PLEASE fix Mai Trin relogging bug

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Wiella.8567

@Etybagig Sad to hear about your bad experience there

Every time I see someone waiting for Ellen Kiel to die (to get the exploit running) or even spamming chat “LET HER DIE!!” I just charge ahead to save her and screw it up. Seriously, start playing – not exploiting the game. Luckily I play mostly with friends who support my point of view so we can actually force people to play instead of exploiting stuff and not get kicked for that.

Probably you need to join a guild to have folks with you on those runs as well – you will be amazed how aggressive random people start playing rabbits when they see 3 guildies in the same group. Suddenly they are fine with not skipping some trash and doing fractals/dungeons your way.

Talking about the Mai Trin fight itself – it actually has an easy pattern that can be remembered over 4-5 tries/kills. All you need is to watch over teleport and whirl attacks. Whirl can only be dodged, teleport can only be blocked – both can be blocked by any immune. Of course to solo her on any given class it will take more training, but for 5-man group it is more than enough to know.

Also you need is to take your survival skills (and traits/gear if skills aren’t enough) to get through cannon phases and avoid Mai Trin attacks – every single class in game has plenty available in one or another form.

If you are trying to do this encounter in full zerk with max damage output utilities – don’t blame the encounter that you die a lot. Don’t blame the encounter that you have to use an exploit to at least kill the boss – you just completely fail at understanding what is more important for this fight. And it is certainly not a “lightning storm”, “banner of discipline” or “feel my wraith”. If you take “mist form”, “endure pain” or “renewed focus” instead you will most probably be safe on the cannon phase, even if you hit a circle or two. Take a few more and you are bullet-proof. Add a knight set and you are totally unkillable there.

What? Don’t like non-zerk gear? Does it really matter that much on this fight if you spend an additional minute but will avoid a wipe and 10 minutes more for the next try? It is completely reasonable if you are not 100% sure your group can beat the boss in full zerk.

And yes, I’ve heard people having issues with circles, but never seen it myself on any PC I had, even slow ones. I tend to believe those people so I think there actually is a bug, even though I clearly see them failing at dodging or running away from circles – it is not their fault if those actually are not rendered on the screen for them or misplaced.

But this is just a minor bug that happens for a few people I know and only on Mai Trin encounter. And I never had more than two people saying they have this glitch on Mai Trin at once. Also people tend to fake their fails under a curtain of game bugs. And not just on this specific encounter. I am pretty sure similar “ghost bugs” will appear in raids and new fractals as well and people will just blame the game instead of actually trying to play better. This is what actually annoying.

Anet forcing players to beta test

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Soon they will be ‘forcing’ you to buy the expansion under your logic. Guess you have a busy forum time ahead of you.

For sure. So much fuss about just a weekend with some people playing beta characters in PvP. They are probably no match for experienced players anyway right now. Or did you get annoyed so much after being killed by some random revenant?

To be more specific on topic:

Anet forcing players to beta test

First wrong statement as already noted by many people in the topic – no one forcing you to do anything. Your counter-arguments are invalid and you can find why below.

Since you cant opt out of playing with beta content like reaper rev, etc. You can no longer queue pvp without running into beta content.

Don’t like running into “beta” characters in PvP – skip PvP for this weekend. I wonder why you didn’t create this topic while previous beta-tests – were away or were holding it in up until now?

Personally, I absolutely can not stand beta tests. I dont like dealing with balance problems or bugs.

Be more specific, I didn’t see any bugs even with beta characters in PvP. If you want to reason then provide some valid arguments. So far it was only about you specifically not liking just the idea of beta content partially released onto live servers.

I never sign up for beta tests for anything. Why am I unable to choose to participate in this? I want to pvp without the stupid beta stuff.

You HAVE signed the GW2 user agreement when you started playing so please, cut this. Make sure to read it carefully:

10. (a) You acknowledge that ArenaNet may in its reasonable discretion provide subsequent versions, enhancements, modifications, upgrades or patches related to any part of the Service.

If you are not agree with it – I got bad news for you.

Allow us to select whether or not we want to play with beta content forgodssake

And you will be left in half-empty OR even completely empty queue and will be whining even more for sure that you cannot get into PvP match for hours. Why? Because there will probably be almost zero people who don’t wanna try matches against beta characters.

So either way this will end up the same – you will not be able to play PvP but for a completely different reason this time – because there is noone to queue with and not because you just don’t want to play with beta characters.

Also I do not understand what you are trying to achieve with this topic – beta test was almost over by the time you have created it and there is just one more beta weekend left. Most probably Anet will not change the way beta is hold (and they shouldn’t really), so this is completely pointless.

Laggy trading post

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Wiella.8567

There is a constant lag of Trading Post UI throughout last month or two – it started with some of the updates. I am pretty sure it is a general issue for everyone as I have personally asked some people in guild and friends – they all suffer from this. Also I am pretty sure devs are aware of this issue as it is actually hard to miss out if you open the Trading Post at least once and try to do something.

