You could even disable mounts for WvW is that turned out to be an issue.
There’s no real argument against mounts here.
Only by joining Mists, seeing the horrid pvp starter gear… it puts me off before i even start.
tl;dr: ANet please implement gear inspect feature. Non-elitists, you will still be able to party with people like you, but you will no longer reduce the effectiveness of elitist runs with your casual builds.
Elitists can ask other elitists to join their group, there your problem is solved.
“Looking for 2 more elitists for dungeon run”… we already have posts like this.
We already have that “no noobs pls!!”
And we all know how effective it is.
When i first came 80, i lied about experience in almost all my runs. And i did just fine, because i’m a good player, and i can do simple boss tactics like the ones in GW2. And my gear didn’t stop anyone!
I’m not a noob, even if my gear is.
And if you are good i don’t see problem with gear inspection, if you are noob good players will kick you anyway from harder dungeons.
What if i am on my first 80, and want gear from said dungeons. Should i forget it, or join other noobs maybe? Are they reserved for the el33t?
Heheh. There are many factors.
Had many epic battles in this matchup! See you… tomorrow GH.
If some player really like numbers there is mathematics, .
Now that’s very black and white.
The introduction of the dailies and monthlies was a step backwards for Guild Wars 2. With these “additions” GW2 is the same like any other MMO on the market. One is forced to do specific tasks now to get things which are essential for every interested gamer. That wasn’t the case with GW2 before the introduction of the dailies and monthlies. A part which made GW2 unique is gone now — at least for me. I can’t play the game as I want to any more. A sad thing in my book.
What about when they add choices of daily quests? so that you can play like you want.
Well. I sort of scimmed through that post and the endless " ".
Since you have played this game for hundreds and hundreds of hours, and there’s no sub, i guess you got your moneys worth. And i wish you good luck in your future games!
This should not be implemented as it will result in “elitist” behaviour with any sort of group activity and encourage discrimination against sections of the community who do not have the “expected” setup.
As an example someone might want to speed run dungeons, and have it in their mind that only people setup for DPS can do speed runs efficiently so will start inspecting anyone who wants to join the party to see if they have a class cannon build or not, and remove anyone who does not.
Also, how far do you take a system like this, just armour, jewels, weapons, what about traits and skills? Implementing a partial inspect system will result in some vocal members wanting more information from the inspection.
Guild Wars 2 is about, using ArenaNet’s own mantra, playing the game the way you want, this include armour setup, weapons, jewels, traits and skills. Allowing an inspection tool would ultimately result in a reduction of variety in player builds as people will standardise their builds to what groups expect them to have.
I feel the same thing as you.
To be mentioned, i wanted a discussion on this topic. I don’t want it implented myself!
Lets get some pros and cons here.
So first off, for those who don’t know what it is.
“Inspecting gear” is a feature where you can check anyones gears in a UI. By right clicking or something else.
My view on this:
It would make it easier to check out someones gear if you’re curious. You wouldn’t have to link every piece.
But then again, It would also increase the level of “gear checking” for dungeons, etc. At that would pollute the community. “You must have x gear to enter this group”. Just like the “You have to be warrior to join this group”, only worse.
It would also make it easier to bash somone because of their gear.
These are the only things i can think about when it comes to this topic.
So, i ask you.
Should it be implented? Or not? Give us your opinion!

I’m like you, OP. I don’t want to see numbers. But it is my experience that I’m in a vast minority.
I like the heart system! Alot.
Being unemployed/not being in school is a huge plus in WvW. It’s also very good if you don’t sleep.
:)
I don’t think changing 0/10 to “10 left” would change in any way the fact they are fetch quests like wow that we were told would have never been included in GW2.
We play GW2 because it’s about quality content, if we wanted cheap, quickly-coded updates we would be playing cheap MMOs like wow.
“like wow”
Please stop. Going around bashing other mmos wont strengthen your argument.
OT:
I like the hearts idea. They’re also adding choices in the feb. patch for dailys, that’s an improvement. In that way you can do what you like as a daily!
(Also, the underwater killing daily… it’ll be off my list when i can choose.)

I really hope a video game isn’t standing in for the professional help someone in your situation needs.
Have you been in his situation?
The world is already pretty darn small. Having mounts (assuming they have a speed buff associated with them) would even make it smaller.
Just like having teleports everywhere?
You’re not one to dictate how people see Tyria. There’s a thing called “choice”. And by buying the game, you get that right. Just like no one is forcing you to teleport (the argument people loves around here), no one would force you to use mount.
And since there’s no world pvp, it wouldnt harm anyone. It would make Tyria look better. Since people would ride their horse, instead of teleporting every small distance.
The moment this game will receive first mount im uninstalling it forever.
What is your problem with mounts? What is the reason behind this hate that will make you UNINSTALL the game in order to not see mounts in it? It’s ridicilous, to be honest.
I don’t understand the extremism about certain topics with some people in this community. It’s the same about duels, and arena.
You should know that Anet is catering to a wide playerbase here. Open your minds…
Thank you, Anet!
But thanks to people bandwagoning the upper tiered servers, instead of increasing the competition in this game. They should just merge/close the low tiered “dead” servers.

