked, fought her and got a skill point. I didn’t do any extra respect the elements things. :P

Thank you! I think so too. That’s why i’d like this to be my end game mask. I think it would look cool with some other armor… since all other armor’s headgear kinda sucks on a charr… :P

Wow! Cool! Well, now i’ll save jugs. kitten had i known sooner, but oh well. Still a lot of game to go, and it’s not that hard to get the daily quest bonus, most of the stuff i can do in an hour, except maybe 5 events needed… Sometimes i’m the only one doing them or i just can’t find any. :P

Can i make a mesmer character, then give the mask to my main mesmer?

How does transmuting work anyway? I’m kinda confused about this… Can i transmute indefinitely with the same look or does the equipment dissapear or something?

For example… I transmute some piece of head armor to look like my first mask, and it retains its stats and bonuses. What happens then? The mask is gone or is the second piece of equipment gone?

What item do i get? I mean the icon, does the icon look like the first angry mask, but with new stats or does it look like the item used, but in the world shows as the first angry mask…

And can i reuse the look? Transmute once with one set of stats to look like the angry mask, then transmute again, another item to look like the same mask (if i only have one mask)? Or do i need more masks…

Can someone please clarify that?

Or should i just save my first mask for my endgame armor and transmute it once, because it’s impossible to transfer masks from another mesmer and impossible to reuse the same look twice?

Wait… If i drink karma with the karma booster active i get more? It works that way? I thought it just works when i get karma from quests! o.O

Basically if i like it, i can just copy something elses stats onto the look of the armor with an item that does that? I have like 10 of those i think.

They do seem kinda pricey, way too much karma, and karma is hard to come by. I’ve been doing daily quests as much as i can and i have about 20k karma now. But tier 3 weapons and armor… Man, where do i get so much karma? Sure, they’re lvl 80, but still…

I’m near the level requred for tier 1 so i’m wonderig if its worth it to spend so much karma on the weapons and armor. It’s kimda pricey and i’m not sure if they’re so much better than i’d get feom normal magical weapns. Yellow ones or somethig. Or should i just save my karma for the uber expensive tier 3 or 4 not sure which tier is the last. Can anyone give me some advice?

Update: I noticed the same thing with speed buff. The character is sped up, faster but no graphical effect at the feet. Also happens randomly. Sometimes the effect shows and sometimes it doesnt.

Well i’m not a programmer so i dont know how had or easy is to just make a native client but i doubt it would need to be done from the ground up. Just some executable files that are native that use the same resources and data files the wimdows client has. Idk… Companies have something against linx i guess. Otherwise it would be more games that can run on linux because linux is more than capable of running a lot of games, wine or not. There is of course the directx issue which is from microsoft and companies are dependent on that technology as well as graphic cards so windows has a monopoly on the gaming industry. And the only way directx is ever gonna be available on linux is through wine. Or if windows gets rights to sell linux os’ and charges people for i. No profit from free os and o point for them to out of kindness make directx available natively on linux. This is of course just a small part of a big list of things why we wont see many games on linux. :/

See, for instance, i completed diessa plateau with mo bugs and got a reward at the end. Weird how it works for some and not for others.

In Wayfarer Foothills, it’s the only skill challange I didn’t complete because when i talk to her, she only says generic stuff like “good hunting” and so, presumably what she should say after i complete the challange, which i didn’t…

A bunch of other players came over and tried to activate it, but nothing happened. Generic chat banter, no dialog shows up, where i’m supposed to challange her.

I would like to see that too… I don’t know why everyone shuns linux. If they make stuff for Mac, it’s not that difficult to make it for linux, since they’re kinda simmilar.

another thing you could do is make a necro alt, choose the skull mask or one of the others, transmute that onto a white piece of low level trash armor and hand it over to your mesmer for a more menacing look

Hey! Now why didn’t i think of that! If i save my first mask, i can Transmute any item’s properties into that first mask right? So it’ll have the properties of a high level item and look like that first mask? The same as the necro face paint? Or anything for that matter right?

Yeah, but still… :P Even with a nice mask, the big teeth and horns kinda stick out… :P I’m never gonna be a lovable kitty to human children so why not go all the way. :P And if i need to be good, i can always get the bunny ears from the shop.

So i’ve been playing my Charr Mesmer, and it’s pretty fun, and it actually doesn’t look as stupid as i thought it will. The shattered glass butterfly effects look great, and on a Charr they don’t give me that school girl vibe i was getting on a norn character (which is why i deleted it). I chose the angry evil mask that looked laughable when i tried it on a norn, but It looks pretty amazing on a charr! See the screenshot. Other 2 starting masks are terrible on any other race, but meh on a charr, so yeah. Angry evil mask it is…

Now… All the other masks i’ve seen… Wow are they ugly!