It lags horribly when you are, for example, trying to enter a price right after opening an item popup – it just doesn’t let you or changes a random value (for example gold instead of copper). It also lags a lot more generally – while opening Trading Post itself, different categories or scrolling through lists of goods.

And I can certainly say that I am playing on a good connection/hardware which is more than enough to run the game on ~10-20 ms latency and 60 fps on max settings. So those lags are probably something indifferent to your network/PC setup.

Please add a consumables bar!!

Wiella.8567

First of all, to all people saying about inventory as a solution – keeping inventory open is NOT a solution, it is just a WORKAROUND, also a really inconvenient one, so please – don’t push that line again. It is NOT the same thing as an additional bar or key bind access and it doesn’t really help.

I am pretty sure anyone who uses consumables a lot have already organized their inventory and probably are keeping it open. That doesn’t mean it is a solution, it is just a temporary workaround for the feature that is not in game yet.

I would love to have a consumables bar with at least 2-4 slots, but adding one might interfere with the general idea of keeping the screen clear and allowing you to focus on gameplay itself and surroundings, so probably the easiest solution there is to allow players binding hotkeys to specific bag slots through game settings. Ultimately – allow binding keys to every bag slot you have, but just a few would also work just fine.

I am pretty sure anyone can remember a few additional binds. Also if an additional bar is introduced it will surely have key binds, so in the end you will be using those instead of clicking on the bar anyway.

Food/Utility specific bar might work nicely, BUT those are not the only consumables in game – there are also tonics, various brawl items, utility items, gemstore items and some other less classifiable ones. I am pretty sure a lot of people want to have some of those in quick access.

[BUG][Ele] Burning Retreat and RtL are broken

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Wiella.8567

What you are describing is a bad internet connection -> in other words: lag

Although these skills proper work actually heavily depends on latency atm – I don’t think that should be like that. That simply renders those skills useless unless you have latency less than 30-40 ms.

You might be snapped like in OP video if you have latency issues, that is fine if the technology behind those skills doesn’t allow making this smooth. Though the actual damage from RtL should occur properly and the field from BR should be placed properly, otherwise it is simply a broken skill.

Unable to join open Fractal instances

That window appears like you said and generally it is a new fractal window, BUT if you don’t change anything there and just press enter you will be able to join your group.

So this is just a visual / UI bug, it doesn’t really block you from re-entering fractal instance.

I was also confused yesterday when saw that one first time, but I tried to enter as it is since I wasn’t near the entrance and that window was surely popping up because group is in the fractal instance and it worked properly.

reportable for kicking at end of run?

Wiella.8567

And like noted above as well – you might want to avoid guild runs or least ask/notify them that you don’t really want be kicked at the end so if that case is possible they might replace you right away.

I have had experience of being kicked once from a guild fractal run at the end, but this was generaly an LFG abuse – they said they had to take a guildmate in but instead they tried to sell the run. This was one run in like a thousand, so it is almost never the case but it doesn’t hurt to ensure your run safety.

I agree with other comments on the case.

You tried to kick AFK guy without even asking about what could have happened with him and probably got kicked by his friends in response. I would also consider such friend kick request offending. Plus it sounded like you didn’t have any issues killing the boss anyway.

Be polite and reasonable and you won’t have any problems in any kind of runs unless party members being impolite or unreasonable, which is a different story and doesn’t seem to be the case in this “story”.

… Masteries, specializations, new maps and tons of other new shiny stuff.
Looking forward to try out the expansion content!

And yeah, game improved a lot since around two years ago when I tried it for the first time (and was fascinated by it even back then!), so I would really want to thank devs for all the efforts they have done to improve the game and bring more entertainment for us!

Also I had lots of fun playing with new traits systems on different classes yesterday, those are now really nice and all are useful for different situations unlike the old traits system where you had more choices 90% of which were simply underpowered and therefore completely useless. And lots of other minor improvements and additions like the Princess reward for hunting karkas in LA, new JP etc.

Some people are just too focused on momentary things, like the mess with expansion preorder. Some just hate whatever comes into the game just because they have to explore stuff, adjust their specs or just because they can’t see the whole picture of what comes ahead, like with the new elite specializations system.

Thaumanova Reactor Crash

Had this crash yesterday – all 5 people got the critical error, got thrown out of the game and as a result we lost our lvl 40 fractal instance – that was really frustrating.

Also a random guy who was with us there said he already seen that crash a few times, so I guess we are lucky that this was just the first time for us.

Crash occurred right after killing last skritt – basically when the fractal events chain should continue. We even had one guy out of range (dead at the beginning of instance, inside the room) but he also crashed with us.

Should Skale Venom be usable in instances?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Wiella.8567

Wiella.8567

Don’t forget this:

Skills that Bounce have a chance of ~20% to inflict the effect on the player instead of the target.

That actually happens and annoying as hell for some classes.

