Riiiiight, and for those that dont play Thief or Mesmer?
I hope this game goes burst crazy. Then we will see how much fun it is when every class is nuking the hell out of everything.
evry character can do these kind of hits more or less when in glasscanon and using a proper boost in damage before doing the main attack .
- warriors 100 blades
- guards greatersword combo’s
- necro has his F1 to absorb the high burst and does rather high dps to
- havent played ranger yet but they probebly got a huge dps glasscanon spec to
- ele’s if they do not go survivability can do 5k+ hits
- engi’s grenades do alot of aoe dps in glasscanon spec
tho a glasscanon spec wont be able to capture points against a high toughness servivabily spec, so glasscanon might do high dps on other low thoughness builds. but they probebly wont last long enough to win the fight ( defend / capture the points ) when facing a high toughness build.
again its all about how you play the character that makes the character strong
( sure some are easier to play then others , doesnt mean that other characters are weaker )

Seen a lot of stuff on forum lately about mesmer burst being Op ( cause of bug )
i’m gone try to explain that the 2 classes are axualy balanced toward eatchother.
mesmer burst :
- 2 clones spawn on target ( 3k hit )
- run toward target and dodge ( 0 k hit )
- scatter with diversion
- pop mirror image / dodge / mind wrack ( -+10 k)
som it up : 2 skills / 2 dodges / 2 scatters / 1 utility
( takes 6-7 seconds / 13 k small aoe hit )
atm bug can bring this up to around 16k but chance of it bugging are rather small, alot of things have an influence on the burst combo of a mesmer to fully max out a bug )
thief burst :
- pop venom ( 0 hit )
- precast c&d / steal ( 3k 3 k )
- backstab ( - 8 k )
- Hs ( +-3 k )
som it up : 2 skills (1/2 normale hit ) / 1 utility / steal
( takes +-3 seconds/ 17 k single target)
atm a lot of thiefs can bring this burst combo up to around 20 k
so a 7 sec burst on mesmer for 14 k aoe hit ( 30-40 sec recharge )
and a 3 sec burst on thief for a 17 k single target ( 30-40 sec recharge )
to me this looks like its balanced between the 2
thief got it easier even to do the combo and get away and people have less time to react to it.
but the mesmer has the aoe effect and the confusion of clones to balance it out
hopes people will stop complaining about the thief vs mesmer battle dillema’s i’ve seen on the forums a few times now
do not forget that you still need to be good at playing your character to make the character do something good.

lol. If you have a Thief that is spamming HS 2-3 times to catch you.
1. isn’t damaging you.
2. when he gets there he has no initiative to damage you other than auto attack.
3. it is near worthless unless you have 25% health or less.
4. dodge
5. dodge
6-infinity. DODGE.Selective reading or something. I clearly stated having an even duel with someone then when you both get low (which is under 50% health an more normally 25% or less) the thief can rely on heartseeker. I also stated if all cooldowns are already blown they will all hit and even if they don’t its not like the thief will take any damage with the evasion tied to that crap….yea 3 dodges in a row that’s pretty fancy there. Glad I have THREE dodges to use at any point, yea cuz I never run out of my three dodges.
you can axualy have 4 dodges on any class …
2 dodge from yourself ,
1 dodge from 50% endurance on weapon swap ,
1 dodge from rune of the adventure ( 50% endurance on healing )
and most classes do have some way of getting vigor to ( if its on crit or on skilluse)
I find it so hard to understand how people think having multiple skills that gap close, homes mindlessly directly to target, evade damage, deal huge damage, combo finisher, deals conditions, and all the while SPAMMABLE are ok. A spammable combo finisher in its own is just wow. The problem with moves like HS is what I mentioned in the last sentences. The other classes do not receive these insane abilities. If I blow a teleport on my ele at the wrong time I pay the price.
Why should the thief be able to have a even battle with another prof., then once the tides turn against his favor falls back on moves like heartseeker that are basically an iWin button. Spam that 2-3 times at the end of the battle and by then that other person will have blown all major cooldowns during the fight. That is a guaranteed 2-3 hits that you cannot receive damage on and will normally kill the target with no cds. Notice I didn’t mention stealth, and damage few times, the mechanics of the thief are broken

sometimes its better to try out the class before posting.
thief has 12 initiatief thats 4 Hs’s he can spam ( or 2.5 Death blossums or 2.5 pistol whips ,….)
so after more or less 3 attack spells the thief is out of ways to hit you other then his normale attack.
( you can dodge 2 times leaving the thief with only 1 spell able to hit you before his ini runs out and it regens realy slowly)
there isnt that much differnce between the ini cost of thief and recharge of other classes spells. just a bigger "if they dont dodge " factor is involved here compared to other classes
only thing that needs a nerf is the damage a glasscannon BS can do ( shoud be max 50% of total max HP of target )
1shot kill combo’s need to be nerfed out of the game ( and that goes for all classes that can do higher then 10 k dps in 1 non-channeled hit )
swap the portal with a signet that adds 25% movement speed and ill be happy to let go of the portal skill
but asking the class that doesn’t have any utility’s that increase movement speed out of combat, to just simply remove there way of fast transport or nerf it. …………….. ^^
how woud you nerf it btw ?
it already has a long recharge , and you need to visit both places to make the jump
( i even think you cant use the portal while enemy around you, or it doesn’t seem to work on mine)

Explain to me plz how backstab ( 1.5 k tooltip dps from back )
Can be turned into a 10k hit cause of a few stacks of might and vuln. ?
I just cant see how a 500 extra power can make it go from a 5 k crit to a 10 k crit
2000 power = 5 k crit
2500 power = 10 k crit ???
Tooltip = 1.5 k dps , axual dps = 10 k ( just smells like something is bugging here maybe the tooltip ? )
Dont get me wrong my main is a thief , but playing the class just feels like there something unfair about them compared to others ( mostly cause of the steal precast)
i woud suggest not to allow precast while another skill is executing.
or at least make it so that non channeled skills can not go above 8 k crit( 50% of total HP of target)
it removes the option for a 1.5 sec kill combo and it will make people axualy make other builds on thief then just “backstab build” and “constant cloak pistol build”
or at least it will require more skill of the thief to still use these combo’s
evry1 that doesn’t agree with my solution is afraid he’ll loos the upperhand.