Will i ever get another mask that looks at least remotely epic? All the other look funny at best… Not really something you’d fear when you run into it (yeah i like to roleplay).

Are there even other masks that cover more than the characters eyes?

When you’re a mesmer every day is a carnival, eh?

Is there some site where i can see all the masks? I know i’ll spoil most of this “look and feel” aspect of my game with this, but i have to know. I’ve been clinging to my first mask forever, even if other headgear i found is way better, i still wear my first mask. Now i found some half hood/cowl thing that looks threatening, so yeah… I want a mask.

Another Charr Mesmer. A bunch of levels back but still… Charr mesmers look awesome!
Too bad all other masks i’ve seen except this one are horrible. Maybe i’ll find the right mask one day.

Sometimes when i use Chaos Armor Mesmer staff skill, it doesn’t work. I’m not getting interrupted, the skill animation completes like it should but nothing happens. This happens really rarely.

Other times i get the effect the skill gives, but no graphical effect (the purple shield around my character). So the skill does what it says but doesn’t appear at all…

And other times it works as it should, skill effect and graphic effect…

It’s weird…

Not a big deal, but i just thought i’d share…

Well i’ve been away for the weekend and couldn’t reply on forums… Quite a bit of people having the same issues… I’ll try flushing DNS maybe that fixes it…

One thing i noticed is that after i get disconnected i reset my router and it works fine again for a while. This is by no means a fix, but worth a try for the people who get disconnected.

I just hope there’s a permanent fix for this, and i believe it’s not the users fault, may be something with ArenaNet’s servers… It’s an MMO, most of the game exists on the servers so yeah… The clients we have shouldn’t be at fault for the disconnections…

Hope they fix it soon. It’s not fun getting disconnected in the middle of an epic fight… :/

Also, the strafing issue seems to be fixed, so yeah… And i guess i’ll get used to the targeting. :P

I’m having issues with disconnected from server thing… I don’t know the exact code it gives me, but it’s happening more and more. Then after i press OK on the message, the only thing i can do besides stare at the black screen is Ctrl+Alt+Del my way into task manager and force close Gw2 application… It’s kinda frustrating…

The client isn’t firewalled, i checked some other stuff that might cause the problem like my internet connection, but everything’s fine… Yet i’m still getting disconnected….

One other rather annoying issue is that the keys are sometimes getting “stuck”… Like, i’m pressing A or D to strafe and sometimes it’s like they’re getting “toggled”… the character is going left or right or whatever, even when i release the key. Then i have to press it again for it to stop moving…

Another thing i’m curious about and probably doesn’t belong in tech support but still… Why do i keep losing targets? I press tab to target something, hit it twice and the target’s gone, i have to press tab again to target the enemy. Then sometimes it targets a random NPC pretty far from what i’m facing… Is the targeting system kinda broken or did i just not set up something right in options? The biggest annoyance is that my targets keep dissapearing. This started happening just recently.

Anyway, the disconnect issue is the most important, the other 2 are minor annoyances i thought i’d share so i don’t have to open up a new thread…

Any insight on what may be the cause?

Oh well, that’s a shame… I wasn’t really expecting much information on this anyway… Whenever i find some post like this it’s always written so that you can’t confirm anything.

I would like to see the PS3 port though. I have some friends that only have consoles and are very much interested in GW2, as i’ve heard other people say as well, but they just don’t want to buy a computer for that game alone. :P

Oh well, console generation. :P No computers only consoles.

Anyway… Would be cool if they released it for the consoles too. Then i’d be able to play with my console only friends.

Well if they plan on making it, or if they gave up on it i guess we’ll find out eventually.

They are somewhat old posts, but still, i’m wondering, what’s the deal with that?
I mean, it’s on Gamespot, i’m not saying that automatically means it’s true, but they probably wouldn’t spread rumors without at least some arguments.

Is GW2 for PS3 really in development? If so that would be awesome to be able to play with players from PC and from PS3. Unless of course, like Dark Souls, they don’t make them 2 separate games and servers, so that PS3 players will only be able to play with PS3 players and not PC…

Hello, i bought the game a few days ago. I’m enjoying it very much.
I’m a bit confused about character progression though…

I’ve got 13 unused skill points by now and 6 unused trait points with no idea what to put them in… I’m afraid i’ll mess something up.

Can i just put them in skills as i get them, or do i need to think carefully what to get. I mean, at the end, can i get all the skills available to my class, or are there more skills than skill points.

Same with trait points… I assume that’s for specializing my character a bit more. How do i know what to get? And if i mess it up, can i reset the skill and trait points?

I hope i’m making sense.