Generally I would say that it indeed helps to some extent, BUT only if the whole group uses it, which is almost never the case, even with guildmates (unless it is a dedicated fractals-running guild). For around 5k+ fractal runs I have seen zero random groups who would use it – only a few guys here and there who probably not even sure why they use it – just heard from someone that “venom is awesome and will solve all your issues”.

In dungeons you might prefer dungeon-specific potion instead which gives a dmg boost you won’t have otherwise, so it its usage is basically limited to fractals.

And don’t think I am defending it as some kind of overpowered stuff – I wouldn’t cry if it gets removed or made unusable in dungeons/fractals. There are a lot of other good consumables which are far better for specific situations or just generally good.

Pretty much no one uses skale venom anymore in high level content. The +10/-10 potions are much better and places that don’t have a speficig potion just use sharpening stones.

It isn’t true. If the whole party have the skale venom it works pretty well in most situations. Yes, you will have a bit (like 1-4%?) lower dmg but that doesn’t really matter in a good group, you won’t even feel the difference, – on the other hand skale venom might soften some hits and leave you alive when you would have died otherwise.

Overwolf? Why not just have addon support?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Wiella.8567

Wiella.8567

I totally agree on this one. This whole Overwolf App challenge and fuss around it seems really weird to me.

If you want people to make use of your API (which is already at a pretty awesome state) and create their own stuff – just give them at least a few simple options to write in-game addons. Block access to any unwanted features like controlling character and it is good to go. No need for complicated workarounds and 3rd-party software. You will be amazed what players will create.

Yes, yes, I know developers are busy with expansion and stuff and will probably be busy for a long time after. I can wait and I’m sure other players can wait as well. GW2 UI is convenient enough to live without addons. Though addons will be a really good addition to the game.

But overlay applications like Overwolf… those just seem to be some strange workaround. And a really buggy one I should say – I tried to play with Overwolf and simply removed it after having to deal with cursor capture issues for a few hours. It is totally inconvenient and so frustrating that I just can’t stand it. And of course noone mentions those a lot.

There are a few good apps there, yes, and I am sure those help some people and improve their gaming experience, but the same could be said about pretty much any useful information about the GW2 on the web. That isn’t the point of the thread.

You would have all 3 skins

Sure about that?

You always get skins of what it took to craft item you bind to your account.
I got Sunrise skin that way when equipped Eternity.
Plus you will get precursor skins as well.

I doubt that “grind PvE skill challenges” will take more than an hour to be completed. On top of that – most people already have some of the challenges done, if not all. So you can’t really call that a grind.

Plus there are some skill challenges in WvW as well so I bet those will also be converted to grant hero points.

[Suggestion] Outfits system improvements

Wiella.8567

My understanding of it is that outfits are designed as a single piece and do not come with separate pieces, except the head piece. So even if they released them as an outfit AND 3 visually identical armor sets, they would need to remake the same look 4 times. While this takes time and people clearly, I think it would be worth it where it’s feasible, more on this later.

The outfits category existing is fine. It was created to try to deal with about half of the town clothes debacle, and was then marketed as a way to apply a look onto your character without having to spend transmutation charges (AKA money).

You can’t be sure why exactly it was created, probably just to try out this new option and see if it fits the game well or not. In any case, let’s not speculate that a lot.

About the transmutation charges – I think anyone who played PvP or done some maps exploration have a lot of those. Not even talking about guys who farm or buy BLCs. So those doesn’t seem to be an issue if you are actively playing the game – there are a lot of sources to get them from.

First I gotta ask, wtf were they thinking when they made 2 or 3 totally different armor meshes for light/heavy and medium? Every time I’ve received a response from other players regarding this, they have all said that this is the reason the coat tails are tied to the chest piece on medium armors, and the heavy/light get skirts, not a wise choice here… IF armors were all designed off the exact same mesh, it would clear a great many issues from armor designs that may have led Anet to start looking at single piece gears, or at least it would have allowed them more freedom to make things that broke the “butt skirts and trench coats” complaints that constantly surfaced back when they were making gem store full armor sets.

We can only speculate why those were made so. Let’s keep this topic constructive and set all guesses aside. It might have been a first push to the outfits design, yes, but that is only a guess there.

Second, outfits were meant to offer more room for artistry in gear designs. This shows in sets like The Mad King’s, Balthazar, Arcane, Crystal Nomad, etc, but then there are a couple sets that have no need to be outfits, if only because their designs could have been done within the constrains of 6 piece armors, examples include this latest Daydreamer set especially, Ancestral, and Jungle explorers outfits. When they start adding outfits that could be used (mind you, I don’t know ALL the constraints of their armor system, but going from looks which the system defines), it’s starting a trend that I personally fear, which was mentioned above, the removal of meaningful character customization.

Yep, aside making some outfits as outfits because of design constraints (I guess here goes the Balthazar outfit and some other which otherwise would have seam issues) – there are outfits, like you just mentioned, which can be converted into skins for sure and which already have six visually separate parts which can fit in as skins pretty well.