Monthy Python tread?
Oh, GW2 community, you make my morning so bright!
Ask community if it’s common to lose interest in GW2…
Get response that it doesn’t matter what they think and they should quit.
GG
Is it our responsobility to maintain other peoples motivation?
If they are losing interest, it’s their personal thing, nothing is going to change that. What if every single person that is losing interest to GW2 posted it on the public forum? Threads like these doesn’t belong here.
If you’re losing interest, take a break. Or even quit. It is pure logic. Losing interest in an entertainment medium is common, it’s not breaking news to post on the forums.
The content isn’t gated. People’s minds are gated.
Aye!
You paid a one time fee. Did you get what you paid for? I think you did. Now, if you have “hit the wall”. Take a break. There’s no sub, no wasted time. I’ve had my break, came back again. No problemo!
I found a community/guild to play with. And that made the difference. It’s different from playing solo or with a few friends. Just a tip!
Also. Why would the forum be interested in your motivation to play GW2?
We had MS people attacking us and our border, we fought MS. While fighting GH.
So, no teaming up here. You just got the taste of primetime fighting.
You having your russian striketeams in the morning, without resistance, makes most arguments invalid too.
(edited by Winfernal.9208)
What do you want out of this thread? What is the topic of discussion?
If servers are dead?
You’ve finished the game. Do you think it was worth the money? Probably, since you got 1000+ hours in it.
Take a break, it’s not a monthly fee, so you can come and go as you like.
:)
Since the “I died. Oh well, i’ll just run back from waypoint, no worries”-mentality is gone;
- It makes you afraid of dying. Making you more aware of the enviorment and tactics.
- It makes reviving your teammates an important thing to do. Making you and your team more focused on keeping your group alive.
- It kinda makes the dungeons and its encouters harder. And they aren’t that difficult in the first place.
I like this. It shouldn’t have been possible in the first place.
Adapt, make strategies, up your game.
(edited by Winfernal.9208)
I don’t get it.
Make your mind forums
It’s amazing how some people believe that forums are some sort of hive-mind. No, there are different opinions here as well…
ZVZ is dumb and kills your computer
The game isn’t defined as trash, even if you, “Dutchmango”, says so. WvW is kind to my computer though!
When i see someone attacking a mob i also need for “x event”, i kill it with him. Because this is the nature of GW2, cooperation. I don’t think “He is working on his dodge daily, i will grief him!”.
Please, tell people that you are working on your daily if it bothers you THAT much. Social interaction, guys. Even if you might think so, it’s not always griefing and harm that is in peoples mind when this happens.
This is a non-issue, really.
TIP: Find and play with a guild/community. Meeting and playing with other people than the regulars is great.
Also,
Fun is relative.
Either you find it fun, or you don’t. Trying to make other people convince you wont help. Nobody likes to play when it’s forced.

I do want an “arena-mode”.
But the quality of your post is kitten.
“x sucks, x sucks, add arena.”
It would be nice!
But i don’t think it’s in the priority list.
No.
- Regular PvE players are forced into PvP
But as a WvW player i am forced into PvE.
What if you could gear up from WvW instead of EvE (Exploit versus Environment)?
Wow, first some from FSP try to openly make an alliance with Miller’s. Miller’s refuses and now some act kitten when Miller’s attacks you using standard 3- way tactics – As if you were entitled to Miller’s cooperation. The arrogance is mind boggling. But I’m sure these are just a few bad elements and not representative of the whole server. :-)
“Trying to make an Alliance” is not as close to the truth as you might want it to be.
All it was was being practical. Miller’s best option would be to help us Sandwich Gunnar’s at any oportunity they get, not help Gunnar’s defend their keeps and towers by trying to clear us of them. :P
Hey you! Yes you, Xaoc!
Stop doing those morning raids.
I’m sitting here at work, can’t do anything about it! Arghh!Had some awesome battles with both GH and Miller’s yesterday! I find this matchup to be awesome.
May the awesome battles continue!
It’s not much difference from what we do really, they are just a few hours ahead.
Soon enough they will be out of our tier, so don’t worry, and don’t tell them to stop.
I don’t mind, It was just my bad sense of humour.

Some of the arguments here are ridicilous.
“I don’t want to get spammed by duel-invitations.”
- Simple. Make a “auto-block duel request” button. And disable dueling inside of towns.
“But i don’t want to get forced to enable the “auto-block” button."
- Really? Wow.
“Duels in the open-world will cause visual pollution.”
- Duelists often choose areas to duel where the NPC count is low. And how is seeing people fighting each other in a mostly PvP-based game ‘visual pollution’?
Also, guys. As i said. GW2 is based on PvP. Why wouldn’t there be duels?
Knock knock, think for a second in that head of yours. Some of you “anti-dueling” people are having “first world problem”-issues on this subject. Meanwhile, for some people, adding dueling would mean everything to them. Don’t be selfish.
Wake up! The game is stale already, it would certainly be less-stale with duels for PvPers.
For all the duel haters… its as simple as “auto decline toggle”, bam, problem solved, you PVErs are happy, and we duelists are happy.
Oh, and then all the whispers and in open chat: I want to duel with you. My blocked list would grow beyond what I want it to be…
I played LotRO, it has a duel feature, I got never asked why I would decline a duel.
You might have some bad exp, but this game might not be like some other…I tried WoW (years ago). In a span of 1 day I already grew tired of those people spamming: want to duel, want to dual… Uh, no? Maybe that’s why I turned it off?
I don’t care about that. I’m not against dueling, but I’m against dueling in the open world. Let those pirates in LA create an arena, where you can duel and/or watch a match… (so, an open-world instanced map kind of thing…)
This must be the definition of exxageration. Really? You grew tired of WoW in 1 day because of people wanting to duel you? Oh, poor you. Besides, you can only duel outside of towns in the “dueling spot” mostly. Honestly, this is ridicilous.