This is actually where a system like the one I have offered can come into play easily to provide/convert some of the outfits back into skins+custom outfit made on their base.

To the cost of transmutation charges, it was one of the selling points of outfits when they were initially brought in, and while this is good for leveling or people who don’t want to farm/buy them, it plays back into character customization. Some of us (hopefully a lot of us) are willing to go that extra distance to make our characters look just right, because ultimately after we blow through the rather generic MMO storyline, people like me only really come back (be it daily or after long breaks) for things that keep it fresh. And character customization (all be it through massive amounts of grind farming) is what does it for me. Outfits are a negation of this.

Not sure about the cost of the transmutation charges, but I am agree with the rest. Customization is what makes you return back to the game, frequently check TP or Gemstore for new cool stuff and just play some PvE and PvP even if there is no content around like now.

Key is choices, since both exist, let there be more choices. Between armors, outfits and the possibility of some social clothing tonics, like say, bikinis and speedos like we see on Southsun Cove. (the non-outfit town clothes thing was kinda uncool, woulda liked single skins in each armor weight, but w/e)

I am generally agree with that and my offer basically describes one of possible ways to combine both – skins and outfits – to work well with each other, which should really be the final goal, but not removing one or another completely from the game.

They’ve already explained why outfits are technologically different from armor skins

I read a lot of discussions on that topic but didn’t really see that information, could you point me to the exact post or topic? Thanks in advance.

Basically, certain pieces of outfits NEED to be used together as a one piece because of seam issues, but then we could just have those pieces override the needed ones. So if the outfit was a once piece dress, for example, wearing the top would automatically force the pants skin to match no matter what pants are equipped. Some of the Flame Legion chest pieces from COF already do this. I’m pretty sure the light and medium ones do.

That is a good point as well. If there are seam/clipping issues that could not be fixed easily (though I am sure that could be, but will require too much of the dev/designers time) they could make a workaround like the one you described and it would be totally acceptable. You probably will chose those parts together anyway because separately they will look horrible (like the zodiac chest without leggings).

Costumes are not supposed to be mixable. Maybe they should make costumes less look like armors.
When you wear a chicken custome you supposed to look like a chicken. Then you want to mix it with bear head?

I agree that some costumes are better to be left as costumes – my suggestion doesn’t include the option to leave some outfits as outfits only, but that might also be an option. BUT only some of them which are actually costumes – like the cook or winter ones.

The issue is that they are now releasing armors (like balthazar one) as outfits instead of skins and that, in my opinion, is not a costume at all – this is just a normal armor skin made as an outfit to simplify stuff. And that is becoming an issue because I feel that we won’t see any new good skins around (like we had before) for a long time.

the greater the level of customization available, especially when dealing with cash shop items, the happier players are. What we have here in terms of costumes is far too rigid and it is why many players, myself included, have refused to buy outfits from the gem shop.

I totally agree. And that is why I am offering an improvement that might help keep the outfits system rolling without affecting players who doesn’t like it at all, and which might also add some new customization options on top of that.

[Suggestion] Outfits system improvements

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Wiella.8567

There are a lot of talks lately about outfits replacing normal armor skins. Mostly complaints and requests to add skins instead of the outfits. They have a point but unfortunately they do not offer any real solution.

So I’ve got some ideas I would like to share with both community and ANet about the case. Hopefully, those might be useful.

To start with, a message to community:

I am afraid that problem with outfits is not just about doing outfits being simple-to-create (1 armor skin vs 3 distinct armor skins for each weight) and more profitable (1 skin for all weights instead of 1 skin for 1 weight) – problem is that there are a lot of players using outfits already. If ANet will stop adding outfits right now or, what is even worse, will remove them completely and replace with skins – that will be a big blow to all those who prefer using outfits. And I bet there are a lot of people who love them.

So basically – outfits cannot be removed from game and have to be obtainable somehow to keep interested players in-game. Or, at least, something similar should be introduced to replace them without hurting players experience.

General thoughts on outfits:

Let’s be honest, outfits concept is a really good one!
Probably not completely finished and polished yet, but it IS good.

You can use them with just one click, you don’t need to buy/waste transmutation charges, you don’t even need armor on to use them, you don’t have to reapply them each time you change some part of your gear, you can easily switch between them.

I love them and I use a few of them, but… mostly on naked alts used to craft some stuff and such. Why? Because I really want to make my character stand out, I really hate being a cloned version of lots of other players around in the world of Tyria.

So basically, as already said thousands of times on forums – outfits lack flexibility. You can’t mix different skins and create your unique sets. I mean truly different – not just another re-colored version of the same outfit which will still be pretty distinguishable.

Now, here comes the idea:

There might be a good way to get out of this situation without hurting outfits owners and making all who love to mix skins happy at the same time: do a few enhancements to outfits system. Here is the details on the idea:

1. Introduce blank outfit templates:
- Blank outfit template can be filled-in with different armor skin parts (6 parts in total) and will then be converted into account-bound outfit (like we have right now)
- Each blank outfit sold for gems in gem store = direct profit, price doesn’t really matter for me but I guess it might match the outfits price (around 500-800 gems)
- Each blank outfit is usable only once = they are awesome enough to make them non-reusable, I would agree to buy tons of those just to have all skin sets I like as outfits
- Since we allow any skins to be applied to the blank outfit now – they might have to be split by the weight category UNLESS you were using skins which are available in each weight (like skins coming from outfits OR old skin sets like Zodiac) and are unlocked for you in each weight
- In addition – since player can now create their own otfits – you might allow player to remove them (like throwing away an item) in case he wants to get rid of some – he will lose outfit, yes, but he won’t lose unlocked skins so it’s not an issue

2. All outfits which were in-game before can be converted into skins
- All existing outfits have to be separated into 6 skin parts, basically they become common skins unlocked for account – that might take some work, but it can be done
- Players who have outfits will receive it in outfits tab as a custom outfit with all 6 pieces from the skin of that outfit and will also receive 6 skins in their skins collection
- Outfits in gem store will be replaced with their skin versions, since you have them now in-game as separate skins – there is no problem to add them like that

Details can be changed, but basically that’s it!

In the end of the day:
+ Players who love outfits – didn’t lose anything, they still have the converted version
+ Players who bougth outfits so far – received outfit parts skins and can use them now
+ Players who want to mix-n-match – can now do that and even more!
+ All players – can now create their own ready-to use outfits (aka skin sets)
+ ANet can sell blank outfit templates – I bet demand will be HUGE on those
+ ANet can sell skin sets now without need to create outfits – players will create them
+ ANet will get additional profit on selling old outfits converted into skin sets

It will be a win-win for everyone, or not?

Yes, to get new outfit you will have to pay twice now (for skins and for blank outfit template), but that can be mitigated with prices or just with the total awesomeness of this feature being in-game.

So, I would love to hear your thoughts on this idea.

LFG tool: Add class filter

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Wiella.8567

Wiella.8567

About the idea – I don’t really mind LFG working either way, both have pros and cons.
Though most probably this suggestion won’t be implemented anyway.

Also you can put your “terms-of-join” into description, if you can call them like that, even with currently working LFG system. And there is a good side of the system that works right now: if someone not meeting those “terms” join and doesn’t live up to group expectations – she or he will certainly get punished by the group unlike the “wanted” classes from the same group which are usually allowed to fail like hell. That makes people who play “unwanted” classes double their effort in most cases (telling by my experience, in both meanings).

So basically what I want to say here – current system encourages players who use those “unwanted” classes in PvE work harder and be more useful and avoid failures at any cost since they will always be punished twice harder than other members. I won’t argue that this isn’t really fair, but this is a good thing generally.

Yes, there are always some exceptions, but as I said before – those “exceptions” will certainly get punished by the group in one or another way, so let’s leave those alone.

So in my opinion if current system goes away – classes which are “weaker” in PvE will be forced to play only with groups which do not care about their setup and thus won’t be encouraged to maximize their performance. This will eventually lead to even more degradation of the named class in general and will make the wall between classes in PvE even higher than it is right now.

This is partially my personal thoughts and I didn’t say anything specific there
So what should actually be done to remove that “wall” between classes in PvE?

First I must say this:
I don’t see any issues (not talking about bugs here) in current classes.
I really like how all of them have their different feel and playstyle.
I do think that they are balanced pretty well and all are fairly playable in PvE.

Unfortunately my own opinion doesn’t really matter if, as an example, half of the community thinks that balance is broken and some classes are “unwelcome” in PvE.

So about the balance again – can’t say that there is a simple way, but “unwanted” classes basically lack utilities (meaning all – traits, weapon skills – not just utility skills) to assist/buff party and to be more useful in different PvE content.

Of course if we are talking about current PvE content and how it “rolls” – we are mostly talking about stacking might/fury, giving some empowering stuff (banners/empowers and such) and debuffing the boss (weakness/vulnerability).

So basically – some class-specific conditions, boons or empowers might be added to “buff” party members (as an example of such class-specific mechanic – look at warrior banners) or more options to defeat encounter might be introduced (like elementalist weapons give additional options in a lot of situations).

This all will of course require a lot of rebalancing work for both PvE and PvP and might hurt class skills diversity, but otherwise nothing will happen, situation won’t change on its own so some decisions must certainly be made for situation to be changed.

That all being said –
Probably a lot of stuff and rebalance work will be done with the expansion coming later, so I’d say everyone who is so eager for some quick changes should chill a bit and see what comes with expansion.

P.S.
- I really do enjoy playing “unwanted” classes (mostly necro) in PvE
- I do mostly play “wanted” class (ele) because I also enjoy it
- I never accept kick requests just because it is “unwanted” class
- I always try to counter-kick anyone requesting the previous type of kick

You do realize that this is a core feature of the game and it won’t be changed?
If you do realize that, why would you post this? Just curious, no offence.

I didn’t loot any from drops, though had two in a row in the same day from MF – just said to my friend something like: “I have never tried the MF, probably I still have some luck there!” – and threw 12 yellows into the forge – got Storm. We lol’ed and I said something like: “check this out..” – and threw another 4 yellows with no hope of gettin anything, but got Leaf of Kudzu. That was really funny and made my day. I wouldn’t say that I freaked out since I already made a few leges through a vast amount of farming – that lucky rng was just a nice bonus. I did throw a lot of yellows into MF days afterwards with no luck at all, I guess I am not getting anything from there ever again

Also a few weeks later my friend got a dusk from SilverWaste lost bandit chest bag (not the chest itself – the bag).

Also seen dusk drop for a guildmate in dredge fractal (when it was still a pain in the…) – from a simple trash mob, not even an elite.

P.S. I wouldn’t really believe what people link/say in map chat – only friends or guildmates. Too many trolls out there.

Guild upgrades have stopped (paused)

Also noticed that after patch – I had an upgrade that still had almost a week to go and some smaller one for a day – both of them now have 00:00 time left and it seems like nothing happens. Btw option to boost them also doesn’t work (and actually says it will waste 0 influence).

What about GW2 attracts you?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Wiella.8567

I was playing a lot of MMOs but only GW2 really made me want to return, login and play every day. For example WoW becomes really boring after reaching max lvl/gear, also you have to grind dungeons/raids/arena again after each expansion or event update – that is really tiring. Ragnarok (1st one, yes) is pretty outdated and there isn’t a lot of players there nowadays, plus it also requires a lot of grind or uses P2W mechanics. Tera/ArchAge/Aion – I don’t think I even need to comment those.

Anyway, there are lots of aspects awesome about GW2 like:
- Awesome combat system that makes you feel really free (try other games to understand)
- Really awesome world maps (looking forward to see HoT maps!)
- Living story – this was actually something new after zero or almost zero story games
- Various events appearing along each year (like Halloween, Lunar New Year etc.)
- Loot system thanks to which there is no whine about loot sharing in groups
- Pretty nice music and art (the only MMO where I haven’t switched sound off)
- Non-forced leveling and the way levels work on locations and even in dungeons
- Non-forced PvP and WvW (I am not a fan of PvP, but playing those in GW2)
- Almost no client lags and issues (got only two errors for two years of playing)

Also there are some other minor things like there is no specific “best” place to farm gold (and I actually think that this game IS NOT a grindfest – devs have done a pretty good job at that. If you don’t believe – go play some other MMOs to feel the difference).

I might actually say I love almost everything about GW2 and that makes me return and play the game every day.

Playing using notebook with GTX 980M (mobile version of GTX 980) – didn’t have any issues so far. Though it might differ from desktop version a lot, so that might not be really useful information.

Anyway – are you sure you have the latest driver installed?
What does the BSOD say exactly? – that might help devs to find the issue if its in game.
You have this issue only in GW2 or it appears in some other games as well?
Tried changing GW2 graphics settings? For example windowed mode?

Forging Eternity ruined my game experience

Just get it off TP and equip it. And then, proudly wearing Eternity, go and farm back all the gold your GF wasted on it and give it back (or even more).

I also thought about selling it once I craft it and simply wear skinned ascended GS, but believe me – equipping it and having the Eternity skin (which by the way was fixed/impoved not-so-long-ago) was the right thing to do. Totally worth it. Totally.

Also I think that with later expansions other stats than berserk might become handy – this is where legendary weapons with their changeable stats will truly shine.

Wiella.8567

I gather you are ignoring the potential cost/value of Obsidian when you calculate that profit (which makes sense if you farm in silverwastes every day). Are you factoring in the potential value of the required skill points? Those are worth 20-80s without much effort and you need 0.6 SP/clover, which cuts the profit by at least 10-40s. 30% profit on ectos selling at 30-35s is less than 11s.

I am not ignoring that, of course I have considered cost of obsidians and skillpoints (less than you state though, your numbers seems to be unreasonable). Also you are forgetting that those are simply a side-effect of farming SW – you also loot a lot of other mats and stuff from there, so only a small portion of time can be considered as “wasted” on obsi/sp farming which means that their “time-cost” is minimal. Time is also a resource which should be considered and I haven’t forgotten it.

I have done a lot of calculations a few months ago, but with recent rise of mystic coins prices and drop of T6 mats cost those aren’t really useful anymore. And, to be honest I also stopped farming SW massively since I have achieved what I wanted

I believe that converting mats right now isn’t that profitable anymore, but can still be considered as an option. Also imo T6 mats cost will make a rocket-jump in time, so this can be a good investment.

intensive chestfarm which gives ton of obsidian shards which are used for making t6 mat

Obsidian Shards are used for making T6 mats? Like… though the clover recipe? Are people actually doing this?

In average I get around 20-30% of profit if I convert 400+ ectos into T6 mats. More you convert – less random the convert becomes and in average it is profitable, yes. Or it’s just me bein lucky last 10000+ converts, who knows…

Also mass-converts are simple to achieve now due to excessive obsi drop in SW and can now be done much more frequently than before. In SW you basically get all you need – skillpoints from EXP/bags, obsis from chests, ectos from yellow gear. Just add some coins and there you go.

Volcanic fractal - burn condi with movement

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Noticed that as well – on the fight with Legendary Imbued Shaman.

There are two nasty bugs there actually:

1. Burning is applied whatever you do, even if you run around or jump all the time – you get the burn condition in any case from time to time.

2. There is a spot in the middle where you might get dmg from lava, even when all lava sources are off at the moment – it just seems like the floor there doesn’t save you from the underlying lava – that bug sometimes leads to an instant wipe for the party when you get to that spot alltogether and “catch” a few ticks of lava.

Stuck for me and my friend as well.
It seems that NPC ( Echo of Turai ) is stuck in combat and story doesn’t continue.

To be exact – it stuck after defending the throne from mobs and talking to story NPC.
Nothing happens, story mark points to Echo of Turai and he just stands with half of HP in one place right where the throne image was placed.

Does magicfind booster work on bandit chests?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Wiella.8567

Wiella.8567

I would say it works and here are the reasons:

1. It is known for sure that Perseverance MF bonus works on chests AND it gives 2x bonus for 1 second when chest is opened (which can be also seen on hero panel just for 1 second). It would be really dumb if that “while-opening” bonus wouldn’t work on chests as well. And since both bonuses from Perseverance are displayed in addition to casual MF stat I suppose casual MF also works on chests.

2. I have made a lot of tests around the subject with account with just 150% MF (300% on open) with Perseverance buff VS 630% MF (780% on chest open) – opened around 5k chests with one account and 5k chests with another one – I’d say I get 3-5x more obsidians with the second one. With the non-MF account I almost get none, with MF account I get tons of them and from time to time even 10 at once.

3. WIKI page on MF (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Magic_Find) clearly states:

Magic Find … with a couple exceptions, it does not affect containers … the exceptions are:
- Containers received from structured PvP reward tracks.
- Lost Bandit Chests in the Silverwastes when you have Perseverance.

So basically – if you just HAVE Perseverance buff on you – MF works on chests.

4. If you carefully read Perseverance description:

Gained by assisting Pact forces in the Silverwastes.
Removed upon leaving the map.
+30% Magic Find.
Bonus Magic Find When Opening Lost Bandit Chests.
Stacks intensity.

It doesn’t say that it works exclusively for Lost Bandit Chests or anything close – it just states that it gives static +% MF bonus and gives more while opening the chest. Nothing else. Tha means that it is the same MF as anything else and MF overall should be working on the chests.

-

So, from all that and some other minor tips I made a conclusion that all MF (both Perseverance part and account/stat part) work on Lost Bandit Chests. So unless someone gives me reasoned evidence that it doesn’t work – I will keep on using MF food and other stuff to get more obsidians which are actually pretty useful and some other bonus stuff.

Happened to me once as well, not sure whether this was after or before the wintersday update.

Was simply staying in LA browsing TP for a few hours and just as the topic author says – game’s FPS dropped to like 5-10 and game simply became unplayable. After closing the game you cannot restart it until you kill the process from the task manager.

A few friends of mine also seen this happen and more often than me, probably this somehow depends on the system/hardware. From what I’ve seen – probably this happens more often on slower hardware configurations.

Not sure that you can call that a “EU location” but I never ever had any issues/lags until this day on Gandara (EU GW2 server), so here is my location/info:

Location: Russia, Saint-Petersburg
Timezone: GMT+3
Incident time: ~ 21:30 and the whole next hour
Game world: Gandara (EU)

Issue description:

After playing for a few minutes I started to lag massively – skills working in 20-30 seconds after I try to cast them, NPC interactions lags, sometimes I get thrown back on the map.

My intenet connection is perfectly fine (100mb/s, tried opening some sites, loading video streams and torrents – all works except GW2). Site guildwars2.com is also loading instantly and I don’t see any issues here, only in-game.

After some time I got disconnected and couldn’t go futher than the charlist, though I was still able to log into charlist. Now after an hour I cannot even log-in as the launcher says: “There was an error logging in. Please try again.”

So the game is completely unplayable right now. My friend from Ukraine says its fine for him and he doesn’t have any lags in-game.

Hope this will be solved soon.

LF PvE/semi-PvP-oriented guild [EU][Deso/...]

Wiella.8567

Good day everyone!

Me and my friend are looking for PvE and semi-PvP -oriented guild on Desolation, Seafarer’s Rest or probably some other EU server – yep, we are ready to transfer anytime to join.

We are interested in an active guild that runs dungeons and fractals a lot and have a descent roster of active players to group up with for such runs. We are also be interested in PvP part of the game when it comes to guild teams. We haven’t played PvP a lot, but I am sure that it might also be a lot of fun and might become our top priority over PvE content. But so far we have only played some WvW and random PvP matches, usually in 2-man group – I can’t call those a good PvP experience.

We would also love to join guild missions, puzzles and challenges if you run such. If not – its not a big deal.

Preferred guild language is either English or Russian. I doubt there are a lot of Russian guilds out there, but just in case…

Shortly about us:

We have around a year of experience in various PvE content – mostly fractals (up to lvl 50) and some commonly run dungeons. We both have ascended/legendary-level gear properly “socketed” and specced for PvE. Also we have around the same level of gear for PvP for main characters and ascended/exotic-level for alts.

I have leveled and played various classes – warrior, elementalist, mesmer, guardian and thief – but I mostly prefer playing ele or warrior and I suppose those can be called my main characters. Though I’d be glad to try rerolling something else to fill-in the gaps in case that is needed.

My friend prefers playing guardian, but also played a lot with necromancer and ele. Not sure whether or not he is ready to reroll something else, but I am sure he will do his best at playing his current characters.

We are mostly playing after 18:00 (server-time) daily for about 3-5 hours (basically after work) and a lot more at the weekends.

We both can use (listen and speak) Ventrilo, TeamSpeak or any other voice communication app.

I guess this is all I can tell about us without going deep into details.
Hopefully not too disappointing

I can provide more details on any aspect in case it is needed – just contact me.

when they go out of their way to make sure the only way to reliably succeed is to wear toughness/healing gear.

Tanky gear will just help you a bit, but I’m sure you will still get one-shotted @ level 49/50 even with it. So I’d say its not just about gear/spec there.

Mai Trin Fractal Level Scaling

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Wiella.8567

Wiella.8567

We got Mai Trin on lvl 25 – me and my friend were joining for low level fractals just for fun – usually lvl 30- can be done even with totally messed group – not anymore if you get this encounter. She is about lvl 60-70 difficulty on lvl 25 now. According to the dmg at least.

Was on ele and managed to survive most of the attacks, but still:
- She one-shots you with the teleport, unless you block/mistform
- She one-shots you if you catch more than one of the ranged shots
- She two-shots you in melee

Probably this dmg wouldn’t be an issue if:
- You can dodge her teleport
- You can block her ranged shots
For now it just takes all you have to simply survive.

We managed to clear her in about an hour and half after replacing two partymemebers who didn’t have enough AR for that level (it was fine until this fractal) and making about 11-12 tries.

I would say that this was actually fun and competing, but only once. And I could only imagine how much dmg she has on lvl 49 or 50 now, didn’t see her there yet.

I guess its time to get toughness/vitality gear.

Mai Trin cannon salvo

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Wiella.8567

Wiella.8567

Heard of “group up & run” way of dealing with this phase, but never actually saw it. A few times people mentioned something like “we should do it” and then just spread out as everyone usually does.

It might be a good way to handle the phase in case of a guild group or people being on TS or such, but not for a random group found through LFG – that will most probably cause a wipe and a mess after.

It should require a good reaction from everyone, non-lagging internet connection and people with brain who won’t move ahead and cause cannons to aim ahead of the rest of the party members.

Shockwave Skipper bugged

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Wiella.8567

Wiella.8567

[Shockwave Skipper] is a FotM achievement that requires defeating Molten Alliance leaders without being hit by a shockwave.

That said, being hit seems to mean that you have to jump over the shokwaves (instead of just evading through them or running out of its range) according to what was said by those who managed to get this one some long time ago in some topics here on the forum.

Even so, sometimes the waves one of bosses does comes in the air and there is no kitten way to jump over it – if you stay, you won’t get damaged, if you jump – you catch the damage in the air, but in any case – you cannot jump over it which is pretty annoying.

So, what I tried in over 50 attempts (yeah, running fractals a lot):
1. Jumping over all waves:
- And killing boss slowly – last shockwave has about 5 waves
- And zerging the boss down – having about 1 or 2 shockwaves overall
2. Evading through all waves
3. Staying out of all waves reach
4. Jumping over one of waves and staying out of reach after
5. Evading one of waves and staying out of reach after
And all these tries i mentioned were done when no airborn waves were present (told about this seems-to-be-bug thing before). And nothing. No achievement.

So i guess this one is actually bugged and cannot be done anyhow anymore.

Or maybe everyone in the party must jump over the waves to do this?
That is insane in that case and I actually doubt it should work that way.

Frequent crashing

Also saw this crash yesterday in the middle of a world boss encounter – pretty annoying one as i missed the boss due to that crash and even got into overflow. That crash never happened before the last update or two (i guess the 18th mar update messed something).

As some of my guild members says (who also encounter that crash a few times per day) – it happens only around a big amount of players – mostly on world bosses and in WvW when massive combat rolling.

A wild guess – It might be an OS/videocard-related issue as most of people seems to have Win 8 and NVIDIA video cards (at least 3 posts in this topic says about 780-series NVIDIA video cards).

I am using Asus G750JH with:
Windows 8 (not 8.1)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M (with latest drivers installed)
